Controlling messageTextInput on form pages through templates ?

I am using UIX and JHeadstart 10g. At the end of each "wizard-style" section within our application, I have a summary page showing the user the details they have entered on each of the prior pages. To display the data component of the messageTextInput in bold, I am using the styleClass attribute, setting it to OraInstructionTextStrong. Is there anyway to modify a template file that would see this styleClass attribute being added to each messageTextInput without resorting to post-gen modification of the pages ?

Brent,
Unfortunately, we do not have 'item level templates' at this time, so the way in which these messageTextInputs are generated is 'black box' at this time. You will need post-generation changes at this time.
I will log an enhancement to have a 'Style Class' property in our ADF BC Property Editor where you could specify this. It won't make it into the upcoming release, though.

Can't get the applet control from a form page

Hi,
I need to get the applet control in a browser which has loaded an oracle form component.
When i use jinitiator, i get the control as sun.plugin.ocx.ActiveXAppletViewer., but when i use jre for running the oracle forms, i am not able to get the applet class. I observed with the control hierarchy with Monkey, the java accessibility tool, but I coudn't find any applet class.

1. What is the complete Forms version you are using? Do not reply with something like 6i, 9i, 10g, etc. These are product names and not versions.

I am working on Developer suite.

My issue is that I am not able to identify the applet class.I am not getting any crash as such.

Let me elaborate the query again.
I need to get the applet object of the page that loads the form. To get the applet class, I have written a listener class and print the name of the classes that get created. This way, I identified that the class sun.plugin.ocx.ActiveXAppletViewer, is the applet created in the IE when the form is loaded using JInit.
Also, I can see the same applet class in the monkey tool once the page is loaded.
HOWEVER, when I use SUN JRE to load the form, the action listener class doesn't identify any applet class. The monkey tool also fails to show any. The class I get in this scenario is sun.plugin2.main.client.PluginEmbeddedFrame.
I assume that there should be some applet class present to load the form irrespective of whether it uses JInit or Sun JRE.
Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Pages '09 Templated Forms Not Printing in Pages 5.5.2

I have an older Macbook Pro (circa 2009) running OSX 10.10.2 and Pages 5.5.2. I am connected to a Canon MX320 printer. While running my iWorks 09 version of Pages, I created a template that allowed me to print customizable checks. I setup a template with customized settings (2.75" X 6.0" paper, 0" margins on all sides). I would open the check "form", enter the payee, amounts, date, memo, then place the blank check into the printer and the check would print. Since I upgraded OSX and Pages, my template no longer works. The blank check slides through the printer with no printing being done. I have tried changing the orientation and paper dimensions but I am unable to print with the defined paper size. It will print with a larger sized paper (it doesn't seem to recognize the small form size). I seek possible solutions.

Then if you have exhausted all possible tests and printer drivers, go with what works, use Pages '09 and get a bonus 100+ features.
Or switch to another application that does the job and has a long term future (hint not Pages 5).

Enable spawn pages from template

Hi all,
I have a fill-in PDF form (created in Acrobat Pro X) that uses a javascript button to duplicate pages (spawn pages from template). We got a trial version of LC Reader Extensions ES in order to enable the button to function in Reader. The problem is, as I understand it, when our evaluation period runs out, the button will stop working in Reader. Is this true? The form will be distributed to LESS THAN 500 people- we just want this button to work for everyone. Is there another way to enable users of Reader to spawn pages from template?
I don't believe that purchasing the software is an option, as the Adobe Rep on the phone said it would be $10,000 per form. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but the functionality you are looking for is not available with the limited Reader Eextensions capability available within Acrobat. Reader Extensions has a set of rights, and the following rights are available only through the server product (LiveCycle Reader Extensions). These specific rights are:
2 - Form Data Import/Export
5 - Spawn Pages from templates (for PDF page forms, as opposed to XFA dynamic forms)
9 - Barcoded form data unencrypted
10 - Browser-based annotations (note that this capability is being deprecated for use with Reader)
11 - Web services or ODBC access from the form
12 - Embedded File actions
[Acrobat enables basic form fillin, signatures, and annotations, as well as the ability to save the document after the data fillin or action has been done]
In your case, you either need to get a LiveCycle Reader Extensions license or move yourself to LiveCycle Designer-based forms where dynamic forms may do what you'd like.
I'd suggest a deeper discussion with your salesperson.

What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

Using Iwork 09 I have spent several hours setting up a mail merge from a spread sheet in Numbers to create receipts for my customers from a Pages template.
After the merge I am left with one long Pages document that will not save as separate files; one per customer, it will only save the whole document of several receipts.
What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

You will probably be more pleased with the iWork apps when you begin to learn your way around. Until you learn such basic things as how to print only one page of a document, you will probably continue to be disappointed.

How can we print the page numbers for TABLE OF CONTENTS form When its excluded from the form page count ?

We have TABLE OF CONTENTS followed by 100 forms with totally 215 pages.
We have checked in the Exclude from form page count option for TABLE OF CONTENTS form in Group level.
The forms followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form all are using FORMSETPAGENUM rule in footer.
the very first form followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form the page number starts at 1 of 215 and the last form ends at 215 of 215.
Now i want to print the Page number for TABLE OF CONTENTS form alone.
How can we do that ? Any thoughts ?

Hi Raman,
I guess, you have included 'Exclude Page Count' option in Table Of Content (TOC) form.
There is a limitation in studio. The page number functions (FORM PAGE NUM OF/ FORMSET PAGE NUM OF) will be ineffective when we select the 'Exclude Page Count' option in TOC form. Hence, you was not able to print the Form Page Count in TOC form.
The only way to print page count is to deselect 'Exclude Page Count' option. Then you can normally print the TOC Page Count in TOC form. However, thiS TOC page count will add to the Total formset Page Count. The Formset Page Count can be controlled through Postransdal using the script [FORMSET PAGE NUM = TotalPages() - 1]

Pages 08 Template images -where are they saved?

I know Pages 08 does not have clip art but I like many of the pictures on the templates. I want to use some of the template images (like the cat.tiff or frog.tiff) on a blank document. Copying & pasting works but I'd rather be able to see all the template tiffs at once. Where are the template images(tiffs) located on my hard drive. Is there a specific iWork folder I can find them in?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
The images are "buried" in each template which is buried in the Pages application. You can find them by Control- or right-clicking on the Pages application > Show package contents > Contents > Resources > Templates & then the folder for the template category you want. Then Control- or right-clicking on the template icon > Show package contents > Contents where you will find the actual images.
Or you can just copy & paste from an open template.

How to insert an username from the login page to the form page

I created one database apex application in which it consist of three pages...
1)login page----->1
2)form page along with report page(in same page) i.e. i created a report region within a form region
3)form page(this page appears when i click the edit option in my previous report page
(i.e.) my 3rd form page depends upon my 2nd report page, as soon after i click the edit option of each and every row in my report which is in 2nd page it has to go to the corresponding 3rd form page for making an updations in each and every row...
I have created my above listed applications....
But the scenario for me is since the login page contains two fields, that is
user name:
password:
so i will be giving my name in the user name and also respective PW for accessing to my 2nd and 3rd page in my application...
Since my 2nd form page consist of following fields like

*) status
*) start date
*) priority
so my requirement over here is soon after i logging into my application through the user name and PW into second page, while coming to the second form page
my user name field in my 2nd form page has to get inserted automatically with the user name that i have entered in the login page...
example: my user_name in login page is :harry
after going into the second form page with the user name "harry"
the field of my 2nd form page "username" has to get automatically generated with the name "harry"
Whether it is possible friends to do this in my application....i doesn't have any idea of it...Kindly help me friends to solve my scenario...please explain each and every steps in detailed manner...

Source value or expression: (respective column name)
and in Default: u need to give-----> &APP_USER.(exactly the same including the full stop)....

Self replicating form pages in Acrobat Pro 9 (Win XP)

Is it possible to make a single form page, with several text fields, a few drop-down menus, that will duplicate itself into a new page when a button at the bottom of the page is pushed?
If this is possible, is it also possible to have any fields, drop downs, or buttons, change their name automatically as each new page is created so that there are no conflicts of having multiple form items with the same name?
For example; Page 1 has a button, "Date1", that when pressed, will insert the current date into field "DateField1". I press another button, a new page is created which is an exact duplicate of page 1 (with all fields blank) and now, on page 2, there is a button, "Date2", that will insert the current date in "DateField2".
If this is possible, how do I do it?

When I create a from that uses a template, I create the template and then spawn the 1st page of the form before the template and then work out the scripting for the 1st page and template and then hide the template.
Thanks, but I've already gotten past this point. The issue I am having now is getting the javascript for the button to automatically append the page prefix to itself so that the button works on that page, not the page it was duplicated from.

New page from template

When I try to create a new page via File>New>Page from Template, I get the error message saying it is nested inside itself. How do I get around this?

When I try to create a new page via File>New>Page from Template, I get the error message saying it is nested inside itself. How do I get around this?

Combining word processing and page layout templates

Does anyone know how to (or if it's possible at all) merge or combine a Pages 09 document set up on the "Pages Layout" template with one set up on "Word Processing" template properly? Can these two templates "talk to each other"?
I'm trying to combine some of my separate class notes for my students into one file, and some were created in Page Layout, with visuals, charts, pics, etc. I also have some Word Document notes that I'd like to merge with the other notes to create one "class notes" file for my students. But I can't seem to do that, for some reason. I can copy individual pages from the Page Layout notes and paste them into my Word Document notes, but they paste as two pages (one page is blank). When I delete that page, the other one is deleted, too. I can't copy and paste from the other direction (word doc to page layout) at all, and like I said, the other way is a little off, as well.
Any ideas, or is this just not possible in Pages 09? Thanks.

I'd like to stay in one or the other, but I just like features that are only in one or the other. For example, I like in WP mode that when I get to the end of a page of writing and keep going, a new page appears (with formatting and layout intact on the next). If I'm in PL mode and writing in a text box, it just goes beyond the viewable screen. I also like the ability to select and move around individual pages in PL mode, and that doesn't seem to be available in WP mode (they're all stuck together and move in clumps). But you're right, I'm just going to have to stick with one and figure out some workarounds for some things I like. Since I think I'll be more in WP mode, I'll try to move stuff over from PL.

Thanks for the advice... it's already helped me try to come up with some ways to fix things. The whole click away thing to give me floating objects has been great! You're right, this does seem like a design flaw, but I suppose Apple can't be all things to all people. Still, I'd like a little more...

Hang in there! You're right, Pages is tough when trying to use created projects in other apps! Like you said, I'm working to rebuild the layout. By the way, my PL document was 16 pages, which when transferred to WP mode doubled in size! Sheesh...
