Not sure what happend there. But ATV only streams, no HD so if you leave it too long, the whole download gets lost.

  • Export resolution changes from 720 x 576 to 768 x576

I am using QuickTime Pro 7.6.8 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I just tried exporting a captured avi file which has an aspect ratio of 4:3. It is PAL file with a resolution of 720 x 576--this is confirmed in the file properties > details. However, when I export this file from QuickTime as a mov file the resolution changes to 768 x576. Even if I choose "PAL 720 x 576 4:3" in QT Options > Size > Dimensions, the summary in Movie Settings states that the dimensions are "768 x 576 (current)".
If I select preserve aspect ratio using letterbox the movie summary indicates that the dimensions are "720 x 576 (768 x 576)". I am puzzled.
The exported mov files does not look distorted when I play it in QT Player. But when I import the mov file into an NLE, it appears to be distorted (too wide). How can I keep the dimensions strictly at 720 x 576.
Second question: I want to preserve the same quality of the captured MiniDV AVI file in the exported mov file for use in an editor. Which settings would you recommend for this?
    Thanks.

720x576 is the correct size. The only size used by PAL digital video. The other number is used as a square pixel representation, but it's never used in video. If you can't set the correct pixel aspect ratio in your animation application then make it using square pixels 768x576. Take that into the QuickTime Pro player and export to the correct aspect for DV PAL to conform the pixel aspect ratio.

  • What are the best export settings for1280 x 720 HD project to SD DVD

I just completed a FCP Studio project that is 1280x720p it will be burned to a SD DVD . My question is what would be the best settings to use in Compressor to  export this project so it could be viewed 16x9 on a SD DVD? Do I send it to Compressor from FCP Studio or should I export a QuickTime File using the current setting and then bring it into Compressor?

Export a self contained file. Bring that into Compressor...use the BEST QUALITY DVD presets.  And in DVD SP, in the inspector have it set for 16:9 and Letterbox.  This way the DVD player will detect if it's feeding an HD monitoror SD TV and display it appropriately

My Movie clips won't save in 1080?
They started out as very high res

What was the resolution of the first video clip you put in the project?   I believe it is this which sets the resolution for the project in iMovie 10.  It then won't let you save to a higher resolution.

    • how did you import, Full or Large?
    • did you optimize the clips..?
or, let's try the other way round:
    • in your Project, ctrl-click a clip
    • choose 'Reveal in Finder'
    • Apple-i that file..
    • what resolution do you read under 'additional info'?

  • What's the best way to export a 1280:720 mov file to high res wmv

Does anyone know the best way to export an HD 1280:720 Quick Time .mov to the highest possible res wmv?

fewer problems. It was a codec issue, I think regarding the latest codec. The solution, and it works for all the apps, was to make the frame divisible by 16 on all sides. It had to do with coding factors. But it worked. Since then, and the introduction of the iPad, we've dropped WMV altogether. We're now relying on Flash and MP4. MP4 is used in most places, particularly promos and marketing content. However, it's not at all easy to protect content from "redistribution" when using HTML5. It has a weakness in which it leaves a data trail that someone can follow back to the original video. Hmmm... so we code in a Flash wrapper, though I think my IT person may be using my MP4s for that. I'll have to check. Anyway, I'm down to mostly MP4 now.

  • Spooky Slow Export Time – Any Thoughts???

I’m running Production Premium CS6 package on Windows 7, AMD Phenom IIx6, 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 adapter.  (I know, my adapter is no longer supported.  A real editing card is on the shopping list!)
Here’s the issue: Editing a long clip for our local church with their new video system.  They, thankfully, added another camera angle with a standard camcorder.  This was the only footage recorded for the first ½ hour of the presentation due to the fact that the operator forgot to push his/her new button.  Consequently, this is the only footage that can be utilized during that time frame.  These segments were quite grainy and treated with Video Toaster, totaling two cuts at 6 and 8 minutes apiece.  5 more cuts, ranging from 12 to 28 seconds fall later in the piece.  These were all rendered separately and as the last renders of the process.
This footage was imported at 1080p/MP4.  Footage from the church system was recorded and imported in 720p/mp4.  There is an additional clip from an existent video of 16 minutes, imported in an mov. format.  Intro and out are mov. at 15 seconds with an additional 7 second of avi cut into the intro. All, with the exception of the MOV video, are laid over an audio track in a pkf format.
Effects are limited to the Video Toaster clips mentioned and Brightness & Contrast on all except the 16 minute video.  Overall duration is 1;20;15.  All unused clips and files were discarded and I’m exporting to the Vimeo 720, 29.97 preset in Premiere.  The first export estimated at 32 hours and an immediate 2nd calculated the export at 52.  After a check and double-check, I looked to Media Encoder where I saw an estimated 17 hour export before I declined this option.  Here I cleared the Media Cache and checked export once again, estimated at 24 hours and accepted this option.  That was 37 hours ago and the encoding sequence is currently at 68% with an estimated 15;29;53 left…
What I find distressing is that an export usually runs CPU’s at 90% or above and they are currently running between 17-33% at +/- 5 GB RAM.  This will ramp up on occasion to normal levels and I’ll see the encode progress, sometimes rapidly, sometimes in spurts.
My thoughts are that I’ve overlooked something obvious and sophomoric.  Similar pieces in length of this mix-and-match type have exported in much, much less time.  Did I drop the ball by clearing the Cache?  Is it Video Toaster… Or, could it be an unknown codec from the new camera system, to which I don’t have a clue???  I doubt it, but could it be the pkf and should I have taken this to an AAC?
Thanks for any and all advice ahead of time!

    Jeff,
Thanks for getting back so quick on this one.  Yes, CUDA is installed and up and running.  I didn’t import through Media Browser, but compiled all media in a folder on the desktop before beginning the project.  All auto-saves, etc., are placed here just so I don’t get things lost with projects like this.  I wouldn’t think this would slow it, but it’s a new format for me and seemed like a good idea at the time.  I’ve only done a couple other projects this way and haven’t noticed variables in speed before.  And, yes, I used “VBR 2-pass”.
    Here’s a full screen shot:
    Export:
The variables in this, as opposed to what I have experienced in the past, are those listed above; namely Video Toaster, but also the unknowns of the church cameras and the fact I cleared the cache.  Now, I did attempt to rerender, only to find this wasn’t necessary.
Also, it seems Video Toaster isn’t supported through CUDA as it requires full render.  Once this is rendered though, shouldn’t PP utilize this without having to re-encode?  Could this be what’s slowing the machine?  Again, my worry here is that I’ve overlooked the obvious, but I’ve been doing this quite a while… yet that’s when I seem to make the silliest mistakes!
The reason I didn't cancel this one was that I finally pulled the "go" trigger on it at 10:30pm and when I woke yesterday it was at 33%.  (Seemed a bit slow, but not overtly.)  While I was assessing the situation the CPU jumped to 90% and the "encode" bar gradually (as seemed normal) to increase to 51%.  Then, as the day progressed and up to this point, 26 hours later we, have it only at 68%.  This is a SPEC piece and I have a paying gig starting Saturday for which, I will need the machine.  My worry is that if all is working corectly and it is just being slowed by Video Toaster that I will have waisted valuable time.  The flip-side to this is obvious and that's why I finally decided to seek help here.
And, yes, I need an i7 processor but it’s great to hear your confidence in the GPU!
    Thanks again!

  • LR2 Export jpeg slideshow stops before all slides exported

I have tried twice to export a slideshow of 300 slides. The first attempt stopped after 29 slides, the second stopped after 61 slides. No error messages appeared.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 4 GB memory and 179 GB free on my HDD.
How can I get LR2 to complete the export? Is this a bug?

Thank you. I checked the bug fix list for that release but couldn't see this one.
I tried the standard previews, but today's attempt exported only the first 7 files, followed by a file called "USA2008_3-007.jpeg.swp", then stopped.
I've decided to give up on this as we had no success with what we wanted to do. The slides were intended for import into Premiere Elements to produce a slideshow for use on a PAL TV, so I exported the slides at 720 x 576 (which my research tells me is the correct resolution for PAL TV) but when the resulting slideshow was played on TV the captions at the bottom of the slides were cut off. So, I will simply export the pictures from the Library module and use those.
    Thanks for the responses anyway!

  • "Error: Out of memory"

Getting this error message when I try rendering or exporting a sequence (ProResHQ 720 25p). I have 3 sequences, each about an hour long. The only unrendered clips (and they are very few) are some minor cropping; some cross dissolve transitions and some keyframe motion on a still. The still is a jpeg in RGB color space (not YMK). All the footage is ProResHQ 720 25p (sourced from transcoded Red footage and Canon XHG1s).
250GB free on boot drive and 250GB free on render drives. I've trashed preferences and rebooted. I've tried halving the sequences; and pasting them into newly created sequences. I've scoured these boards and have had no luck.
    Any help DEEPLY appreciated

then you need to start breaking down your sequence and rendering clip by clip to find the corrupted file. Sometimes media just gets corrupted, fact of life.
select the first file, render, save, select the next file, render, save, repeat until you get one that gives you the error. Make that file offline, then recapture it. don't stop there, though, do your whole sequence, clip by clip. there could be more than one.

  • Aperture 3 - Export Slideshow Problems

I have exported a slideshow I created twice with the Aperture setting for 720p Apple TV - it exports and goes to iTunes - but when my Apple TV syncs it will not accept the movie - the error states that "X" movie has not sync'd because it cannot play on the Apple TV. Since I export it using the Apple TV setting I am confused.

I'm using the trial version of Aperture 3. I have exactly the same problem with exporting slide shows (even after the upgrade on my AppleTV and Aperture). Both using the Apple TV setting and custom settings to export a 1280 x 720 image with 24 fps. I had to give up on the concept of sharing my iPhoto library - but having wasted my last 24 hours trying to produce a high definition slide show (which I assume you have to use highest quality previews to do) - I am now feeling a bit cheated by Aperture 3.

  • Black frames after export in Premiere CC 2014

    Hi,
I am getting black frames in my exported video from Premiere CC 2014 and Media Encoder CC 2014. This is my first project in the CC 2014 suite, but in CC I never had this problem. When exporting directly from Premiere or queued from Media Encoder, black frames appear at random through out my video. I am using presets H264 HD 720 29.97 and Vimeo 720 29.97. My sequence is ProRes 422 1080 29.97. I am downscaling the final product for online.
I am making no changes to the process at all. Both formats of h264 give me black frames. Has anyone else had this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have also now exported to QuickTime ProRes 720 29.97 and H264 1080 20.97 and still get black frames in the final export. I am using Premiere v8.1 and Media Encoder 8.1.0.122.

  • Export choice for non-compressed clip backup

I'm ripping some of my movie DVDs with songs in them and editing out all the content other than the songs and creating a new "song-only DVD".
If I want to dispose of the original movie DV Streams (to save storage space) and just keep the song clips for a future "greatest hits" song DVD to re-edit in FCP, should I export the individual song clips in "Quicktime Movie" or DV Stream format? Test exports seem to show they are about the same size, would one be better than the other to keep the original quality?
    Thanks,
    Dave

That's what I originally assumed, but someone I know with a long history in FCP thought DV stream was the way to go. I agree with your take though, that the QT "Conversion" must be adding some additional compression.
The strange thing is that I do essential the same parameters for the export, the display size in QT Pro is 640 x 480 for DV stream and the display size for QuickTime Movie is 720 x 480 and is displayed slightly freakish wide (both say have the same FORMAT info though in the QT Movie Inspector). They both seem to Import back into FCP ok.
    Thanks again,
    Dave

  • FCP Project Settings Help - Mixing SD with HD

    Hi,
I am trying to decide what settings to choose for my project and hope the experienced amongst you can shed some wisdom for me.
I am doing a promo ad to be shown in church on a windows pc with windows media player through a SD projector onto a 4:3 sized screen.
    I will be filming a presenter with a Sony EX1 at 1920 x 1080 @ 25P. - square pixels
I have been given stock footage to include into the project that is 320 x 180, i have more footage to be delivered but I know it will be around the same SD res, maybe a bit larger.
The church auditorium has natural light and the projector is weak so video looks a little washed out at the best of times, so it is possible to get away with some pixelation as once its projected you really wont notice it.
My question is what do you recommend I set my project up as and what would be the best to export it.
I would like it to be widescreen (letterboxed) if possible.
    Thanks
    Dustin

Ok thanks, that is the only version they have.
It is a testimony about a women lost at sea in a canoe and the footage in question is a storm in the ocean, lighting, rain, waves etc...
The other footage is DV Pal of her speaking in a church so not too bad there.
I am actually trying to source some stock footage else where of a storm out to see at the moment as a last resort.
I will make the project native to the XDCAM footage and export to DVPAL AVI 720 x 560 anamorphic and see how it looks.
Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.
