Converting Damaged Finished Goods to Spare Parts

Dear Experts,
Our customer deals in water heaters.
They have a process of taking the damaged water heaters from customer as receipt. post the receipt if it can be repaired it will be repaired and given back to the customer or if it cannot be repaired then they see if it is with in warranty then they replace the product and if it is not within warranty then ask the ask the customer to buy a new one.
If the damaged water heater cannot be repaired then they un-assemble the water heater and take whatever the good spare parts and take the spare parts into inventory.
Now what is the best way to map this process in SAP. That is how to convert the FG water heater to spares parts. Is there any movement type available for this ?
Regards,
Sohan

Hi Sohan,
This scenario is a Sales After market scenario. Please check with SAP SD consultant to address this scenario.
In case if you want to address through MM Route,  Please check following prerequisite:-
Payment must be processed to Customers/Vendors upon receipt of the Water Heaters.
Water Heaters must be loaded to Valuated inventory stock upon receipt.
Checking warranty can not be incorporated in SAP MM.
Decision of Repair and Warranty could not be captured in MM.
Reg the process of repair, you can have it via a Sub Contracting Scenario.
Thanks

  • Material backflush in production order after finished goods GR

    Dear all,
I once started similiar topic several months ago, but didn't recieved any response. I'm gonna give it another try, so maybe you'll be able to support me after all.
So, the situation is like this. We have a production order, in which MC team maintained the materials to consume. The problem is, that very often it comes that we have to use same material part, but under 2-3 different partnumbers. E.G.:
Production order target: 1000 finished goods
    Required materials: Part A 1000 pcs, Part B1 700 pcs, Part B2 300 pcs, Part C 1000 pcs, Part D1 150 pcs, Part D2 450 pcs, Part D3 400 pcs.
So yes, in case when it is Part B1, B2 and etc. it means that we're using physically the same part, but under different partnumbers. The problem is, that those material are all coming in pieces, not in meters or anything, and we can't allow to have, for example, 0.7 pcs of any of those materials (cause obviously you can't have 0.7 pcs of LCD panels stored in the warehouse).
It wouldn't be a problem if we could just confirm all operations in production order in 1 batch, but production order is being confirmed partially, every time the pallet with finished goods is being released from production line (we have integrated system, that sends requests to SAP to confirm specific quantity of finished goods in production order). So, as an example, if 1 pallet contains 15 pcs of finished goods, you have 67 confirmations for production order [(66*15)+(1*10)]. And, since all those materials come in PCS, SAP is rounding up consumption if it has decimal, which leads to wrong materials consumption.
Initially, I had an idea of adding 1 more operation in production order, which was supposed to be a manual use only, after finished goods GR, and MC team supposed to assign those B1\B2 and etc. material to this operation  E.G.:
Operation 0010 - consume material from work center A
Operation 0020 - consume material from work center B
Operation 0030 - finished goods GR (milestone)
Operation 0040 - consume material from work center C
My idead was rejected, since I was told that after GR for finished goods is done and you continue consuming materials in production order - it will not be shown in financial reporting (don't know the details, it was quite a straight reject, without much explanation).
So, question is - is there a way to consume materials after finished goods GR without creating mess in financial reporting, or if not - what other options do I have?
    thank you in advance

    Hi Valentin,
After GR also you can do goods issue. Till the order status is CLSD (Closed) you can book cost on to the order.
Two ways to consume materials on order.
In order component overview maintain the required part number with quantity. GI as can done with reference to order MB1A 261 movement type.
Directly do GI with MB1A -261 movement type - Input the order number, material number and qty.
Refer to the below discussion on unplanned GI which was discussed yesterday,

  • Advice to create a material type (Semi finished, finished or spare parts)

    Hello all!
I am facing a big problem to how to create a material type ?
In my case, this material (engine) is finished good in one plant (let's say 100) and in the same time it's considered as Semi finished good in another plant (200 for example) and we can also sell it as spare parts (plant 200).
So, i don't know if i will created as finished good or semi finished or spare parts in MM01 transaction? What do you think?

    Lamine,
Creating an material with type as Semifinsihed and Extending sales view to the article will solve your problem.. Also according to your scenario, i hope you are using SPK for transfer of SEMI FInished Goods from  Plant 100 to Plant 200. If this is there in the MRP view. you will not have any problem in this scenario. You can directly sale from Plant 100 and During MRP run for Plant 200 the material will be used in Plant 200 as Semifinished. Also as Sales view is extended in Plant 200 you can also sell it as Spare parts.

  • Good online stores to order spare parts?

I need to replace the rear processor cage fan because it's noisy. I have searched the Internet for online stores that sell spare parts for Mac computers (specifically 2010 Mac Pro Quad Core 2.8) and... let's say the stores I have found do not appear to be very trustworthy. Can anyone recommend good online stores that sell spare parts for Mac computers?

  • RG23A Part I for Finished Goods?

    Hi All,
Has anybody noticed if you select an excisable item as Finished Goods under excisable on item master data screen and having raised an outgoing excise invoice and if you run a report either RG23A Part I  OR RG23A Part II from Excel Reporter you will not be getting any report whatsoever.
then what is the purpose of providing "Finished Goods" option when it is not generating any reports?  but it is working fine with Raw Material and Capital Goods item types.
Can anybody explain the scenario on how to use finished goods option and generating excise reports for those kind of items?
    Thanks
    SV Reddy

Hi Datta, thanks for the reply
according to SAP Note 1062872 (2005B version) it reads as
"The excise register for excisable items of type raw materials/finished goods is currently set to RG32A Part I. When you create an out going excise invoice with these type of items, the accumulator for RG32A Part I will be increased."
I thought the same is applicable with SAP Business One 2007B version.  However what you said might be correct.  But the problem with one of my manufacturing client is whenever they raising an Outgoing Excise invoice  they have registered numbers automatically be created on the pre printed invoice paper.  where the invoice will be printed only with the qty, rate , price and register numbers rest of the information on the document is pre-printed.  So they have a column called RG23C Part I / II where register numbers are automatically printed.  But RG23C Part I & II are for "Capital Goods"
If I consider these manufactured items as "capital goods" then it will raise register numbers automatically.  but this will not acceptable.  correct me if i am wrong.  so all of these items should be cosidered as Finished Goods in the item master data.  if i do that again there is a conflict with their RG23C Part I / II on the pre-printed column and i wont be raising any register numbers.
Please update me on how should I deal with this issue

  • How to use spare part from damaged equipment to a new equipment in SAP

    Hello Gurus,
Sometimes we use a spare part from a discarded equipment to make the present equipment functional. How would this be documented in SAP?
    Thanks & Regards
    Raghuvarun

    Hi Raghuvarun,
There will be several methods depending upon the your final objectives of such requirement.
In case you want to just maintain the spare part and the Equipment from which it has been removed, then use Catalog Codes. In the Object part Catalog maintain the Spare part in the Code part and the Equipment number in Item Text.
    This method is hassle free.
In case the requirement's like physically identifying the spare-part etc., then the process would be very complex. You need to opt for not only Material Codes but also the Serialization of all these spare parts.
So you need to first consolidate your objectives of the requirement you have asked for. Then post a Query in detail explaining the objectives.
In most of the cases such requirements are satisfied with ideas like the 1st case I proposed, i.e., Catalogs & Codes.

  • Mapping Spare part kit planning in SAP

    Hi,
We have below requirement in Spare part Kitting process
    1)
Client  makes compressors, which obviously have a lot of components, where one of the prime part is valve.
    2)
Valve Kit is a finished product having components which are used in regular unit production also, where MRP Type can be VV or PD.
    3)
This valve kit sold as a spare part.Customers buy these kits and typical assembly time is 1 day.
    4)
This kit is not kept in stock and is assembled after receiving an order.
    5)
To be ready for customer orders, client forecasts these kits (about 10000) and drives the demand for lower level components.
    6)
When customer places an order, legacy system promises the dates based on availability of components. Date is promised to the customer based on the availability of the components. Also the requirement is passed on to the floor to assemble and shipped the same day.
    7)
To meet above requirement, we proposed to use Forecast based planning, where system will create planned order for Kit assembly & component can be planned.Knowing there is a back drop i.e. planned order created thru forecast can be converted into production order.
    8)
Then demonstrated “ATO – Assemble to Order” functionality in SAP. This uses strategy group 81 for the kit material XX-XXXX-XX. When a sales order is created for a material with strategy group 81, system immediately creates a planned order and as per component availability, proposes the next available date of the assembly.
    9)
Since ATO is an MTO process, Planned order is tied to Sales Order and when production order goods receipt is done, stock is received into Sales Order stock. Hence Sales Orders do not consume the forecast.
    10)
Question here is how to consume the forecast? When sales order is shipped system is not updating consumption data? This is important as today they use the consumption values to execute the forecast.
If any one has come across similar requirement, please give other options keeping below points in view
    1. We should be able to plan valve kits may be thru forecasting or PIR's. This to start procuring components.
    2. When sales order is created, system should do availability check at component level.
    3. Consumption data should be updated if we use forecasting to plan kit or if we use PIR's, sales order should consume the demand. Consumption of forecasting requirement is also required.
    Thanks in advance.
    Hari

    Hi ,
Looks like problem is due to
    - Need to do ATP at componnent level  which is only possible with Planning  strategy 81,82. You cannot use planning strategy 40( 40 considers forecast , sales order & consumption)
    - 81 ,82 planning strategy doesn't consume forecast for End item(Sales order entry material)
You could use Sales order BOM function. It is provided for selling Kits. BOM is exploded in sales order & kit items are put as seperate sales order items ( 20... 30... 40 ) Here are steps.
    -  Create BOM with usage 5- Sales order relevancy of bom components is Ticked
    - Create Sales order with item which is BOM header. System will explode BOM & all items will be part of sales order as item.
    - You can configure Sale Price at End FG level, Inventory management( DO issue) at item /components level .
    - Forecast will be consumed at end item level.Need configuration
    - ATP check can be performed at componenet level
Only thing is you will not have Plan order for doing assembly & there is no cost captured for assembly . Kitting donot involve much labor time.
    Hope it helps

  • Finish goods interchange

Hi,  I hope you can help solve a problem for us.  Here is the background information:
We have a SAP material that can be produced on 2 different work centers.
Production is assigned base on work center availability.
The material is exactly the same except it responses a little differently when our customer processes the material.
Our customer uses 2 different part numbers to identify the material and stocks them separately (part A and B).
Our customers do not have a preference as to which work center we create the material, as long as they can keep the material separate for there inventory
So if they order part A and we ship part B it is not a problem as long as they know.
We do not use SOP in SAP.
Customer sends a 60 week forecast each week via EDI
The forecast is loaded automatically into their schedule agreement, the first week as JIT and the remainder as forecast.
The customer uses either or both of their part number when ordering.
When receiving the material the customer will accept material from either work center as long as there are not mixed on the shipment.  (Customer orders part A, will accept part B instead).
Our inventory is set up with one storage location.
    Here is the problem:
We want to set up separate materials in SAP for customer parts A and B to avoid confusion in our warehouse and make it easier for our customer to receive our shipment.  But our planner needs to have visibility to the demand and inventory of both materials.  Is there a way to set up an interchange of finish goods material?  Will this combine the demand and inventory?

    Hi,
Finished goods scenario is very much supported in PS. Infact, customer projects are all about that.
    You have two options:
    1. Assembly order - Sales order line item triggers a network order. Standard networks and WBS elements are used in this scenario. Requirement class 212 and order type PS04, or customized versions of above are used in this scenario.
    2. PP order - This is the more usual scenario. FERT material is called in the activity acount assigned netwok activity. This creates a reservation for WBS element. When MRP runs this leads to "Planned Order". The planned order is later converted into production order which is account assigned to the WBS (incase of valuated stock which is the recommnended thing). When the production order gets delivered, WBSE stock goes up. Subsequent project delivery using CNS0 issues the material to the newtwork with 281 movement.
A lot of attention is required while creating the material master. You have to enter appropriate values in the MRP views of the material (MRP tupe, MRP group - MRP1 & Strategy - MRP3) so that correct requirement type & class are determined.
Hope this posting throws some light on the issue.

  • Auto GR/IR for Semi Finished goods in Work in Progress stage.

    Dear All,
What are account postings going to happen while issuing semi finished goods from from one process to other process by using Auto GR/IR.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

    Dear sapper2000,
Work in progress:If my understanding is correct, then any unfinished product can be said as work in progress.
Work in process or progress  are  partially completed goods, parts, or subassemblies that are no longer part of the raw
materials inventory and not yet part of the finished products inventory.Check this link to explore more on this topic,

  • Finished goods in BOM

We have products that after manufacturing are either sold or undergo further processing before being sold.  Can finished goods be included in a Bill of Materials for other finished goods, or is there a better way to implement the master data in SAP?

    Hi,
If there is uncertainty for the Finished Product to be part of any further processing or selling directly, then the action to be taken is a policy matter.
    Here is an example:
Say suppose you have one finished product and depending upon the customer requirement you will pack or do some different processing then:
the Finished Product can be created as HALB and FERT can be created with as per customer requirement.
    Hope this helps..

  • Salvage of Finished goods

    Dear Friend ,
I want to salvage the finished goods and take back raw material in the store .
Provide me solution for configuration and process .
    Thanks & Regards
    Rajan Keshri

    Hi,
Is the meaning of "salvage" to utilize the damaged FG? To disassemble it and use the components that are not damaged?
The most primitive and simple way may be to scrap the FG (MB1A + 551) and "create" the components by MB1A + 552.
    (MB1A + 201 / 202 can also be used)
You can create BOM for it (where component is the FG, BOM header one of the component, and by-products / co-products the other components) > you can create a disassemble production order based on the BOM > when you carry out the confirmation the components will be created by mvt 101 /531, the FG will be consumed by mvt 261.
You should decide which scenario to use based on the real situation and business process.
    Regards,
    Csaba

  • Non saleable returned finished goods which are discarded handled in SAP

    Hi Gurus,
I have a question with regards to Sales return.  I have some returned finished goods which was taken back in the system and reserved for quality check.  Here FG stock was debited and COGS was creditedat the time of physical receipt of material.  But after quality check it was decided to scrap the material.  How does the system pass the entry for the discarded stock.

    Hi
The entries you have mentioned had set off the goods issue entries.
Now when damaged - the materials can be scrapped with movement type 551

  • Need to know the exact name and P/N of a spare part, cannot find it anywhere.

    Hello,
I would like to know the exact name and P/N of the -Touch Panel Control Assembly- for the HP Pavilion dv3510nr?.
or is it -Touch Panel Kit-?
or is it -Multimedia Touch Control Panel-?
Recently, mine got physically damaged and none of the touch buttons work, I cannot even turn the WiFi on. So I need to replace it, but I cannot find this spare part anywhere.
It does not appear on the list of spare parts for this laptop, with any of those names.
Does anybody know where can I find this spare part?
    Thanks very much.

In case it was not very clear, the spare part that I am referring to is the panel placed above the keyboard, that has touch sensitive buttons for multimedia functions and for enabling the wireless device.
    Buttons appear In this order:
    MediaSmart button
    Audio on/off button
    Volume control
    Skip backward button
    Play/Pause button
    Skip forward button

  • CRM Service - ECC Logisitcs Integration (Spare Parts in a Service Order)

    Hi Experts,
We have been trying to configure a scenario for CRM Service Orders with SAP ECC logistics integration in CRM 7.0 EHP1.
We are aware of the standard configuration wherein we assign one logistics scenario ( Purchase Requisition or Purchase Order or Reservation) for a specific service organization & Item Category for spare parts in service order.
Our first query : Is it standard that the spare part will be automatically reserved if it is in stock (after ECC availability check from service order) and purchase requisition or purchase order is created only if it is not in stock?
We also understand that while a reservation happens during Service order creation, the goods issue or material withdrawal happens only on service confirmation. If this the case, how will the physical delivery happen to customer? This is our second query.
Please note that we are raising this query only for spare part items in service order and not for sales item in service order.
It would be great if you could help us with this issue.
    Responses will be suitably rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Prish

    Hi Pritesh,
Thank you for your prompt reply and help, appreciate the same, we would be going for the scenario where the service order in sap crm has saleable parts, the service order would get replicated to ecc as a sales order and the costs would get booked when the post goods issue is performed after creating the delivery in SAP ECC.
    Following are the configurations done
    1) Service Order type ZRVW is created in SAP CRM
    2) The same service order ZRVW is mapped in SAP ECC
    3) The service order in SAP CRM has the following number range and the same is kept internal
    4) The same number range is marked as external in SAP ECC in vn01 tcode
    5) The number range is assigned to the document type ZRVW in SAP ECC
    6) Item category determinations are done in SAP CRM, standard SRVS(Sales items are copied to YRVS)
    7) The same item category determination is also set in SAP ECC for Item category group NORM
    8) Item category determination is also set for ERLA as item category group in ECC
    9) The item category YRVS is set to delivery relevant in SAP ECC
    10) The standard schedule line is determined which is CP is relevant for delivery
    11) The sales area is also assigned to the document type ZRVW.
    12) In SAP CRM, the status profile YCONT is assigned, having the business transaction to be distributed, the status of the same is set to allowed for completed status
    13) The status profile has been assigned to the transaction type ZRVW
    14) Pricing configurations are also done in sap crm and sap ecc
    15) Now I am creating the service order ZRVW in SAP CRM, having saleable parts, customer's and material's exist in both systems having the same sales area, the status is set to completed at item and header level
    16) The system is throwing an error when I click on edit
    17) When checked In sap ecc the system says that the document does not exist
18 I did open the error in SAP CRM and it says that there are some settings required for billing
Since there is no billing relevance to this scenario in the item category the billing relevance is set to no billing
    Please advice further
    Kind Regards
    Atul
