Couldn't display Crystal Reports viewer (crviewer.dll)

Hi
If I try to run a report i get this message:
"Couldn't display Crystal Reports viewer (crviewer.dll). Contact your ClearQuest administrator to verify that crviewer.dll file is registered."
I am using Rational ClearQuest with Crystal Reports 11.5.0.313 on a 64bit Windows 7
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
Thanks!

It's entirely possible that this version of the viewer (which is quite old and no longer supported) is ont supported on Window 7.  However, we have no idea how Rational may have implemented the Crystal SDK, so your best bet is going to be to contact them for assistance with this.

  • I couldn't use Crystal Report Viewer Control in my ASPX page.

Please I'm having a problem with crystal report viewer control which I couldn't resolve. I'm using VS 2008 and Framework 3.5.
I building an ASP web application and when I add a CrystalReportViewer to my ASPX page I'm getting the following
    error.
"Error     20     Type 'CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer' is not defined."
I think maybe because I'm not having the right reference file. I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 and also I installed the following
    Service Packs:
    cr121_redist_install
    CR2008-SP1
    CR2008SP1-Fixes 1 and 2
    cr121_clickonce
I check all the reference files in my project and they are as follow:
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine  (12.0.2000.0)
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\dotnet2\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll
    CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework  (12.0.1100.0)
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework.dll
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStore.dll  (12.0.1100.0)
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\dotnet2\CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll  (12.0.2000.0)
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\dotnet2\CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll  (12.0.2000.0)
Please Why I'm getting this problem? How I can resolve it?
    Thanks.

If you have a viewer on one of your forms, delete it off the form and re-add it, ensuring that the crystalreports.web assembly referenced in your project is version 12.

    Hi,
I am using Crystal report viewer (Crviewer.dll) version 11.0.0.1282 to show crystal reports in my VB6 application. When we search for any text in a multipage report after the last find system shows a message "Crystal Report Viewer" "Text cannot be found in the report" and trows an unhandled error and closes the application. How can I fix this?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance.

    Enter the following:
    viewer blank net crystal
into the search box in the top right corner. You should get a number of hits (Kbases and articles) that should point you to a solution.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer 11.5 fails in Vista

We are using the Crystal Reports Viewer (crviewer.dll) version 11.5.10.1263. It works fine in XP but fails with the following error in Vista:
A first chance exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in sprdlgs2.dll
An unhandled exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in sprdlgs2.dll
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
Sprdlgs2.dll is the DLL that contains the dialog in which the viewer resides. I know that crviewer.dll is registered correctly.
Our product is a C++ MFC multi-document application migrated from Visual Studio 6.0 to the .NET Framework 2.0 with the managed code flag (/clr) on.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Peter,
As Jason indicated the RDC has not been tested with Vista nor any version of .NET IDE. RDC is COM and Microsoft is moving away from COM and to their Framework which as you said you must also do as we must. Even though MS upgrades their OS's we can't follow for old technolgies, it just becomes too much coding and vertually becomes a new version of CR with the amount of work required. To move CR forward we try to release patches for the current versions that are 100% backward compatable with the current OS's. XI R2 with SP2 now supports Vista through a service patch.
The RDC has not been updated since Version 9 at that time Windows XP and 2000 were the only OS's available and they fully supported COM. It simply becomes to costly to make everything backward compatable. For developers like yourself you can appriciate this, do you still support Windows 3.1? At some point everyone has to cut off backward compatablity.
Moving forward because .NET 2008 is also new, even XI R2 has problems with it, this is due to MS updating their 1.1 Framework to 2.0 and 3.5. they changed things which we had specific dependencies on so now we have to also change, this all takes time to implement.
So this becomes a "best effort support" case since you are doing this on an unsupported platform. I did not see any results of your testing in debug mode on Vista? Install .NET 2008 on a Vista 32 PC and run your app in debug mode, if you use Vista 64 set your compiler to use x86 only. I believe your dll's are wrappers around the crviewer.dll and is likely either a permission issue with our COM(ActiveX) dll's or your dll's. Using regedt32.exe will give you the ability also to change permissions on the viewer and possibly your dll. It may be that Windows is not allowing your exe to access your wrapper as the error suggests in your original post.
Bottom line is, you should upgrade your app to use the .NET assemblies and stop using the RDC. There are lots of samples and fairly easy to migrate what your RDC app is doing to .NET code. Coding won't be one to one but the steps to execute a report and view are the same.
    Thanks again

The component you are looking for is the Crystal Report Viewer Control x, where x is your version of Crystal Reports.
You can also browse to the file, it is crviewer.dll.

  • Display only graph in the Crystal report viewer

    Background:
We used Crystal Reports ver10 to display various graphs in our ASP.Net 2.0 Web Application (Visual Studio 2005)
We recently migrated our application to .NET 4.5 and Crystal Reports ver13 (Visual Studio 2012)
    Issue:
Now, the Crystal Report Viewer control loads the graph inside an <IFRAME> which shows the whole page with the graph placed on the right bottom corner instead of just the graph image as it used to previously.
I have checked various properties that hides the tree and the toolbar and I am unable to get rid of the whole page.
    Query:
Is there a way to not display the page and display only the image that contains the graph? OR
Is there a way to not render the whole <iframe> and just display the graph image inside a <div> as it used to happen before?

Hi Ludek, thanks for your response. Please refer the screenshots below.
    1) CR ver10 - the graph <img> is simply enclosed inside a div
    2) CR ver13 - the graph <img> is enclosed inside an <iframe>'s body - you can also see the scroll bars and "white-page-background" and "grey space" which I am hoping to hide or disable
    3) We are using the same set of CRViewer properties in both cases:
    - DisplayGroupTree = False
    - DisplayToolbar = False
    - HasDrillUpButton = Flase
    - HasRefreshButton = False
    - HasToggleGroupTreeButton = Fasle
    - HasViewList = False
    - HasZoomFactorList = False
    - EnableViewState = True
    4) Here's a screenshot of of the .rpt file opened in the VS 2012:
We only want to render the graph image on the UI and not the whole page. Is there a property setting that will help us achive this or should we define explicit CSS styles to hide those areas?
Thank you for looking into this!

  • Cannot display Crystal Report with ActiveX Viewer

I am using SmartViewerActivex.asp in a classic ASP website to display Crystal Reports and the report will not load.
I get a blank grey screen with only the toolbar showing but able to export out with data intact.
    I am  using CR9, running in Windows Server 2012 R2 IIS 8.5.
I've already spent about 2 weeks and have not found an answer. Please HELP!

Unfortunately, no help available. I suspect when CR 9 released in 2002, Win Server 2012 was not even a twinkle in Bill's eye. E.g.; you are looking for CR 9 to be 10+ years forward compatible. In other words, it is not supported on WIN server 2012.
Possible option is to upgrade to CR XI R2 (v. 11.5). There you have a weak prayer and hope. With luck it may work. Note that CR XI r2 was the last version of CR to include the AcitiveX viewer. And CR XI R2 has been out of support for over 2 years now.
Best bet: CR SDK for VS .NET or CR SDK for Java. This would mean a new app...

  • Crystal Report Viewer not displaying properly in on loading

I am using Visual Studio 2012 in Windows 10 with IIS 8.5. I configured Crystal reports properly but when I load the webpage the Crystal report viewer doesn't load properly and the toolbar and other options are not showing. Please help. Following is the problem am talking about:

    Hi Zaeem,
Windows 10 is not currently supported. We plan to add it to the supported platform in SP 14 which is planned for sometime end May.
I tried it and make sure you are loading the Viewer and Report in the Page_Init section. Also the CrystalReportsViewer folder must be included in the project.
Try searching and you'll find info on this subject.

  • 2  Spider diagrams, only one displayed in Crystal Reports Viewer 2008

    Hi,
I have two Spider diagrams in the report. One shows values for this and another for previous year. The second diagram is placed on top of the first. The diagram below has white background and the diagram above has transparent background.
Everything works as it should in the Crystal Reports Developer. But Crystal Reports Viewer shows the "transparent" diagram only, that is on the top.
Has anyone experienced such before? Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Yes, I can see them. In Crystal Reports Developer I see them in both ways. In the Viewer only side-by-side.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

  • Crystal Report Viewer and Windows Vista

    Hi,
We are using RDC methodology for launching the crystal reports in the web using ASP.
The web server operating system is Windows 2003, Crystal Reports XI is installed in it.  Report is not launching in only one client machine.  For all the other client machines reports are launching perfectly.  The problem is blank white activex control is displayed.  I tried to register the crystal reports viewer (ActiveXViewer.cab available in the crystal installation folder) deliverables in the client machine but after installing the deliverables same problem persists.
When I click on the Crystal Report viewer Internet Explorer Exception occurs
The following add-on was running when this problem occurred:
    Add-on Name:      CRViewer.dll
    Company Name:      (Not verified)Business objects
    Description:                           Crystal Report Viewer
    Two buttons
Advanced... and Continue are shown but when we click on the button IE crashes
The client machine operating system is u201CWindows Vistau201D service pack 2
Internet Explorer 7 version is installed in it.
In the client machine event viewer log the following details are available.

Could any one help me regarding this.

    Hello,
First thing to do is upgrade to [CR XI R2 SP4 full build|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100011802732008E/crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe]. Then get up to Service Pack 6 and you should not have problems with Vista.
CR XI R1 will not and has never been tested on that OS.
If you do not want to upgrade though use Process Monitor to watch for Access Denied errors. Also run IE in Compatibility mode.
Likely what is happening is your test PC doesn't have rights to install ActiveX controls.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Crystal Report Viewer integration with Sharepoint 2010

We had a requirement in our project to view crystal report off an hyper link embedded into sharepoint web part developed using ASP .NET. The report accepted few parameters from the sharepoint page and passed those on to the SQL server to retrive data and
display the data in the report. The challenge was to open the report in the web browser.
The first difficulty was to find the right control to use, the report viewer tool that comes with Visual Studio 2010 is not the right one to use to view Crystal reports, I realised this after spending half a day trying to figure out why wouldn't the report
load. I then downloaded the Crystal Report Viewer for VS 2010 Standard from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp. After you install this, you get the crystal report viewer in your toolbar. All you have to do is drag and drop it on
to the web part and configure it to use your report. If any one needs help with this let me know I will show how to do that.
So far so good. The biggest challenge was to deploy this on to the production server which took better part of 3 days to figure out how its done. If you deploy the WSP file as it is expecting that the crystal DLLs would be embedded in it then be ready to
expect a rude shock because it isn't. Here are the steps -
    1. Deploy the WSP to the sharepoint server
    2. Install the crystal dlls used in the project (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Web.dll) into the GAC using GacUtil command
    3. Add following entries to Web.Config file (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.congif)
        <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False"
    />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Shared" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
    4. Install crystal redistributable package which can be downloaded from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp (
SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (64-bit))
    5. Copy aspnet_client folder from C:\>inetpub\wwwroot and overwrite it on C:\>inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80
And we are done. Fingers crossed it should all work.

    Hi Mahesh,
How are you loading the report in your webpart? This is what I have done. I have tried to explain what I am doing in the program comments. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer seems to have data - but it is not showing

I am developing on a Windows 7 box and publishing a VS2010 web application to a Windows 2008 server.
On the server I have installed CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0
Reports are stored in a folder on that server.
When I run the application on my local machine the report displays okay via the Crystal Reports Viewer on a .aspx page.
When I run the application on the server, if I view the source of the page that contains the Crystal Report Viewer - it seems to have fetched the report okay. But it is not showing on the screen. I was thinking this might be because it can't find the 'style.css' file but on both the development machine and server all the various folders and files in and under crystalreportviews13 are present in aspnet_client/system_web/4_0_30319/
When I view the source of the pages that display the report - they seem to be identical both when viewed on my development box and when accessing the app directily on the server. But, on the .aspx page displayed by the server, the page is blank in the browser. Yet, as I say, when you view source all the data is there.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
Edit: In both cases if you View Source the page is showing this:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../aspnet_client/system_web/4_0_30319/crystalreportviewers13/js/crviewer/images/style.css" />
On my development box this makes sense. The web site in question is below 'Default Web Site' - i.e. it is at the same level in the folder hierearchy as the aspnet_client folder.
But on the server, the site is a subweb below a web site that is level with Default Web Site. So I figure the files are not being found. How can you tell the Crystal Reports Viewer that the files it wants (like style.css) are not where it thinks they are going to be?
So the app is looking for a file at the same level.
    But on the server there

  • "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects"

I'm using Crystal Reports Server XI and getting the error/pop up box: "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects" when trying to view a report through the website.
Any suggestions would be appreiciated. I'm very unfamiliar with Crystal Reports but it's fallen into my lap to install and suppor this application.
I have tried changing some browser settings to allow ActiveX content and such but that hasn't seemed to help. I also tried downloading a particular 3 .dll's files to my desktop and registering them, as well as re-registering them on the server. They were CRVIEWER.dll, swebrs.dll, sviewhlp.dll.
I'm using IE 7.0 and CR Server XI is installed in a Windows 2003 R2 SE server.  IIS seems to be setup OK.  I haven't changed any of the default installation settings that were configured during the installation on the virtual directory that was created.  I received no errors during the installation.  I'm also not seeing anything obvious pop up in the event logs.  I still have yet to do a log parser query looking for anything that says crystal reports.
    Thanks!

    Hi Wendy,
This issue might be better addressed by our .NET development forum,  however,  some of the things that come to mind are:
    1.  As a test are you able download the Active X Viewer from the client machine by accessing it via a URL:
    http:// <yourserver>/crystalreportviewers/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab
Does it prompt you do download the .CAB file?
    2.  If you have more than one version of the Active X Viewer installed on the client machine,  go through this SAP Note (1215398) from the Service Market Place to remove it.
    3.  Check your browser settings (Tools|Security|Custom Level) to make sure Active Controls are set to at least prompt.
    4.  Confirm with your network administrator if there are group policies that restrict the installation of Active X Controls or if users do not have the rights to install.
    Regards,
    Wallie
