Consolidation as per Equity Method_SEM-BCS

Hi Experts,
I am doing consolidation as per Equity Method. I am using Additional financial data for Investments and Equity.
However, when I execute C/I task I get an error message saying that Investments are missing for activity 01 in  Investee unit combination. I have already entered Investment and Equity and also done the matching of Investment and Equity.
Also it is calculating one more activities as step acquisition. However no document is posted either for First Consolidation or Step Acquisition.
Can you please suggest !

Thanks Halim,
I am not using consolidation unit combination. It is only Legal Consolidataion. However, I have fixed the problem by changing the master data of consolidation unit. I have enabled FCEP.
I have one more question. Do I have to run Consolidation Group Change Task also when I am switching from Equity method to Purchase method for Associate companies?
When I am changing from Equity to Purchase method all the previous C/I postings are reversed, but the profit of Associates which was already accounted by holding company in the previous period is transfered to Net Income-Method Change and second effect is given to Goodwill (GW is enhanced).
Hence, post change of method, when I upload TB of Associate, the Net Income is not eliminated to the extent of the profit Adjusted on account of Method change.
Please suggest,
Thanks,
USR

    1. CONSOLIDATION SEM BCS AND CONSOLIDATION
         EC CS.
    2. under what circumstances each SEM BCS  or  EC CS will be used.
    3. if possible plz give an example or a scenario.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
BCS is Business consolidation and Simulation and EC CS is Consolidation and Simulation in ECC 6.0 BCS is entirely out side R/3 and EC CS is R/3, here they have included some features in R/3 for consolidation and at the same time BCS is out side R/3 and has more features....while taking the reports then you take help of BW... end of the day you will get the data from R/3 even for BCS also...
    Hope understood

  • BCS regional consolidation reporting

For a company headquartered in US , the consolidation is done as per USGAAP rules
However there is regional consolidation needs to be done for :
    Japan
    Europe
    China
What is your experience on regional consolidation reporting requirement. Is all consolidation function such as COI function to be done for regional consolidation also.  If there any fiscal year variant change requirement, how it is addresses.

    Hi Mani,
when you say region consolidation do you mean consolidation as ler local GAAP or do you mean consolidation rollup by region.
IF you mean regional consolidation rollup . The BW heirarchies can handle this or can be handled in report itself with attributes of the company. The regular COI function will take care of it also.Fiscal year variant will be ar driven by parent company in this case.
If you mean regional consolidation as per local GAAP then it is different ball game .
    Let us know.
    Thanks and best regards

  • BPC 10.0 - Equity Pickup?

    Dear All,
In BPC 10.0, there is a new feature called Equity Pick-up. What is it used for? I can google about this. But, I would like to hear(authentic) from you - professionals, on the practical usage of it.
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    Peri

    HI Peri,
Equity Pickup is consolidation of Investment method required for Parent company reporting. This was introduced to comply with banking entity consolidation requirement. EPU performs consolidation at trading partner level instead of scope.
Please check this link. It shows various scenarios and step-by-step process.

  • COI Equity method...

Have scenario where A is has invested in 45% in B. It is consolidated under equity method. But both are group companies in the SAP instance and both company financial data is brought to BCS cube…
when I read the equity statement rule … following is mentioned in help.sap.com
‘’ If an investee unit is consolidated using the equity method, then its individual financial statement data is not included in the consolidated financial statements’’
Does this means that we should not consolidated B  in the consolidated financial statement and ignore it in reporting? But company B is also the same SAP system..?
What is the step to be followed in consolidation in this regard...
    Help /Answers  appreciated..

    Hi Venkat,
If we are talking about associated companies (equity method), not about joint ventures (proprtional method), then it's really one-line consolidation.
You don't need all FS from the associated company. And very often one simply doesn't have it.
Actually, there is one entry that should be done in each period for equity method accounted companies:
    Group's or mother company entries:
    Dr Investments in associated companies
Cr Share of profit from associated companies.
In BCS you may do it in two ways:
    1. Handle associated companies as a part of the group, entering for those companies only equity item amounts that trigger automatic recalculation of the Group's net profit (consequitive consolidation).
    2. Do not have those companies in the Group's hierarchy, do not maintain any data input from them. Just make a manual entry I mentioned earlier. In this case you do not need equity method settings. Everything is done manually. Sometimes it's preferred method. You put into the system the figures really provided by the associate, not calculated amount that may not be equal to those figures provided by associate later.

  • Consolidation: What to use?

    Hi all,
    Hope this finds everyone well.
In any case, we are in the midst of design phase now with the view of running on ECC 6.0.
While BI is part of the project scope, BPC or BCS is not.
We have a requirement to perform both statutory and management consolidation.
We are planning to utilise a non-leading ledger in the New GL to provide us with the consolidation of a each company code.
As for group/corporate consolidatation (all combined company codes), we are unsure as to what will the best solution be to perform consolidation.
Per the advice from our consulting team, we can use BI to perform consolidation.
    A few questions:
    1. It is true that BI can handle consolidations?
    2. How can BI perform the consolidation?
While we realise that BPC maybe the better alternative, it is unlikely that it will be implemented.
Thank you in advance for your responses,
    Richard

    Hi,
All SEM components are based on BI. The transaction data processed by Consolidation is written to the BI system, which means that the BI system represents the primary data basis for all SEM components. This enables you to directly exchange data between individual SEM components without the need for interim steps or for special objects for exchanging data in BI.
The Consolidation component provides functions to collect master data and individual financial statement data from data files from non-SAP systems as well as SAP systems.
Data from transactional SAP systems (for example, FI-GL) that has been loaded into BI can be transferred as reported financial data to the Consolidation component.
Furthermore, you can load reported financial data from transactional SAP systems directly into SEM BCS without a prior extraction into BI storage.
for more information you can check the following link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/62/f7e73ac6e7ec28e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Hope this helps you.

  • Table Balance Carry Forward per Trading Partners

    Dear all,
Currently, I need to build a report that list detail Trading Partners per G/L Account transactions and per equity type also.
But I have a problem in retrieving amount Balance Carry Forward per Trading Partners.
I have checked through Table JVTO1 but it only retrieve total Balance Carry Forward and cannot be detailed per Trading Partners.
Could you please advice me any tables for Balance Carry Forward that can be detail listed by Trading Partners (or can be linked to Trading Partners)?
    Thank you!
    Thanks,
    John

We faced the same issues before and we had 2 environments i) still on R/3-GLT0 ii) with New GL -FAGLFLEXT . On the R/3 environment we created a new Special Purpose Ledger and activated the summary updates only key fields- sort of like an extended version of GLT0. The R/3 environment worked quite well.
Whereas on the New GL we thought it was working but it seems we need to activate and Assign Scenarios and Customer Field to Ledgers using Scenario FIN_CONS(filed RASSC) and assign to ledger 0L.
The problem that we had with New GL-FAGLFLEXT was that unlike Special Purpose Ledger we are not able to recalculate and repopulate the field RASSC Trading partner since it was a std table. Therefore if you want to look at historical postings then this solution will have this drawback , it can only keep track of future updates of RASSC-Trading Partner in FAGLFLEXT.
We tried to activate the Special Purpose Ledger in NewGL but it was not easy due to the Doc Splitting rule and a hosts of other OSS notes that need to be tested and implemented. Good luck trying to implement Special Purpose Ledger in NewGL.

  • SEM-BCS without carry forward

    Hi all,
Has someone configured SEM-BCS without the carry forward task.
And can you share the pros and cons of doing this?
    Thanks, Alvin

Thanks Greg, Dan, Thibaud for your responses. he are very much appreciated.
I wanted to attract some debate/discussion on the matter. Personally, I am not convinced that carry forward is not used.
However a bit more context. My client is using SAP PBF and PBF can pass on Opening balances to BCS.  BTW this relates to budgets more than actuals.
There are the usual related party eliminations and possibly consolidation of investments so that BCS can deal with them in a variety of reporting hierarchies.
    Other requirements include
    - budget may be increased/decreased 2-3 times a year
    - these increases/decreases are captured as adjustments for the relevant period. This changed budget (sometimes for the same fiscal year) is the authority for spending
    - there are 4 years of estimates (say Est1, Est2, Est3, Est4 representing each future year) and they do not roll on to each other.  In other words, Est1 do not roll into est 2 and est 2 do not roll into est 3 and so on.  Rather est 1 roll into est 1, est2 into est 2, either in the same fiscal year or the next fiscal year (it sounds confusing hence I hesitated to put that with my initial question)
So far, based on other conversations, I have gathered the following:
    - Not generally done in BCS where opening balances are required
    - Documents posted in the previous year will not inverse
    - Consolidation adjustments relating to previous years will have to be re-posted in current period. Flexibility to report these adjustments for a particular period will be lost.
    - Additional items/subitems will be required for opening balances, as compared to opening balances captured in period 00,
    - Many BEx reports (probably some reclasses and allocations) that are looking for the beginning balances in the period 000 will start malfunctioning.
    - Copy Tasks (this will used for different consolidation versions) may end up with incorrect data if they require previous period results
    - Not being able to close book for the year?
    Anymore input would be appreciated.
    Cheers, A

  • Consolidation

    Hello all ,
Please clarify me that my clients declares plant wise balance sheet to legal authority and they need separate balance sheet as they maintain the will have two company code but they also want consolidated balance sheet for two company codes , i have suggested to have one business area which would assign to the company codes for balance sheet report.
They have two diff. chart of a/c also.
can we track the balance sheet of consolidation on basis of business area ?
Because on the basis of chart of a/c we can traco report separatly.
    Suggest
    points will be rewarded.

    Hi Prem
Matrix consolidation is possible using SEM - BCS and we are doing the same for similar requirement
For more information on the same, a seperate forum is availabel in our community network
But i doubt its possible without using SEM
As in R/3, your consolidation is a single form consolidation and which will work with your company code
    Warm Regards

  • Consolidation monitor

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem with the consolidation monitor. The standard BCS content was activated and the customization was completed. When i run the consolidation monitor, there is no hierachy displayed but the sequence of task heading columns are there.  is there any thing that I missed from consolidation workbench? The master data for the consoloidation unit is created in BCS.
    Appreciate your help and time.
    Thank you.

    hi Eugene,
    Thank you for the suggestions.
    - ConsUnits hierarchy.-> This is checked and it is defined in Work bench..
    - Tasks hierarchy with tasks assigned.-> Tasks hierarchies are created and respective methods are assigned. Here my question is, should i need to assign the task methods to consolidation units during the customization process? If yes where shall i do it please?
    - You are trying to see the monitor in the same version and year/period.-> yes this has been checked already
    - Cons frequency for versions combinations is set.-> Yes
Actually I am able to see the tasks in the column headings but not the cons unit hierarchies. This seems to be very strange issue. Any suggestions will be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Consolidation reporting...

Consolidation function is executed in BCS system and COI functionality is being used. To enable to continue the legacy ''business objects'' reporting the consolidated BCS data will be send to another datawarehouse system.
What is the pros and cons using different warehouse system with business objects for final consolidated reporting.
    Inputs are really appreciated...

    Hi Eugene,
Thanks. I will post it in Business Objects forum also.
But the situation is that BCS consolidated data will be send to another datawarehousing tool in which business objects is installed for reporting. Business Objects is not installed in BI.
BCS reports created /executed using virtual cube can understand all the consolidation logic such IU elimination, COI .
But will it be the same situation in the seperate datawarehousing system where Business object is used. Eugene, Dan. Pease let me your specific inputs on this...
As I understand in BCS 6.0 as of now SAP has not released the BO pacakage still.
Customer is already used to Business Objects and keen to use this for consolidated reporting, hence this situation.

  • During consolidation cpu goes 100%

    Hi,
During consolidation CPU is going 100%.
can you suggest me some performance tuning tips to improve the performance.
    HFM 9.3.1.2 Build.

If you are concerned about the processor utilization AND you cannot simply upgrade your hardware AND consolidation time is not an issue for you, then the following registry changes may be for you :
Key Tree,     Key Name,     Key Type,     Min Value,     Max Value,     Default Value,     Unit of Measure,     Description
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     MaxNumConcurrentConsolidations,     REG_SZ,     1,     8,          Consolidations,     Controls the nubmer of concurrent consolidations allowed per application server. Any consolidations executed above the value are queued as Scheduled Consolidations.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     NumConsolidationThreads,     REG_SZ,     1,     8,          Threads,     Controsl the multi-threading of consolidatiosn per application server. Lowering the value limits the system's utilization of system resources, resulting in slower consolidation performance.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\Running Tasks,     NumConsolidationsAllowed,     REG_SZ,     1,     20,     8,     Consolidations,     Controls the number of conslidations allower per application across all the application servers.
