Continuously update time stamp on main panel

Hello,
I am trying to continuously update/show the time stamp based of a fixed starting point. I made a SubVI, to accomplish the task, however, how can I go about using this subVI into a main program? Alternatively, how can I continuously update the timestamp on the main VI?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why you want to read time stamp from Subvi. If you’re not doing anything in subvi (except time) then there is no use. You can simply update your time in Main VI ( as per my previous post).
Please check this VI. I hope this will help you.

No update time stamp in the saved data file

In NI Example Finder, there is a file called "Fieldpoint Datalogger.vi". I flip the "Time Format" switch to "HH:MMS" and the "File Type" switch to "Spreadsheet". The data saved into a file have time stamp at each line. However, the time stamp in each line of the data file saved as the same time without any update to the most current time. I put sampling frequency for 100 ms and saved as 50K bytes file size, but all the time stamps in the file show one same time (I believe it is the time to start to save into file and keep repeat it). How can I get the update time stamp for every 100ms or 500ms and save that time stamp into the data file from this "Fieldpoint Datalogger.vi"? Should I change anything on the subVI called
"embedded FPLog.vi"?

Hello,
Fieldpoint systems usually base the timestamp on the National Instruments Time Server, which is installed on any computer using the Fieldpoint driver. This means that you can configure the Time Server on a Fieldpoint system to continuously check the system time of any computer on the network that has the Fieldpoint Driver installed by referencing its IP address.
If the timestamp is not updating, then we should first verify that it has been configured properly.

BP - update time stamp

Hi,
Is there any BADI to identify when (date & time) the master data field updated individually.
Example: "ABC" company is having 2 user interfaces to update the Master Data a) CRM Call Centre and b) Disconnected Mobile Client (Mobile Client will down load the full customer master data from CRM, before Sales Professional goes to market). In Mobile Client disconnected mode Sales Professional can update customer master record, updated full customer master record will be loaded back to CRM in every 3 days. Example - for customer "X" Sales Professional changed contact number (eg: old contact number = 1234 and changed to = 2345) on 2009/09/17 at 10:00 am, which will be uploaded back to CRM on 2009/09/20 at 10:00 am. Customer "X" called ABC's Call Centre on 2009/09/18 at 14:00 and requested to update his new contact number (old contact number = 1234 to new contact number = ABCD, which could be different from the one he requested with Sales Professional). Problem is when the data uploaded from disconnected mobile client - will over ride the contact number from ABCD to 2345, even if I upload full record or only changed field. How can I set the system to check the each field updated date and time to compare with the date and time of each field uploaded from disconnected mobile client??? and keep or update the customer master record with latest field value(s)....

How do you make a time stamp update?

I am programming an interface to a scale... it retrieves a weight, time stamps it, enters a comment, then sends this string to a spreadsheet.
My problem: the time stamp never updates unless I right click it > select "data operations" > select "set time to now". Then it's stuck there and never updates while the program is running. It just keeps on stamping 8:15 (or whatever time it is updated to) all day long.
Am I using the wrong VI here or is there something else I have to select to get it to work?

Try using the 'Get Date/Time String' or 'Get Date/Time Seconds' vi to obtain your timestamp. Which one you use depends on how you wish to format your timestamp. Im not sure which vi you are currently using, but it looks to me like you are either using a timestamp constant (which wont update in your loop) or control (which you need to manually update from the front panel).

Hi, All. I want include the time stamp (yyyy-mo-dd-min-sec) in the file name. However, the value of the time stamp does not update automatically/synchronizes with the computer clock at each new run. I need to do it manually with the right click and update the time to the current.
How can I solve this? Thanks a lot in advance.

What does this have to do with NI counter/timer hardware?
What language are you using and what function are you using to get a timestamp? If the language is LabVIEW, then all you need is Get Date/Time in Seconds. If you are using a front panel Time Stamp control, then you are using the incorrect function.

Time stamp is not getting updated for File Adapter in communication channel

Hi All,
Since yesterday, I am observing that the time stamp of communication channel for File adapter is not gettingupdated some times.
I had to stop and start the communication channel to update the time stamp.Please let me know if anyone has come across such issue or any useful notes on this.I could not find any related notes on Market place.

This is happening only with one communication channel which is sender in derection.Any reason why it is happening like this?since the restart of the communication channel it is getting update now.I really do not know how to delete/create the communication channels as this was done our PI consultants.Pls guide me.

Folders last modified time stamp are not updated in Windows 7

After changing any .cpp file in Visual Studio, the last modified time stamp for the file's folder
IS NOT updated. What's happening ?
However when I change a Word (.docx) file, the last modified time stamp for the file's folder
IS updated ! How come ?

If you thought this issue gets worse and if you have already set NtfsDisblesLastAccessUpdate to 0, then please revoke it to 1.
From the above Blog we can see that in Windows 7, the "Last Modified" field on log files is not updated when a program attempts to open the file or the utility is stopped, this is a design change to NTFS , becase we cache the metadata for
folder contents and do not refresh it until a handle is closed on an open file or an explicit call is made to retrieve the properties of an individual file.
Per your current issue that even if you closed these Vistual Studio files, the timestamp still didn't update. Please try the following and check whether any of them work:
- open the file in a second program
- view the proprties of the file
- "dir <filename>" at a command prompt
In addition, if you edit these Vistual Studio files with Notepad(Before doing that, please close all the programs include Vistual Studio) and try to reproduce the issue, does the issue still occur?

CDHDR table entry updation with different Time Stamp

Hi Experts,
I'm changing the Contract Partner First Name. The time stamp updation in Change Document Object DEBI is with UTC but the BUPA_BUP Object with Local Time Stamp.
We want both time stamp with the UTC.
Time Zone mentioned at SPRO level is UTC.
Have anyone faced such situation earlier?

Ist FM uses table TBZ4 that uses GUI.
Probably this is the reason you view object BUPA_BUP in the table with GUI time.

HT201336 Why isn't Apple time-stamping these updates?

Time-stamping during code signing ensures that the signed files are still verifiable after certificate expiration.
Apple is doing this with software distributed for Windows (e.g., QuickTime, iTunes, etc.), so why not for updates for the Mac OS?
Of course, for its Windows software, Apple seems to be using a code-signing certificate issued by Verisign.
This is a really lame problem to have that can be avoided entirely by following basic best practices for code-signing.

To clarify. IANA is a part of ICAN which has the TZ Atlas. That last update was in November 2011, which did include the Samoan time change. The problem is that Apple has not incorporated that update into their regular system updates, which is the foundation of this question and the problem that most users will have. I don't mind accessing the database myself, but it should not be the responsibility of the user to do so. Wouldn' t you agree?

Time Stamps on Email are 1 hour off after updating to 10.4.6

There appears to be a problem with time stamps on Emails after updating to Mac OS 10.4.6. I am using Entourage 11.2.1 and sending to a Microsoft's Exchange 2003 Server with SP1.
If a 10.4.6 Mac sends to a 10.4.5 Mac, the time is wrong.
If a 10.4.5 Mac sends to My 10.4.6 Mac, it is wrong.
If a 10.4.5 Mac sends to my Exchange Server account, but I view it on a PC using Outlook 2003 it's wrong.
If a 10.4.6 Mac sends it to it's self, it's OK
If a Outlook 2003 PC sends to a 10.4.6 Mac, it's OK
If I send to a Outlook 2003 PC, it's OK.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Yes, the time zone is set to the correct CDT time zone and the time is set to the current time.

Update table from SM30 with automatic Time Stamp

Hi,
I have created a table maintenance generator for updating table from SM30.
Now there are fields in my table which are CRETING TIME and CHANGING TIME. Both being TIMESTAMP field (datatype: RSDDTZNTSTMPS).
Is it possible while user updates records/create new record in the table from SM30, these time stamp field to automatically get populated.
Also is there any F4 help available for TIMESTAMP field?

Hi,
You need to do two things inorder to get the desired results.
1) Go to Screen Layout of the Screen created by table maintenance generator and make the date/time columns to DISPLAY ONLY. This will ensure that user is not able to modify the values at runtime
2) Write the code in PAI of the Module pool program to populate the values at runtime using Sy-datum/sy-uzeit. (Hint : Search for INSERT/MODIFY statements which will show the location before which you need to write your logic)

Dialog updates database... refresh Main panel?

Given an application that has a Master/Detail Form with details in a gridcontrol, and a button that kicks up a dialog panel that allows the user to edit extensively a row that appears in the said gridcontrol...
How does one force a refresh of the underlaying rowset in the original panel ( and force a redisplay into the grid control to reflect the updated data )?
I'm trying to avoid instantiating the rowset as a passed parameter to the dialog and then manually pushing everything back on the main panel...
Or am I ( again ) conceptually missing some significant approach to solving this task?

OK... here's some (working) sample code for an application based on Brian's help to Ali's session question, that also answers my question. Probably obvious to many, it may be helpful to newbies like me who are very confused reading the postings and trying to figure this stuff out.
It shares a rowset between a frame and a dialog box. The data is kept in synch (automagically) as things change in the dialog box.
Steps:
1. Build a database connection class
2. Put it in the application before opening the base frame.
3. Build the frame/dialog. DO NOT specify a sessioninfo/rowsetinfo using the infoproducer drag/drops.
4. Manually hardcode the sessioninfo/rowset stuff manually as noted.
Note also that session info is not passed nor published except once.
This seems to work. Please advise if you know of any glaring flaws. I wouldn't be surprised. Obviously, this is easier to actually do when you see the sample code than what it sounds like reading the postings! TIA.

How to update/refresh main panel's image displays inside subvi?

Hi everyone,
I have a image display control located in my main panel, and I have a subvi which do some process works inside it.
but what I have done inside the subvi can not be seen in the main panel.
I used image session controls as the input/outpout nodes for subvi.
If I use image display control as input node for subvi,
I can see the realtime displays in the subvi's panel,
but this is not waht I wanted.
anyone have good idea?

Also, I think the answer of Andrey_Dmitriev is what you are looking for. I think I understand your problem now. My example updates the image only after subVI is executed.

How can I call the SubVI like a child window one or more times in the front panel of my main VI ? See the example atached...

I would like to create a aplication where I call dynamically the same SubVi many times in the front panel of my main VI ... I saw this kind of programmation in other languages like Delphi, C++ Builder and Visual Basic.
For explanation: I have 10 channels to read in the list, but I would like to see only 3 channels ... Then I will click in the channels choosed of my list and will open the same SubVI 3 times, where each one will show the individual channel.

You could use the same technique, except instead of opening the clone's front panel, use the VI reference you have to it to poke it into a subpanel. Please note: I have never actually tried building a VI with more than one subpanel on its front panel, but it should work. Also you will not want to close the VI references because you will need them to stop the clones when you shutdown your application.
