Converting java's integer variable into mysql's tinyint datatype

I am using mysql database and to store the values of the table I used tinyint as datatype in the mysql. I have to convert java's integer data type to mysql's tinyint data type. how it is possible. please help me out.
Thanks ...

Do you have to use int?
The range of tinyint is -128 to 127, which matches the primitive byte data type in Java exactly. Maybe this primitive would be more suited to your needs? (sorry I have no advice on your actual question :p)

  • Inserting user variables into MYSQL database using servlet

    I have a servlet that recieves user entered parameters from an html form and inserts them into a user table in MYSQL, or at least is supposed to. I can get it to update the table with specific values but not with the user variables. I know the single quote marks are for inserting specific values but without them it doesn't properly work.
    The parameters are parsed correctly into the variables, so I just can't figure out how to ge tthe variables into the database. Any help would be wonderful

    I also realise that this is a more MYSQL titled problem, but those forums look rubbish <_<

    Investigate PreparedStatement.
    Currently you're trying to insert a value "Ufirst_name" instead of the value of the variable called Ufirst_name.
    It's possible to do this (you could do something like this: "... '" + UfirstName + "' ...") but DEFINITELLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Instead use a prepared statement.

  • How to insert a bean variable into MySql using jsp

    Hi, I have a problem that I have been trying to work out for ages..unsuccessfully.
    My web-site takes 2 inputs off a user...does a calculation on them and returns the result to the user.
    I want to then use another jsp page that will take this result and insert it into a database...
    My class code for this is :
    public void updateRepmax(String userName, String repmax) throws SQLException, Exception{
         if(con != null){
         try{
         PreparedStatement update;
         update = con.prepareStatement("UPDATE repmax SET Benchpress = ?, WHERE Member_Name = ?");
         update.setString(1, repmax);
         update.setString(2, userName);
         update.execute();
         } catch(SQLException sqle){
         error = "SQLException: could not update repmax";
         throw new SQLException(error);
         catch(Exception e){
         error = "An exception occured while updating repmax";
         throw new Exception(error);
         } else {
         error = "Exception: connection to database was lost";
         throw new Exception(error);
    My JSP is :
    <%@page import="java.sql.*, placement.*"%>
    <jsp:useBean id="conn" class="placement.DBConnect" />
    <jsp:useBean id="query" class="placement.DBQuery" />
    <jsp:useBean id="bpcalc" class="placement.repmaxBean" />
    <jsp:useBean id="userin" class="placement.User" />
    <html>
    <head><title>Update Repmax</title></head>
    <body>
    <%
    conn.connect();
         String repmax = bpcalc.getRepmax();
         String userName = userin.getUserName();
    query.setCon(conn.getCon());
         query.updateRepmax();
    conn.disconnect();
    %>
         </body>
         </html>
    The variable I am tryin to insert is repmax ,in the class that does the calculation the repmax is a double so I assume that is my first problem(how can this be changed to allow it to insert?)....any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks for your reply sathishkb,
    I am not actually receiving any error message,
    The jsp page is processed and the code seems to be correct however the table in my mysql database is not updated.. my JDBC drivers are working correctly etc.
    I expect that the problem is in my JSP page but dont know what it is
    I have removed that comma in my update statement
    I no longer have the problem of the variable being of type touble as I altered my other code to convert the variable from double to string
    jsp is now:
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page import="java.sql.*, placement.*"%>
    <jsp:useBean id="conn" class="placement.DBConnect" />
    <jsp:useBean id="update" class="placement.DBQuery" />
    <jsp:useBean id="bpcalc" class="placement.repmaxBean" />
    <jsp:useBean id="currentuser" class="placement.currentuserBean" />
    <html>
    <head><title>Insert Into Repmax</title></head>
    <body>
    <%
    String repmax = bpcalc.repmax;
    String userName =currentuser.name;
    conn.connect();
         update.setCon(conn.getCon());
         update.updateRepmax(repmax,Username);
    conn.disconnect();
    %>
         </body>
         </html>
    the segment of my bean code is :
    public void updateRepmax(String repmax,String userName) throws SQLException, Exception{
         if(con != null){
         try{
         PreparedStatement update;
         update = con.prepareStatement("UPDATE repmax set Benchpress = ? WHERE Member_Name= ?");
         update.setString(1,repmax);
         update.setString(2,userName);
         update.execute();
         } catch(SQLException sqle){
         error = "SQLException: could not update employer";
         throw new SQLException(error);
         catch(Exception e){
         error = "An exception occured while updating employer";
         throw new Exception(error);
         } else {
         error = "Exception: connection to database was lost";
         throw new Exception(error);
    }

  • How to read the data from an excel file into MYSQL by java language

    Hi all,
    I have some data in excel spread sheet and I want to put the data into MYSQL data base. I created the tables in MYSQL> How can I write a program in JAVA that puts the value from excel sheet to mysql??
    I would appreciate your help
    regards

    By typing code at the keyboard... but presumably you meant to ask what code you should type.
    To get data out of Excel there are a few alternatives. The Google keywords I would use to find them are "java excel". I use Apache POI but there are other possibilities, I believe. As for getting the data into MySQL once you have extracted it from Excel, you would use JDBC. But you already knew that, didn't you? You did find the JDBC forum.
    In general it's better to ask a specific question on a forum. If you don't have a clue (which is the way we all start out) then just telling people that isn't going to be helpful. The best you're going to get is links to tutorials, which you could perfectly well have found for yourself by simple web searches.

  • How to pass a JavaScript variable into a java method

    I would like to know how to pass a JavaScript variable into a java method with in a <% %> tag inside a JSP file like so:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <html>
    <head>
    <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    myValue = someDynamicValue;
    <% System.out.println(myValue)%>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    obviously "System.out.println(myValue)" will not work because myValue is seen as a java variable and not a JavaScript variable.
    I would like to know how to let the jsp file, that I wrote in the above code, see myValue as a JavaScript variable and not a java variable so that I can pass it to a java method.
    NOTE: the java method does not have to be a println() method, it can be any method of my choice.
    NOTE: someDynamicValue is a JavaScript value that can dynamically change

    I don't believe you can. JSPs are really just elaborate templates that an engine such as Tomcat parses and generates an HTML page based on. That page is then displayed to the user. By the time you want to use some function in Javascript, the JSP has already been parsed and generated.
    Basically, Javascript and JSPs can't talk to each other. One's server-side and the other is client-side.

  • Convert an Integer variable to a tring

    Hi everyone,
    This Shake script below is part of a much bigger one that loads multiple SfileIns. I need to convert the integer data into a string to make it work. How can I do that ? Thanks in advance for your help.
    string path = "/data/job/sequence";
    string path2 = "[email protected]";
    int num = 1;
    string final = pathnumpath2;
    SFileIn(final,
    "Auto", 0, 0, "v1.1", "3", "");

    I think you might want to try the -curve option, which is defined on page 1023 of the manual.
    There is an example of its use with string substitution on page 1029.
    (Note how the printf-type function syntax--e.g. %d--is used to convert integers into strings.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to convert an int variable into String type

    hi everybody

    i have to implement a code which goes like this
    Chioce ch;
    for(int i=0;i<32;i++)
    // here i need a code to convert the int variable i into a string variable
    ch.add(String variable);
    how do i convert that int variable i into a String type variable??
    can anyone help me?

    Different methods:
    int a;
    string s=a+"";or
    String.valueOf(int) is the better option because Int.toString() generated an intermediate object to get the endresult

  • How to insert into mysql the creation time and modification time from java?

    first how?
    Second what is better from create the date from java or do it from mysql?
    thanks in advace
    Pedro

    One way is to use the GetDate function in mysql. This will set the date as you insert data. insert into table(date) values(getdate())
    Anytime you modifiy the table just call the function again and update its fields.
    Dont know which is beter to do. In java or on the database side.

  • Convert java code into UML

    hello,
    anybody knows a software convert java code into UML? Classes Diagram.
    for example JBuilder do that.
    // i use Netbeans.

    its not a speed issue although sometimes it can be painfully slow (but now slower that sun one). I constantly found myself getting into infinite error message loops (e.g. "incorrect input"... click ok... "incorrect input"... errr click ok.... "incorrec..." etc etc), and also it (relatively) regularly falls over. I tried to export diagrams as GIFs, and when I imported them into Word they looked ok, but when I printed them they printed negative!! I used about 100g of toner before I realised, and had to go thru all diagrams changing them to JPGs. Plus, I think the interface for 6 is a lot less intuitive than 4.2, and it's trying to be too feature rich. Personally I would never use it as a code editor as it's too big and lumbering. For me, it's a diagramming tool, but it doesn't even put pretty pictures as nodes on deployment diagrams!! I want pictures of workstations, PDAs and databases!! Only kidding...

  • How to use Borland JBuilder9 to convert Java into C?

    Hi there!
    I know this topic has been discussed since the beginning of time, but I would like to compile a Windows executable (.exe). I have tried all possible tools (e.g. exe4j, JET etc.) to do so, but they all do require a JVM at some level. I heard that Borland JBuilder 9 has the capability to convert Java into C code and then compile it directly. Has anybody done that before? And if so, how does it work? I have been playing around with JBuilder, but have not been able to find an option to do so.

    So, does "aHse.getBidPrice" expect an int or an Integer as its parameter? And does it return an int, or an Integer, or what? The answer to those questions may lead to your solution -- look at what you are actually using as the parameter, for example.
