Consle font settings change after reboot

Hello!
I just installed Arch from new medium and now everytime i restart my PC my terminal fonts evert back to defaults.
I set them to be Lat2-Terminus16 by adding code below in /etc/vconsole.conf:
KEYMAP=slovene
FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
FONT_MAP=
I have read here that there were some changes for fontconfig and i wonder how (if at all) they impact my situation, because
in a news it is said that: "Main systemwide configuration should be done by symlinks (especially for autohinting, sub-pixel and lcdfilter)"
cd /etc/fonts/conf.d
ln -s ../conf.avail/XX-foo.conf

Of course there is.
Rebuild your kernel image (refer to the mkinitcpio article for more info):
# mkinitcpio -p <name of your kernel preset; e.g. linux>
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mkinitcpio
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mk … activation
For the stock Arch Linux kernel, linux, this is done by running this command with root privileges:
# mkinitcpio -p linux
PS: The initramfs image (or images if you include the fallback image) is the one from the /boot folder. It's what loads before everything else is loaded. If you were booting into the LTS kernel, the preset would've been:
# mkinitcpio -p linux-lts

  • Sleep settings change after reboot

    Every time I reboot my Mac Mini it changes the sleep settings to 15 minutes. I change it back to "never" (I use my mini as a movie server for the house) but if I have to reboot the computer it changes back to 15 minutes. It also selects the "Put hard disks to sleep if possible" button. It also will occasionally just change the setting even when the computer as not been rebooted. But it does this every time it is rebooted.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Restart, open the application and test. Restart again to test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
    If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Portcost value changes after reboot on Cat OS

    here is the command on my switch

    after reboot have noticed many times.. the value changes to someother random value..
    Can any one explain whats the reason behind this..
    Thanks.
    Mahesh.

    Hi Mahesh,
    Howdy!!
    Can you please confirm that after reboot there is a change in path cost of port cost. As you have manually configured the port cost is should not change for that switchport but yes path cost may change after reboot as switch may found some other best path to reach the root bridge. All depends on topology and your network design.
    Just want to confirm when the switch is rebooted does the value you have configured in the command changes in your config or you are checking this with a "sh spantree" command?

  • [SOLVED] Console Font Not Retained After Reboot

    Hi, again.  Happy to report that I successfully installed Arch Linux last night, with no problems whatsoever.  Thanks to those who addressed my concerns.  Still reading up on the package manager, user and group management, etc.
    Anyway, one of the first things I noticed is that the console font gets reset after every reboot.  I need to manually type "setfont Lat2-Terminus16" - which works just fine, except for the annoyance in having to do that each time I boot up.  My /etc/vconsole.conf has the following:
    KEYMAP=us
    FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
    Following the solution described here:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155876
    I added 'consolefont' (without quotes) to the beginning (first item) of the HOOKS line in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.  Then I rebuilt the initramfs by typing "mkinitcpio -p linux".  Again, no errors during the rebuild.
    I've rebooted several times, but there's no change...  my selected console font is not retained.
    Can anyone point what I'm doing wrong, or offer ideas?  Thanks.

    Have you tried
    If the fonts seems to not change on boot, or change only temporarily, it is most likely that they got reset when graphics driver was initialized and console was switched to framebuffer. To avoid this, load your graphics driver earlier. See for example KMS#Early_KMS_start or other ways to setup your framebuffer before /etc/vconsole.conf gets applied.

  • Calendar Settings reset after reboot

    Hi,
    Could anybody please check if you have the same issue on your phone?
    Sony Calendar resets settings after reboot.
    For example, if I set "Week starts on" = "Monday" and reboot the phone, this settings will be back to "Sunday" (which is the default).
    I am now running Calendar 20.0.A.2.5, but I believe this bug was there before as well (even on my old Xperia V, I believe)
    P.S. I found this topic, but either I didn't understand the solution correctly or it doesn't work for me... I tried to disable the Calendar app, but it didn't help in any way...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I will forward this internally for further investigation. I will update you as soon as i have more information.
    But as a possible workaround, i suspect you have selected a country/region under Settings -> Language & input -> Language where the week normally is set to start on Sunday like English US? If you are in the Netherlands but want the phone on english you could try setting it to English UK instead to avoid this until i have more information.

  • ITunes settings lost after reboot

    I have a problem where after a reboot the settings of iTunes are back to default. For example:
    it loses the account for the Store (I have to re-enter email address and password);
    it loses the wifi sync settings for my devices
    it shows the iTunes tutorials screen, as if I'm starting iTunes for the first time
    settings under preferences are lost
    Other things are not lost:
    the library is still there;
    iTunes remembers the devices (when connecting it is handled as a known device) and knows what playlists/apps/.. to sync with it.
    Since I'm not rebooting my Windows 7 PC a lot, the problem is not occuring a lot, it doesn't keep me from using iTunes, it is just annoying. Now after rebooting I decided it's enough and I would post the issue (since I can't seem to find a comparable issue).
    Also worthwile noticing is that the problem is already there for some time, though I can't exactly pinpoint anymore when it started. Possible when iTunes 9 or 10 were realeased.
    Now I'm using:
    Windows 7 64-bit (completly up to date)
    iTunes 10.5.2.11
    Thanks for any help!

  • "Rendering: settings changed" after saving changes from Bridge

    I have LR 2.6 on my Mac.  I import RAW images through LR, let LR build 1:1 previews.  Once the import has finished & previews are built, LR moves from image to image fine.  I then do my basic edits, deletions, and do a batch renumber.
    Next I go to Bridge to make my adjustments in the RAW window without opening the files.  I go back to LR, save the changes, allowing the Bridge changes to overwrite the LR development import presets in the xmp files.
    It usually takes LR a while to save all the changes, but eventually it does it.  However, here is my issue.  No matter how much time I give LR to render new previews, I don't think it does, at least not until I go to Library mode double click an image to view larger (to fit the window).  When I go from image to image, it takes a few seconds while displaying the message "Rendering: settings changed..."  Now, this is not necessarily right after I save the changes, but it still happens weeks later- whenever I go to view those images.  Does LR not automatically re-render the previews after development changes have been made and saved to LR?
    And if not, how would I force LR to do it for that catalog, or for all my images?
    Thanks,
    R

    Robert Ripps wrote:
    A fair question- one, when I have tried, LR is way slower on my Mac G5 than doing it in Bridge, which is slow itself.  I just launched LR, had an open folder with 303 images in it which I had already rendered previews of, then clicked on Develop module- it took 13 seconds to go to that module & finish "loading".  Yes, a new commuter would solve many problems <g>, but until then....
    What you  may need is more RAM. Or do you have other applications working in the background 13 seconds to build a preview!!!!! Using a old Macbook with 1.2 GB RAM an it does it faster than that!LR doesn't require a lot of power from a machine...it does need as much RAM as you can stick in a machine and the fastest disks you can use...but if it is taking 13 seconds to build a single preview then it isn't really worth using IMO
    Why not make all you RAW adjustments in Lightroom Develop module. The raw processing engine is the same as ACR and you can choose "auto save changes to xmp" in the preferences.
    Ah, bingo.  That works, abet slowly (see above).  Okay, I will just have to remember to manually do that once I save changes to LR from xmp data.  I guess I thought LR would be smart enugh to do that itself, but I guess not.  And again, I find it faster to go back & forths, even with an extra step.
    LR can be set to automatically write any changes to xmp, it doesn't have to be done manually (set this in preferences) you just have the choice. It won't read changes made in other applications automatically as this would be a very bad idea..it would after all over write the LR database. So if you do want to over write the LR database you must activly choose to do so.

  • RV180 CSR is changed after reboot

    I find that RV180 changes its CSR (cert signing request) after a reboot. This causes my cert to fail to upload.
    Power up RV180
    Create a CSR
    View CSR (copy-n-paste into text file)
    Power down RV180
    Take CSR to Microsoft CA server to sign. Get cert in return.
    Power up RV180
    Upload cert. FAILED.
    Open CSR in RV180.
    Found CSR is different from that in step 3
    If I change the workflow, it works:
    Power up RV180
    Create a CSR
    View CSR (copy-n-paste into text file)
    Take CSR to Microsoft CA server to sign. Get cert in return.
    Upload cert. PASSED.
    Open CSR in RV180.
    Found CSR is same as that in step 3
    The only difference in the two workflows is reboot the RV180. All this is happening on firmware 1.0.3.10.
    On the out-of-the-box firmware 1.0.0.x, there is no issue.

  • Links to Folders on a external drive changed after reboot

    I've got the following problem:
    I've created some links to folders on a external (Firewire 800, Lacie 2big Quadra) drive in my Finder.
    At first glance they are working fine and looking good, listened under places.
    But after Reboot the links are changed to random files or folders on my usual Mac HD. The links pointing to folders on the internal HD are working fine!
    For example:
    before: "Work, Projects, Invoices" – after: "proloj.msd;italianWS;logqhrscv.ll"
    This happened (almost) everytime, so i can't really work with my places
    I tried to start the external drive up, before the Macbook starts, but no change.
    Is this a Finder bug or a problem with the external HD? Otherwise it's working very well. I heard some Rumours about the latest 10.5.6 Update and Problem with the finder?
    BTW - i got all updates from Apple

    It happened again – but now i got pictures
    After freshly adding the links:
    http://dort.entlang.com/before.png
    And after reboot:
    http://dort.entlang.com/after.png
    And the new links are not so random as it seems! "lpoptions.1.gz" is always the first entry.

  • [SOLVED] Permission for a file is changing after reboot

    I know it may seem to you like a silly question, but it's a terrible problem for me. I tried to change permission for a file using chmod 660 and it changed of course ( I did it as a root ), but after reboot it resumed to the previous state. It's rather critical file form /proc/acpi/video/... and I need it for brightness manipulation. It's a file with a direct access to my hardware, so I think there's somewhere protection mechanism in Arch and I don't know what should I change.
    Thanks in advance
    Last edited by Gooru (2010-10-25 17:43:03)

    Although this works, surely changing the permissions on every boot is a little backwards.
    As far as I'm aware it's permissions are set like that for a reason - it's a hardware control and as such should only be touched with privileged permissions (root). The 'real' way to do this would probably be to use sudo and set up the sudoers file such that you don't need to use a password as a regular user.
    That's just my two cents though... and if I'm honest, it's just me being really pedantic you can do it how you like!

  • Hwmon[0-3] not persistent, changes after reboot

    I have a problem with conky, which refuses to start because it can't find my hwmon sensors.
    ls /sys/class/hwmon/ -al
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2009-09-12 15:48 .
    drwxr-xr-x 37 root root 0 2009-09-12 15:48 ..
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-09-12 15:50 hwmon0 -> ../../devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0A08:00/device:03/ATK0110:00/hwmon/hwmon0
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-09-12 16:08 hwmon1 -> ../../devices/platform/coretemp.0/hwmon/hwmon1
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-09-12 16:08 hwmon2 -> ../../devices/platform/coretemp.1/hwmon/hwmon2
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-09-12 15:50 hwmon3 -> ../../devices/platform/w83627ehf.656/hwmon/hwmon3
    These symlinks seem to change after each reboot. So when I refer to hwmon3 sensor 2, this sensor might suddenly point to coretemp.0 instead of w83627ehf.656.
    Is there any way to make hwmon[0-3] always point to the same sensor? Thanks.

    coretemp.0 is the name of a directory in /sys/bus/platform/devices/
    temp = show the temperature
    1 = sensor number inside the directory coretemp.0
    ls /sys/bus/platform/devices/
    Lists all the sensors you can use. For example, if you want to use coretemp.0, you add the following to .conkyrc:
    ${platform coretemp.0 temp 1}
    So if you use:
    ${platform coretemp.0 temp 1}
    Conky will show the value of:
    /sys/bus/platform/devices/coretemp.0/temp1_input

  • SNMPv3 config changing after reboot

    Whenever one of my C2960's reboot, our Solarwinds monitoring stops working.  I found that this is due to one line of SNMPv3 config changing by itself.  This used to be in the config:
         snmp-server group XXX v3 priv access permit-snmp
    (permit-snmp being the access-list defining ip addresses allowed to query)  After the reboot, snmpv3 stops working and this line shows up in the config instead of the one above:
         snmp-server group XXX v3 priv notify *tv.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF.FFFFFFFF7F
    Is this a bug?  (I did check the bug database, without success.)  I have upgraded the IOS to 12.2(53) SE2 without any success.  The switch is a C2960-24TC-L.

    I had the same problem and believe the issue is that you probably have a trap server configured and are using the same snmp-server group for the trap server and your queries. I created another group for SNMPv3 queries and the configuration no longer seems to get overwritten. Here's what I did.
    Go into config mode and create a group just for the trap server - let's call it TRAPS. I used priv and it looks like that's what you use. Don't worry about defining any MIB views as this group will automatically populate the notifyview once the trap servers below are added to the config. (...and will remove the readview and writeview entries after reboot - that's why a second group is needed). Remove your old trap server entries and set up the new trap server using the new group called TRAPS.
    snmp-server group TRAPS v3 priv
    snmp-server host version 3 priv TRAPS
    Now create another group for queries only - (let's call it QUERIES but you could just use your current group XXX since it's already set up) - I like the v1default MIB view for both reads and writes but you can limit the MIBs with the snmp-server view command. I am using md5 and des56 here - your case may be different - and set up the user (or keep the one you already have configured)
    snmp-server group QUERIES v3 priv read v1default write v1default access
    snmp-server user QUERIES v3 auth md5 priv des56
    Exit and check the config.
    The group TRAPS should have the notifyview set. The group QUERIES should have the readview and writeview set to v1default (or whatever view you chose to enter here). The two SNMPv3 groups should look like this:
    #sh snmp group
    groupname: TRAPS                            security model:v3 priv
    readview :           writeview:

    If all is well - write the config. You should now be able to perform a coldstart without losing your SNMPv3 config.

  • MSI Control center windows 8.1 fan settings reset after reboot.

    I wanted to see if anyone has any information about this. I have a z77a-gd65 motherboard running windows 8.1 and I have saved profiles for cpu fan and sys1/sys2 fans. After reboot the fan curves get reset to factoy defaults.
    I didn't have this problem with windows 7 and am running the latest version of Control Center.
    Is there a fix for this?  Thanks in advance.

    I actually did find a response from MSI in a random query.
    They said, 'CC is used for temporary changes, use the bios'.
    Which I can see the validity of that statement, but at the same time, what if you want to adjust things to a finer degree than the bios and want it applied after restart?
    I know you can save and load individual pages of the Command Center, but still..
    I do find it VERY irritating I can't set fan speeds lower than 50% for the System Fans. (or is there a way to do this?)
