Convergence Address Book customization.

I have disabled "Personal Address Book" option under Address Book. Now, when I login and click on Address Book Service, ViewerContainer pane shows a blank page. How do I set default page to be loaded for ViewerCOntainer?.
I see this issue only when PAB is disabled.
Thanks

How many people/group entries is the Corporate Address Book meant to display?
I am planning to replace the old webmail application with Convengence but our end users were used to browse the whole organization structure tree with ou and groups.Which "old webmail" are you referring to? UWC/CE or Messenger Express or some other third-party product?
Is it possible to customize Convergence Address book so that it will show the whole organization structure tree? No. The Corporate Directory interface is not designed to display the underlying LDAP organisation structure.

  • Customize Convergence Address Book Search Field to Search on Organization

We have a requirement for users to be able to search the corporate address book by organization. Is it possible to add a Organization option to the search filter drop down in the Address Book browser page?
Currently there are only options to search on the following attributes:
    1. Display Name or Email
    2. First Name
    3. Last Name
    4. Phone Number
    We are using Convergence 2-0.06

    Hi
    ./iwcadmin -V
    Sun Convergence 1.0-13.01 (built April 12 2010 - 01:27:52)
One of our users has reported that if she goes into the address book the first contact is already automatically selected, this leads to unintended recipients getting the email, I have had a look at the Convergence 2 demo and this is still the case. Is this the desired behaviour or is it a bug?
    Thanks

  • Access the CE Address Book outside of CE

    Hello all,
I have searched high and low and have not been able to find anything outside of CE that is capable of accessing the CE AB. In my search, I came across the Sun Portal AB channel and the CE Sync but neither of these fits our needs. Ideally, we would like to be able to access the AB using Thunderbird.
If anyone has dealt with this requirement in the past and has some experiences/solutions/disasters to share, please do.

Ideally, we would like to be able to access the AB using Thunderbird. There is no plugin for Thunderbird that I am aware of that can access the private CE/Convergence address-book interface. The future plan is to move towards a more standardised mechanism for address-book (contacts) access, namely CardDAV. This however is still some time off.

  • Searching Corporate Address book in Convergence 1u3

It appears that searching by surname in the corporate address book is not working in our deployment of convergence: display name and and uid works. This is the value in our iwc config
    ab.corpdir.[default].searchattr = entry/displayname,@uid,person/surname
Is that correct, if not what should I set?
    TIA,

  • Customize Address Book Terminology?

    Hello,
I am just wondering, is there any way to make an application-wide change to the Address Book's terminology of entires? Eg, I want "cell" instead of "cell" and "im" instead of "other"—I know I can make changes to individual entires but is there any way to customize them all, to apply to future entries as well?
    Thank you!

While it is theoretically possible, the answer is generally no. Such attributes or properties are defined by schemas, and changing their characteristics can result in catastrophic problems, including data corruption and loss, the loss of data interchange though the Sync Services framework, and the inability to export standardized files such as vCal and vCard records.
Here is a link to the schema defined for the Address Book application by Apple. It may help you better understand the issues involved:

  • How do I customize the toolbar in my address book in Leopard? Is it gone?

My old Ibook with tiger crashed and I upgraded to a macbook pro with leopard. It appears that I can't customize the toolbar on the address book? I used to have actions (send email, configure, etc) on the address book in my old tiger system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Skip

    Hi Skip
Yes, Apple removed the "Actions" icon from Address Book in Leopard. You have to use the "Send email" option that appears when you click on "Work" or "Home" next to the email address on a contact page. Similarly "iChat". I'm not sure about "Configure", but you can use the Edit button at the botttom of the window to change a contact's details.

  • Convergence Corporate address book

    Good Morning,
We are currently running Convergence patch 4 and i noticed a small issue the the Address book. In particular the corporate directory,
when highlighting the corp directory tab in convergence there is an option to "add to address book" function.
When clicking on this button, it will throw an error stating "Save contact failed".
I imagine the problem stems from the address book being a corporate directory will not allow any normal user to modify the corp address book.
But from a user perspective it is very confusing, because they believe clicking on the entry and the "add to address book" button will allow them
to add the entry to the personal address book tab.
    Is my assumption correct?
    Thanks.

  • Address book groups: can't customize contacts with multiple email

I have many groups setup in address book and frequently like to use them. Additionally, several of my contacts assigned to groups have multiple email addresses. Is there a way to specifiy which email address of a contact's associates itself with the group? I have not been able to figure this out and am aggravated when I send out personal emails to my friends' work addresses, much to their chagrin.

Then you would use the, "Edit Distribution List" from the Address Book's Edit menu. Select the applicable group and then select which email address that you want the group to use.

  • Customize address book's list view

I have quite a few contacts with the same name (not all countries rely on the middle initial as a differentiator). It would be nice if I could have AB include prefix and suffix in the list view to help me differentiate without having to click on each contact to look at the card. In the end that wont solve all ambiguity, but it is a step in the right direction.

    Greetings,
You can already do that in Address Book. Select a contact, then choose Card > Add Field, choose the field(s) you want to addand enter the data, then click the Edit button to save the changes. Repeat for all the contacts you want to add that information for.
    D'oh!
I didn't know Address Book omitted that feature in Snow Leopard. Sorry.

  • Importing into Address Book with Custom Fields from a Text File.

    Hello
I'm a teacher and like to create contacts for my students. The information that I want in each contact besides their name, email address and phone number are their
student id's, semester enrolled, class number and class title. For these four fields I create a "Custom" field with the appropriate names: "ID", "Term", "Course" and "Class" respectively.
All this information I can download from the school's server in a CSV file.
To import the information into Address Book, I choose "File -> Import -> Text File" and then select the CSV file that I downloaded. The import utility opens up correctly showing all the fields I would like to import, however, many of the fields are marked as "Do not import." When I click on that term to select my Custom fields, they do not show up. Is this a bug or "feature" of the Address Book? It seems to me that if you are allowed to create useful custom fields, you should be able to import data into them as well.
If I'm just ignorant of how to do this, I would appreciate some help. If there is no way to currently do this efficiently, it would be nice to have this feature added to the Address book in the near future.
    Thanks for your consideration,
    Gary

Thanks for posting your question and the reply from rojok...
I'm a teacher as well - in Entourage I was able to just copy a column of email addresses (say from an Excel spreadsheet, downloaded from the school's server here at U MD) and then create a group and simply paste that list into the group. Address Book makes you do the extra step of importing all the addresses first. (Note: Your last imported list of contacts in this manner shows up as "Last Import" in the groups lists column to the left in Address Book - so to add contacts to a Group there, you select that Last Import group, click once in that list column one contact, say, then select all of the list - then Command + A, for select all - then drag them all to your group you've made - i.e. "MySpringClassList"). This is NOT very intuitive I might add and incredibly cumbersome of a process.
To get around the customizable info I needed to import... I just chose options that I don't regularly use for those things I needed to import - i.e. student I.D., these I placed under "ICQ Other" - that way they're imported at least.
    Good luck,
    Andrew

Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way.
