Correction and Multi-cam

I am putting together a multi-cam sequence. I have applied color correction to the clips but when I select when using the project panel I only get the original (un-corrected) clips  in the sequence - what am I missing? Or do I have to do correction after compiling the multi-cam sequence?

Not quite sure I get it.  How have you applied the color correction to the clips?  By putting them in individual sequences?  It doesn't quite work that way.
You have to make the multiclip first by setting In or Out points or putting markers in all the clips.  Then right click and select make multiclip.  You'll get a sequence with an icon of all the clips.  Next you drag this onto the "make new item" button.  This creates a multicam sequence based on the format of your media.
make new item button:
Multiclip and Sequence icons:
I always rename my sequence with "SEQ" so I can quickly tell them apart.
You edit the multicam using the "Multi SEQ" in the timeline.  You will only see one audio track and one video track
To color correct an entire camera angle (at any time in the editing process), you right-click on the multiclip to load it into the timeline.  You will see a video track and audio track for every angle in the multiclip  Just double click the one you want to to color correct in the timeline here to load it into the Source monitor.  You can color correct it there.
Hope this helps

  • Staggered Clips and Multi-Cam Editing

Good afternoon! I recently shot a memorial service with two cameras. The footage from each is staggered because one camera records to tape; the other to a 64gig SD card, and both were started/stopped at different times to allow for tape or card swaps, or battery swaps. I need guidance on how to best synch all the media that I'm bringing onto a timeline, since a synch point normally aligns the points of the first clips from Cam A and Cam B, but how do I then synch second and third clips from the two cameras? I'm sure there is a simple, practical answer, but haven't found it. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Simple edit like this..
I would just lay down a Master Vid from one camera and drop shots on top if I and where I had a better shot.
He has 2.5 hours of event covered in 2 cams!
What a painful multicam session to deal with on the fly once he has gone thru and synched it in the first place.  May as well cut it  same time.
Multicam is really designed around multi cams in continuous run mode. 'live broadcast style'
Certainly works best if one has set up properly with decent time code / jam synch etc..

  • Color correct after multi cam edit

    Hi Y'all,
I've just completed my mulit cam edit from a 2 cam shoot. I now want to drop a color corrector filter
on just camera 1. Is there a way to drop the filter onto one clip and have it apply to the rest of the clips
or do I have to highlight each clip from camera 1 and then paste attributes?
    THANKS!

The only way I could think of would be to duplicate the full clip on the finder level, color correct the entire clip and export it with current settings and then reconnect all the clips from that reel to the exported qt.  Multiclips can get a little quirky so I'd probably collapse all my multiclipls first.  If you moved your original clip at the finder level (with fcp closed) and replace it in it's original location with the new file and rename the new file to match the old name exactly, fcp should reconnect automatically.
Maybe there's a faster way to do this.  Generally I move each angle to it's own video track and then use the t key to select everything in that track and apply the correction.

  • Time code, subtitles, and multi camera.

How can I put subtitles and time code on the picture. I also need to know how put a graphic up while I keep the audio from one of my cameras.
    Thank you very much.

For subtitles use the text/Title generator and for timecode download Piero's free Timecode Display:-

  • Multi-cam clips and favourites

Have I understood this correctly?  If I have a long clip that I want to break down into 'sub-clips' I can only do so by selecting part of the clip as a favourite. If I now want to make a part of those long clips into a multi-cam clip, one would assume that one would 'favourite' each of the clips and then multi-cam them. However when I do that, the multicam process ignores the 'favourite' attribute and synchronizes the entire clip. This can take a long time. As soon as its done one then has to discard 90% of the labouriously created multi-cam clip. Or is there another way of doing this?

That is not my experience. If you select "Show only Favorites" in the Event Browser, you will see only the parts marked as favorite.
Now select the ones you want and create a new multicam clip. It should just use the favorite, not the whole clip.
Actually, when I did that I used a particular keyword instead of marking as favorite, but I expect it should work as well. If not, then you can do as I did, and mark the portions of the clips you want with an appropriate keyword.

  • Multi cam Monitor in PPro 5.5 is blocky and low res

Is there some type of setting that will make my Multi-Camera monitor look like it did in Premiere Pro 5? right now is very pixelated and blocky. I haven't used Multicam Monitor before in PPro 5.5, but 5 it was ok (it didn't gang realtime with the program monitor but maybe someday).
Is there some setting or glitch I've missed?
I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8, Mac Pro 24GB with Quadro 4000 card.
    Thanks much for any advice!

Have you updated your drivers for the Quadro 4000 and Mac OSX v10.6.8?

  • Camera RAW Lens Correction and Chromatic Aboration

Looking in the Camera RAW Lens Correction table I can't find a profile for my lens - Nikon AF VR NIKKOR 80-400mm 1:4.5-5.6D. The nearest in the table is Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 200-400mm f4G IF-ED. Is this near enough or is there any manual data I can enter.
When shooting at f5.7 400mm 1/800sec ISO3200 with my D3S it is showing some Chromatic Aboration can this be corrected by entering data manually? and what are the figures I should use?
    Kind regards,
                        Alan

The first thing you should do is update photoshop cs6 by going to Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6.
I don't know if camera raw 7.4 has a profile for that lens or not, so you might have to install the 8.1 beta i linked to in post #2.

  • When I attempt to apply a lens profile in the Develop module the only choices are for the Fujifilm X100/S/T even though in the Library module the EXIF data correctly shows the camera as the X-T1 and the precise lens used to take the picture. How do I get

When I attempt to apply a lens profile in the Develop module the only choices are for the Fujifilm X100/S/T even though in the Library module the EXIF data correctly shows the camera as the X-T1 and the precise lens used to take the picture. How do I get the right profile available?

First, the required profile needs to be present. LR 5.4 supports the X-T1 in terms of understanding its Raw format, but will not come with a profile for every lens which can be mounted onto that.
A profile is made for each specific lens, as mounted on a certain camera. It can also be used with pictures taken on a different (reasonably similar) camera body than the one originally used during profiling. This is subject to the sensor format: you can employ a given lens profile made for full frame, on an image from a crop sensor behind the same lens - but not vice versa.
Next, the image type needs to correspond to the image type which has been built into the profile: Raw, or non-Raw.
Lightroom offers only profiles of the right type for the image(s) concerned. There are many more provided for correcting camera Raw, than for correcting camera JPG. That is also the case with additional profiles, e.g. those accessed via the Adobe lens profile downloader utility.
Finally, in the event that there simply is no profile out there for a given lens, it is not particularly difficult (though a little tedious) for the end user to generate one, using a further Adobe utility which is downloadable as a package, including a range of checkerboard calibration targets, each of which needs to be printed at a stated physical size.

  • When importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed.

when importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed. need to figure out why it randomly imports differently, or how to add different file tyoes to multi cam.

here is one that is imported and stays .mp4. the specs are same as original file before import.
here is one that has changed somehow during import. specs on original file are same as above, but once it is imported it changes to this in event folder, and others randomly keep the above specs.

  • I'm editing multi cam with 4 cameras and my program keeps freezing up.

I think that the only way to stop this from happening is to increase my RAM but I wanted to find out, what is the recommended solution? I'm using Premier Pro CC 2015. on Windows 8.1.

First, that video controller seems to be a board-mounted one ... not "bad" as far as those go, but without it's own supporting cast so to speak. It doesn't seem to have any v-RAM, I'm assuming just uses the RAM of the computer itself. And at 8Gb, that's ... very minimal for the CPU. It's got more guts to the video capability than my laptop does, but not enough to really carry the video weight.
Second, with only your system drive and one USB3.0 external, your drive capabilities are very low. If that external has a faster-than-normal cache-read/write performance, and the only thing on it was your footage (media), at least the media could get read into the process decently though with multi-cam sequences that's a harder workload than single-clip work. With that setup, however you've got your various parts of the process laid out, you simply don't have the capability to pass data back and forth at playback speeds. Not even close.
Even a second internal SSD that you could put project files, cache, database, & previews on would improve your performance. It would still be low, but not as way low. That's one of the frustrating things ... these video programs are huge suckers of computer hardware capability. My laptop runs Lightroom & even Photoshop just fine. It's worse than yours for trying to do video on, however. But ... when I got it, I hadn't yet started down the video processing trail. All of 2-1/2 years ago.
As we can afford it, that will go to my wife ... also a professional portrait photog. I'll get something vastly more potent for the ability to do some video work on it.

Well, I've come up with a terrible, but comical solution for the second issue which doesn't involve reworking anything.  It turns out that, upon launching premiere, I can play the master sequence with nested multi-cam sequences a grand total of ONCE with minimal delay.  If I stop the play through, then it will take 3-4 minutes to get the sequence playing again.  Of course, the Premiere decides to hang when I try to close it after playing this master timeline, so I'm finding that I can inch my way through this project by (1) launching premiere, (2) playing the master sequence, (3) make the edits I need, (4) forcibly crash Premiere, and (5) relaunch Premiere and repeat.  It's a terrible way to work, but the project is so close to completion that I'm willing to suffer through it.
As to issue 1, I've taken each offending clip, extending the audio track one or two frames in the beginning of each clip, and then use those frames to ramp the volume up from silent to 0db.  This seems to avoid the brief moment of distortion at the beginning.  Notably I did try your suggestion by going back to the original, source audio, but I was still getting the same issue.  My work-around is the only solution I've been able to come up with.

  • Multi-Cam with (2) XDCAM HD and (1) EX

I am getting an error when I try to set-up my multi-cam. It does not like to mix codecs. What should be my next step?

wooh ....you are talking about a miricle if you want to have that data intact from moving the mobo's, with no backup ...the fisr2 has a promise ide raid on ide3...
that would be your best bet just to try but it will have to already have the promiserealtek fast drivers loaded....satas dont have jumpers as they only allow one drive per cable.
now if you want to install new drives on sata when your loading 1 you will need a cd or dvd for the windows cd..ide 2 ..and a floppy drive for the floppy drivers you need to set up xp if you want the os on the satas..in not load the os on ide and add drivers latter .
you will need to turn on sata in bios and set raid on as well if you use ide 3 etc..
    thats just a primer.....

Is Adobe software overpriced? Opinions vary.
And FCPX is a bloated inefficient Apple app not ready for prime time, but will function nicely as a hardware upgrade requirement, it's already started. Why do you think it's so cheap.

  • Color adjustment on Multi-cam clip in 10.1 not working and crash the app

In version prior to 10.1, I can do color adjustment on multi-cam clip and I can see the color change right away.
However, when I do the same action in 10.1, the change doesn't reflect immediately on the viewer. I need to move like a frame to have the effect shown. Sometimes, FCPX shows an error when I do that action and force me to quit the application.
    Anyone having similar issue?
    Any solution?
