Cost centre role in SD module

Hi FI/CO experts,
Do anyone know the cost centre role in SD module.?
In which scenarios we hve to use Cost centres in SD module.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
shabnum

Dear Shabnum
Cost center costs are always transferred to one profitability segment:
<u><b>-> Production cost centers</b></u>
These cost centers are first credited during production as the activities they perform (such as machine hours and assembly hours) are required. The amount of the credit is based on the quantities confirmed by production and on the activity prices (such as machine hour rates) usually calculated in cost center planning. The balances that are thus achieved - or the overabsorption/underabsorption remaining for the production cost centers due to the difference between credits and actual costs - are transferred en bloc in periodic profit analysis to those profitability segments in CO-PA that caused those costs.
<u><b>-> Sales and administration cost centers</b></u>
Many companies transfer the costs from administrative cost centers to CO-PA en bloc instead of allocating them to cost objects. This reduces the period results of the individual divisions, product groups, or business areas.
It is also possible to transfer postings that are made in Financial Accounting to cost centers and profitability segments at the same time. In this case, the postings are statistical in Cost Center Accounting, while the true costs are stored in Profitability Analysis. The system ignores these statistical costs in Cost Center Accounting when assessing costs to Profitability Analysis.

  • Restrict GL / Cost Centre combinations for users/roles?

    Hi,
Please could someone advise if it is possible to restrict Cost Centre and GL Account combinations during PO creation for specific users/roles?
    For example:
    Valid Combinations:
    CC A1  GL 99
    CC B2  GL 88
    Scenarios:
    Create PO with A1, 99   -> Allowed
Create PO with B2, 77  -> Not Allowed
I've found a related post, but not exactly my requirement - any other thoughts?  Or has anyone done this themselves?
Authorisations - User Profile for purchasing - restrict by cost centre

Use the user exit MM06E005 to control the CC and G/L for user dependent.
to do that - ask ABAPer to create the custom table for user, CC and GL combination and let teh user exit read the combination from the table and give a error or warning based on your requirements.

  • Authorization based on STD Cost Centre Hierarchy - different hier levels

    Hello,
I need to create an Authorization scenario where the same user, which have autorization based on Cost Centre Standard Hierarchy, would have access to Cost Centre Hier "NODE A" for "CUBE 1" and Cost Centre Hier "NODE AB" for "CUBE 2". The challange is that he cannot access "NODE A" on "CUBE 2".
How can I have this? Would it work if I create 2 different authorization objects based on cost centre, each one for a different cube?
Current authorizations are set up for CUBE 1 based on roles assigned to users and this affects more than 300 User ID. So I need a solution with few impact on what is already set up...
    BW version 3.1
    Thanks in advance

Just for the forum information, I have made further progress on this.
I have created different Authorization Objects (both based on cost cecntre) and assigned each one o a different cube. I will then have 2 roles assigned to the user: one role with Auth Object X will provide access to cube A only; the other role with Auth Object Y will provide access to cube B only.
Regarding the hiearchy level, as this does not depend of the Authorization Object but on the Cost Centre Object itself, I dont need to create (Tcode: RSSM) duplicated hierachy technical names for the same node of the hiearchy depending on the auth. Object.
Hope this helps who's browing on the forum and have a similar issue. Otherwise, please contact me.

  • Bad Debt By Cost Centre

Is there any business content (or combination of inforproviders) that shows me outstanding debts by customer and the cost centre that the revenue has been credited to?

    Hi
Usually revenue does not get credited to a cost center in R/3 but to profitability segments, internal orders, sales orders or WBS elements. However, it may be possible to derive the cost center from the master data.
To link the outstanding value of a customer, which is a balance sheet item (and not appearing in the controlling module) to the revenue (income statement item) will prove a bit difficult. There is no standard content to link this specific scenario.
Also remember that the outstanding balance is reflected at a specific point in time and may relate to a variety of invoices, while revenue is accumulated over a period as well.

  • Cost Centre Report by monthly

    Hello SAP Gurus,
We have developed a Zreport for Cost Centre report in monthly, for this i have used Table COEP , CSKS, SETLEAF. The report is working fine. It is not working for particular Cost Centre Group or Cost Element Groups, for this the values are taken from SETLEAF but other groups values are avialable in SETLEAF.thats why its working fine with some CCG or CEG
we developed Zreport based on the user requirement with above tables, so some values are missing with compare KSB1.
So please let me know how to find out CCG or CEG groups? in which tables?
    Regards,
    Raj.

    Hi Christain,
    Thanks for your valuable answer,
Here we are facing one more issue in same report. total is not matching, compare with KSB1.
Values are more in Zreport, in other words activity type cost elements are not reflecting in Zreport, but it reflecting in KSB1.
    example: flow from PM module.
Actually we had used logic  based on the Cost Centres, in that cost centre by taking Object number and it passes to COEP table, then we are getting values as same as KSB1.
As per investigation i found that the object number is differ from COEP table and CSKS table.
Exapmple : 1410000 object number in CSKS table, 1410000EL in COEP table, thats why in Zreport these values are not reflecting. Finally our requirment is , Zreport values should same as KSB1 vlaues.
So please give me inputs or logic how to over come this issue.

  • Cost Centre Reporting

    Hi,
We are a large company with around 40000 staff and have the following business requirement.
    - Cost centre reporting is expected to be hierarchical in nature but current Cost Centre structure in Australia is flat in structure.
    - Natural hierarchies already exist by organisational structure: Total Company, Business, Zone, Region, Area and Branch.
    - As a high level requirement, cost centre data should only be available to the manager of the organisational unit that they are managing and any lower level organisational units. Managers should only be able to view their organisational unit costs or lower organisational unit costs. They should not be able to view cost centre data across structures (peer organisational units) or higher levels of responsibilities (parent organisational units).
    - The ability to access cost centre reporting data should take into account HR delegations and substitution processes. This also needs to take into account the granting of the correct authority to the delegated person to run reports.
    - One possible option is to utilise the A250 Cost Centre Manager relationship in SAP to facilitate the security for cost centre reports.
I will be handling these requirements from a security perspective and would liike to achieve this without creating hundreds of roles and a maintenance nightmare.
A finance version of structural authorisations would be good
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Barb

    Hi Barbara
I have been in this situation a couple of years ago. We ended with a solution where I made a report for generating the roles based on the responsibility area, and where the user assignment where done manually. Not a very elegant solution, but it worked.
I can see that your requirement are a bit more sophisticated though. And if you do not want to generate a lot of roles I think you will need to develop your own concept for this.
But again, as authorization check are implemented directly in the source code, this is not a small task ~ at least my guess is that you will have to limit the number of report etc used by managers to very few, perhaps Managers desktop or Manager Self Service could help here ? Otherwise I guess my suggestion would be to develop my own reporting application, or try to convince the customer to give up some of the requirements.
The bottom line is, that SAP Finance really can't handle this in an elegant manor, So Yes  -  a finance version of structural authorizations would be a great Idea

  • Activity types cost Elements not reflecting in Cost Centre Report.

    Hello SAP Gurus,,
    1. Here we are facing one issue in Zreport. total is not matching, compare with KSB1.

    2. We need same functionality as same as KSB1 for match code or drop down menu functionality for Cost Centre Group and Cost Element Group,  but while user wants select from match code or drop menu (F4), as of now i didnt given any logic to abap for match code functionality or drop down menu (F4),so in this case which logic or table i have to use.
So please give me inputs or logic how to over come the above points.
    Regards,
    Raj.

The OBJNR field structure is as follows :-
    AABBBBCCCCCCCCCCDDDDDD
AA = object type eg. KS (cost center)
    BBBB = controlling area
    CCCCCCCCCC = cost center
    DDDDDD = activity type
Based on the structure, you will be able to filter the relevant cost center/activity types. You can also use other fields eg. cost element, partner object, source object, value type, etc. to get your desired figures as per KSB1.

  • Linking Cost Centre to Hierarchy via ALE

When sending new Cost Centres from our FMS Server to HR/Payroll Server via ALE & IDOCS, the Cost Centres are created, but there is no link to the Hierarchy. (ie) when going into transaction OKEN, they do not appear under the relevant group. However in KS03, the new Cost Centre is displayed with its Cost Centre group.
Is there a Function Module which can be run to rectify this, or can ALE be configured to do it.

    Hi Beena,
You can structure your cost centers into groups like
    - OverHeads
      *SalesMarkeing
      *R&D
      *Admin
      *HR
      *Service
      *MGMT Office
    - Manufacturing Depts

  • Cost Centre Splitting

    Dears
I am not very much conversant with Controlling.
Still I am supposed to do the period opening activities in Controlling.
I need a clarification on the Cost Centre Splitting.
    Cost Centre 300001 is having 3 activity types : MACH001, LAB001, FIN001
In our case, there is a Split structure Z1 and there are 35 assignments to this structure.
When I go into the individual assignment, say, first assignment (defined as 10),
I see that the selection criteria is Cost element group : AB0001 (5 cost elements) & ActivityType : MACH001.
    What does this imply ?
I understand that the total plan cost for the cost element group AB0001 will be allocated to the Activity type MACH001 for this Cost Centre 300001.
This cost will not be available to any other activity type in the same cost centre.
    Is my understanding correct ?

    Hi,
Please look into the following to know the concept of splitting:
Here I am providing the necessity and importance of splitting structure,
Expense Analysis and Splitting in Manufacturing Cost Centers
Introduction In SAP Cost center work as a cost responsibility center, where all the expenses and cost are stored and analyzed for the purpose of management decision making.
The cost could be fixed or variable in nature. The difference between variable and fixed costs can be made in various ways in product costing in CO module.
Fixed costs represent the static costs incurred by the organization, which doesn’t change on the basis on manufacturing activities, which remain constant irrespective of production activities like rent for the premises, salaries of office staff etc.
On the other hand, variable cost varies based on the level of production activities; if production activities increase then variable cost also increased like electricity consumes raw material charges etc.
However all the variable cost doesn’t vary in direct proportion by quantity of goods produced.
In this document will try to define; how the Expenses analysis and splitting of cost done in manufacturing cost centers.
From controlling prospective, fixed cost remain constant regardless of operating activities, but if these factor changes, variable cost will fluctuate.
Basically raw material costs represent variable cost, but in this document main focused will be given to distinguish fixed and variable activity cost.
The segregation between fixed and variable cost is optional and is derived from the configuration and master data configured in cost center accounting and overhead accounting.
    Activity Price:
There are different methods that could be used in cost center accounting to determine the activity price. The simple way is the manually enter “Fixed” and “Variable” Activity cost (KP26).
However there are other methods used in Cost center Planning and Budgeting that automatically calculate the fixed and variable activity price.
Here the focused will be given on Planning and Budgeting activity and automatic calculation of plan activity rate in cost center.
This method aggregate planned costs by cost element and capacity by plan unit to calculate the activity price.
Activity independent costs are segregated among different activities based on Splitting Structure, while activity dependent cost directly used for the purpose of variable activity rate calculation.
    Fixed Activity Cost:
In product costing all those cost, which doesn’t vary based on the activities in manufacturing cost will represent fixed cost.
In a manufacturing cost centers there may be two or more activities performed.
To calculate the activities rate, the fixed costs are distributed to various activities on the basis of Splitting Structure defined for cost center.
    Variable Activity Cost:
Variable activity cost, which directly depend upon the activity type and fluctuate based on increase or decrease in manufacturing activities. In SAP variable activity cost are directly linked to the respective activity.
Activity Prices: Fixed and Variable Split
In Cost Center Accounting dividing the cost between Fixed and Variable requires appropriate split to be made in the cost entered for the activity. The process is described below:
    i.  Variable cost would be planned at activity level and expenses should be maintained at cost element in the manufacturing cost center by assigning activity and cost element combination.
In other word, the expenses should be planned on Activity type at the time of primary cost planning (KP06).
Then the variable activity rates are calculated on Total cost planned at Activity divided by Total number of activity planned at that cost center (i.e. capacity in KP26)
ii. Fixed cost would be planned at independent of activity type. These costs are maintained in KP06 at cost element level on manufacturing cost center.
Then the fixed costs are distributed on various activity types on the basis of Splitting structure defined at OKEW.
In Splitting Structure we define the rules, how the fixed cost will be distributed to Activities. For the purpose of this document, considering split of fixed cost on the basis of Capacity maintained in KP26.

  • Auth Problem: restricting cost centre in ME21/ME21N

    Hi,
i need to restrict certain cost centres for some users in tcode ME21/ME21N .Currently there is no check in the programme. We have many plants in our system and many roles for different countries with this transaction.i need to activate this check for one country. How can I achieve this???
    Pls help.
    Thanks,
    Chittaranjan

    Hi Chittaranjan,
If there is no standard authorisation object currently programmed in ME21 (program SAPMM06E) and ME21N (program RM_MEPO_GUI), I can see two options for you.
Using either a standard authorisation object or a new authorisation object of your own:
    1) Change the standard code (not really recommended) and insert an AUTHORITY-CHECK statement against the chosen authorisation object.
    2) Investigate the possibility of using a standard user exit (see transaction SMOD). It looks like various exit points are available for SAPMM06E but I don't know how suitable they may be. Check in SMOD for exit names beginning with MM06* and engage a functional analyst to help identify a suitable exit.

  • Concurrent users reporting, by cost centre or group

hi, does anyone know of a way to report on peak numbers of
users across a cost centre or group, rather than just per meeting?
I can't find a way to do this, hope someone else knows how, it's

(don't mind either way, whichever works will be acceptable!!!),
multiple groups in company. Groups are cross charged for concurrent
licences, so I need to report on how these are being used.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Get Cost Centre from runtime - WS20000050 Step 372

I am using Workflow WS20000050 for approval of travel expenses
When i attach the standard rule to step 372 it works fine
I have created a Custom rule and want to attach to Step 372
I need Cost Centre data for processing and finding out the agent
How can i get the Cost Centre data (entered through PR05 TCode)
I see that the standard function module uses these macros
      swc_get_element ac_container 'ORG_OBJECT' org_object.
      swc_get_element ac_container 'OTYPE' org_type.
      swc_get_element ac_container 'OBJID' org_id.
I am not able to identify the parameter for Cost Centre. It should be a table because one claim can have more than one cost centres assigned to it. it is stored in table PTRV_SCOS

    Hi Sriram,
If you know that the table PTRV_SCOS stores the value of cost center, then you can write a custom  BO method to fetch the value of the cost center from this table.
Make a call to this BO method in your workflow and fetch the value in the workflow.

  • Add an u0093Allow Timewriteu0094 flag to Cost Centres

    Hi,
I have these queries regarding CATS & Costcentres. Any suggestion to these queries will be a great help to me.
I need to Add an “Allow Timewrite” flag to Cost Centres to indicate when CATS Timewriting entries are allowed to be received by a Cost Centre .
How to add a validation to the new field to ensure that, once the “Allow Timewrite” flag has been activated for a particular Cost Centre.
How to change the current CATS rule that is in place to prevent timewriting from being entered against any Cost Centres which have a Cost Centre Category (KOSAR).
    Regards,
    Prasun Podder

    Hi Rammi,
1.You can use rsecadmin for creating authorization objects.
Use zcc_all and in value authorization use cp *
Now in create a role with desired queries and add
S_RS_AUTH  BI Analysis Authorizations in Role
BIAUTH     BI Analysis Authorizations: Name of Authorization add zcc_all
attach this role to the User/s
    2. For specific values create auth obj with appropriate name and assign specific values. use that obj in a role and attach the role to user.
Whenever there is new Cost Center add that to auth obj instead of adding it to user.
You can search more on the t-code rsecadmin.
I hope this will help you

    Hi,
    This issue has been resloved.
    Solution:
    Step:1
Assign SRM standard or custom role like /SAPSRM/EMPLOYEE to user; Please make sure multiple values been maintained in attribute CNT cost center in PPOMA_BBP for the user
    Step: 2
Disable BE_F4_HELP authority activity for role /SAPSRM/EMPLOYEE in BBP Component > SRM: General Access Authorizations in EBP
    Step: 3
Apply SAP Note 668746 - COIN - Switching off OKB9 in EBP scenario in SAP R/3 as per note 815849 Solution 1
System will check during the processing of account assignment objects in an EBP scenario, the backend system reads the default account assignment (Transaction OKB9) as usual if EBP does not provide any account assignment. This note will Switch off OKB9 in EBP scenario and it will list the CNT values from PPOMA in the shopping cart account assignment F4 help.
