Controlling within mini-player clears search field - annoying bug

I've come across this annoying (repeatable) bug with iTunes 9... when I listen to music, I like to put an artist's name in the search field, then just let it play on shuffle from those search results. Typically no big deal, however, if I switch to the mini-player, then use any of the controls (play, forward, back) on the mini-player, the search field gets cleared out and it's just playing through the entire library. It's annoying to have to re-enter what was in the search field when it clears like this.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to fix it? So far I'm just being careful not to touch the controls in the mini-player while listening to a selection narrowed down from the library with the search field.

As a work-around, there is a freeware program that allows full iTunes control from the OS X menu bar which will avoid the need for using the mini player. You can close the iTunes window while leaving the program running and your search will remain intact. Get it here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/youcontroltunes.html

Mini Player Clears Search Results

If I perform a search in iTunes (e.g. for an artist), and then switch to the mini player, iTunes will continue to play music only from my search results.
If I press the Next or Previous buttons on the Mini Player, the first time I press the button, the song will also be from the search results. Each press after that (or if I allow iTunes to finish the track) will bring songs NOT from the search results, but from my whole library.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does any one know a way to resolve the issue?

After you search for the artist, *Ctrl click* the arrow after the artist name to see all items by that artist in yoru library, then play and open the mini player.
Better yet, instead of search, simply turn on the browser (iTunes menu View -> Column browser) then select the Artist to see everything by that artist.

8.1 Mini Player drops searches

Just upgraded to 8.1 for windows. When I do a basic search in my music library (say for an artist) and then start playing and put iTunes in Mini Player mode, after a couple of tracks, it drops the search. It especially does this when I jump back out of mini player.
Anyone else see this? Any way to downgrade?

Same issue here. I know I've done this in the past without issue so it must be an 8.1 issue.
I can do a search in the library, play with shuffle on and press "next" hundreds of times never leaving the search results. But after switching to mini mode and pressing "next" only a few times iTunes plays random songs from the library which no longer fit under the searched term(s). After restoring the iTunes window I can see that the search field has been cleared.
Hope they fix this in an update soon.

ITunes 9 Mini-Player and search option

Before I downloaded iTunes 9 and was running all my music through iTunes 8, I was able to search for keywords and that became the playlist. I switched to Mini-Player and it continued endlessly through this selected search. I am not able to do that with iTunes 9, I search for songs, switch to Mini-Player and the search somehow escapes itself and starts playing my whole Music listing of songs.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I have this issue, both on my computer, and on my girlfriend's Macbook Pro. Prior versions of iTunes would constrain its Shuffle to within my search results when using the Search function in the upper right corner of iTunes. 9.x basically ignores the search results, and shuffles within my entire library. There doesn't seem to be any way to fix it, as there are very limited "shuffle" options in the Controls menu.

Clearing search field history.....?

Hello.
When I type in the google search field, many other searches come up automatically as I type. I guess there's a history of previous searches....?
Is it an auto fill thing?
Or a cache thing?
Anyway, the list of previous searches has gotten quite huge, and I'm wondering how I can clear the memory so that when I type in the search field, it won't try and guess what I'm searching, and it won't complete my text.

Hi Alex,
If you're referring to the actual text search box on the Google homepage (rather than the Google search box on the Safari menu bar) then you can clear that out via the AutoFill preferences.
Safari preferences -> AutoFill -> Other forms -> (Edit...)

I have noticed when going into the app store, or our own app, Optmobile, that when I search for something that search stays in the field unless I manually press the X to clear it. Yes. But if you will have download the linked form and open it up to be able to see all of the code, settings, actions, and document level function needed to make it work.
The note from the form:
"These three fields "auto-tab" to the next field when they reach their character limit.

ITunes forgetting or erasin text in search field when in mini-player modus

Hi,
there has been an annoying bug in iTunes since version 8 where iTunes doesn't seem to remember the text typed in the search field when it's in mini-player modus.
Concrete example:
I type in the search field The Beatles. I get the list with all music from The Beatles. I start playing the music, put iTunes in mini-player modus via the green plus sign.
Before iTunes 8 this gave me the chance of selecting which album or artist or song I wanted to hear, without needing to make a seperate playlist for it.
But I still see which song is playing in the mini-player.
Now, since iTunes 8 after a couple of songs in the mini-player it just plays other music as well. If I enlarge the player again, I see that the text in the search field is just gone.
I don't want to make seperate playlist every time I just want to hear this or that artist or album, and this worked fine untill iTunes 8.
I'm not the only one with the problem (after a check on a Mac-forum in Belgium). But after 2 bug reports to Apple and a couple of updates (now iTunes 8.2) the bugg is still there.
Does anyone know if there is any way to get this back? (Terminal commando or something, don't know...)

Your solution is fine if you're browsing. But if you're playing back specific material that does not fit into that filter, then you're up the creek.

How to clear the fields within copy routines in the copy contorl

HI Gurus,
I need to clear the fields VBP-VBELV and VBAP-PSSNV within the copy routines 303 in the copy control between quote item and sales order item. I am not sure how to do that... Can some body please help.
This is required because we had sales order and quote using the same requirement type which controls the special stock indicator. This leads to the stock getting update in quotation instead of the sales order, because the quotation is initiating document (collecting all cost etc).Now i know requirement should only be passed to production from sales order and not from quotation so i changed the config but there are some existing documents using same requirement type on both quotation and sales order and to correct those i need to clear fields VBP-VBELV and VBAP-PSSNV within the copy routines 303.

Annoying problem with Pause in Mini Player

I often use the "Mini Player" while playing music in the background. When I go out of the office for a break or for lunch I usually just click the pause button on the Mini Player - and, when I return I click it again to resume the song that was playing.
Many times when I hit the pause button the song stops and then all the buttons grey out. I am forced to maximize iTunes, find the song that I had paused and click to start playing it again.
Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it??

Uninstall it via add/remove programs. It serves no useful purpose on my machines except telling me that there is no internet connection when that is painfully obvious as email and browsing services stop. Restarting the machine is easier and faster than messing around with the agent.

Click the Loupe icon to show the search field, and the list icon to show "Up next", or use the command "Show up Next" from the "View" menu.
Are these icons missing in your Mini Player?

Search Field Clears

Hello--
When I type in for examples, "The Beatles", into the iTunes search bar, and I minimize iTunes, if I click the "next track" button on the minimized view, or if I click next track on my apple keyboard, the iTunes search bar clears (and it will go to a different artist if on shuffle). This does not happen when iTunes is not minimized.

AHA!! That explains it. Use the Mini Player (Shift/Cmd/M) which leaves a mini-player window open. You can choose to leave that window on top or not (iTunes/Preferences/Advanced/Keep Mini Player on top of all other windows).

How do I turn off controls in the mini player?

Hello, I have a question about the mini player. When I first installed iTunes, the mini player would only display the control icons when I moved the cusor over the player, with only the artwork displayed while the player was in use. Now, however, every time I use the mini player it always has the contorls on display. Is there a way to toggle the controls on and off so that they are only visible when I want them to be? For reference, the mini player always looks as it does below. When I first began using it only the artwork would be on display. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but the player still looks the same (I did not do a full uninstall/reinstall however). Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Help creating a search field in my website for users to search within my site

Hello .
Basically i want a search field in my website so visitors can search withing my website for what they are looking for .

How can I search PDF's with iTunes mini player search?

I have been storeing PDF's in iTunes books becuase its so simple to use. The new mini player in iTunes 11 mini player is amazing and provides some very nice looking searchs.
However I can't search PDF's via the mini player. Does anyone know how to make this work on a windows install of iTunes?

I've had the same problem as first posted. Tried the suggested solutions and none of them worked. I finally have found somethng that does work.
In iTunes v.11.0.1.12, I needed to get to the following screen before DELETE would work:
In the uppper LEFT corner select Books.
Then highlight/select the PDF file you wish to delete, and right click to get the menu to pop up.
Now, select DELETE from the menu.
