Crawled Property - Related fields for Lookup Fields
I have two lists -
List1
AuthorName
AuthorCountry
List2
Book
AuthorName (lookup from List1)
AuthorCountry (additional field from List1 based on lookup field AuthorName)
I can see ows_AuthorName as a crawled property. But if I want to get the associated AuthorCountry is there a way to get it? Even though I have a column for related AuthorCountry field there is no crawled property for it.

If you create a Site Column and add it to the list instead of a regular list column, it automatically creates a corresponding crawled property & managed property. this would be the easiest

Selecting a document field for a field in a condition table/access

I created a pricing condition table using field WGHIE from the standard field catalog.
Img/SD/Basic Functions/Pricing/Pricing Control/Define Access Seq
I can assign the table to a access, but when I try to do the field assigment it give's me the message "<i>Select a document field for WGHIE</i>" at the field assignment part.
In the fields display the WGHIE field has nothing listed in the Doc Field and it's grayed out so you cant change it. Also in the I/0 field its red lighted
Any ideals as to how I can fix this.

Create organis'l level field for auth. field that occurs in multiple object
Hello,
When trying out PFCG_ORGFIELD_CREATE I ran into a problem:
I want to have an organisational level field for BEGRU in C_STUE_BER (Auth.grp in BOM-header);
there are other auth.objects that also have a field called BEGRU (eg M_MATE_MAR, M_MATE_MAT, F_BKKA_BPG);
we have roles that have several of these objects.
Running PFCG_ORGFIELD_CREATE leads to problems in those roles that have several of the objects with a field BEGRU. In general the values to be assigned to BEGRU in different objects is not the same.
The only solution i can think of is to have per role only one object with field BEGRU.
This would mean a serious redesign of our roles :-(.
Is there another option?

John HermansAnother option is to create transactions for the BEGRU and maintain SU24 for them.
But that is not scalable for large BEGRU values and has an implication for menus and number of transactions, in addition to the number of roles...
But BEGRU fields should be used with caution, as the objects which use them are mostly not intended to be scalable (like P_PERNR is scalable....) so Su24 or well documentented "Maintained" authorizations might be an option to switch to.

Highlight Text for Lookup Fields
I hope this question isn't too silly.
I have a large database that I have used the wizard to create a look-up table for one of the repetitive fields. The text names are now all numbers in the primary table and at run time are displayed as text via the look-up table. Everything works very well the only thing I would like to do is to have the 'Highlight Words' work when I do a search. Usually something like '&P42_REPORT_SEARCH.' works. The problem is that the database table does hold those values any more. Does anyone have any ideas?

Influencing fields for Description field on order header
I had made a settings under IMG section -
PM/CS-> Maintenance and Service Processing>Maintenance and Service Orders
->Define Field Selection for Order Header Data (PM)>Define Field Selection for Order Header Data (PM)---> Modifiable field "Description" i have maintained as REQ and under influencing fields have mentioned few orders type and maintained REQ and one entry automatically is maintained as Input. Other influencing fields are Input mode
Now wen I create any order type the field is mandatory irrespective of order type.I want to limit it to only few order types..Please let me know how to do this...

It's a bit of a weird one. In an XSLT List View web part when Inline editing is enabled if I change the date column, it changes the lookup field column as well. This behavior only occurs if the lookup list has more than 20 entries. Below 20 and we are
OK.
Let me explain by example:
MileStones List - Having more than 20 items
Tasks List - having a lookup to the Title field from MileStones list. Also having a due date field.
Simple web part page with one XSLT List View web part for Tasks having inline editing enabled.
When I edit the first record's due date and press enter (which saves the changes and moves onto next record) and change the due date on second record without even touching the MileStone field. Press enter to commit changes and you see the milestone changing
on first record!
The wierd thing is that if the MileStone list has less than 20 items all works as expected.
Any pointers will be appreciated

This is a known limitation when working with complex fields like Lookup field.
A workaround is that we can avoid using the inline edit feature when there are
complex fields in a list.

Associating Image variants with image lookup fields
In the console reference guide you can find the following explanation on the use of Image variants:
"A variant defines the structure of the image but does not specify if the variant is actually required for a particular image.
Instead, each image lookup field in the repository has a Variants property that allows you to associate one or more variants with the image lookup field, and in so doing, identify which variants should be generated when an image is associated with that particular field.
For each variant, all the images associated with that variant will be generated according to the specifications of the variant and the crop/rotate settings stored for that image. MDM tracks the changes to the variant definitions, the variant associations, each image, and the crop/rotate settings for each image, and thus know when the variants need to be regenerated."
My question is the following:
Assuming that the definitions of the Image variants are made via the console and thus present in the Image variants table,...
Is it possible to change the Variant property of the image lookup field(s) in the main table through the Java API?
So that you could write a function that automatically associates specified Image variants with all the image lookup fields in the main table of a certain repository.

Programmatically lookup fields cross site collections
Hi everyone,
With SharePoint 2010, we can programmatically create a custom field for lookup site column cross site collections. However, it seems not to be possible in SharePoint 2013. Has anyone got hands dirty on this case?

@Amr Fouad: The managed metadata field is itself a form of lookup column so doesn't allow it's values to be used in a lookup.
We have tried with custom field but seems it doesn't work in SharePoint 2013. With SharePoint 2010, there is no problem. I'm wondering whether lookup fields cross site collection is a nightmare or not.

Let me tell you the background of what I did ...
I have one wage type 4113 which was linked to vendor account. I changed the link from vendor to balance sheet account and specified new GL 23206 for my symbolic account of wage type 4113.
When I post the payroll result to FI after this change. I got this error.

U create ur own serach help using the searchelp option is se11 and create it based on ur requirement zand make it as elementary not as collective.
go to SE 11 and click on KUNNR and click on scrh Help puchbutton and assign ur search help and it will be assigned to the same.
If u want use already one then DEBI, C_KUNNR A_KUNNR
QVDM_KUN REKUNNRCN RE_KUNNR are there
these are collective serach helps and assign ur help to any of these.

for currency/quantity fields u need to give referance field.
for that go to some standard table and click on currency/quantity field , u get the refarence field and refarence table to those fields, u assign corresponding fields to u'r fields in u'r table.
ex: GEWEI ref-fild for weight filed and MARA ref table.

Task Outcome Field - Crawled Property not created
Hi,
SharePoint is not creating crawled property for the OOB Task Outcome
field... Is this by design or is it possible to include this field in search..

Per my knowledge, there is not an OOB way to create a crawled property for Task Outcome field.
As a workaround, you can try to create a new column in the tasks list, then create an Event Recevier on the tasks list to handle the item is added or updated. In the Event Recevier, sest the new column to the Task Outcome. After that, do a full crawl to
find the crawled property for the new column, and use the new column instead of Task Outcome.

I want to create a custom enterprise project field and would like to use instead of for example a text attribute or a look-up table a field for employees (e.g. project manager) which are coming e.g. from the Active Directory. But when creating this custom
project field I cannot see such an option. What solution do you suggest as I want to avoid that everybody uses different names and spellings for e.g. the project manager and without having to fill the lookup table with all resources of the company.

How does one create LOV Map between 2 fields for custom lookup mapping

In Internet Expenses, Expense Report Line Detail we have two unrelated fields; namely Expense Location & Tax Code.
The requirement is to map a default tax code to locations; basically when a user enters Expense Location then the mapped tax code value should default into field Tax Code.
The location-tax code mapping is stored in a custom lookup (FND_LOOKUP_VALUES).
My question is how does one go about implementing this? For example is it possbile to create a new (hidden) LOV based on the lookup mapping & then create a Personalization LOV Mapping between the 3 LOV... Or is it necessary to modify the Tax Code drop down Message Choice in JDeveloper? Of course details are appreciated!

The correct & supported method is this:
Extend the location LOV in JDeveloper & add a "default tax" attribute, this could be derived from a new location DFF storing the default tax code for each location. Now simply create a location Personalization LOV Map which takes this new location lov tax attribute & target it to the tax message choice field.
That's my 2c worth anyway, so please give comment if you feel there is a better way.
There is just one more little problem however... The requirement has changed! Now we require the tax code to default according to not one location field, but other fields too. For example if the user selects Expense Type of Beverage & Location of Netherlands then Tax Code should be NL19%, for Expense Type of Hotel then it should be NL6%; if the user ticks "Missing Receipt" field then it should over ride all others & set the code to NL0%.
Any ideas?
