Constant Bombardment of Certificates

Lately I've got nothing but constant pop ups from Safari and Mail about certificates and their identities. I don't understand where all of this is coming from and I don't know why it's just started. I've gone in and deleted most of my keychain to start fresh, repaired the Keychain, Repaired Permissions on the disk, trashed my Safari .plist file and I still can't get the computer to stop asking me every time I log into something! Please help...

The reason why structures cannot be folded as long as debugging is enabled is simple:
Constant folding replaces code in the compiled version of the VI with constants (hence the name). That means that a complete structure would be replaced with a single constant for the compiled code.
If debugging is enabled, it is possible (though maybe not likely) that the user wants to set a break point into that structure or use highlight execution to observe the execution of it. If the structure would have been replaced, that would not be possible....
The for loop with auto-indexing output of the iterator is the best example:
Using a constant for N, the loop can be replaced with an array constant of {0, 1, 2, ..., N-1}. But only as long as debugging is disabled.
If enabling debugging, highlight execution has to display the execution of the loop, so it must not be replaced.
Another option for NO constant folding of for loops like above is to use a computation (depending on values not known during compilation) or control to define N. The reason is that the length of the array is not known during compile time so no constant can be created for it....
hope this helps,
Norbert

  • Multi Display since upgrade

Sadly i succumbed to Microsoft's constant bombarding for a free windows 8.1 upgrade and am now kicking myself.
    I have a HP110-052ea Desktop PC now running windows 8.1, 64bit mode
Before updating i was happily running 2 monitors and a connection to my tv now i can only run 1 and it is not like the system doesnt know there is more than one connected.
when i start up my digital monitor starts up until the point when windows starts to display the splash screen it then switches to the avi monitor.
I used to be able to go to display settings and arrange monmitors and telly how i want but now i do not have the option it says i only have one monitor.
The telly is connects via a USB dongle and always worked well and whilst it recognises it in device manager it will not allow me to display on it
I have tried downloading the latest drivers from site but still no joy they have made no difference
Device manager tells me graphic device is working correct but it is yellow flagged
    can anyone help ?

    Hello again @Tonynash,
I suspect that there may be more that went wrong than just your display. I am going to recommend that you do a backup and full factory recovery of your computer. This will fix your restore feature as well as the tools partition that is also not working. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Brendan didn't have to leave Mozilla - we would like nothing better than to rehire Brendan. In fact, we didn't want him to leave in the first place. However it was his personal decision to resign among all this ongoing frenzy, threats and mischaracterization of him as a person and the Mozilla community coming from third-parties, in order for the constant bombardment to end and to avert any further damage to Mozilla and its mission that he helped build for so many years.
So in this sad process we have lost a co-founder and brilliant technical mind and now the "other side" of the political spectrum comes along, again quite misinformed and rushing to judgement. • IPhoto 11 Upgrade/Transfer Issue

    Hi there,
I have just bought a new iMac and migrated over all of my content from my old MacBook where i had my Photo library installed on an external drive. This included an upgrade from Photo 9 to 11 and I installed the 9.1 update first as well.
The problem comes from the linking. When I originally started with iPhoto I imported pics into my library but had them sitting in two other folders, then after a while I put new pics straight into iPhoto itself so they were going directly into that folder.
All fine and this worked well, the problem now is since this move and upgrade all the links to the ones sitting in other folders are broken even though they still appear seemingly correct as links in the iPhoto/Masters directory. I cannot see a way of knowing exactly how many pics have broken links - it is thousands - and I can't see a way of fixing these links that is not the painfully slow one at a time method. Even this is a lot harder than it should be as I am getting constant bombardment of messages of Files Not Found for ones I am not even working on.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Craig

I had similar issues to those mentioned here after moving my iPhoto '09 library from an iMac to a MacBook and then upgrading the library to iPhoto '11. What I had forgotten to do before the upgrade was also copy the referenced folders where many of my older pics were.
I had to go through a painstaking process of fixing the records in the RKMaster table. The problem you are getting, I believe, is because iPhoto '11 no longer uses the file aliases that iPhoto '09 used. What it does instead is store the location of the referenced file in the BLOB column fileAliasData in the RKMaster table. If you use SQLiteManager you can save the contents of a BLOB column to a file, which in this case is in plist format. Inside the plist you'll see a key called FileAlias with some base64 encoded data. That data points to where the original file is/was, which probably has a reference to your old server.
The only solution I found was:
    - copy all my referenced images to the folder structure under Masters in the iPhoto Library folder
    - put the correct path in imagePath in RKMaster
    - set fileIsReference = 0 and fileAliasData = null in RKMaster so that iPhoto now treats the file as managed, and not referenced.
Note, that if a file is under the Masters folder structure, the path in imagePath must be relative to the Masters folder. For example, if the image file is in /Users/kevin/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2008/Christmas/img001.jpg then what you need to put in imagePath is just 2008/Christmas/img001.jpg. iPhoto assumes this is under the Masters folder for non-referenced images.
Incidentally, you can use the steps above to convert any referenced files in your library to managed, allthough it's pretty tedious. I did it, and it was worth it as I now have my entire iPhoto Library inside the iPhoto Library folder which is completely transportable.
There are 2 things which Apple could have done a lot better:
    - if you're upgrading an old iPhoto library, it should warn you if some of the files are unavailable, because you won't find out about it until you try to edit one of the files (the thumbnails are still there), by which time it might be too late to recover the old files
    - there should be an option for consolidating an iPhoto Library which is a mixture of managed and referenced into the iPhoto Library folder to be completely managed, just as iTunes lets you do for music.

I keep getting annoying windows that open up everytime something comes through gmail.
Are these notifications letting me know that this stuff is being downloaded to my computer?
Everytime I click on something to create or send an email it asks whether I want to use icloud or gmail...what a hassle...
Anyone have a workflow  so I can just have GMAIL my mail email use for sending stuff from my computer but only use gmail to check email when I log in to GMAIL through safari...

    Yes I  have done that.
I just want to GMAIL to integrate into my computer, but when I have GMAIL account enabled i start seeing all this notification of 10s of thousands of GMAILs and can't figure out if this being mirrorred so I can see it or if ALL that is being downloaded to my computer; the constant bombardment of notifications was driving me mad.
So, a few months ago I disabled GMAIL cuz I couldn't figure out that simple thing and ENABLED the mail for icloud.....
So now since MAIL is more readily integrated on our MACs but any email reply opens in MAIL...I have to fill in the reply to email which is my GMAIL account and so on....otherwise everything goes to yet another email account at icloud...geeeeez louieeeeezeeee

  • Mozilla forced Brendan Eich out so I've dumped Firefox. How do I tell them this?

Mozilla's obvious disregard for the First Amendment in forcing out Brendan Eich has left me with no alternative but to eliminate Firefox from my 4 home computers, 2 laptops and 2 servers, as well as recommend to all my clients they remove it from their systems. By showing your contempt for all us that support traditional marriage you display a highly intolerant and hateful corporate atmosphere.
I have been recommending Firefox for years. Looks like it's time for Chrome.

  • Allergy from using any apple product with alumminim casing

I have develpoed allergy on two of my fingers where I touch my MacBook pro. It is started after I bought my first macbook pro.  I persisted thinking it is due to something else.  However, I stayed a way from the mac and my allergy disaapeared.  I then covered it with adhessive plastic and then with palstic case but still give continuous outbreak.  I used ipad and did the same to it but again I has terrrible allergies with fingers that are in the vicinity of my covered ipad  and MAcbook pro.  Then I shifted to Vaio and my finger got better.  I thought Ok let me get iphone 4 and put a leather cover on it.  Again my allergy came back.  It is interesting that iphone 3 did not give me problems.  I think there something in the brushed aluminum that coats macbook pro, ipad and iphone 4.  Please I need some help.  I think apple should produce products with other matrials so we can all enjoy the product.  I think for now I am going to toss all of the apple products.  They are Macbook pro, iMAc 27 inch, ipad and ipad2, and iphone 4.  It seems that apple is insensitive to clients requests.  I found that many people have the same problems.

Actually, the issue is not moot as more and more people are becoming affected. I am a long time Apple customer, starting with my first Macintosh in 1986. Believe me, the last thing on my mind is to complain about Apple products.
That said, I was diagnosed a few months ago with Dyshidrosis (also known as dyshidrotic eczema, pompholyx, podopompholyx, cheiropompholyx, acute vesiculobullous hand eczema, or just simply hand eczema). This condition causes small, itchy blisters on the hands (and sometimes also the feet). The skin becomes very thick and cracks. As soon as any of the blisters begin to clear up, several more reappear overnight. I experience a constant bombardment of blisters on the palms of my hands. Nothing over the counter or prescribed by a dermatologist has cleared up the problem.
One of the common triggers of dyshidrosis is an allergic reaction to nickel.
While I cannot be certain that I developed this condition after using my Mac laptops for so many years, the pattern of the breakouts on my hands match with my normal habit of where I rest my hands. My right hand is less affected than my left hand. I have noticed that my right hand is lifted up more often as I move around the keyboard and trackpad. During that time, my left hand palm is resting flat on the Mac's aluminum body.
To be honest, I cannot imagine not using my Mac so I'm going to do my best to cover all parts of it using one of the recommended products out there, such as possibly the InvisibleShield or BodyGuardz full body covers. I understand I must also cover my iPhone and iPad with full body protection.
I very much hope as the news of more and more people developing nickel allergies from the many electronic devices we use each day, Apple will offer products with bodies that do not contain nickel. It seemed like such a good idea at the time, but the long-term consequences are proving to do more harm than good.
The only way people can become educated about the nickel allergy is for those of use who are affected to speak up. Dismissing our comments simply because you are not affected does not make it a non-issue. There once was a time when I was not affected, as well. Now I am. Who's next?
It's also important that others know of the connection between electronics with nickel and the development of allergies to nickel. It is likely that people are dealing with this condition without knowing of the connection. The first step to finding a solution is to find the cause.
If you are not familiar with this problem, google dyshidrosis (or any of the alternative names) with Apple, Macintosh, computers, and so on. You'll find a lot of others now suffering from the condition and the link with Apple (and any other brand using nickel) products. I wish I had known before it happened to me. I would have taken more precautions. Now all I can do is figure out the best way to deal with it.

  • Notifications to replace my batteries

I am annoyed at the constant bombardment of notifications telling me that I need to change batteries on my wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad.  They seem to come up more than once an hour, and I've been using my keyboard for about two weeks since the first notification came up and the battery level is still okay.  Is there a way to turn off these pop-up notifications without turning off all the other notifications, especially from my calendar?  FWIW, I have an iMac with Mavericks 10.9.2.

Yep, super annoying as I get at least another 2 months out of the battery.  Two months of constant reminders.
Surely there must be a way to stop this?  Or at least to modify it's behaviour so that it only comes up when down to 5% and only reappears once per day?

is there a way of wiping ALL Safari data, i.e. restoring Safari ? I think my Safari has a virus..as every time I open it, a web page called 'search quick' comes up. Its bombarded my Safari with constant pop up adverts almost every time I click!

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.
