Costing for shearing orders without BOM
The client is into sheet metal stamping. The input materials for pressing are steel sheets in different sizes. Each FG can be produced from only one specific sized sheet.
These sheets are ideally to be procured directly in the required cut sizes. But in case of unavailability of the sheets in the required size, and due to high requirements, these sheets are obtained by carrying out shearing activity. In this, the required cut sizes are obtained by shearing other larger size sheets. Also, some other off-cuts might be produced while carrying out the shearing.
This being the regular scene here, we have defined the sheets as HALB.
But the possibilities of making a particular sheet from the other available sheets are vast. Again from a single sheet many other sheets (as co-products) are possible to be manufactured along with scrap(as bi-product). This makes it impossible to make any BOMs for the particular sheet.
The problem for this scenario is in costing. We can create a order showing the material to be produced, the co-products and the bi-products (All entered manually in order) but we are not sure how the costing will happen.
The material being HALB is given the price control S, and being BOMs are not maintained, the prices are not updated through costing run.
We have tried with both the price controls S and V. In both cases the costs of the materials are not updated through production orders.
Can you suggest some answer as to how the costing of the sheets would happen?
Hi,
As per your issue, you are not maintainnig both Co product and By product in Header BOM. instead your are adding the both material during the prodution order creation.
But Prerequisites is for both, should be defined as line item for Header material Bom.
1.Co product cost will be inclued in production order
For costing of co product u have to defien apportionment structure in material master ,to specifiey how the total costs should be distributed over the main product and the co-products.
2.By product cost will be Deducted from Production order cost.
For details information see the following SAP link,
url=http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/b1/c04fc6439a11d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm]Co product & By product[/url]
One more clarrification , for
" This makes it impossible to make any BOMs for the particular sheet" - why, if you shearing a sheet from larger one, u will have stock for required size sheet for Material .... why dont u create BOM...
once u create BOM it will solve your problem. if it usefull reward othrewise ignore

Is there a situation where we create a production order without BOM/Rtg ?
What I see in the system, I was able to create a prod order without maintaining master data for PP ( expect material master)
Is there a situation/scenario where we create a production order without BOM, Rtg
Does the above situation applies to scenario like special procurement key ( 40- stock transfer from other plant )
Please clarifyPradeep,
Thank you for detailed answer
Round robin of discussions
When you covert a planned order to a prod order with reference to a material (CO40), it will ask for routing
if rtg is not maintained for the material, the system will automatically pick the default rtg from OPJG
When you create a prod order ( without ref to a material- C007), say suppose for unplanned rework we have
maintain the rtg and BOM manually to the prod order
Lastly, FOR SPk - 40 ( Stock Transport) for the issuing plant both BOM & Rtg needs to be maintained in the recieveing & issuing plant

Hi,
Please tell me we have creating Production order without BOM(Bill of Material) & post the BOM Component of Production Order Manually. when developing the report Material Number wise then BOM not found in the report. So, i want to know that how to relate BOM Component with Material Number & which will be table to use in this report.
AmAnHi Aman,
which report?
If you don't select the BOM, then certainly there is no BOM component.
Furthermore, BOM are not referenced in the production order, but the components copied into the order, i.e. these are saved in table AFPO.
But if the components are not maintained manually in the production order (same table), and only the consumption posted directly as unplanned consumption, then you will have trouble getting a link. Possibly only in MSEG by identifying the production order number as the cost collector.

I want to create a Process Order without a BOM & Recipe . Is that Possible ?
I tried the following :
Material Master setting MRP 4 view -Explosion/Dependent Requirements section define " "(Blank) for Selection Method field
Order Type Dependent parameters (COR4)
Production Version Blank :
Recipe: Do not use Master Recipe
But the problem is that I cannot keep BOM application Blank
BOM application has the link for selection ID which is linked to BOM usage .
I am not able to bypass this check in any way & as a result it gives an error (No valid BOM) on Process order creation
Shall appreciate a responseHi,
Yes, it is possible to create process order without BOM & master recipe.
By having some config settings in place for BOM & recipe selection, you can create process order without BOM & recipe in SAP.
Normally, this scenario comes into picture where you're not sure about the operations to be carried out and materials to be consumed for an order.
For creating and testing such scenario, refer below SCN thread, which was discussed before,

BAPI KPF6 POST PLAN COST FOR INTERNAL ORDER AND COST ELEMENT
Hi all gurus,
I would like to use in a custom report a BAPI/Function Module that help me to simulate KPF6 in order to post planning costs for internal order and cost element (layout 1-401).
So the input should be:
1) Version
2) period from
3) periodo to
4) year
5) internal order n.
6) cost element n.
7) value
I found a lot of BAPI but don't know the correct one and how to use it (example how to fill the input value).
Can anyone help me on that?
Kind RegardsIn additio to the previous I found the BAPI_COSTACTPLN_POSTPRIMCOST but don't know if it's the correct one and how to use it (some example fitting the my case will be very appreciated).
If the quoted BAPI is correct.
I tested it filling all fields as following:
HEADERINFO:
CO_AREA=FFCA
FISC_YEAR=2008
PERIOD_FROM=001
PERIOD_TO=012
DOC_HDR_TX='blank'
INDEXSTRUCTURE:
OBJECT_INDEX=000001
VALUE_INDEX=000004 (hope this point at Interna Order)
ATTRIB_INDEX=000000
COOBJECT:
OBJECT_INDEX=000001
ORDERID=ZO53-08IMZ
TOTVALUE:
VALUE_INDEX=000004
COST_ELEM=3224048
FIX_VALUE= 200,0000
DIST_KEY_FIX_VAL=2
The Return table is set to 0. Nothing happens.....I suspect something related to indexstructure or index is wrong..
Could anyone help me on that?

Production Order for a material without BOM and Routing
Is it possible to create a production order for a given material without routing and BOM, I know we can
create a production order for a material without a BOM (with a default routing) just wanted to check with
the above criteria
Thanks in Advance!!Members:
Thank you for your valuable replies and time
Santosh:
Tried what you have mentioned, but system still picks up a default routing
Kaushik:
Maintained Default values in OPJG for the given order type, but system still picks up
default routing

have no issue in creating a production order without a BOM, but I am trying to see
is there a way where I can create a production order without a BOM and routing (not
even default operation )
Any suggestions on how to create a production order for a material without a BOM

Costing for sales order BOM vs Production BOM
Hi gurus,
can some one please explain in clear how is costing different if we use sales order bom versus if we use production bom.
ThxI Feel Your are asking about Sale order costing and Std cost estimate using production BOM
IN sale order costing- You can use any BOM ( sale BOM or production BOM), IF you carried out costing in sale order level in Va01/Va02, system will read the BOM, routing for that material & system will take the costing lot as sale order qty and carried out cost estimate, This cost estimate value will update In condition as EK02. & system will take this Ek02 price for production GR value, PGI value and the profit is calculated based on Ek02 not based on VPRS( std cost estimate)
Production costing:
System will take the costing lot size in material master costing view, System will read the BOM and routing for the material in Ck11n, And you need to mark and release in Ck24, this value will update as Std cost price in material master, this value is atken for Goods movement for that material -

Actual Costs for Production Order
Hi All
I have a scenerio where they dont want any product costing methods say WIP,Variance calculation & Settlement.
When the Goods receipt is done for production order the actual costs and the Activity costs to be valuated.
Regards
Jayshankar.AHi,
In our case the Standard price is updated in the material master. For this, you need to create a costing estimate using T-Code CK11N and update & release in CK24.
When CK11N is executed the standard price is calculated for the material by taking Moving Avg Price of RM (Price indicator V) and the activity costs are calculated as per data given in KP26. These cost components are added and a final cost estimate is prepared, which is updated using T Code CK24.
the pre-requisites are:
1. BOM should be maintained.
2. Routing should be made.
For executing the same procedure for all the materials, you can use T Code CK40N.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
Revert for further details.

GR Cost not updating as Target Cost for process orders
Dear SAPians,
We are facing an issue in Target Vs Actual cost reporting for process orders. We are creating a process order after cost estimate of that material and doing the confirmations for activity cost. After that, GR has been done for the finished goods of that process order. That GR entry is updating the Actuals values but not updating the Target cost. When I am checking the standard report KKBC_ORD, I am getting the following figures.
Cost Elemnt Text | Target Cost | Actual Cost | Target Vs Act
Inventory Chnge FG | 0 | 1,472,205.60- | 1,472,205.60-
Packing Matrl Cons. | 1,148,142.37 | 1,252,752.68 | 104,610.31
Raw Material Cons. | 60,463.91 | 50,688.29 | 224.38
Semi-Fin Matrl Cns. | 181,934.68 | 367,959.56 | 186,024.88
Labour Cost Activity | 39,735.36 | 39,862.80 | 127.44
Machine Cst Activty | 41,611.75 | 43,153.01 | 1,541.26
That 'Inventory Change FG' entry is showing the GR posting updating actuals and not target cost. This is causing huge difference in target vs actual cost that will affect the profit and loss figures ultimately.
What am I missing here? What should I do to update the GR amount in Target cost as well.
ShiraziDear,
Target Cost on Production Order or Process Order is shown only when Variance is Calculated.
So please calculate the Variance, system will show the Total Target Cost.

Profit center for purchase order without account assignment
I've requirement to include profit centers in purchase orders without account assignment category.
The trouble is when there is no profit center maintained in material master.
Is there a way to determine profit center in purchase order for such cases?Dear Abinash,
Define substitution in GGB1 at line item level as shown below:
Prerequisite : BSEG-WERKS = Maintain plant
Substitution : BSEG-PRCTR = maintain profit centre as constant value
After define it, assign to the co.code.

Getting Total Order Cost for each order
I have a fact table, order lines.
There are two dimension tables, customer & Product.
For each order i want to display on a pivot table:
- the cost of the line.
-the cost of the total order.
Is this possible? I have been playing with ALL & All except but have not found a solution yet. some metadata is below
CustomerID CustomerName
1 john
2 mary
3 jim
4 kevin
ProductID ProductName Price
1 pen 5
2 cup 4
3 car 7
4 phone 3
OrderLineID CustomerID ProductID Quantity

2 2 1 4
3 1 2 5
3 1 2 4
3 4 4 6
4 4 4 6Hi Winston,
Could you kindly provide an example of the output you'd expect based on the above data? Also, I've noticed that there is no OrderID column in the order line table. How would you determine which OrderLineIDs belong to a single order?
Regards,
Michael Amadi

HI,
Actually I am in a Roll Out project. Due to some error in configuration Maintenance order cannot calculate costs. After some time we track the error and made rectification for that.
But, for orders already created before the rectification cannot have costs. My client asks me to track those costs. How will i do that? The costs for order after rectifiction is working well?
How i made the reflection for previous orders too?
Regards,
VarmaHi,
You can use transaction OLI5 (or program RIPMCO00) to recalculate costs for a range of orders.
