Connecting mini to car radio

My sister wants a device to connect her ipod to her car radio. She has an older car so it doesn't have a built in port. Her radio does have a cd player. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that works well (she's invested in a few duds in the past)?
Thanks!

  • Connect Iphone to car radio system

I try to find a way to connect my Iphone to my car radio. I wan to listen my mp3 and use my phone with the car radio system.
    annuaire et actualité

There are many ways to do this (I use the MonsterCable ipod adapter in rental cars, and the Pioneer Ipod Interface for my P7500DVDII) both with decent results. (great results if you turn on airplane mode). All GSM phones can effect stereo equipment to some degree, and the iphone is no exception. Alot of the 3rd party kits do not use shielded connections which just makes the problem that much more obvious. I found if I adjust the location of my phone in relation to the transmitter and the radio the Monster fm modulator gives satisfactory results without disabling my ability to recieve phone calls. The pioneer is the best, however I can't place the phone in the holder which was installed with the kit since it is in the DIN above the stereo (VW Jetta) and the phone constantly interferes with the amplification circuits. Moving the phone 3-4 inches fixes it.

  • Connecting iPOD to car radio

    Hi there,
Recently, I got a new car. A Seat Leon with a radio/MP3/Navigation system. The system is the exact same one used in VolksWagens (IIRC the manufacturer is BlauPunkt).
Since I'm taking a long trip from Holland to Denmark soon, and I don't want to listen to the German 'Rundfunk', I decided to replace my old iPOD (it got very sick. Its HD went 'click' all the time, which can't be good)) with a new iPOD 30 GB.
This morning I stepped into my car, excited like a kid in a candystore, and hooked up the USB cable to the USB port of my car. Then I plugged in the iPOD, which told me to not disconnect. SCORE! Or not?
The iPOD realises it is connected, and starts charging. It also pretends to be playing, but my radio won't recognise it. Anyone have any experience like this? The dealer I bought the car at recommended me to RTFM and configure the radio for AUX, but I don't think there's such a thing, and they are closed now, so I cannot even yell at them now.
    Anyone at all? whimpers
    Thanks.

Having a USB port is not all you need. It's just one piece.
Is the car radio 'iPod Ready'?
The radio needs to be aware that it is an iPod connected to it, and not just some USB storage device which has MP3 files on it.

  • Cark-126 connections (esp. to car radio)

I am struggling to find wiring instructions for the Cark-126 car kit. Can anyone help?
In particular I want to wire it into my Car Radio (Pioneer KEH-P4830R in 1999 Honda Civic) so that:
    * I use the radio’s loudspeakers (ie. not the Cark’s speaker)
    * The radio mutes automatically (the radio does specifically support this)
    1. Do I need to buy any additional cables to do this? (ie. not already included in the car kit).
    2. If not how do I connect the kit’s control unit (HFU-4) to the radio?
    3. Where do I connect the Yellow (“radio mute”) core of the PCU-4 power cable?
    4. Is there anywhere I can still download / obtain the installation manual? (it’s no longer available on Nokia website)
    Thanks, Andrew

You will need to buy a mute interface to make the sound come through the car speakers, this will also provide power to the car kit & can be ordered with a cark-126 plug already on the lead, so it just plugs in. The pioneer radio will have a yellow wire on the back with a tag stating mute wire, connect this to the yellow on your car kit. I would not recommend you try and install this yourself because you can do a lot of damage if you dont know what you are doing, look in you phone book and find a specialist who can supply all the corect parts and fit it properly for you.

  • HT1477 Good evening.  What kind of an adapter do I require to plug my ipod shuffle into the Aux In plug to connect to my car radio??  Thank you.

Good evening,  What kind of an adapter do I require to plug my ipod shuffle into aux 1 outlet in my car to go through radio???

It's not really an "adapter."  It's a cable with a mini-stereo plug at both ends.  Here's an example
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
Connect it from the shuffle's headphones jack to the auxilliary audio input on car audio system.  You called it an "aux 1 outlet," but it's really an audio INPUT, correct?  DO NOT connect it there, if that is an audio OUTPUT.  It needs to be an audio INPUT.

  • Connecting iPod to car radio - USA-Spec

Just installed the USA-Spec adapter to connect my iPod to the factory radio in my Toyota via the CD changer (no factory iPod connector). This is by far the best sounding and most elegant solution I have found - since it's a direct connection and there are no wires showing.
There seems to be an issue with the pause/play on the iPod sometimes getting out of sync with the radio. When you turn the radio off the iPod goes on and visa versa.
Could really use some insight for resolving this - before it drains my car battery.
    Thanks.

Contact the car manufacturer.  Find out if it is compatible with your model iPod Nono.  You must be specific as which model you have in order to receive the correct information from the car manufacturer.

  • TS1425 iPod nano - loses functionality when connected to car radio

For the past week, when I connect my iPod nano (4th generation) to a car radio (and I've tried it in several) it brings up a splash screen of the radio manufacturer which stays on the iPod screen and prevents any further access to the iPod functionality. This only happens when connected to a car radio, otherwise the iPod functions normally. So in effect, the iPod is unusable when connected to the car radio, which is where I do most of my listening. Anyone know how to help eliminate this problem?

It sounds like a battery issue to me. When you connect it to the PC it draws power from the computer and thus it is able to function. Apparently it doesn't have enough of its own juice anymore. You probably just need a new battery.

  • Connecting to car radio

After connecting to my car radio via inbuilt ipod cable for around half an hour or so my ipod freezes and has to be reset via itunes. Any ideas?

There are not one but many ways:
    1) Use a cassette adapter that has 3.55mm connector (there are many brands and very cheap)
    2) Get a Car stereo that support A2DP and connect via Bluetooth (of course then you need to change the car stereo but hey this is a good excuse to do it). This is the most comfortable solution as the phone will connect automatically to it when you start the car.
    3) Get an FM Transmitter with 3.5mm connector and use the FM radio (I've used the Belkin which I didn't like and also the Kingston which I like you just need to keep the volume down in the phone so that it doesn't distort, Nokia also has an FM transmitter)
    4) Get a car Kit or Hands free that connects to a car stereo.
    5) Get a car stereo that has Line-in inputs (RCA or 3.5mm). This is by far the best audio quality solution!, and what you should do if you really want to enjoy good sound.
    6) I'm not sure but are there uPNP enabled car stereos?
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Anyone else lose bluetooth connection with car radio since updating to IOS 6?

I've lost consistent connection between my iPhone 4S and car radio (Kenwood) ever since I upgraded to IOS 6.  This is apparantly happening to lots of people. I use this bluetooth for hands-free calling on my phone so I'm hoping Apple will come out with IOS 6.1 soon to address this software patch.  Others experiencing this with their phones and car stereo systems?

I'm having probems as well.  I can make calls and play music but I can only change songs on my iPhone 4S but not with the controls on the car.  I was able to do this before the upgrade.

  • ITunes automatically starts playing when iPhone 5 (w iOS 7.0.2) is connected to car radio via an Apple cable

I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, regardless it is the most recent update
When I plug my phone into my car radio's USB port (Apple cable, not knock off) iTunes starts to play the very first song in my large iTunes library.
I plug into the USB port to charge it and to connect the phone to radio in order to use hands free audio.
I have tried two or three different cables, it happens with all cables and again all are actual Apple cables.
I do not recall this happening with iOs 6 or at least as much.
With iOs 7 it happens every f***ing time. Extremely annoying and dangerous (I may get so frustrated by this that one day I might just smash the phone or the car radio :-) to the equipment.
I have to unlock my phone, go to iTunes and pause or stop the song/iTunes.
The app does not show as being open, that is why I have to go iTunes itself, the old fashioned way, so to speak.
It sometimes happens when I plug my headset in (also Apple brand, the basic ones that come with the iPad and iPhones) to phone and have tried the two different ones I have. It only seems to happen if my phone is not in use (i.e. I am on a call and switch to the headset it does not happen)
Interestingly this issue with the headphones and iTunes automatically starting happened more with iOS 6  and than with iOS 7. Ironically the opposite is true with the car radio, USB port cable, charging and iPhone — it rarely happened with iOS 6.0 but with iOS 7.0 it always happens.
I cannot seem to find a fix here but I do see I am not the only one with this annoying issue.
Please someone (APPLE!)  figure out a fix.
PS I have even considered NOT having any of my music on my phone — none at all —  which not only would solve the problem (I would hope!)  but be extremely inconvenient and defeating the purpose of only having an iPhone vs an iPhone and an iPod.
PPS -  I probably left out something really relevant, like what color is my car , so if I did, please let me know.

I have an iPhone 5 and every time I get into my car, as soon as my iPhone connects to the bluetooth or if I connect the USB cable, the music starts blaring through the car stereo, even if the radio was off. If I am using any of the navigation apps on my phone (google maps, waze, apple maps), and I happen to be lucky enough to have the voice directions working (that's consistently inconsistent), the music will frequently start by itself during navigation, even if I didn't turn the music on. Sometimes the music and navigation voice over will compete with each other at the same time. Sometimes they both go totally silent. Sometimes I'll hear only music. Sometimes only the voice directions. And if make or receive a phone call while the navigation is working, as soon as the phone call ends, the music will always take over again, even if I didn't have the music on prior to. I've checked and re-checked every setting on my phone, in my apps, in my car, and followed all of the suggestions I've found online (note to Apple - there are tons of posts on this topic), and nothing works.
It seems like there should be an easy software fix for this, or at the very least, options to:
prevent the music from starting automatically every time you connect with a cable or bluetooth (insanely annoying)
allow voice directions to temporarily mute music, should one choose to be listenting to music and navigating at the same time
just listen to voice direction - no music!
Better yet, how about just provide options to let the end-user decide when to listen to music.
For a product that is supposed to be "intuitively easly" and/or "just works", this level of dysfunction shouldn't be acceptable. Come on Apple - what are you doing to fix this???

  • Can i connect my ipod classic to my car radio via bluetooth so that I can listen whilst driving?

Can I connect my Ipod Classic to my car radio using bluetooth (or any other way) so that I can listen through my radio whilst driving?

Yes, get an iFM transitter from eBay or Amazon.
Search for Griffin or Monster or just iPod Classic FM transmitter and charger, they are inexpensive less than US$30.
Get one with charger or else you iPod might run out of battery faster.

I have a new iPod classic and à brand new Renault Megane. When I connect my iPod to my car radio by using a auxiliary cable, I only get sound out of the left speakers. Does someone know how to solve this problem?

    iDjeff wrote:

Is the cable plugged into the headphone socket of your iPod?
If it is, and the the sound plays through both left and right when you use headphones, that suggests that there is something wrong with the auxilary cable or where it's plugged into.
Where does the auxilary cable plug into on the car's stereo?
