Control playback of embedded MP3 using AxAcroPDF

I have a PDF file that has an embedded MP3.  I would like to be able to control it (mainly pause and play) from the AxAcroPDF control.  The documentation doesn't really tell how this might be done.  There is an execCommand function for the control, but I can't find any documentation on how to use it.
Dan

I don't mean to be obtuse here, but I downloaded the SDK and looked at the documentation and can't find anywhere where it references how to do this.  Is there someone who actually knows how to do this (not vague references, but the actual nuts and bolts of how to accomplish it)?  Again, I've got a VB.Net app, I want to be able to show a PDF with an embedded MP3 and control (just pause and play) the audio.  I tried the AxAcroPDF control, but then at the suggestion of someone here I used the WebBrowser control.  Both display the PDF and allow the use the start/pause/play the audio through the on document control, but I want to be able to do this programmatically.
So anyone actually know how this is done?  An example would be great.

  • Using javascript to control playback

I'm trying to figure out how to use javascript to control
    playback of a captivate-movie.
I want to control the playback (play, pause and so on) using
javascript only. The playback-control in captivate does not "blend
in" with the design on our website. I want to make a custom
    html/javascript playback-control.
I was hoping that the captivate-player could be controlled
easily with javascript, perhaps something like this:

    Any suggestions?

Have you considered creating your own Captivate playback
controls? That might be another option. You can do that with a good
image editor and some spare time. To see examples of what I'm

Paul Dewhurst, an Adobe Community Expert for Captivate has
specific instructions for building your own playbars on his
    web-site "raisingaimee".

Hope this helps - in any case,
welcome to the Captivate User's Community!
Thanks for the tip Larry! I will take a look at the link in
    your post.
We already have a design for playback-control on our site
(for embedded windows media player), which blends perfertly into
our existing design. I really hope that it's possible to control
the captivate-move with pure javascript. But I will "play around"
wit the "bmp toolbars" feature. Thanks!

  • Embedding MP3 files into dreamweaver webpage

I've embedded mp3 files into my webpage, but every time someone opens the page, they are prompted to either open or save the file.  I want the viewer to be able to play the song using the embedded player, without the prompt.

Embedded players are very old school.  And it won't work for many since they need a player and appropriate browser plugins installed on their end.  The modern approach is HTML5 <audio> which is widely supported by all browsers, including mobile and tablets.  For an example of HTML5 audio, copy and paste this code into a new, blank document.

  • How do I play embedded mp3 files?

    Hello,
Is Adobe Reader for iPad capable of opening my embedded mp3 files? If not, then how can I  get the audio to play inside the document?  The original document was created in Publisher 2012...converted to pdf where I embedded the mp3.
    Thank you for your help.

Adobe Reader for iPad has no support for MP3 or video files. You would need to use a paid PDF reader like PDF Expert.

  • Controlling Playback Programatically

    Folks,
Does anybody know if there is there a way to control playback of a QuickTime movie programatically?
If so what is that way?
My goal is to have a presented QuickTime movie stop, and wait for user restart, at several specific times over the course of the movie.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dual G5 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Try AppleScript via Script Editor (in /Applications/AppleScript )
Launch Script Editor (Is it just me or is Apple having trouble deciding whether two words should be two words or oneword? )
Pull down the file menu to "Open Dictionary"
    Scroll down to QuickTime Player
Click the black triangle next to "QuickTime Player Suite"
Click the black triangle next to "Commands"
See Play and Pause ? From AppleScript you could open the movie, send the play command, wait a given number of seconds, send the pause command etc.
Or you could use the "Select" command to set start and end points in the movie and then send the keystroke to "Play selection only" (command-T) and play that selection. Then later, select the next section, play it etc.

  • Problems with playback of embedded .mp4 videos in PDF

I am creating an ebook that has embedded videos that I made in Premiere Pro CS4.
They play back great in the PDF on my iMAC but when I email the pdf to my Windows laptop, the videos barely play!  The Windows laptop has Acrobat 9 reader installed.
I have tried embedding the videos with the multimedia tool using the Flash format and also using the Legacy Multimedia Content option.
Why does Windows have so much trouble with the playback!?  Most of my customers probably have Windows computers so I need to get this resolved.
    Any thoughts?????

I'm using the Video Tool because the videos are .mp4 format.  In the Insert Video dialog box it mentions that "Your multimedia will be converted to Flash format to ensure consistent playback across multiple platforms using Adobe Reader 9 or later."
Do you think it would be better to convert the videos to Flash and use the Flash Tool?

  • Controlling Playback

Any suggestions on controlling playback. For instance, we
want to ensure that students go through each slide before advancing
to the next slide. Can this be done in Captivate? I have found a
workaround, but wondering if there is an option to make it more
    simple. Thanks!

Yes this can be done in Captivate.
It all depends on where on the slide timeline you place a
'next' button, if you use them. You could set this button to jump
to next slide when clicked. When placing this on the slide
timeline, make it not appear until the content of that slide has
    finished.
If you use the playback bar option, remove the forward button
from the properties otherwise users could just click through the
    course.

  • Converting a tape to MP3 using Garageband and my MacBook...

I'm having a problem converting some of my old books on tape to MP3 using my MacBook and my stereo. I have a cord with mini-plig attachments on both ends - one end is connected to the headphone out jack on my stereo and the other is connected to the mini-attachment next to the headphone jack on the MacBook. For whatever reason whenever I try to record all I get is distorted static.
Any ideas on how to proceed with this?

You may need to adjust the volume levels both on the stereo output and the MacBook Sound Input Level in System Preferences. You need to adjust it so that the signal isn't amplified too much resulting in clipping or distortion.
You should be able to preview the sound coming into the MacBook to adjust those levels until it has an acceptable sound quality.

You will probably find better support about the features of the Webex app on their support page here: http://www.webex.com/products/web-conferencing/mobile-iphone-ipad-faq.html
Doesn;t look like it's listed as a feature of the iPad app.

Is following message due to 'Java' setting left unchecked?
Mac OSX supportsUser Authentication Mechanism (UAM) plug - ins from other manufacturers to control access to servers. To use a UAM, copy the plug - in to: Library/ Filesystems/ AppleShare/ Authenti

Man that is an ancient message.
The last time I saw that was using Mac clients connected to a Microsoft (Windows) Server running 'Services for Macintosh' which included the ability to act as an AppleShare compatible file server. Because Microsoft have a different security system for defining accounts which includes the 'domain' as well as username, the standard Mac AFP client did not know how to send that information.
Therefore Apple made it possible to installed a plugin in the form of a UAM or User Authentication Mechanism which added the ability to send this information to login to the fileserver.
    See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/101747
However Microsoft have long discontinued 'Services for Macintosh' and now the only way for a Mac to connect to a standard Windows Server is via SMB not AFP. I don't believe this plugin is available to download anymore.

  • LabView TEDS library into DLL or ActiveX Control so that I can use it in C or Visual Basic?

We are developing software in LabWindows/CVI and Microsoft C. I heard that LabView can generate DLLs. Can I turn LabView TEDS library into DLL or ActiveX Control so that I can use it in C or Visual Basic development environment?

Technically what you are proposing is possible with LabVIEW. With LabVIEW's application builder, VIs can be built into dlls. Also, LV has ActiveX hooks and so you could create a system for calling into it from CVI. However, this is not what I would recommend.
The LabVIEW VIs have been written to a preliminary version of the IEEE specification (1451.4) that describes the TEDS data which is primarily why I'm advising you against using them. Once the IEEE spec is approved (the current timeline is currently late March), it will become public and you can write your own code according to the specification (or wait for someone else to write it). To help you get started, the spec includes flex and bison code that describes the syntax and structure of the template files
Internally, we've written some C, C++ and Java code to the preliminary version of the spec and we've found that we can duplicate the functionality of the TEDS Library for LV in roughly 2 weeks in any other language.

  • Command button opens mission control, so I can't use it for other shortcuts

I have only had my macbook air for a few weeks, and I think I may have fiddled with settings before I had any clue what I was doing, as now every time I press the command key, it opens mission control, and I can't use command for other shortcuts... What have I done wrong and how do I undo it??? Help much appreciated!

I am having this issue, too, and Keyboard Shortcuts doesn't fix it, as I have not assigned Command to anything. It just states at the bottom "for additional choices press Shift, Control, Option, or Command," but doesn't seem to allow me to change these. Do you know of a way?

  • Controling wheelchair by speech command using Neuron Network in labview

    Hi all,
I'm doing project about "controling wheelchair  by speech command using neuron network in labview". I found some informations about controling whelchair combine with function microsoft speech recognition in window or something like that but this was not my point. So, I have some question about that:
    1) How do I store the command "Left-Right-Back-Go-Stop" in labview. After that, analyzing to find the differences of characteristic of these command.
    2) Based on these characteristic above, using neuron network to find exactly command.
Are there anyone do like this before? I need all help from you.
    Thank you so much.

    Greetings;
First, it is most excellent that you have gotten to where you can compare the words being said to the sample.
If I understand correctly, you are interested in continuously acquiring sound, saving it and then comparing it with the sample? That is not as straightforward as it sounds simply because it would be difficult to realize when there is sound in the first place and when that sound is relevant.
I would probably start by figuring out whether there is or not sound by comparing the microphone input to a certain threshold, saving if there is sound, and then halting the recording when the sound stops. It would be then that you would compare with your samples via the algorithm that you have made.
In order to check for volume, I came across the following example:

It was mentioned in the following discussion:
