Connecting to Network/Ethernet in Brazil

I am in a small city where my pc connects, however my mac will not connect to the ethernet. I have put TCP/IP and DNS of the PC into my mac with no results. Any ideas?
Also, this small hotel has wireless and my pc connects but not my mac. I am using Leopard.
Thanks for your help

Hello Arash marashi,
First of all, it is more likely a develop related question and I'm afraid you've posted on the wrong forum. I will show you some direction below and you can check them then post it to the right forum.
Actually you can finish your job using the following ways:
1. Since you want to access gmail login page, the easiest way to do this is to use Gmail APIs, however it is not Microsoft product so it is third party here. You have to consult their support for this issue.
2. The second way will be a little complex. You have to clarify your project type and programming language first.
Both C#,VB,C++ can do the same action and WinForm,MFC, WPF and also ASP.NET website have textbox controls. Once you've already choosed a technology, you will need to be able to visit Gmail access page and get the html node from that page. After that,
you can use the value from your textbox to fill the blanks and perform a login button click event. This will sounds like something like the following if you choose to use WinForm webbrowser control:

So in general, if you need further support, please post it in the right forum.

  • My airport is connected to an Ethernet cable and I have created a wifi network but my iPad and I phone can't seem to join it. They just keep trying. What's wrong?? Help!

I have just bought an airport express to connect to the Ethernet cable in my cabin. It's all set up all lights green and I've set up my wifi connection. But when I try to connect my I pad 3 or my iPhone 4 it finds the network but cannot seem to join it. Can anyone help?

    Hello Lucy:
As I am not on the ship, I am "fishing" to see if I am able to help.
On the ships (cruise type) I have been on, there is usually a secure "ship" wi-fi network (as well as one that passengers may use for a fee) that needs a password to join.
On your iPad, go to settings and then tap Wi-Fi.  What network are you connected to?
When you plugged in your Airport Express, you should have been prompted for settings...including security.

  • Airport card and ethernet show connection but I cannot connect to network

I have an iMac where I can connect to the internet within 10-15 seconds of turning on airport or plugging in cat-5 wire to use the ethernet connection. After this time frame I must turn airport off and then on to regain the connection. Or, if hard wired, I must remove the cat-5 and plug it back in. I have seen many posts similar to this on forums. However, all of the posts pertain to a wireless connection only. I have tried most all of the solutions people have offered including zapping my PRAM. Unfortunately, I have had no luck with any of them.
    Three things to note:
    1. I believe this problem occurred after a power loss at my home. No power surge - just lost power. I can't be certain on the timing but thought this should be mentioned.
    2. I have upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 to try to rectify the issue - didn't work.
    3. I have switched from comcast to AT&T - different router/different connection/different network preference - and nothing changed.
So, the problem is not with the connection itself as I am able to connect for a few seconds. It doesn't pertain to the OS as I have upgraded and still no fix.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You have not detailed the router being used..
Please tell us if you are using an apple router and which one.. exact model will help.
Is the modem also a router? And wireless?
Try clearing out all the old settings from the wireless.
Reboot and do a clean setup.. certainly if there is an apple router it should have a factory reset and a new clean setup.
For ethernet it doesn't work like wireless.. it is based usually on dhcp.. things can go wrong though.. test with a static ip set on the computer.
Sometimes just age catches up.. old computers and routers and cables.. you need to test with new routers, new cables and new computers.. to locate where a problem is actually occuring.

  • Connecting to an Ethernet network

    Hi,
I am having a problem connecting my MacBook pro to the internet network at my work office. It is to be connected by an Ethernet cable. I have managed to connect my PC laptop running windows 7 but cannot find a way to connect my MacBook.
I called apple care and they lead me to the 'Connect Using a Static IP Address' screen, via system preferences/Assist me.../Assistant.../Continue/(select 'I connect to my local area network (LAN). Continue/Continue. At the 'Connect Using a Static IP Address' page I use the same IP Address, Subnet Mask I do on my PC.
**This is where i think i go wrong**, i put what is called 'Default Gateway' on PC where MAC says 'Router Address', and the(PC )perfered and alternate DNS server numbers where(MAC)says DNS Hosts.
Once I've selected continue, i get the message. 'Unable to establish a network connection'
What i need to know is how do i find out the correct network information from my PC to transfer it on to my MAC so i can get the internet connection. Apple care say i need to find the 'router address' which i can not find on the PC.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

The 'router' address should be the IP address of the server you access. All the static information should be provided by your IT sysadmin. Your machine's IP address that you enter must be provided for your Mac. You cannot use the same one you use on your PC. You sysadmin needs to provide that to you. If it isn't in the server's routing table you cannot connect to the network. Their server must also be configured to work with a Mac. Many Windows-centric systems don't easily work with Macs.
This definitely sounds like an issue you need to take up with your IT people.

  • Network Configuration Window Freezes When USB NDIS Internet Connection Sharing and Ethernet Port Are Used Simultaneously

    Current Setup:
Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo with built-in Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet.  Windows 8 Pro. Intel i5-3570k (using onboard Intel 4000 HD Graphics).  RAID0- 2 OCZ Vertex 4's.
I will refer to this setup as my tower.
The Ethernet port works fine by itself.  When I use wired tethering with my Android phone (Droid 4 running on 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich), it works fine when nothing is connected into the Ethernet port in the mobo.
The issue arises when I try to connect both simultaneously.  The network configuration window in windows basically freezes and I cannot really navigate it without a ~60 second delay at best.
I would like to be able to accept the internet from my Android via a USB tether and either bridge the connection or use the internet connection sharing service to route traffic through the unused Ethernet port on the mobo (either to another computer/xbox
or more desirably a switch/router to spread to the entire home network).  I have extensively researched the issue of Windows 8 become slow and unresponsive when I attempt to do this and I have not found anyone with the exact problem.  I am able to
do both the MAC bridge miniport (bridge 2 connections) and Internet Connection Sharing though a Windows Vista (home premium) Laptop I have. The difference between the laptop and the tower I am try to do this on is the laptop has a WIFI and Ethernet connection
while the tower only has the on-board Ethernet.
Do I have all the necessary equipment to accomplish this, or do I need to buy a PCIe WIFI card?  If so could I get away with just getting a USB WIFI dongle?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I had the same problem and came here by searching.
Per Rosengren's method solved the problem, but he didn't say how to do it, so I'll try to explain step-by-step for anyone that may venture here.
Open Device Manager (right click on Computer > Manage > on the left side, under System Tools choose Device Manager)
Choose the problematic device in Network Adapters (for me it's called HTC Remote NDIS based device)
Right click on it and choose Update Driver Software...
Click Browse my computer for driver software
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers
Uncheck the box Show compatible hardware
For the manufacturer, choose Microsoft Corporation
Now you will have two options:
    - Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
    - Remote NDIS Compatible Device
I chose the second one and it solved the problem, but if it doesn't work you could try the other one. In my case, the driver that was being used was neither of these, but a special driver from Android SDK ADT bundle.
Pick one and click Next. If a dialog comes up, confirm by clicking Yes.
Wait a few seconds for the connection to restart. If it doesn't work, try disabling and reenabling USB tethering on the phone, or reconnect the USB cable.
I should also note that I'm using a custom Android ROM on HTC Wildfire S (unofficial Cyanogenmod). If you have a stock ROM with HTC Sense, maybe this method may not work and you'll need a proprietary HTC driver.

  • AirPort Express connected to an Ethernet network

At home, I have three Macs connected to an existing Ethernet switch, which are networked together and share an Internet connection through a DSL modem (connected to the Ethernet switch too).
Also, I have a Graphite AirPort Base connected to the same Ethernet switch, with a MacBook and an iBook wirelessly networked, and all these 5 computer «see» each other and connect to the Internet without problems.
Now I'm trying to replace the Graphite AirPort Base with an AirPort Express, but looks like I'm having problems to make it act as an Ethernet bridge, since:
    1) the MacBook and the iBook «see» each other, but don't «see» the Macs connected to the Ethernet bridge;
    2) the MacBook and the iBook connect to the Internet without problems, but the other Macs don't.
I searched the Apple site and this forum extensively, but I didn't find a detailed guide explaining how to set up this kind of «hybrid» network (wireless+ethernet) through the AirPort Express. I'm beginning to think it's not possible. Am I wrong?
Is there a method to replicate the situation I had with the Graphite AirPort Base, using the AirPort Express instead?

  • How to connect a home Ethernet network and Time Machine?

My home is wired for Ethernet, but I cannot figure out how to make it active.
Currently I have my cable modem connected to a Time Machine. Then, the Time Machine is connected to the Ethernet lines that run through my house. If I try to connect my laptop to one of the Ethernet jacks in the house, it does not work. I can however connect the laptop to the Time Machine directly with no issues.
Any ideas on what I may be missing?
    Thank you.

The Time Capsule is indeed a wireless router, also having three Ethernet ports. So it should be capable of handling up to three devices connecting via Ethernet and routing them to the Internet through your cable modem which should be connected to the WAN port on the Time Capsule.
Again, if you connect a computer directly to one of the Ethernet ports in the Time Capsule and it works to get you to the Internet, but you then connect one of the in-wall Ethernet lines to that same port in the Time Capsule and connect the same computer using the same patch cable to the other end of the in-wall Ethernet line and it doesn't work, then the in-wall cabling is bad.

  • Make network to connect wireless and ethernet macs

i have a macbook that connects via Airport, and a Mac Pro that connects via ethernet.
In the past - I've had no problems connecting/sharing between 2 macs, but both were sharing one airport.
Since plugging in the MacPro, I'm no longer able to share between the airport connected macbook and ethernet connected MacPro.
Seems like it should be simple and I'm feeling silly.
    help?

    wireless mac -
    ip - 10.0.1.2
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
    router - 10.0.1.1
    macpro ethernet -
    ip - 192.168.15.2
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
    router - 192.168.15.1
I had tried doing a manual setting on the ethernet connected mac (which is plugged into the back of the airport, btw) - changed all settings to match the wireless mac, but still am not able to print wireless to the ethernet mac. when I look under "sharing" on the ethernet mac, the ip still shows up as 192.168.15.1, even after manual config....
    thanks in advance

  • Can no longer connect to network

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this.  All of a sudden my iPhone or my daughter's iPod can connect to the network.  The router password is correct and up until Saturday night we were all connected.  My daughter's boyfriend tried to connect to the network tonight, put in the correct password and he got a message that he could not connect to the network the same message my daughter and I are having.  Unfortunately no one at Linksys was able to help me unless I paid $29.99 or updated my modem for $79.99.  Thank you in advance.

@LinK0514, is your wireless network using the same name that you were using since the initial setup? If it is using the same name, we can say that the wireless password was changed or due to wireless interference, wireless devices could not connect. Before resetting the router, try to check if the internet is working using computers that are connected wired (via ethernet) to the router. If yes, try accessing the router page (depends on the router model) using it's default IP Address 192.168.1.1. Or you can check the router's IP Address using the steps on this link: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=8156bfe4bddc4b6ebed5bc250633e036_4760.xml&pid=80&r...
If you acquired the IP Address, you can access the router page using the steps on this link and check your wireless settings: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=476326f36c294e579ba6691a8db5411e_3698.xml&pid=80&r...

  • Very Odd Problem connecting to network please help

Ok so I have had my Macbook Pro for a while and I have both an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express in my room. So until recently I could turn on my computer and my Airport would automatically connect to the internet. Now recently I turn on or open my computer and I can still see my network but I cannot connect to it. I have restarted all the devices and my computer, but the only thing that eventually logs me on (after anywhere between 5 minutes - an hour) is waiting. But the second I close my laptop I will get booted off the Internet and I cannot connect again.
However I can still see the network I just cannot connect to it.
Also another problem I have noticed is that when in Network Setup Assistant it asks me for the password for the network, and I have entered this password many times in my life for my iPhone and for my other devices. And yet recently when I input the correct password (ive tried over 100 times) I get a message saying that the password is incorrect, when I know for a fact that I am putting the right password in.
If anyone could please help me I would be very grateful.

The Airport Extreme base station has 2 passwords, one for logging into the router, the other for your network access (assuming you have security switched on). Just make sure you are trying to enter the correct password (I know this sounds obvious and no offense is meant).
If you added the Extreme to your other router, make sure in Airport utility the Extreme is set to Bridge Mode, this will remove any incompatibility issues with 2 devices trying to obtain IP addresses from your ISP. Only one router should connect to your ISP, using password, username and relevant settings, the other is a bridge for your internal network allowing faster transfers between devices connected to say for example your extreme.
I have a Netgear DG834PN modem/router which is assigned control to connect to my ISP (as it is a modem, the Extreme Base Station isn't a modem). The Apple Extreme is connected through ethernet to the Netgear. I have all my 802.11g/b/a devices connected through the Netgear wireless network (2.4Ghz) and all my 802.11n devices connected through the Apple Extreme Base Station wireless network ('n' only @5Ghz). I also have my Mac Pro and my AppleTV connected through gigabit ethernet (through the Extreme ethernet). Everything works well. AppleTV and Mac Pro sync very quickly, my MacBook Pro connects to other computers or devices (AppleTV for streaming content) within the Apple Extreme network, wired or wireless, and allows fast transfer speeds, especially with no g/b/a devices slowing things up.
I also have a USB hub connected to the Extreme with USB printer attached and additional external storage connected, both available throughout the Extreme network to either wired or wireless devices.
It sounds a bit complicated but it is really easy to do.

Problems setting up my TC. Have just bought new iMac(OS 10.6.8) and  TC. I tried to set it up. iMac cannot find it. I have tried direct connection with an ethernet cable to Mac or direct to my wireless router but nothing. Just a flashing orange light. Help for a simpleton please. Have tried reseting TC, but to no avail.

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
    Hmm, ideas anyone?

  • Can no longer connect to networks

I have a C55D-B5242 and am suddenly having issues connecting to wireless networks. This worked fine until a few days ago and now will not connect. The only message it says is "can not connect". Trouble shooting does nothing.
Connected through an ethernet cable it works fine, but not wirelessly.
Win8 is fully up to date
Atheros Wirless Lan Driver (956x is the model I think) is up to date from the manufactuer's website
I have disabled and reenabled the hardware
I have "uninstalled" the network adapter and reinstalled
I have tried it plugged in (to check power setting)
    Routers have been reset
No settings on the PC have changed
Passwords for the routers are correct
Phones can connect to both networks with no problem (I have two wireless networks)
One strange part though is that I have two wireless networks, my main on and a VPN one. It will not connect to the main one at all, which is use to, but it will "connect" to the VPN network, but only a limited connection and won't do anything.
    Any ideas?

Change channels on your router, they default to channel 1 change to other channels and then try, channel 6 or 11 are suggested in high interference areas. Changing the channel should not hurt any other connections and you may find that you get a stronger signal and/or faster wifi. Just by changing channels my wifi signal went from 72 mbps to 150 mbps.
The other thing to try is the wifi security, wep, wpa, etc. Your laptop may not support your current security settings.

  • Using USB 2.0 Network Ethernet Adapter for sharing printer with 3 computers

    Hi all,
Opposed to using a print server, can I use a USB 2.0 Network Ethernet Adapter to connect my Epson printer over my ethernet DSL router?
    Thanks
    Web dude

Yea, I thought about an adapter for the USB 2.0 port, but for a few bucks more, get the USB 3.0 adapter and be able to connect to Ethernet at Gigabit speeds!
Since Lenovo has not commented on the absence of an Ethernet port, I'm guessing that the slim height of the Yoga prevents it, unless you go to some funky slide-out module and connect at a 90 degree angle (which would be a worse design).  I had an old Thinkpad (or Dell?) with that design, and they are intermittent and subject to being broken off.
Bundling in the Ethernet Adapter would have been a nice touch.  Perhaps they were trying not to increase the Yoga's "above market" price further.

  • Is there any cable adapter that would let my iphone connect to an ethernet connection or a way to share the ethernet connection from a mac to an iphone without being wireless?

I'm a tester and sometimes I need to test some applications on the Iphone, the company that I work for may get us one but only if we find a way to connect it to ethernet without being via wireles, since for the company politics it would be considered a risk of security

    No.
    Use the cellular data connection.
Set up a seperate wireless network that is completely seperate from the company network for Wi-Fi devices.

  • NAS drive-does it matter how connected to network?

I have a La Cie NAS drive connected via ethernet to my Speedtouch modem. The modem is connected by ethernet to Airport Extreme BS. There are 3 desktops and two laptops on the network. Does it make any difference if I were to connect the network drive to the WAN port of the Airport BS?

Not positive, but don't think the WAN port will work... isn't that where your Modem is plugged into?
