CP1518ni on Win7 64 bit won't print unless "override out" is on

I get the "replace supplies" message and the printer won't print unless the "Override out" is turned on. I replaced the ink cartridges once, then got the "replace supplies" message within days.  I've installed HPPDU which refers to CP1510 series PCL6. the diagnostic screen says everything is fine. I also downloaded the update 20100616.  I noted that the "workaround"  ToolboxFX doesn't work with Win 7.
What am I missing?  Must I continue printing under "override out" until all four ink cartridges run out completely, then trust that the printer will operate without the override on the future cartridges? Thanks for your help on this.

1. Which supplies have you replaced?
CB540A black, then a week later added the three colors when the supplies low message came back on the printer.  (Primary use of the printer is black text; color used rarely.)
2. Does the product specify another supply low or out?
I haven't been able to access a screen which specifies contents of the four cartridges.  The orange light on the product flashes continuously, and won't print.  the message simply says "replace supplies".
3. How long has this been going on?
Problem started when the initial cartridges that came with the printer appeared to run out; about 2 months ago (worked fine for 12 months.  The second set of cartridges(full HP cartridges from Office Depot) worked for two weeks or so,since  then we've been using override.
4. How are you connected the the CP1518ni?
through direct wire plug into the power strip.
5. Where are you getting the message, Printer or Computer?
on the printer; we can't seem to access the screen that used to appear on the computer desktop that showed ink content.

  • Brother Printer won't print unless you restart Mac in Mavericks

I recently updated to Mavericks and got the new printer updates for my Epson 4880 and Brother MFC 7420. In Mavericks, it won't print unless you restart. This is very frustrating. System Preferences says that the printer isn't connected, when it is. If you restart, it'll print the stalled print job as its starting up. From that point on, it works. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as getting this to function normally? I've updated to the most recent drivers and reinstalled- Problem Persists.
    Thanks in advance,
    Al Harding

I'm also having communication issues between a MBP with Mavericks (though the problem has existed with older OS's) and the MFC-7420, also via USB. Restarting the computer does always seem to clear up any problems (whatever they are), until after a few print jobs or a scan job, things mysteriously seem to again go haywire. Sometimes restarting the printer is enough. Often not, though. Also, while there is updated firmware available for the printer, I am unable to install it using a Mac (Windows only).
Suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • LaserJet 1015 on Win 7 (32-bit) won't print double-sided

I was always able to print double sided on XP without any problem. But after I got a new PC with Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit (with driver from win 7 itself), it would no print double-sided anymore, even though I checked the option for it in the printer option dialog box. Even the on screen reminder to instruct you to take out the papers and re-enter them for printing the other side doesn’t appear anymore. The manual double sided printing' checkbox in the driver dialog is now totally useless.  Please help.

Have the same problem with a LaserJet 1150... did manual double-sided printing fine in Windows XP, but when the computer was upgraded to Win7 64-bit, it prints single-sided every time, even when you select the options for double-sided, and the Continue button does not appear. Has anyone found a fix for this?  I've tried all sorts of configurations in the driver properties/preferences.

  • HP 3050 won't print unless the usb cable is plugged in...

So I've installed the software/driver from the HP website, printed a wireless test page, but it will only print stuff unless  the usb cable is plugged in. What am I missing? I try and print say, a recipe; and nothing happens unless/until I plug in the usb cable to the printer, THEN it prints just fine. I've selected a "network" connection and it has the right IP since it will print a test page just fine... what's up? anyone know?
    regards, mitch

Ok, I should have checked printing using something OTHER THAN the site below and I would have realized the printer is functioning just fine everywhere but the site below that I was trying to print wirelessly:
    http://www.marthastewart.com/print/868426
Other recipes on other sites are printing just fine as is everything else! Just not o'l Martha... it will print the recipe from the site above however "if" the usb cable is plugged in.
    go figure.

  • Reader 9.4.0 on Win7 x64 won't print to network printer

I have Adobe Reader 9.4.0 installed on Windows 7 x64 and I am trying to print to a network printer attached to a Windows 2008 x64 server.  The printer is a Kyocera CS-4035 and has the most recenter driver available installed.
When I open a PDF and attempt to print, I get the "you need to install a printer" error.  This same error occurs when I change the default printer to any of the HP or Kyocera printers we have available.  We have one Konica Minolta printer that appears to work when it is the default.
As I said previously, I have already verified that we have the most current driver installed on the print server.  Any suggestions?

SOLVED:  Instead of using the most current driver for the specific printer, I switched to using the manufacturer's more current universal driver, and this solved the issue.

I updated my Acrobat Pro to 8.1.2. I also attempted to install the MS hotfix (it gave me the message that the fix did not apply to my system). I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Anyone have any ideas?

This was resolved by installing SP1 and uninstalling/reinstalling Acrobat Pro.

  • HP p1006 won't print after upgrade to Mavericks

After upgrading from 10.8 to 10.9 my computer won't print anymore.  It says "Pages not found!"
The printer is attached to a Mac server running 10.8 which is printing fine, but my computer (running 10.9) won't print unless I boot it from the 10.8 partition which still works.
What I've already tried:  (on my computer & server)
    Reset the printing system
    updated drivers to HPPrinterDriver2.16.1
    Repaired permissions

    Hi zmogy,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to print on the 10.9.
I will be happy to help you.
The HPPrinterDriver2.16.1 is the latest HP printing and scanning software for OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.
Plug the printer directly into the 10.9 computer and run the Apple Updates to install the Apple drivers.
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.
    Test the printing.
I can't guarantee it will print over the server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Laserjet P1006, Windows 7, won't print readable maps (poor greyscale - halftones)

    Laserjet P1006, Windows 7 64 bit,
won't print readable maps (poor greyscale - halftones)
The HP website shows a "density" slider control in the print driver, but the driver that they have for download doesn't have this control.  I did set the driver to RET1600 but that made little improvement.
Tips to correct this flaw greatly appreciated!

    2nd Request
I set this printer up with a Windows XP computer, and the printer works fine with the XP driver.  The problem is with the WIndows 7 driver - the print density is too low to print maps in a readable fashion.
Can anyone please help with printing greyscale (maps in this case) in the HP Laserjet P1006 with Windows 7 ???

  • LaserJet 1100 won't print in WordPerfect X4 unless manual button is pressed for each page.

Hi - I'm using a Toshiba Satellite - Windows Vista 64 bit operating system.  When using WordPerfect X4, I can't get my HP LaserJet 1100 to print unless I manually push the button for each page.  I have no problems getting it to print automatically in Word or with .pdf documents.  Something is not compatible with WordPerfect.  It was printing fine to begin with, but once I printed an older version of Avery labels, it seemed to trigger this need to have to manually press the big button.  Help!

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • Printer won't let laptop print unless desktop on

I have an HP Officejet 8600 Plus E- All-in-one printer set up in a small office (5 people). When employees are using their laptops and wish to send something to print; unless the desktop in the reception area is on, it seems that they are not able to print to the wireless printer. I tried to contact support but my printer is no longer able to receive HP Support help. Hopefully someone out there can tell me why this is an issue. We are all connected to the same WIFI source that the printer is connected to. Every laptop has either downloaded or installed the software and driver information. The desk top can even phisically be on, but sleeping and someone will have to either move the mouse or log back in to get back to the desk top in order to allow a laptop user to print. No error alerts pop up on the desk top when this happens either. Not sure if this is something as simple as unchecking a box thats in settings or if there is a bigger issue. ALL and any help would be appreciated. We have tried to disconnect and reconnect, forgetting the printer and then reinstalling... nothing seems to change.

Hello , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! I see you're having connectivity confusion. I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, do you have any issues when you try to make a copy? Good luck and please let me know what you find. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Mac mini won't connect to printer unless other mac on network turned on

mac mini won't connect to printer unless other mac on network turned on

Copy the IP address of the printer from the Mac that can connect to it by itself. The IP shows when you start any print job.
Disable Printer sharing on this Mac.
Go to the Mac that cannot connect by itself and set up the printer from scratch using the printer's IP. To do this:
System Preferences / Print & Scan, then click the + sign, nxt select Add Printer or Scanner and click on IP. Fill in the info.

  • I have an hp photosmart c7280 all-in-one series printer won't print. error message, system problem

I have an HP Photosmart All-in-One C7280 series printer/fax/copier/scanner. I have been having issues with printing for the past few weeks. It is a wireless printer, with a jack into the wall (for fax) and it is plugged into a power source. I never used to have issues with it before, but recently, it won't print when I send a document to it to print. It will print its configuration pages, reports, etc if I select them from the Printer's menu but not when I send a doc to it to print. First it was saying it was offline, but I figured out how to override that by operating as an administrator and selecting "Use Printer Online" from the dropdown menu when I right clicked on the printer from the control panel. But now it says "Error: Printer failed to print document. System error".
Noooo clue what to do now. This is the only color printer we have so we kind of need it to work. We bought this printer off the shelf at a office store (before I started working here) and so we don't have any designated technichians to work on it. I asked the guy who services our Image Runner Copier to look at it but he had no clue what was wrong with it. Hopefully someone can help?

  • Remote laptop won't print to new HP4622 wireless printer

My new HP 4622 won't print from wife's laptop (Compaq Presario CQ-60-224NR w/ Windows Vista) in another part of the house on my home Centurylink DSL network with very good connectivity.  I have the printer installed at my desktop (Gateway Microsoft XP SP3) and it prints fine from the desktop.  Does the printer software also need to be installed on the laptop?  I sent a .jpg file to the printer from the laptop and it printed one line of unicode? code per page until I cancelled the job from the print queue. I have gone thru the installation guide a couple of times and nothing is fixed.  Test results say that everything passed and install is successful.  I downloaded and tried the print doctor wizard and it says no problems found.  I have McAfee total protection running, could there be a firewall problem?  I'm not sure about enabling ports or that sort of thing.  I dumped a perfectly good Lexmark X7170 all-in-one because it wasn't wireless and we couldn't get it configured to print peer-to-peer.  Now I have a new wireless printer and con't get to print remotely either.  Hope you can help.  Let me know if you need more info.  Thanks.

    Hi Ken,
I would recommend giving the printer a static IP address for the wireless connection (not USB):
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you will have delete and re-add the printer on your computer. Do it this way:
    0. Go to Start > Control Panel > Devices & Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Get its IP from a Network Test printed from the front panel of the printer.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
If you're still experiencing issues try changing the channel on your router to 11 and the encyption to WPA.

  • LaserJet 2600n won't print Ms. Word doc, Publisher, nor excel. Sends paper thru, but no print on it.

My HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer won’t print a Microsoft Word document, nor a Microsoft Office Publisher, any longer. When I try printing a Word document in `either black or colors, the printer sends the paper through, but no print is on the paper. When I click “Properties” in the print dialog box, I get a pop-up window saying, “Word cannot bring up the properties dialog because the printer returned an error.”
I reinstalled the printer driver, and restarted my computer, but this did not help. None of the trouble shooting actions helped.
However, it does print from notepad. But when I tried to print a Ms Excel document, the error box said, “Current printer is unavailable. Select another printer.” And when try to print a pdf file, I get message, “Adobe Reader stopped working.”
    I use a 64-bit Toshiba Satellite P505 with Windows 7.
    Please advise.

I felt i had to come to help you if your problem was not solved.
I've a customer who just came up with this problem.  He is using Office 2003 on Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bits.  He is using also a Color LaserJet 2600n.  We just reinstalled his software on a new computer and we started experiencing "Current Printer Is Unavailable" in Excel.  When trying to access Page Setup, it was also giving us that same message, and
then we had a dialog listing every computer available.
We produced a PDF, tried to print from Acrobat Reader, it crashed too the same way you mentionned.
    Here's what happenned:
We first installed the driver available from HP web site
    We did some updates from Microsoft Web Site.  There was an optional hardware update for the LaserJet 2600n, so we installed it.  This update is completely {Language Filter Evasion}
Uninstall your printer driver (well, just remove it from your printer list)
Then reinstall it.  In our case, it was accessed thru IP.
When it was installing, it asked us to keep the same driver or REPLACE the driver...  pick-up REPLACE the driver!
And you are good to go...

  • CP1025nw won't print wirelessly; two copies of printer appear in the network!

My two Macs running Mountain Lion (10.8) won't print wirelessly to the HP CP1025nw. HP Setup Assistant can't find the printer after it's set up wirelessly. The computers see the printer wirelessly when I try to add it, but there are TWO copies of the printer, and they won't print. Sometimes they seem to think the printer is already in use, possibly because there are two copies.
The printer prints fine through USB, though.

Same issue here, the CP1025nw can't print multiple copies UNLESS the user is a local administrator; which in this domain environment is not allowed. So another solution must be found.
The common answer is to adjust the "mopier mode" however this driver does NOT allow for that to be changed. The universal drivers typically do have the mopier setting but I could not find any compatible colour universal 64bit drivers that would work with the CP1025nw.
Even tried finding something in group policy and/or printer permissions, still no luck.
    Please help!
    We're all in it together.
