Creating an account to access multiple instances

Hi,
How do I create a SQL Server login that is allowed to access multiple instances? Can this be done using Windows authentication only or both Windows and SQL Server login? Examples or references would be appreciated.
Thanks

A Login cannot have access to multiple instances, Windows OR SQL
You need to create same login on each SQL Server Instance for which access is required.
If possible, go with Windows Login as you do not need to manage password/policy separately.
for example, to grant DOMAIN\VGajjar access to SQL01
and SQL02:
1. Create Login on SQL01 for DOMAIN\VGajjar
2. Create Login on SQL02 for DOMAIN\VGajjar

  • Accessing multiple instance of the same JFrame.

Hi, I'm hoping someone out there can help. I'm a student desperatly trying to finish my discertation in time, I'm making an RMI chat application, everything works fine except for one thing.
If a client sends a message to another client and they have one or more conversation windows open at that time, the correct conversation window is not selected to display the message.
e.g 'Team one' sends a message to 'Team Two', who has windows open for both 'Team One' and 'Team Three'.
The conversation window is a seperate class and everytime a client creates a new conversation, a new instance of this is created.
To group all the client windows together I've created an array of client windows and every new instance is added to this array.
    public static ClientWin[] group = new ClientWin[10];
    public void NewWindow(Server serv, String WhoTo, String Name){
        group[count] = new ClientWin(serv, WhoTo, Name);
        count++;
} This works fine, new conversation windows are created fine but when I try to access something within the array e.g
group[count].transcript.append(msg); the correct transcript in the corresponding JFrame in the ClientWin array is never selected and infact, every instance within the array appears to correspond with the last JFrame instance when I've looped through the array checking values.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, this is killing my head. Thank you.
    Matt

Thanks, I thought that was what I was doing, thats what I intended anyway.
The ClientWin class is my own class which extends JFrame.
The ClientWin[] group = new ClientWin[10]; is the arraylist you refer to, at least I wanted it to be.
And I check group.whoTo currently to see you the window is for and the group array is the arraylist you reffer to.
However with doing this (prob just a stupid mistake) I can't send a message to the corresponding window in the array and in fact every item in the array is the same as the last window created.
    Thanks

  • Help required of creating Oracle RAC database having multiple instances

    Hello Guys!
I want to create one database having 2 instances on Oracle 11g R1
I have 2 nodes in this Oracle RAC
    Database name will be Val
and instance name on node 1 will be val1 and instance name on node 2 will be val2
Raw storage will be used, that is, without using automatic storage management or an Oracle Cluster File System
Can anyone help how to do that ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Wonderful example thanks for the link. You're welcome :)
I'm little confused which option to choose in shared storage option of DBCA
i.e. Cluster File System or Raw devices?I suggest you to use ASM for you database storage requirement and select raw devices. oracle recommends to use ASM storage for sahred database.

  • How to access multiple instance on internet explorer

    Dear
    WE are on r12,
We have to configure production instance base on test, therefore we need to run two instance but explore not allow to run same time,
    how can we run this.
    psl advice.
    thanks.

    Hi,
Let's assume that you are using IE8 or later.
You should go to the File menu (Alt+F, if the menu is hidden) and then select "New Session".
This will allow you to start any number of different EBS sessions you want even for the same instance.

  • Multiple instances spawned after daylight savings time change

This is a known issue and there is an SAP Knowledge Base Article created on this issue:
1448881 - Multiple instances spawned after daylight savings time change
Below is the information from the SAP Knowledge Base Article:
    Symptom
Scheduled reports that are supposed to run once a day, run multiple times.
    Duplicate instances are being created.
    Environment
    BusinessObjects Enterprise XIR2 SP5
    BusinessObjects Enterprise XIR2 SP5 + FP5.x
    Reproducing the Issue
A report is scheduled to be run on a daily basis - this is a Recurring schedule.
Normally the report runs once a day, at a particular time.
After Daylight Savings Time change, the report runs at the specified time, but immediately after the successful instance, another instance is spawned.
Many more instances spawn after each instance completes.
    Cause
This is a known issue: ADAPT01318487. This issue is because of DST and how our code handles this change.
    Resolution
There is currently no known fix for this issue. There is however a script that can quickly resolve the problem.
The issue it seems is related to Daily recurring schedules.
    What this script will do:
it will run a query to display all your DAILY Recurring jobs
you will have the option to choose your jobs and reschedule them by 1 hour
you will then highlight the same job and change them back by 1 hour
by modifying the schedule times, you are modifying the schedule itself and this will keep the issue of duplicate instances from occurring.
    Exact Steps to Complete:
    Stop the Job Servers.
Double click on the .hta file.
Change the System Name to that of your CMS name.
    Add the Administrator's password.
    Click Logon.
    Click List All Recurring Instances.
    Select All.
Make note of what it says in: Schedule Selected Recurring Instances: Should be 1 hr earlier.
    Click Reschedule Selected Recurring Instances.
Choose All instances again and change Schedule Selected Recurring Instances to 1 hour Later.
    Click Reschedule Selected Recurring Instances.
    Now start your Job Servers.
The issue should not occur again.
The Script is attached here, but please review the SAP Knowledge Base article 1448881 as well

    Hi Nicola,
    - The multiple spawned instances issue ONLY affects XI3 SP3+ only.  For XI3 SP1 and SP2 all Fix Pack levels this is not an issue as it was introduced as a problem in SP3.
    - 1568239 notes the Java version and can apply to all O/S environments and is updated to reflect that.
If you are located in Europe you can also apply the patches in advance of the DST change to avoid the problem.  If you are in Americas at this point utilizing the clean up scripts for this year is the approach needed to clean up the spawned instances and reschedule the existing schedules.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Adding Picasa account: Android error - There was an error creating your account. Please try again.

I successfully synced with gmail (contacts, mail, etc.), youtube, as well as some other services. I am unable to create the account that accesses Picasa. Each time I try, I enter the email and userid for my account, and I get the same error message "There was an error creating your account. Please try again". I verified that the username and password are correct by signing into Picasa Web directly. A number of other people are experiencing this problem, as can be seen here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Picasa/thread?fid=446b5bd3493325ff0004ad7d643c968c&hl=en
Does anyone know what to do to make this linkage work? I want to be able to use the integrated gallery to access my Picasa pictures.

  • Multiple instances of firefox running cannot kill in task manager "Access denied"

There's no issue with starting a new instance after closing one, the "firefox is already running" error is not occurring (ok maybe once or twice a month, but it's not related to this problem, as my problem happens all the time.)
Apparently when closing a ff window it never fully stops. My computer slows down because of it and these multiple instances of firefox show up in Task Manager. When I try to kill the extra processes it just goes "BANG" and the "access denied" error dialog box appears. They are all running under my user account, and in CPU some are just 10 or 25 and some are in the hundreds and some are over a million. what the heck is going on?
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and ff 23.0 but this has been happening since about ff 15 (?)

When closing Firefox completely, it is important to close it using the <i>Exit</i> button, located inside of the Firefox/File menu.
Another cause to this problem could be a Firefox preloader. Do you have any programs that will load Firefox automatically? They are supposed to improve start time.
You can also '''try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
I hope that one of my solutions helps to fix your problem. Please report back with updates soon.
<b>NOTE: </b>You are using an outdated version of Firefox. This can cause security and functionality issue. Please update to the most recent version as soon as possible.

  • Can I create multiple instances of  realplayer plug-in in one jsp page?

I want to play meny video files in one jsp web page, these video files are to be played with the embeded plug-in of realplayer, each plug-in was linked(use its SRC property) a different video file. But, to my surprise, when I press the play button, every player played the same video file, not its specified file.
I have no idea why it did so and what can I do?
Whether can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page, that is to say, each instance is independent of others?
    thanks in advance!

Generally speaking, Internet Explorer tries not to launch multiple versions of a plug-in. So what's happening is that you load the first video clip, and then before it has a chance to play, you load the second video clip into the same window. (It's like changing songs in WMA.)
In some cases - this may not work for Real Player, but it's worth trying - if you spawn a new window through a hypertext link and then launch the plug-in in that window, IE will treat it separately. Otherwise, you could not, for example, run two Macromedia Flash applications from different web sites at the same time.
Keep in mind that only one program can access the soundcard at a time, so Real Player may purposely "pause" or "cancel" other video streams until the active one finishes. If you were using the desktop version, selecting another video by any means aborts the currently running video (i.e., RP won't let you create a separate instance of it).
The easiest solution is to create a wrapper JSP file that takes the name of the video clip, and plays it. Call that JSP and specify that it should be opened in a new window via the TARGET keyword in the anchor tag. Then hopefully RP itself won't block a second window from running.

  • Creating a system in portal with multiple instances of backend sys

    Hi all,
I am creating a system in the portal to my backend system(ECC6.0 with integrated ITS).I had a multiple instance backend system. The 2 instances are on two different boxes .The 2 instances have different ip addresses and hostnames. At a time only one instance will be active. We have a virtual ip and hostname for the Central instance.
In this case how to create the system so that the portal can switch from one instance to other while it is changed at the backend.
The major issue is how to fill the ITS properties while creating the system.Which hostname I have to give.
    First instance hostname : eccprd1.XXXXXX.com
    Second instance hostname :eccprd2.XXXXXX.com
Vitual hostname of central instance : eccsap.XXXXX.com
    Any suggestions please.
    Thanx and Regards,

    Hi,
You can use the Dynamic Link Library SAPSSOEXT
    Check out this link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/12/9f244183bb8639e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
This should be applicable to any intended scenario.
    Summary of Steps
    1. Download file
    2. create application as shown in sample file.
    3. Import verify.der and install it in your local server , in the place specified in your application(.NET)
    4. Run the planned scenario. The page(.NET Page) that will be initially accessed from SAP Portal should run your program or have that code , so that it can authenticate it without requesting userid and password.

  • Create multiple instance in a database

is it possible to create multiple instance in a database.if possible then is it possible to activate many instance at a time.(in personal edition)

Instance in Oracle refers to the Oracle database "engine" - a collection of processes using a shared memory area, accessing a physical Oracle database.
Multiple instances are possible on the same platform for different physical databases. But not a Good Idea..
Multiple instances on different platforms are for the same physical database using Oracle Real Application Clusters, aka Oracle RAC.
Thus your question does not make a lot of sense. My guess is that you are in fact refering to an Oracle session instead as this is "in the database" as you refered to.
Each client that connect to Oracle, creates/establishes an Oracle session. A single client uses one (usually the default) or more sessions (usually used by a multi-threading client).
By default, the Oracle Instance supports multiple Oracle (client) sessions. Including Personal Oracle. In the past, Personal Oracle limited (via the Listener) the number of remote clients (i.e. clients on other platforms) that can connect. I would assume that this is still the case. I however do not recall that there were a limit imposed on the number of local sessions that could be created - the limiting factor here is afterall the power and resources available by the PC. It's very unlikely that a common PC will be able to support a Personal Edition Oracle instance and 100's of local client sessions at the same time.
If you do mean instance as per the strict Oracle definition - why would you want to create two Oracle instances (each with its own physical database) on a PC? That does not make sense on a large db server platform. It makes even less sense on a small PC platform.
Each Oracle instance has overheads (processing and memory). Each physical Oracle database has overheads (system space, temp space, redo, logs, etc). Why duplicate these overheads?
On a single platform - what can two Oracle instances (less capable because of reduced resources availability) do what a single Oracle instance cannot do faster and better and more effectively? Thus is it not a Good Idea to run multiple instances on a single platform. (exceptions acknowledged)

If I have 3 family members sharing the same account, can we create sub accounts to seperate their log in and they have access to music already purchased?

There is no such thing as "sub-accounts".
Multiple Apple ID's can be used on a single device.
Created unique Apple ID's for each user and use those Apple ID's on the appropriate devices from iCloud and iMessage.  This will not affect the media on the device.

  • HT204053 How do I access multiple iCloud accounts

How do I access multiple iCloud accounts with a single IPAD?

You can set up an additional "secondary" iCloud account by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar>Add Account>iCloud and entering the ID and password.  There are some restrictions on secondary accounts.
Only the primary account can be used for Photo Stream, Bookmarks, Documents, iCloud Backup and Find My iDevice.  Also, Push Mail only works for the Primary Account; Secondary Account Mail is Fetch.

  • How to create multiple instances within same AS

    Ramesh,
I have a unique problem. I might have to create B2B instances for 4 owners. As in BPEL, I can have separate domains for the 4 clients in the same instance; what is the equivalent in B2B?
I have a limited number of CPUs and need to install the instances on the same box and hence trying to be creative yet secure here.
Could you please provide some pointers.
    Thanks
    Shamik

    Hello Shamik,
Please elaborate your use case. Is this just caters to user management or to really have different domain like bpel for four different users. Please see, b2b do not have the notion of BPEL domain, you might have to install multiple instances of B2B pointing to the same MR.
