Control+v in Win7 IE9

I have a director movie with Lingo scripting which contains a multiline text component and people are complaining that the CTRL+V does not work anymore.
I narrowed it down to Windows 7, IE 9.
Does anyone else have this problem and know a workaround.
I programmed it years ago in mx2004.  If I have to buy the latest version of director I can also do this if I know it will work.
Regards
Jonathan Carter

I've made some changes to the test DCR: I've applied a behaviour that listens for a [cntrl]+[v], and that then uses Lingo to paste the clipboard into the field when triggered. This is still just a basic Director-native text member, BTW. The test is at the same URL as before.
FYI - Applying the behaviour made the field behave strangely in Safari - specifically, the caret position was stuck at the last character in the field, and if I clicked anywhere in the text field it would create a selection from the clicked point to the end of the field. So the behaviour also takes care of placing the caret / making a text selection. (It's particularly weird cos this didn't happen with the first test so would seem to be something to do with attaching a behaviour to a text sprite).
There's also a possibility that I've stumbled upon a the cause of the problem: When I tested this DCR in Safari I noted that the first attempt at pasting causes the SW player to show an alert box asking the user to confirm that they want to give the app access to the clipboard. When you click "yes" nothing happens, but if you then try to paste again it will work (and no confirmation box is shown).
Given that this didn't happen with the first test DCR I'm presuming that the confirmation box is being triggered by the behaviour's call to the pasteClipboardInto() method. And this is making me wonder whether, in the absence of the user granting specific permission, IE9 is simply blocking the paste command, hence it not being passed to the DCR, and hence the problem you're having.
This also makes sense when you consider that a keyboard-shortcut paste command would (I expect) need to be passed from IE9 into SW Player in order to work. So when you hit [cntrl]+[v] IE9 blocks the command because it hasn't been granted permission, and because SW Player therefore doesn't receive the command it doesn't trigger the clipboard-access-confirmation dialog that would allow SW Player to instruct IE9 to enable paste shortcuts.
If this is the case then simply calling pasteClipboardInto() when the DCR loads and then clicking "yes" on the clipboard-access-confirmation dialog, may be sufficient to persuade IE9 not to ignore the paste commands, thus solving your problem. You could test this using the movie(s) you're having problems with - just add a dummy text member to a cast and call pasteClipboadInto() on it from a startMovie handler. For example:
on startMovie
     member("pastePad").pasteClipboardInto()
end
Fingers crossed again...!

  • Embedded Flash videos play on 32 bit Win7, not on 64 bit Win7, IE9 32 bit

    Hello,
I have two PCs.  One is running 32 bit Win7 SP1, the other 64 bit Win 7 SP1.  Both have IE9 32 bit and the latest version of Flash 32 bit, 10.3.183.7.  This page http://www.iorr.org/talk/read.php?1,999739 and others at iorr.org have embedded YouTube Flash videos.  On the 32 bit machine, they play fine on both Admin and Standard accounts.  On the 64 bit machine, the embedded videos are only visible on the Admin account.  Standard accounts show an empty box with a broken icon symbol where the video should be.  (Note:  not trying to use IE9 64 bit.)
I've spent a couple hours uninstalling and reinstalling Flash trying to see the videos on a Standard account on the 64 bit PC.  Nothing works.  Any suggestions?  Note that normal Flash videos work fine on the 64 bit PC Standard accounts.  Only embedded videos fail.
During this exercise, I noticed that the 32 bit PC has the Flash Player Control Panel under Control Panel->System and Security.  The 64 bit PC does not have it there, but I can manually bring it up from a CPL file in the SysWOW64 folder.  Not sure if that's part of the problem or a different problem.
    Thanks for your time.

I spent hours and hours on the same problem. My computer has a slightly different configuration. I am using Win7 32 bit, but experienced the same problems. Embedded Flash is working under Admin account, but not under other accounts. Many de-installs and re-installs, but nothing seemed to help. Until I found this internet post:
    http://superuser.com/questions/244316/embedded-video-is-not-shown-in-internet-explorer-9-r c-or-beta
The solution offered in that post solved all my problems. Hurray!!!
    Solution:
    * Open REGEDIT
    * Find the following key:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-shockwave-flash
    * Delete the key
    * Re-install flash
    * Problem solved (in my case)
In the replies of the above mentioned link another solution was given (in stead of deleting the key)
    * Right click the above mentioned key
    * Change the access rights and allow all users read access to the key (did not check this myself)
In order to keep the solution safe in this thread, please find a copy of the info in the link above here:
In IE 9 RC or in beta, the embedded video is not shown in the web page. I verified the security settings in "internet options". Did not find any issue. Please find the screen shot below. I am able to view the flash videos in Youtube. But, for some reason, in some sites the embedded video is not shown.
I don't have this issue with Firefox.
    UPDATE:
I am able to see view the embedded video in Admin account. But not able to view it in Standard account.
    UPDATE:
As it works as administrator, use Process Monitor and filter the Status on ACCESS DENIED.
This allows you to troubleshoot what key the iexplore.exe process can't access.
@TomWij, Thanks for the suggestions. The Process Monitor hint helped to nail down the issue. When run with standard privileges, it is getting "ACCESS DENIED" for reading the key
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-shockwave-flash.
When I elevated the privilege to Admin account, it did not have any issue. Then I uninstalled flash, deleted the registry key and then installed flash again. Now, I am able to view the embedded video in standard account.

  • When making firefox default browser, some print commands in Microsoft programs/games no longer work. example: printing a NAVLOG in Flight Simulator FSX. i have been able to reproduce this error at will. win7 IE9

basically this is it. In FSX when creating a flightplan there is a print button where you can print (on the PC default printer) the flight plan. (NAVLOG) When Firefox current version is the default browser, this print button simply does not work. Making IE9 (32 bit) the default browser, this print button works again. No doubt this will occur in other applications also but I have only encountered this in FSX sofar.
I run win7 64 bit but use the 32 bit browser. All patches are up to date. to be clear, this isnt limited to FSX. It affects all Microsoft programs that call the print command in win7. Clearly FF isnt fit for purpose if I cant make it reliably the default browser. anyone else come across this ?

Sorry if this comes to late, I just now came across this thread.  I have rtorrent and rutorrent sunning successfully on my x64 Arch Linux install.
Try putting the "SCGIMount /RPC2 127.0.0.1:5000" line in your httpd.conf file right after the LoadModule lines (it's line 124 for me).
I seem to recall it not working when I put it at the end of the file.
    Best of Luck!

  • Memory leak in Flash with Win7, IE9, 64bit

I have been having an issue for quite some time on 2 different computers. Both of them are Windows 7 64bit and use IE9.
Generally I have 1 - 5 tabs open in IE at any given time. Usually one of them is a tab for Yahoo Mail. Other tabs are related to whatever I may be searching for or doing at that time, so pretty varied. Throughout the day at random times I will begin to get a grey icon for anywhere on some tabs where there is supposed to be a flash video (like the ad in the right side of the Yahoo Mail tab)... When it happens I can open Task Manager in windows and I notice that 1 or two "iexplore.exe *32" processes have memory consumed in excess of 600,000K. When I end those processes I am again able to see any flash videos that need to be viewed.
If I leave Task Manager open throughout the day I can see the memory consumption increase on various tabs until I cannot see any more flash videos or even open new tabs in IE until I end those processes. Further, the memory does not get released if I just close the tabs in IE, but I must either end the specific process or close all tabs in IE so that IE is completely unloaded.
I have since uninstalled the Flash player and the issue has gone away. I can re-install the flash player and the issue returns. Can you please help? This has been a huge annoyance and I had hoped that it would be fixed sooner or later. Unfortunately it has not been fixed and has finally prompted me to post something....

First, I just wanted to follow up on this thread and let you guys know that we'll continue to look into it.  I also want to clarify some player behavior, and provide tips for helping to identify a defect that we can take action on.
Whenever you refresh/reload a tab, the browser should signal to us that our process is being destroyed, at which point we would release all of our resources and shut down.  SergeStone's comment above makes it sound like this might not be happening in a particular case.  I'm going to build out a few tests this week to explore this in more detail, and I'll follow up with results.
Also, it's worth discussing the difference between memory consumption and memory leaks.  Flash Player is designed to consume a percentage of your available memory.  If you have a 32-bit machine with 2GB of RAM, we're going to consume a lot less memory than a 64-bit system with 16GB of RAM.
Not all Flash content is authored well.  If the ActionScript developer is continuously loading objects into their SWF and never releasing them (a slide-show is a good simplistic example), you'll see a steady usage increase as each new object loads in.  You should also see that evenutally, our automatic Garbage Collection process will kick in.  Memory will peak out, and then you'll see a short CPU spike as we look at all of the available objects and cull as many unused ones as possible, consumed memory will dip down significantly (as long as we can cull stuff), and then start growing again until the next time GC kicks in.  We tend to do this judiciously, as poorly-timed GC can cause games to stutter if it happens when lots of things are moving around on the display and you don't have a lot of available CPU.
If it's our bug, it should be straightforward to fix, and I can follow up to this thread with a beta build for you guys to evaluate once we have one available.  In the meantime, it would be interesting to know if you're seeing the problem on our current Beta builds (which is where we would do the work).
Here's a link to the latest Beta download:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-5.html
Also, the simplest example is the most actionable.  If you can find a situation where a site in a single tab reproduces the problem, that's a quick and easy thing to deal with.  If the repro case involves opening seven tabs and waiting six hours, someone needs to repeat that over and over, until they can isolate what content experiences the problem and then iterate a bunch more with a debugger attached to try and isolate the root cause.  The more complicated the content, the more difficult that is.
Secondly, I wanted to offer some actionable suggestions that you could use now to work around this issue.
Try Firefox or Chrome.  Both of these browsers run Flash Player as a separate process.
For those of you using Performance Monitor and other tools to measure, you can directly observe the resources used by Flash Player
For the folks concerned about Bookmarks synchronization, both Firefox and Chrome provide native bookmark syncing and import from IE mechanisms.
Xmarks is a really nice, free utility that provides cross-browser, cross-platform bookmark synchronization.
    Thanks,
    Jeromie Clark

  • Could not save, print, or operate any lower middle tool in IE9/Adobe 10.1.4

These little icons that appear in the middle center bottom of an IE window for Save, Print, Navigate, Zoom, etc... do not do anything.  The overlay kind of just flashes and disappears.
The traditional style toolbar is not at the top of the window either, so this is the only toolbar that appears when you hover in the lower middle.
    Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
    Adobe Standard 10.1.3
    Adobe Reader 10.1.4
I installed Adobe Reader 10.1.4 and it did the same thing.  I found on a Microsoft forum a solution to open Reader, go to Edit > Preferences > Internet and uncheck display in browser.
This did change the behavior and now when we click on a PDF link, a new window opens up with a small orange/white box at the bottom asking to save or open.  Now when we click open it launches adobe reader and we can save or print the file.
I originally wanted to right click on the PDF links on the website and save target as... but some websites are making the hyperlinks javascript() stuff so IE doesn't even give you the option to save target as anymore.
I just want to bring this up to Adobe's attention that these controls are broken in IE9 / Acrobat X and hopefully they are fixed because it would be very convenient to have the controls right there, than have to change settings that make the system ask Open/Save/Cancel.

The floating toolbar is a new feature added Adobe Acrobat/Reader X onwards. To get the basic toolbar on the top of the page, please use the rightmost button on the floating toolbar.
Also, since, I could not gather this from the image, can you please let me know if the said buttons are disabled or they are enabled but do not work?

  • Allow Networking Disabled when Webpage Renders in an App Hosting Webbrowser Control

Was there a change with Security for Network requests for Flash player 11.4? I have a Windows Application that hosts the Webbrowser Control. When browsing webpages with Flash files that load external requests, the Flash ActiveX control does not load those external requests.  It is behaving like the page specified allowNetworking="none" on the <param> tags of the <object>, or the mms.cfg contains DisableNetworkAndFilesystemInHostApp - but neither of the two is specified.
I cannot replicate with Flash 10.4 but can replicate the issue with Flash 11.4 on Webbrowser Control for IE8 and IE9 and it is not webpage specific. I can replicate on the http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If they actually did change anything with the Timer in 11.4 it will be in Release Notes. Here's 11.4's:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/release-note/fp_114_air_34_release_notes.html
Do note, 11.5 has been released. You can see the release notes for 11.5 here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/release-note/fp_115_air_35_release_notes.html
    Download FP 11.5 here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    Download AIR SDK 3.5 here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
I see no changes to Timer so that's not likely the issue.
Feel free to post problematic code or explain how you came to that conclusion for more help.

  • Jump in users session with control Server 2008 R2/Windows 7 64 Environment

For two hours I've searched and searched and can't find MY answer. My goal is to jump in and control workstations of my employees (a bunch of old farts that would blank out if they had to do anything to allow me to do this) without the use of VNCs or third
party installs. I'm running Active Dir. This is what I've done WITH THE NETWORK FIREWALL OFF:
installed the mmc Remote Desktop Services Manager
at root level I can only see my sessions automatically
I am remoted into Server 2008 R2 using this snap it to remote into Old Lady #1
    I'm a member of:
    --Administrators (for domain)
    --Domain Admins
    --Remote Desktop Users
When I add a computer to the MMC I get: "The computer can't be reached..."
Using GP, I pushed out a policy to the computers in that department the 2 firewall changes necessary
--One about allowing remote access for administration
--One about allowing remote desktop access
----I * the allowed computers until I figure this out, afterwards I will further restrict the "from" computers for security
I'm inches from thinking that what I want can only be done with VNCs or third party apps. I manage beach houses for a living and don't have time to spend like this on helping my old fogies OR walking all over 2 floors to help someone because the printer
is only printing black and white or "my mouse is too fast" or "how do find an email that I deleted"...
Is it possible for me to be all mighty and powerful and take control of my Win7 workstations without them doing anything more than pressing OK when I just in there session?
I don't like third party. I like everything Microsoft unless 100% unavoidable.
    Thanks,

You should use Remote Assistance and configure GPO for unsolicited access:

  • Import data from another browser - Only few IE9 favorites get transfered to bookmarks. HTML solution - HTML file all favorites correct, but same result

Win7 / IE9: First time use. Example: One favorites folder has 4 HTML entries - only 2 get transferred. Some have none transfered - folder empty. Others have random correct + some missing.

    Monday Nght
I can see complete IE9 Favorites HTML list in HTML file on Desktop with Firefox -> New Tab -> Open File.-> Open
In desktop HTML file, there are 37 IE9 folders with no more than nesting 3 deep in any one top folder. These are all correct wrt IE9 favorites.
All top folders + deepest nests are copied to FF ok. Contents random. Copied contents work ok
7 HTML web sites not allocated to IE9 top folders are also copied <- these 7 copy to FF and work ok
Example: First folder in IE9 list has no nesting., IE9 has 4 entries - Firefox has only 2. when either method of copying is used.
BTW - please advise how I can delete whole Bookmark list in Firefox in one keystroke to be able to retry with a clean Bookmark list
I am going to uninstall Firefox and start again with a clean copy and use HTML method only to try to transfer IE( files. I will report result.
BTW, I am in UK on UK time - hence delays in replying - need to sleep sometimes!!!!!
    Tuesday Evening
    Hi
I uninstalled Firefox. Re installed and loaded IE9 favorites from HTML file.
    All seem copied correctly
First time I started by using the "import data from another browser". Partial copied.
Then I tried "Import from HTML file" without deleting whatever favorites had been copied. Still partial copied.
    All seems well.

Is there any way to force the proxy settings to the Win8/IE10 or 11 systems .

    Hi,
I agree with Zanderol24, we can install RSAT on a windows8 client, and then we can use Group Policy Management to manage group policy from the client.
For more information about RSAT, we can refer to the following link:
Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows Client and Windows Server (dsforum2wiki)
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2202.remote-server-administration-tools-rsat-for-windows-client-and-windows-server-dsforum2wiki.aspx
For more detailed information about how to use GPP to configure the proxy setting for ie10 and ie11, we can refer to the following link:
How to configure Group Policy Preference settings for Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2898604
When we use GPPs you need to be aware of the F5-F8 keys:
Red / Green: GP Preferences doesn’t work even though the policy applied and after gpupdate \force
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/grouppolicy/archive/2008/10/13/red-green-gp-preferences-doesn-t-work-even-though-the-policy-applied-and-after-gpupdate-force.aspx
Besides, aside from using group policy to manage IE, IEAK can also be used to do this.
For IEAK, the following article can be referred to for more information.

  • Whenever a user opens a document shared our SharePoint intranet he is prompted if he wants to open or save the file

We have a SharePoint intranet we use to share documents.  I have a user that every time he tries to open an Office document from this site, he receives the prompt: "Do you want to Open or Save this file?".  If he opens the file and updates it,
the changes are saved locally on his computer and not onto the website.
The issue doesn't seem to be the site or his permissions because if he tries to do this using my computer instead, he is able to open the file, update it and the updates are saved directly onto the website.  It only happens from this specific PC.
The PC is running Win7, IE9 and Office 2010 (same as mine).  I also compared the configuration for the different security zones between the 2 PCs and they look the same (internet, intranet and trusted sites).  I'm thinking there must be a setting
configured differently somewhere in his IE but I'm not sure what else could be causing his computer to behave differently than mine when performing this task.  Any advice would be appreciated...

    Hi,
Did you mean that you wanted to pop up the dialog of "You are about to open: <Name:file name><From:web site>,How would you like to open this file:Read Only, Edit", update the file and save it back to the current SharePoint library ?
    Please check two points below,
Check and make sure add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" is enabled via IE9(32-bit version) Tools->Manage add-ons from your user's PC. if it doesn't appear, please repair or change the Office 2010 from Control
Panel, make sure to install Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support within
    Office Tools per this
    article.
If add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" has beed enabled, you need to check and disable the the Word
    Protected View per this
    article, then check result again.
