Connecting wi fi to a verizon router

how to hook a printer to a verizon router with the lion program

Two different things. Connecting the printer is either with wire, Ethernet cable, or Wireless to the router.
Once the printer is connect to the router then you need to set it up in the computer as a networked Printer.

    Hi Kailik Hunter,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps you can try if you're unable to sign in to your Apple TV and continue with setup:

If you are still having trouble, you can try to reset your equipment by unplugging Apple TV, your television, your wireless networking equipment or AirPort Base Station, and your router from their power outlet. Wait 30 seconds, then plug everything back in.

  • Cisco Linksys E1000 Connection to Verizon Router

OK here is the situation.  I spent two with a verizon tech on the following issue.
I have new PC, windows 7, that I have connected via wireless Trendnet 150Mbps Mini Wireless N USB Adapater. The spped is less than 5Mbps download and upload.  My verizon plan is 25Mbps.  In the end it was determine that the verizon technology is g format and the adapter is n technology. The computer directly hard wired to the verizon router gets 30Mbps speed.
Bought a Cisco Linksys E1000 N technology router to connect to the Verizon router.
Connected to router and could not get any internet even though the signal strength was extremely good.
Got any suggestion on how to get this to work.
I am dying with this problem,

When connecting the E1000 router to your fios one, i would use one of the 4 LAN ports and not the WAN port to make the Ethernet connection between the two. Then go into the router web page of the E1000 (192.168.1.X) and make sure that the DHCP server is disabled.
Now for your speed problem. Even with wireless G you should still be fine as it can tranfer much faster than 5Mbps. The problem could be that the Trendnet usb adapter has a pretty tiny radio and your connection slows way down as you move away from the the wifi source.

  • Windows 7/SBS 2003 Networking Issue complicated by Verizon Router

I posted on Answers.Microsoft.com ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/windows-7-suddenly-wont-talk-to-sbs-2003-server/e8116774-6b4f-44d3-91cf-b10df236805a?tm=1405553282721 ) and here at TechNet in the Windows 7 IT Pro
forum ( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1f8b8cbc-4b9d-4f68-981c-4c71e7a3f24a/windows-7-suddenly-wont-talk-to-sbs-2003-server-and-viceversa-possibly-dns-but-not-definite?forum=w7itpronetworking ) a problem that I was having with our Windows
7 computers suddenly losing connectivity to our SBS 2003 server. Someone posted an answer (rebooting our router), which worked, but only on a temporary basis. After turning off the router and turning it back on, we get connectivity back for about 3 days, then
we lose it again, and we have to reboot the router again.
I called Verizon, and the tech I spoke to claims that the problem is that the SBS 2003 server should not be the DNS and DHCP server for the network - the Verizon router should be. He's claiming that the fact that we have IP Address Distribution turned off
on their router means that the router never properly knows where each address is assigned. The fact that this all worked up until a week or so ago, and that it's only the Windows 7 machines that are affected, he doesn't have an answer for.
His suggestions were either A) turn off DNS and DHCP on the SBS 2003 server and have both run through the Verizon router, or B) assign static IP addresses to each machine. From what little I know (I inherited this system from someone who left little or nothing
in the way of technical notes) DNS and DHCP have to be running on the SBS 2003 server since it is a domain controller. B) seems possible, as long as I note the static addresses both on the server and on the router.
This still, however, does not really address the underlying issue. Somehow, I think there should be another, easier way to make this work. Especially since, as I said, these Windows 7 machines were content to run for about a year, and only in the past week
or two started having this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The LAN is all one subnet (it's not a very big office), a 192.168.1.X network.
I don't think the router's firmware has been updated recently, although I can't swear to what Verizon might have done "behind my back" (they do funny things with some of their routers, from what I can tell),
The router doesn't sit between the server and the clients - it only links our LAN and WAN (there's 1 port on the router hooked to the uplink port of a 16-port Gigabit switch which handles the LAN).
The router is the default gateway for all the systems on the LAN.
When the Windows 7 problem occurs, a Windows XP client can ping a Windows 7 client and vice versa, but a Windows 7 client can't ping the SBS server nor vice versa (and in all cases, I'm pinging numeric IP addresses, not the name). Since the SBS server is
the DNS server, the Windows 7 clients effectively lose the ability to go out on the Internet, although some programs that must cache the data (like Microsoft Outlook) seem to continue working so I think WAN access is still up for them.

  • How to create Windows 7 Homegroup with Verizon Router

I have a desktop and a laptop, both running Windows 7 (the desktop is running Windows 7 Home Premium, the laptop  is running Windows Ultimate).  With XP I had a nice network and could share printerhs, files, etc .
After I upgraded both machines from XP to windows 7 I cannot get the homegroup to create AND share.  I can create a homegroup on either machine, but in either case the other machine cannot see the home network.
Windows 7 says that Homegroup requires IPv6, but Verizon Routers don't support this protocol.  I have attempted, as noted on the internet, to disable IPv6 on both computers,  but this didn't seem to solve the problem.  I chatted with an Verizon tech support person who told me no IPv6 routers.
I am looking for suggestions on how to successfully network my computers with Windows 7 and my Verizon router.  (Actiontec M1424-WR).  We previously tried to put another router in the interface to do wireless and that didn't work.
    Thank you.

IPv6 connectivity needs to be enabled on the Windows 7 machines to support HomeGroup networking. Make sure you re-enable those. Once IPv6 is re-enabled, verify that the PCs are at least holding a Link-Local IPv6 address. Open up command prompt and type in "ipconfig" to verify it is holding something, first of all. It's also a good idea to make sure Teredo is in working order as well, as it's considered to be needed in order to use IPv6 on an IPv4 router.

  • Connecting Samsung 5500 TV to WI42WR router

    I bought a Samsung UN48H5500AF television.
I am trying to connect wirelessly to my MI42WR verison router.
The TV sees my wireless network, however when I attempt to join the network I am unable.
The setup asks for the router PW, but the error message says the PIN is wrong.  This mixing of terms is confusing.
I can connect to, and manage, my router through my PC. So its not a PW issue.
    Any help would be appreciated!

PIn would imply it things you are trying to connect via WPS which the Verizon version of the Actiontec router does not currently support.  Note the passphrase(sometimes called password) is normally a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.  Letters are case sensitive.
Pass keys are normally listed in Hexadecimal (i.e number 0-9,a-f) The a-f represent 10-15 in hexadecimal and are not case sensitive.

  • Connecting XBox 360 Live to Verizon netbook

I purchased an XBox 360 Live for my son for Christmas.  I cannot get it to connect. We originally had Verizon Wireless Broadband w/ an internal modem. I went and purchased a Verizon USB760 to get service and also a Cradlepoint Router from Best Buy. Neither of these have worked. Any suggestions?

Thanks. So what would be your advice?
Cable or DSL service, or Verizon FIOS if available.
Satellite will have latency problems as bad as or worse than mobile broadband.
As stated above, mobile broadband has issues with latency and with VERY low monthly usage caps compared to cable/DSL.  (Most cable/DSL providers institute throughput caps and not monthly usage caps but that's changing, however most that have caps now have set them high enough that only hardcore torrenters can hit them - e.g. I've heard 250GB thrown around as a number for Comcast.)

  • Can't get ip from verizon router to iMac over ethernet

I've got an MI424WR verizon router that is running wireless fine. I also have a Apple Airport Express connected to the Verizon router via ethernet that is running in bridge mode so I can have access to all of my other Apple wireless points and printers in my house. All of this works flawlessly over wireless.
If I plug my iMac into my ethernet cable and then attempt to plug into the back of the Verizon router, I can only get a self assigned IP address on my iMac over ethernet. I've tried many suggestions on the Mac side, from using a manual IP to trashing several prefence files in the system etc. I've also tried a factory reset on the Verizon router. Nothing is working to get the ethernet working to my iMac.
I'm beginning to think it could be a MAC address issue where the Verizon router is not passing or getting something from the iMac correctly, but I have not idea how to really dig into the Verizon router settings to check this out.
Verizon support is less that useless so I'm hoping some savy network folks out there may have some suggestions for me.
thanks for any help you can offer.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Finally a successfull update.
The crux of my problem was something to do with either the last upgrade to Yosemite or to how my Mac was loading startup items or both of these issues.
First, I confirmed that I could connect to the same ethernet cable with another Mac running one OS back from Yosemite. It connected instantly and the Verizon router passed it an ip address with no problem.
Next, I connected my iMac back to the ethernet and then booted my iMac into safemode and then made a new network location in the network prefs. I then turned off the wifi antennae and had the ethernet set to use DHCP. Renewing the DHCP lease still did not work, but once I rebooted again in safe mode with wifi still turned off, after about 5 minutes, the iMac was able to pull a working ip address from the verizon router.
All on the network side was working fine, but once I booted out of safe mode, my finder went into a horrific crash loop. After doing some cleaning of my system preferences and clearing out all startup items I am now back in business.
thanks to all who suggested ideas.

  • New Verizon router-'old' HP Photosmart 209a-m

We had to get a new Verizon router - it connected automatically with some of our printers, but not my Photosmart B209a - anybody who can shed light on this problem and give help - much appreciated!!!  Can't afford to buy a new printer - computer doesn't recognize router.  PLEASE HELP!

    Hi norsegal,
I understand you have a Photosmart B209a printer that is not connecting with your new Verizon router. I'm sorry to hear this hasn't been working but I will certainly do my best to assist you in resolving this issue.
Please follow the steps below and you should be able to get your printer back on the network.
    1. You will need the USB cable that came with your printer (or any printer USB cable) and the software CD (or the downloaded software)
    2. Insert the software CD into the computer and you should get a screen with an option to Connect New Printer or Add a Device
    3. Once you've clicked that it should ask you how you're connecting and you will say wireless.
    4. The on screen instructions will tell you when to connect the USB cable and when to disconnect it.
    5. Once you've followed the steps the information should be updated on your printer and you should be able to print via the wireless connection again.
Hope this helps, have a wonderful day!!

  • Help with Verizon Router and Setting Up a Second Wireless Router

I had my network set up until I had intermittent loss of the internet.  So I received a new Verizon router and I cannot figure out how to use the second wireless router which I used to have working just fine.
The new Verizon router is the Actiontec MI424WR and it is installed in my basement and the signal is weak.  However there is a cat5 wire snaked up from the Actiontec router to my home office.  Currently that is plugged into the back of my computer for internet acess.  My second router is the Trendnet 300Mbps Wireless N Home router.  ANd this is the router that I would like to use (and used to use) to trasmit the internet connection throughout the house as well as use for a wired connection to my home security system.
I attempted to plug the cat5 wire from the Actiontec into the back of the Nextrend router (1,2,3,4 and not the WAN) but then would lose the internet signal whether I attempted to log on via wired or wireless. Must be some kind of settings I need to change.
Can anyone help me to understand how to add the second router?  I am relatively computer literate but cannot understand the instructions from Verizon.  Thanks in advance.

  • Slingbox, Time Capsule and Verizon router setup

    So here is my setup:
Verizon router with wireless ON.  Time capsule set to share an IP address(not in Bridge mode).  This gives me the double NAT error message.
Sling catcher hooked into the Time capsule on one end and to the Slingbox on the other.
So, I hooked the slingbox up to the verizon router, configured it.  Then hooked the sling catcher to the TM and ran setup again.  Set up port forwarding per the instructions.  Things seem to work fine, although under the slingbox directory it says that I am not set up for internet viewing.
However, i CAN connect via wifi and over 3g on my iphone fine.  With WIFI, I am using my Time capule for wireless not the verizon wifi.  The last time I tried to turn off the verizon wifi i don't think the slingbox worked.  The last time I tried to set up the time capule under bridge mode the slingbox did not work.  If I am in bridge mode there is no option to setup port forwarding.
So I know that my setup is not correct but it is working.  The problem is the speeds.  I have a slingbox pro- getting about 1200-1400 kbs over the internet, and about 500-550 over wifi on the iphone.  I'm getting about 450-550 over 3g on the iphone.  This seems too slow.
    Any suggestions?

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Insure that the setting for Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update and allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart
    Very important......
Power off both the Verizon modem/router and the Time Capsule
    Wait a minute or two
Start up the Verizon modem/router first and allow it to run a full minute
Then start up the Time Capsule

  • DMZ on Verizon Router

I have a need to run a Point-to-Point VPN from my work office to my Home Office. For that I’ve enabled DMZ on Verizon Router and point it to my internal NETGEAR Firewall. Then I assigned DDNS Name to my Firewall and created VPN link to my work office firewall. Everything worked like a charm. However, in couple days after that I’ve lost On-Demand option and later whole Chanel Guide. When I call Verizon Support, tech who run diagnostics, told me that my wiring is bad (!). However, when I removed my firewall and reset the router to Factory Default, my Chanel Guide magically reappeared along with On-Demand. Is anybody has an answer for that? Verizon, looks like, does not have a clue.
    My Router:  MI424WR-GEN2 Firmware: 20.19.8

I connected my NETGEAR Firewall WAN Interface directly to the FiOS Router and my LAN Switch to the firewall LAN Interface. I assigned 172.16.X.1 for my FiOS Router LAN address and 172.16.X.2 for my firewall. Also, I left my internal LAN unchanged and assign default gateway Address to my firewall’s LAN Interface. Then I enabled DMZ on the router and point it to 172.16.X.2.

  • Install time capsule on a verizon router

How do I install a time capsule on a verizon router?

Do you have a Mac plugged by ethernet into the TC?
Let me suggest this is often much easier to do in isolation..
So pull the TC and plug it into a Mac.. Lan port of TC to the computer. No other connection on the TC.. turn off wireless so there is no other connection on the Mac.
Do a factory reset of the TC.. ie hold in reset before you power it on.. power on .. do not release reset for around 10sec until the front led flashes rapidly. Release reset.
Open the airport utility and setup the TC. put it in bridge. Set up the wireless with the names you want.
Update the TC and plug it back into the network.
    All should now work.
