Creating a banner

Okay I have created a banner that is 1024px X 115px. The banner has a logo on the left side. What I want to know is the best way to make the banner centered at the top of the page and the background of the banner (everything except the logo) stretch out when people are viewing on a bigger screen that 1024x 768.
I understand you can use "repeat-x;" or "width: 100%" however I dont want the logo to repeat with the banner.
I thought I could save the banner just without the logo then make that the background and somehow save the logo by itsself and then put it over the background but I couldnt get that to work either.
PLEASE HELP!

I have used keynote to create a banner with transitions.
It plays OK on the web but doesn't play on the iphone or Ipad, unless i hit the control panel.

Do NOT use Fireworks for print work. Use Illustrator, InkScape, InDesign, Scribus, Xara Designer Pro, Photoshop, etc, anything BUT Fireworks. Fireworks is meant for web graphics.
However, if you are still convinced it is a good idea to do this in Fw, there is a way to increase the max canvas size:

Creating a banner in Flash

Hello all,
I am thinking of creating a banner in flash..
What are some of the advantages or options I would have versuses just creating a banner in fireworks..
-One I know I could fade in and out for effects..
-Two I can create movement..
-Is there anything else??
I am creating this for a website and I am using Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver..
I am thinking I can just plug into the Fireworks file before I splice it..
-Does this sound right?
I guess I could also just do this in Fireworks yet it probably will not look as cool.

If you want alot of animation or dyanmic effects use flash. If it's basically just static with some links use something else. Of course you can mix and match. The best approach is to just jump in and try something.

I created a banner in Photoshop for a BANS software (how wide?)

My banner was originally 780 pixels wide for the top of this URL: http://www.cheapcameras.ws but how wide should the banner actually be to fit at top of this page? Is anyone familiar with BANS btw? Or, where in the source view for this site would I navigate to verify the pixel width of that spot it should go into?

Because you are using a template system, you would have to load the banner up to the server in the appropriate folder and direct the HTML to that file, this is no something that you do with Photoshop. You can create the banner in Photoshop, but you have to do the rest of it online after loading the image.
When you direct the template to use the banner created in Photoshop, it should automatically load in the dimensions. You should be using the help system for the template software on how to do this.

How to create a banner on every page

Hi,
I am creating my first website using iWeb. I have a banner that I want to display on every page of the site.
At the moment this banner is created from 1 text box and 3 images. I am currently copying and pasting this banner onto every page. This does not seem to be efficient.
I would like some advice as to how to do this efficiently, I would imagine there is some way of creating what I would call a 'header'?

Hi mrtcornel, i used your suggestion on creating content on every page using iFrame and a footer page. I am trying to have a song clip play throughout my site. anyhow, got the footer page to work and it plays when publishing, but don't think i understand how to get it to play on other pages. i copied the iFrame html snippet and placed it on another page, but nothing happens when i publish. is that what i was supposed to do?

Creating a banner for "Featured Podcast"

Hi everyone,
My podcast "This Week in League" just got one of the featured slots on the Australian/NZ iTunes store (massive thrill!). For example, when you open the iTunes Store and click "Podcasts", it's one of those big banners that cycle through on the Podcast Homepage.
My question is this: should I have been contacted about creating and supplying a banner? The other 3 or 4 shows that are in the featured rotation all have banners that appear to have been optimised for the size of that main panel, but ours looks as if an Apple staff member has gone to our website and grabbed the header logo off there and put it in there.
I'd love to supply a proper banner optimised for the space that looks a lot better if I could, but I'm not sure of the channels I'd go through to do so. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Congratulations on being featured: it's an achievement, given the competition, and few people manage it. I'm afraid I don't know anything about how it works; you would have to contact iTunes Support. They are notoriously unhelpful, so I don't know whether you will actually get anywhere. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

I created a banner for my site. On that banner I want to create a text animation preferibly in flash

cs4. I need the text to appear throught the left side an on to the middle of the banner and dissapear. I also need animated text to come in through the right side and do the same.
Can anybody give me somne ideas or links to videos where I can ssee how is done?

click on the text symbol and create static text that you want to animate. when finished, right click the text and click convert to symbol/movieclip. then use the timeline to motion tween and alpha tween your movieclip.

Creating animated Banner to import into Dreamweaver. Help!

I am attempting to create a page banner that consists of 4 images which I would like to change every 250ms. I would also like to have 4 small slaces that when hovered the relevant image loads.
I have set this up with behaviours on 4 states (image on each state) so that when the mouse is rolled over the relevent slice the image changes to a different state.
I have also set the timer on each state to change every 250ms.
The trouble is when I export this as HTML in copy into Dreamwever it only imports the first state image with no functions. If I try to import this as flash the images simply flick through quickly in a loop with no function.
Can anyone help please!

This file opens correctly in SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer 7.0, but not in Acrobat XI Pro. A similiar file destilled from a sample file found on the web, however, works:

The only difference I can see is that is uses compression and a CLOD Progressive Mesh Continuation instead of a CLOD Base Mesh Continuation. But according to the latest version of "U3D Supported Elements", this should not make any difference.
Any idea why Merge1.u3d does not open? Please?!

Created moving banner but it comes with skins

Hi,
There doesn't seem to be an option (DW8) when importing a flash video without it coming with some sort of skin.
I created a movie (banner across the top of my site - 460 x 120) with Movie Edit Pro and converted it in flash to an .fla file. This part allowed me to choose skins = "none" but when I imported the fla movie into DW it only gave me choices of different skins without a "none" option.
I don't want a play button for my scrolling movie banner obviously. How can I remove the skin? Keep in mind - I'm much more gui than coder, but I can figure out a few things.

First of all, to clarify the file extensions.
FLA - that's the Flash source file, and is created and edited in Flash
FLV - that's the Flash video file, I think that's what you meant to say in your original post.
SWF - the published file from Flash, and many other programs have the ability to export content to this format.
You're getting into an area where you need to Flash to create the FLA, publish to SWF - then you have complete control of attached FLVs, skins, buttons and anything else you neeed.

Creating a banner that "unrolls" from a wall in a video

I have a few video clips that were taken handheld...so there is some intentional camera shake. I need to create a rolled up banner that is on the wall of the video that unrolls - revealing what is on the "banner". I have extremely little experiance with AF. Is this possible to do? If so...how would I attempt this?

Depends on the shot and what you mean by extremely limited. Is it a closeup? Is it far away? You may be able to get away with trickery on a long shot that won't play close up. Unfurling a banner will need an external 3d program like Maya that can simulate cloth dynamics, or you will need to shoot it for real. Either way, you need to use AE to composite it. But, again, depending on the shot, you may be able to get away with a 2D track or you may need to do a 3D camera solve in an external program to place the shot in frame.
The major problem with what you're asking is you didn't shoot your footage with a plan of how to put it together. Because this is probably a 2D and 3D solution, you may want to consider supporting a local VFX artist or reshooting it with a plan. There are ways you could do this without 3D and even without AE.

How to create rotating banner ad?

I am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to flash. I've bought Flash Professional CS5, and I am looking for a tutorial/help to create a rotating banner ad similar to the one on www.play.com.
Example: I've got four different pictures I want to rotate within let's say 3-4 seconds per picture. Each of the picture needs its own link, so people can click to get to the correct place. I want the pictures to "fade out to the left" when changing) How do I do this? Is there a simple tutorial? I've heard "flash is so easy", but I am having a hard time to grasp around it.

Avoid using folders in Edge Animate when creating a banner

I have a problem. I have made a banner in Edge Animate that I wan't to send to a newspaper for them to put on their site with them as the host. (Don't think my little private site would be prepared for that kind of traffic if they took it in via iFrame or some other solution with me as the host)

They tell me that they can't really use this, which doesn't come as a surprize. But I have no idea how to get the banner to them in a manner they can use, and this is the reason for me writing here looking for help.
The said that I could try putting all the files in the same folder and sending it again, but that, I have no idea how to do. If I drag out the images from the 'images' folder and in the the main folder it's not visible to me in edge, like when dragging a file in to the 'images' folder and it pops up immediately under 'Assets -> Images' in Edge.
Can anyone help me out with getting this banner online on their site.

A basic question about font use when creating a banner ad in PS

I am creating my first ever web ad in PS (Mac, CS4). When finished, I'll Save for Web as a JPEG. The design is basically just some text superimposed over a photo. Am I free to use whatever font I choose? Or do I have to use one of the "web safe" fonts that (almost) everyone has installed?

the way u are creating it everything is rasterized... ie even the "text" is an image... so yes u can use what ever font u like...
