CPU runs 100% when logging with DAQmx using card 6229

Hi!
When I start a logging using DAQmx Analog Input the computer CPU runs 100%. This causes the problem that the computer locks and the subsequent steps in the program are left without computer CPU recourse. After the logging is compleet, 1750 samples/10 channels at 250Hz, the program runs on, but the loggfile is at that point useles.
I have instaled LV 7.1.1 and am using DAQ 7.4.
Anyone that recognizes this problem?

Logging with whereabouts using open source and freeware
The purpose of logging is to find out what had happened when needed. When the
time comes to read log messages, you want to know both the log message and its
whereabouts (class name, method name, file name and line number). So you need
to hard code whereabouts.
But hard coded whereabouts are very difficult to maintain: when you modify your
source code, line number changes; when you copy and paste a line, its class name
and method name change. If whereabouts are wrong, you introduce bugs in your logging
logic and the log messages are useless at the best.
This article shows you an example of using freeware Redress tool to rectify whereabouts
programmatically in your Makefile or Ant build file. So your whereabouts are always
correct for both Java and JSP source file.
Redress tool is part of SuperLogging at http://www.ACElet.com. SuperLogging also
provides an open source wrapper Alog.java, which redirects log method calls to
your favorite logging package. Redress tool can rectify whereabouts information
on all Alog's method calls in your application. So, if you call Alog's log methods,
these calls will be rectified by Redress.
JDK 1.4 introduces a new utility package java.util.logging. The example in this
article is based on JDK logging. Log4J is a cousin of JDK logging. Log4J users
should have no difficulties to modify this example for Log4J. Both JDK logging
and Log4J are excellent logging software for single JVM.
Note: Redress tool rectifies method calls on Alog, not JDK logging. You need to
call Alog instead of JDK logging in your application.

Multi-task data logging with DAQmx

I was wonder is it possible to use 'DAQmx Configure Logging' VI and 'DAQmx Start New File' VI for multiple tasks? I'm doing synchronized high speed DAQ with NI PXI-6133 cards. Each card (there are 16) must have its own task. Although the DAQ is continuous, the user (software trigger) determines when data is saved to the disk and for how long.
In my scenario the test length could be up to an hour with various test events scatter throughout. The users want to display the data during the entire test length. However they only want to write the data to disk during an event. The event could last from 10 sec to 1 min. That is why the users want to control when data is written to the disk.
DAQmx Logging seems to work for a single task only, but I need to do multiple tasks.

I've attempted to implement your suggestion, but I still do not acquire data for all channels for all tasks. I've enclosed my VI.

Pci 6602: configuring a frequency-divider with daqmx using labview7.1

i´m using labview 7.1 and the pci6602 counter-board. i want to configure a counter as an frequency-divider with varaibale division-rate, witch is a easy thing to do with the classic "old" daq-driver.
it´s recommended to use the "new" daqmx-driver, and i want to do so, cause i´m using also other ni-devices and want to use the same driver for all of them, but i can´t find any possibility in the daqmx-vi´s to configure such a frequency-divider.
i also couldn´t find any example-code for this problem.
please help me!!

hi, thanks for the answer, but unfortunatly it´s not what i ment.
i need to configure a counter on the pci6602 wich divides down the frequency "f_in" of the square pulses connected to it´s "source" pin by "divisor" and puts out square pulses with frequency f_out=f_in/divisor at another pin. That process should take place only on the 6602-board without using the cpu.
i´ve found the solution already, how to configure a counter on the pci6602 with daqmx like described above. see attachment.

Formula node forbid to run VI when undefined variable is used

On all LabVIEW version, we can use Formula node to evaluate mathematical formulas.
We can define input and output variable freely and calculate using some variety of formula.
But when we use undefined variable as output, can execute VIs with no errors.
We think it is a problem because when programmer makes a typo, they cannot notice the mistake.
When undefined variable is used as output variable, LabVIEW should forbid to run VI.

I think you are going to get the same (or similar) answers than to my suggestion(s) to make VI outputs potentially "required" and the same for some functions (built-in VIs):

In general, I agree with you, there is a potential for problems. Not really for the reason you are mentioning, because a typo will break the VI (unless you have two output variables with very similar names - unlike in your example - such as y and y0). But it could make for some frustrating debugging session.

In most cases this has to due with a plug-in to one of your active programs that wasn't updated after 10.5.2 was released.

LV7.1 executeable built on Daqmx8 does not run on target PC with daqmx 7.2/7.4

I have recently upgraded my development PC to Labview 8, RT and FPGA. This comes with DAQmx 8.0.0f0.
I needed to make a new release of an application still running LV7.1 and either DAQmx 7.2 or 7.4. The new build works fine on my PC but running the executeable on the target machine there are many errors associated with DAQmx library files not being compatible. I have checked the file paths in the 7.1 and they all point to the standard labview 7.1\vi.lib\daqmx librarys, and I don't think the vi names have changed.
I don't think it is the application builder as it seems to be the same as always. (7.1)
The target PCs are in factories around Europe and are upgraded by modem link. I have always found it very difficult to upgrade DAQmx remotely and don't try it unless on site.
Quick solution is to build on a 7.1 workstation and run time then works, so the code is OK.
Are there any settings in the application builder or elsewhere that would help?
Has anybody else found problems upgrading to 8? Generally its good, especially with RT and FPGA toolkits.

As you are now using LabVIEW 8 any executable which includes NI-DAQmx 8 will require LV 8 runtime engine and DAQmx 8. What you can do is build an installer that goes with the executable witch contains the LabVIEW 8 runtime engine (default) and DAQmx 8 selected under additional installers. If you run this before your exe it will update the DAQmx drivers to version 8 and MAX to version 4. You will then be able to run your exe files.
I built an exe and an installer using LabVIEW 8 and ran it on a machine with LabVIEW 7.1. The installer updated every thing easily. The only problem is that as the installer contains DAQmx 8 it is about 460meg which might be a problem as you are doing this remotely the only thing I can suggest is using an FTP server or getting your customers to down load DAQmx 8 of our website

Running 2 stepper motors with LabVIEW using RMV ST400-NT controller and driver

Hello, I am new to programming as well as motors in general so please bare with me in my attempt to explain myself. I have a project involving laser therapy and I am attempting to control two stepper motors from Falhauber, Type AM2224-R3-AV-4.8. I will be using a RMV ST400-NT controller and driver. Original plan was to use 3 stepper motors for control in 3 axis but realized 2 axis is complicated enough. My power source is an Agilent E3630A. I am new to this whole thing and from what I have read form examples and other posts is that NI drivers seem to work best for these applications. I've written simple programs from examples, reading and watching videos. I want to know whether it's possible for these to work together using LabVIEW and also a nudge to help me get started would be much appreciated. Can someone please help guide me in the right direction, I feel a bit lost when it comes to all this. Thank you for your time and consideration. Also, I will be using Windows 8 laptop with Labview 8.5. I have attached pics of components I will be using.

I want to preface this response by saying that I am mre familiar with NI controller and driver rather than the one that you have. I am assuming that you are using the dll provided by the manufacturer here:

With these, you should be able to interface with LabVIEW using the call library function node. What the controller is capable I am uncertain of. I am certain that you should be able to since another user has commented on the use in LabVIEW before in another forum post.
I also want to let you know that LabVIEW 8.5 is not supported on Windows 8, which means that you may run into some compatibility issues. Here is the compatibility chart.

'Change your password' error when log to designer using SAP Authentication

Hi All,
Here is the scenario. I want to create a universe on BW.
1. I try to log into designer using SAP authentication (by choosing SAP as the authentication option)
2. In the system name its the name of the CMS
3. The username and password that I entered were for my SAP system. (Yes, my SAP role is already present in CMC)
4. After I entered, I got a message saying ' You must change your password to continue. If you do not change your password, your account might get disabled'.
5. I am prompted with dialogue box to change my password.
6. After I enter a new password (fairly complicated), it gives an error Failed to change password/ Details : [repo_proxy 15]. Sessionfacade:: changePassword - User password has not been updated (Incorrect password).
I know that's not the case because I am able to log into SAP GUI and into CMC using my SAP credentials.
Any advice please ? Why is this happening in designer ?

CPU hits 100% when I quit iTunes

Whenever I quit iTunes, the it pegs the CPU at 100% for 20 - 30 seconds. I've seen lots of people with CPU-hogging problems during podcast updates and ripping... anybody find an answer for this one?

Have 4S and when syncing with iTunes using WiFi I get waiting for change to be applied. But this seems to never end. I have waited for an hour and still getting message.

Have been attempting to sync my iPhone 4S with iTunes using WiFi. It appears to complete the 5 or 6 syncs, but then waiting for change to be applied comes up and it never completes the sync. Waiting for changes to be applied continues for every.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
(I use iTunes 11.1.5.5)

Satellite A60 - BSOD when surfing with wireless PCMCIA card

Hello i used to browse internet with a wireless cardbus WL-54-CB (ADVANCE) on my Satellite A60-120 running windows xp sp2.
I was working well until i decided to clean my computer which was slowed down by viruses.I use Ad-aware and Kaspersky and updated patches on wndowsupdate.Now the PC is clean but i have problems with the PCMICA card, when i launch IE i surf for one minute and windows crashe BSOD !
It displays :
STOP 0x00000001 (0xFE570000,0x00000002,0x00000001,0x819587DE)
Any ideas to fix it ?

Cmon Guys... Stop that Toshiba Recovery Disk madness... Its no use... The Recovery Disk is as old as your laptop.. maybe older... The whole bunch of drivers in there are old... Its no use... Look.. For example if you have an Nvidia graphic Chip, you have to install the newest Nvidia driver... Prefer using the Nvidia driver, never the driver from Toshiba... And besides... It is always better to install the system manually...
Back to the question... Since you had a virus I would recommend to reinstall your OS, even you think its clean... To solve your problem...
deinstall the wireless card driver
deinstall the PCMCIA driver and install the newest driver. Write down the Model and some other infos before deinstalling it :) ...
reinstall the wlan crad driver...
test it :)
I always recommend to make a system backup every month... So if things go wrong... Just restore the backup... and everything is fine again... :)

Who do i speak to about an issue with shockwave. it is running my cpu at 100%. when i play Zynga games on FB. don't remember giving permission for storage or cloud.

a couple of weeks ago i noticed a real slowdown when playing Zynga games on FB. opened task manager (XP) and saw plugin-container.exe running at 400,000+ k. ran search thru windows and found plugin-container for mozzila. checked and updated all plugins but issue persists. disabled each plugin seperately while playing, with task manager open and disabling shockwave was the only one that had effect on plugin running. unfortunately this also crashed the game. know its not your plugin but any advice or directions would be appreciated. ( my husband's solution is the simplest of course but i really enjoy my games!) Thanks for your time.
