Copying files - how to skip bad files and continuing to copy?
I recovered some files off a dieing HDD (approximately 600GB worth). These are sitting on a good condition and fully functioning external HDD. I am trying to copy these files from this external HDD to another external HDD. It appears that some of the files that were recovered are actually corrupt as when copying and pasting, it gets to around the 120GB mark before I received the following error:
"The Finder can't complete the operation becauise some data in [files name] can't be read or written.
(Error code -36)"
When attemping the Ditto command in terminal, at the same point, I get the following error in Terminal:
"Volume/[drive name]/[folder name]/[file name]: Input/output error"
Due to the number of files (in the 100's of thousands I believe) I do not want to start trying to copy and paste individual files and folders.

Before i can view report i have to give SSO Username and password i want to skip this step and report can be executed directly from my Forms.
i have already commented the SSO lines from my formsweb.cfg file. as shown below

There are two big steps you'll need to do this
Enable and configure SSO for Forms

Enable WNA for OAS : Read Metalink doc 345025.1. It is not a simple process.
WNA will log into the SSO server via Kerberos. When the Forms connection fires off, it is from the Forms server, so Kerberos is not an option. Instead the Forms server will use a Resource Access Descriptor (RAD) to retrieve username/password/sid logon information from the OID server stored in the OID SSO account that your authenticated into via WNA
If you are already using Portal & have users sign, then WNA is not needed & just go with the SSO for Forms. -

I have a report that needs to work with data saved in a CSV file in another server connected with XI.
In my report I have to call a function to read de CSV file, wait, and continue when XI gives me the response.
Is possible that scenaro? How can I built that? My RFC function is just an empty tables parameter that waits to be filled by XI. Now the problem is the XI. How can I read the file synchronous and fill the RFC response?

no, this is not possible. At least, not w/o further development. You can't use FILE adapter for this (does not support sync processing). What would be possible - develop a web service, which will be called, reads the file and returns it back to the function. So the whole process would look like this:
You call some function in R/3, this sends request to PI, PI transforms the request and sends it to Web service. Web Service reads the file and returns it back to PI & PI sends this to the calling function.

How to catch date errors and continue processing in a PL/SQL procedure
I'm updating a date field with dates constructed from day, month and year fields. The incoming data has many instances of day and month that are not valid dates, ex 11 31 2007. There is no 31st day in November.
I would like to write a pl/sql script to scan the table containing these values and log the rows that produce conversion errors.
I thought I could do this with exceptions but there are no exceptions that correspond to the ORA-01847 error for mismatched day and month.
Here is what I tried (the print procedure is a local wrapper for DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line):

There are lots of different error messages associated with bad dates. Rather than try to catch them all, I use a BEGIN ... EXCEPTION block that contains nothing but a TO_DATE call. This is one of the rare occassions when I think "EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS" is okay,

How do I reset controls and continue or reset controls and stop?
I am trying to find a way to reset 16 controls and 8 indicators and continue or exit.
I have a system where a change in input will cause the LabVIEW to contact another processor via RS232 and send the change. There are eight seperate circuits to control and each has an enable and voltage input. I have the individual circuits operation with a change of either input but when I try to reset all 16 inputs and 16 indicators then continue or reset the inputs and indicators and stop (I need to do both) the system hangs up. In the debug (light bulb on) mode the system works but normal operation the system hangs up.
I have attached the VI's for this system.

Diode_Ctrl_2.vi 270 KBI changed a couple of things in the way you were doing the reset and stop. Look at these changes and see if they work OK.Also the vi named diode control if there is no dependency as to which one gets set first then the way you have it is ok but if there is a dependency the way you have it wired there is no guarantee which one will run first.

MySQL - how to remove bad installation and reinstall correctly.
I installed MySQL and I'm getting permissions errors on files, directories and also getting error messages regarding missing files. I'd like to completely remove MySQL and attempt to reinstall it. Can anyone give me detailed steps needed to remove MySQL, or point me somwhere that I might be able to find them? I'm running Leopard 10.5.2. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
Well, before reinstalling you could try this in Terminal:
*cd /usr/local/mysql*
*sudo ./scripts/mysqlinstalldb*
*sudo chown -R mysql data/*
That will reinstall the default database and will take care of your permission errors (well, at least I hope so). -
How to solve firefox crashing and continuous "unresponsive script" messages?
I've had this issue for a couple days now. When in firefox and having multiple tabs open, the tab that I am on will freeze and an "unresponsive script" message will come up. When I only have one tab open, the browser will shut down completely without any message. I have already tried disabling all of my plugins, allowing the script to run longer, restarting firefox, and even uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. None of these seem to work for me. Does this mean I have a virus? Are there any other things I can try or should I have this looked at?

I need to perform an update on a table like this:

set myColumn = ltrim(myColumn, '0'); --trim all leading zeros
I wnat this to perform on every row where it does not conflict with my unique constraint. I do not want to disable the constrataint because then I will end up with dupplicate records.
Is it possible to create a script where the query executes on all rows where it does not conflict with any constrain? ...and simpy skip the confliction-rows?

I have my aplication(power quality analiser),This VI obtain several varibles and make a lot of calculus and operation, to obtein others parameters in real time so my problem is Save the acquire data and calculus data into a file (similar as a report) every period(custumizable for the user in time units)
I mean make a only one file wich is write every period continuously , e.g. Start my principal VI and this event start the write of file, past one period,make other row or colum into the same file and continue that way until we stop the principal VI.
How can I make that?

assuming you have your trigger (notifier or just periodically) you can append the data to a single record.
Open the file, set the file position to the end, write the data and close the file.

Can't import photos from files and folders
Elemetns 11-- jsut bought it yesterday. Have used previosu versions for years but not on this pc.
Each time I try to import, it goes thorugh some number of photos, up through 2,00 plus sometimes and then says import failed and I get nothing. It claims the file is the wrong type (only jpgs and psds). I don't know what the stumbling block is or why elements doesn't jut ignore files it can't read and go on to the next.
Any help. AT this point Elements is totally useless for me.

shAfter posting I tried importing one directory at a time until I found one that made elements screw up.
thentry smalll groups of files in that directory until I, like running through a binary tree, narrowed down the offending file.
Then I remoce that one file and continue searching for the next file What should have been a single operation taking minutes was very tedious, manually wading going through hundreds of directories and thousand of files.
Outcome: there were 3 troublesome files (each in a different directory) holding up the import of more than 11,800 files. Shame Elements couldn't just offer to skip a file it didn't like instead of self-cancelling the whole import operation. cost me many hours of time. I'd call this a critical bug in the program error handling. I am amazed that a program this old, that's gone through as many revisions as the elements organizer has a bug in th error handling like this. -
I converted aif files to mp3 files in iTunes so I could put them on a flash drive. Now when I transfer an album to the flash drive I get both the aif files and the mp3 files on the flash drive. How do I get the iTunes to only copy the smaller file?
My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules. You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard. -

I Use logic and back my audio file and projects on an external HD ,this has now packed up . I have all the files in the MBP , but need to copy them to a new external HD, I have only 10GB left on my machine , how do I copy 200GB from my machine to a new External HD.

How long will it take? Hard to say without knowing the type and speed of the drives in question.. and even then it's hard to estimate... but does time really matter?
The fact you only have 10 Gigs left will/may slow the process down but it wont/shouldn't stop it...
If needed.. just drag and drop some of the files at a time.. not all of them.
Remember that copying files doesn't delete them from the original drive... You will still need to delete them yourself after they are copied over and empty the trash....
However....
When you saved these projects in Logic (Pro X?) did you save them using the include audio files option?
If not, then when you move the audio files used in these projects... Logic will not know where they are to reload them........ and that will cause you issues.
So.. if you didn't...
I would use this method instead...
