Creating Enterprise project type in CSOM

I want to create a new EPT (project server 2013) using C# CSOM library.
Here is what I have done so far:
List<ProjectDetailPageCreationInformation> pages = new List<ProjectDetailPageCreationInformation>();
projContext.Load(projContext.ProjectDetailPages);
projContext.ExecuteQuery();
projContext.Load(projContext.EnterpriseProjectTypes);
projContext.ExecuteQuery();
pages.Add(new ProjectDetailPageCreationInformation() { Id = projContext.ProjectDetailPages[12].Id, IsCreate = false });
CreateEPT("New EPT ", "test desc", "PROJECTSITE#0", pages);
private static void CreateEPT(string strName, string strDescription, string strTemplateName, List<ProjectDetailPageCreationInformation> pages)
EnterpriseProjectTypeCreationInformation newProjType = new EnterpriseProjectTypeCreationInformation();
newProjType.Description = strDescription;
newProjType.Id = Guid.NewGuid();
newProjType.IsDefault = false;
newProjType.Name = strName;
newProjType.ProjectDetailPages = pages;
newProjType.ProjectPlanTemplateId = Guid.Empty;
newProjType.WorkflowAssociationId = Guid.Empty;
newProjType.WorkspaceTemplateName = strTemplateName;
newProjType.Order = 1;
projContext.EnterpriseProjectTypes.Add(newProjType);
projContext.EnterpriseProjectTypes.Update();
I'm getting EnterpriseProjectTypeCreatePDPIsRequired error. Any idea how to resolve this? Or have you created EPT for office 365 project server using CSOM.
Thanks, Saravanan PRS

its code issue. we just need to set IsCreate=true . that did the trick. Thanks to my boss Neall :)

  • Create Project trough enterprise project type with templates does not send notification to team member(email) when published

    Hi All,
    I encountered this issue in my client site when implementing project server 2013.
    At First I thought that this issue occurred intermittently , sometimes project creation (create project from PWA- assign resources with team member -save and publish) trigger email notification to the assigned team member and sometimes not. (new task notification)
    I have checked with our infrastructure team and verify that I use the right SMTP server address and port , and cross check with them for their side configuration (exchange) , we did not find anything wrong on both settings.
    and then we found out that the failed notification email comes from project creation using defined project templates in an enterprise project type, even from a project that consist of template schedule , we added new task on that project and assign a team
    member on that task that resulted with notification sent to the team member, but not with task that comes from templates.
    can someone help us on this issue, or is there any CU on this?
    I appreciate any comments and feedback, Thanks for your attention!

    Kirteshtiw,
    Yes we did create the template from project professional and as far as i know,
    the only way to create template is just to save it, no option to publish the template.
    When you create a new project from template for some of the task you remove the resources then assign resource to those tasks then save and publish the project.
    <--there are no resources assigned from the template, when i assign resources (new assignment) this will not trigger notification
    Or create a new task under summary task assign resource then save and publish the task you notification sent to the resource means it is working.
    <--new task (not from template ) also trigger the notification

  • Saved and publieshed Projects are not linking to the enterprise project types

    Hi
    We have 15 enterprise project types, when we create a  project we will select that EPT's and create projects.
    After create the project -- saving and Publishing -- server settings -- change or restart work flow -- it must show the project under the EPT which we selected but the problem is that it is showing all the projects in None.
    We tried to asscoiate the project to the EPT but still it is ssowing up in basic project paln which we are not using.
    Can any one had faced this kind of issue please revert..
    Thanks for the assistance in advance.
    Geeth If you feel that the answer which i gave you is Helpful please select it as Answer/helpful.

    Usually it means there's a failure in the workflow.  A couple things:
    1) Check the ULS log.
    2) Try creating the projects from a non-SysAdmin account - which typically doesn't have a user profile - which causes workflow to fail.
    3) Try creating an EPT with no workflow and see if you get the same results.

  • I create an enterprise project template in Project Professional but when I go to create a project in PWA the formattting does not carry through to the project

    Hi
    Project Server 2010
    I created an enterprise template in Project Professional and formatted it and set the font to Gill Sans MT, I then pointed the Project type to this project template.
    When I created the new project type in PWA the formatting and font did not carry through to the new project.
    Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
    Kind regards
    M

    Do you find that if you create a project in project professional using a template and then save it the formatting is shown OK? So you only see this problem when you are creating the project from PWA and the plan template is picked up via the Enterprise Project
    Type?

  • Project Server 2010 - create a custom enterprise project field for persons (no text, no lookup table...)

    I want to create a custom enterprise project field and would like to use instead of for example a text attribute or a look-up table a field for employees (e.g. project manager) which are coming e.g. from the Active Directory. But when creating this custom
    project field I cannot see such an option. What solution do you suggest as I want to avoid that everybody uses different names and spellings for e.g. the project manager and without having to fill the lookup table with all resources of the company.
    Thank you so much for your help!

  • Authentication error when creating EPM Add-in connection with SAP BO Enterprise connection type

    Hello, Experts,
    I have a problem with creation of EPM Add-in connection when SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise connection type is selected.
    An error message is "Error while communicating with the server. Framework message: Authorization failed."
    Here are the steps that were implemented and how this issue was reproduced:
    SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 10.0 SP12 for Microsoft was installed and configured.
    Integration between SAP BPC and SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 SP02 was implemented. SAP BO users can successfully connect to SAP BPC system.
    EPM connector was successfully installed and deployed in SAP BusinessObjects BI server.
    BPC ODBO 2.0 SP04 64BIT was installed in SAP BusinessObjects server.
    EPM connection was successfully created in SAP BusinessObjects CMC.
    EPM Add-in and BPC ODBO 2.0 SP04 32BIT was installed in another computer (let's call it CLIENT) which has MS Office 2007 32BIT installed.
    From CLIENT computer we have launched Excel manually and successfully created BPC connection with Connection Type - Local.
    Then we have logged into BI Launch Pad and launched New / EPM document (Excel). Excel has started.
    In EPM Add-in we have pressed Logon.
    In connection window selected SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise connection type.
    An error "Error while communicating with the server. Framework message: Authorization failed." appears.
    Before this error appears we are not getting any window where we could select EPM connection (created in CMC) nor the possibility to enter username or password.
    Looking forward you valuable comments and suggestions.
    Thank you in advance.
    Donatas Budrys

    Dear, Roberto,
    Our user has Full Access to all BPC tasks and it is administrator in BI system.
    Also we can successfully connect with the same user using Connection type "Local".
    We had done some investigation and in the BPC SQL Server trace log we can catch the following message when an error occurs:
    ==============[System Error Tracing]==============
    [System  Name] : BPCXMLAService [Message Type] : ErrorMessage [Job Name]    : ValidateUser [DateTime]    : 04/23/2014 10:58:06 [UserId]      : [Exception]    DetailMsg  : {System.Exception: Invalid user    at SAP.BPC.Services.Webservice.XMLAService.XMLAService.ValidateUser()} ==============[System Error Tracing  End ]==============
    It is very interesting that after the EPM workbook is launched via BI Launch Pad till an error occurs we are NOT provided with possibility to enter any username and password. So the EPM add-in should use the same user which was logged into BI Launch Pad - in our case the user with administrative rights both in BI Launch Pad and BPC systems. Am I missing anything?
    Looking forward your feedback.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Donatas

  • How many enterprise projects we can create in a single project web app site in project server 2013 enterprise?

    I have MS SharePoint 2013 Enterprise and MS Project Server enterprise installed in the same server,
    I have created project web app site
    can anyone tell me that how many enterprise projects I can create in a single Project web app site
    what is the recommended number of enterprise project per project web app

    As I remember each project site is a sub site in a project Web app site collection.  That means you can have a maximum of 250,000 project sites before you run out of space in the site collection.  That's the boundary for sub sites in a single
    site collection for SharePoint 2013.  Project server doesn't have a specific limit.

  • Publication of the big-sized Enterprise projects from Project Professional 2013 to Project Server 2013 takes about 60+ minutes.

    Dear Sirs,
    I need your support over the following MS EPM 2013 issue:
    Publication of the big-sized Enterprise projects from Project Professional 2013 to Project Server 2013 takes about 30+ minutes. We
    need to reduce this total publication time down to acceptable working values 10+- minutes.
    Environment information:
    Single App Server (Virtual): 16 Gb RAM, x64 4xCPU, HDD > 50 GB free disk space, OS Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition x64 Service
    Pack 1, MS SharePoint Server 2013 and MS Project Server 2013 with CU December 2013 (KB 2850024) applied.
    Single RDBMS MS SQL Server (Virtual): 8 Gb RAM, x64 4xCPU, HDD > 200 GB free space, OS Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition x64 Service
    Pack 1, MS SQL Server 2012 x64 SP 1 Enterprise Edition.
    We have 1Gbit LAN between APP, DB server and 1Gbit LAN between APP and Proj Prof Client.
    Yes, we are on the way of migrating to the Prod environment
    with 3-tiered architecture (with SP1 slipstream and CU December 2014 applied), but this issue also
    presents there.
    Project’s file information:
    Tasks in the file: [~4900], resources in the file [~396] enterprise task’s custom fields used in the file [~23].
    Project save procedure for this new project would last about 7 minutes. Project publication would last about 47 minutes. We noticed that
    tasks synchronization process took about 1 second for each ~2,5 tasks, to add them to the sharepoint tasks list. So for all 5148 tasks it took about 5148/3/60 =  34 minutes. Other 13 min was used for reporting database publication and other tasks relevant
    for new sharepoint site creation.
    Case 1: Issue description:
    During the Enterprise project’s file save and publication we have the following sharepoint 2013 log messages:
    07.31.2014 12:43:17.22 Microsoft.Office.Project.Server (0x0358) 0x3D5C SharePoint Foundation Monitoring b4ly High Leaving Monitored Scope
    (Persisting list changes). performing time =376.068676326181 22dca99c-4696-70f1-e9e2-06851d0bcffd
    07.31.2014 12:43:17.69 Microsoft.Office.Project.Server (0x0358) 0x3D5C SharePoint Foundation Monitoring b4ly High Leaving Monitored Scope
    (Persisting list changes). performing time =361.652807828928 22dca99c-4696-70f1-e9e2-06851d0bcffd
    It shows that sharepoint spend at least ~350 milliseconds (or 0,35 sec*4900 tasks = 1715 sec, or 28,5 min) for each task update during
    project publication. And we also have another log file that shows that about 0,7 sec (or 0,7 sec*4900 tasks = 3430 sec, or 57 min) sharepoint spend for save each task in project file to project server. So total save and publication time more then 60+ minutes
    for that project file. The same result we have even if user didn’t do any changes at the project file.
    We use only enterprise projects (dbo.MSP_EpmProject_UserView.projectvisibilitymode = «False»), and do not use sharepoint tasks lists,
    but the synchronization between MSP Plan and SharePoint tasks list works at any case.
    Case 2: Issue description:
    - For the second test we created a new project with new sharepoint project’s site on basis of our «issue» project, with total amount
    of tasks in it of 5148 (yes, we increased the tasks list default limit at the sharepoint site up to 6000 items in it – standard limits for sharepoint view list – 5000 items).
    - Project save procedure for this new project would last about 7 minutes. Project publication would last about 47 minutes. We noticed
    that tasks synchronization process took about 1 second for each ~2,5 tasks, to add them to the sharepoint tasks list. So for all 5148 tasks it took about 5148/3/60 =  34 minutes. Other 13 min was used for reporting database publication and other tasks
    relevant for new sharepoint site creation.
    -Then we deleted the
    tasks list for that new test project from the sharepoint site and republish the project plan one more time. This time project save procedure took about 7 minutes, project publication about 2 minutes and 3 minutes for other relevant queue jobs. So total time
    is 12 minutes.
    As a conclusion: yes, we have determined
    the exact problem - during synchronization process (from Project Server to SharePoint) it perform copying all tasks and related data from Project to SharePoint in spite of fact that you changed only ONE task or ALL of them. At any case, synchronization will
    copy ALL of them from Project Server to SharePOint task’s list.
    Our workaround is to disable the task’s synchronization for such big-sized project plans:
    – to delete the SharePoint «tasks» list at the SharePoint site tied with project plan.
    - or deattach the SharePoint site from the project plan.
    Thank you for reading this topic, please if you also forced with such issue provide us any known workaround or maybe any official response
    \ feedback from MS about it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards, Andrey

    Regarding my topic, I also said that every time when sync works it updates All items from project’s plan at Project Server to corresponded task’s list at SharePOint server. Inspire of the fact that you changed only One task or group /
    all of them at your project’s plan.
    And it seems to me and my colleagues that it’s probably (maybe) a “bug” at the product. Here is what we have if looked a little bit closer to the code:
    Share Point determines what task to sync from Project’s plan to sharepoint list. To do that sharepoint needs to know was that task changed or not, based on the following fileds (check SQL stored procedure “[MSP_READ_TASKS_FOR_SYNCRONIZATION]”):
    TASK_UID    TASK_NAME    TASK_START_DATE    TASK_FINISH_DATE    TASK_PCT_COMP    TASK_PARENT_UID    TASK_OUTLINE_NUM
    WSS_LISTITEM_UID   TASK_ID    TASK_IS_ACTIVE
    We noticed that at any case synchronization performs for all tasks, EXCEPT the ROOT one. Then we looked at the comparison of TASK_PARENT_UID field. So sharepoint compares TASK_PARENT_UID with ParentID (this is internal name for lookup
    field “Tasks” at the Sharepoint, and it stores their values at the format "ID;#Title").
    And comparison performs like following:
    SharePoint looks for Task at the Tasks’s list corresponded to Project’s plan with ID represented at the TASK_PARENT_UID field. Then it takes SharePoint ListItem ID (“int” type) and store it to the “num” parameter;
    num = this.GetCachedListItemByUniqueId(listItem.ParentList, nullable.Value).ID;
       2.Then it compares “num” with task’s “ParentID” at SharePOint as follow with operator “!=”:
    ((SPItem) listItem)["ParentID"] != (System.ValueType) num
       3. If comparison was success (true) – then it tell us that values (at the Project’s plan for tasks) was changed, then it need to be synchronized. Corresponded Method setup “true” flag, and then returns it.
    The “bug” is that this expression at the Step 2 will always return “true”, because in fact it compares “string” (see above – that this is lookup field at SharePoint side)
    with “number”. For example if the parant task ID is “55”, then we get:
    "55;#Task 1" != 55
    And by the rules of .Net the “string” will never equal “number”
    Furthermore this is approved by the SharePoint logs:
    In that case we always get the note “Setting ParentID to” at the logs (we see it if turns on Verbose for “Project Server” -> “Sharepoint Integration” category).
    So at any case of publishing project’s plan we always get that note at the logs for tasks that have Parent task, and we have Parent for all of them EXCEPT the ROOT one, exact logs represented further:

  • Need to create Enterprise field, LookUp Table and PDPs programmatically

    Hi,
    Please suggest how i can create Enterprise field, LookUp Table and PDPs, Workflow Stages, Phases programmatically for Project Server 2013. Any resource / blog link will be really be helpful.
    I searched google but most of them are for PS 2010
    Regards,
    Ankit G

    By Enterprise field i am assuming you mean Custom Field.
    The Google/Bing results for PS 2010 is referring to the PSI model. This model can still be used for Project Server 2013 OnPremise installations, but not for Project Online.
    The question is how do you want to create them/which technology do you want to use. you can program Agains the Project server through the PSI API, the CSOM API, the REST interface, Javascript and VBA code.
    I am gussing you want to create an application that uses C# therefore i will suggest to use the PSI or CSOM API.
    PSI is the old model, but is still supported in PS2013.
    The CSOM is the new model and only Works in PS2013 and comming versions.
    A great reference you should download is the Project Server 2013 SDK:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30435
    I am guessing you are new to Project Server programming so i will suggest you go with PSI as it has the most documentation.
    PSI:
    Getting started:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff843379(v=office.14).aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ee767707(v=office.15).aspx
    Create Custom field:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/websvccustomfields.customfielddataset.customfieldsdatatable.newcustomfieldsrow_di_pj14mref(v=office.15).aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg217970.aspx
    Setting custom field values:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brismith/archive/2007/12/06/setting-custom-field-values-using-the-psi.aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/office/microsoft.office.project.server.library.customfield_di_pj14mref
    Lookuptables are the same procedure:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/websvclookuptable_di_pj14mref(v=office.15).aspx
    Workflow phases/stages:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/websvcworkflow_di_pj14mref(v=office.15).aspx
    PDP's:
    PDP's have to be created through the SharePoint interface as Web Part Pages. I havn't tried this.
    I think you want to do this in a backup/restore scenario. In this case you might consider the free tool Playbooks:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg128952(v=office.14).aspx

  • Custom Project types

    Hi All,
    Is there anyway to define a custom project type( like implementation, upgrade...) through configuration or BADI.
    and what shud we follow to link it to a number range for the maintenance cycle and link this to a subject which will automatically fetch the maintenace cycle of the custom project type.
    kindly give your inputs in this.
    Also there is one more doubt,
    in enterprise edition we were able to link the change request to business processes.... is there any BADI or EXIT or through configuration we can automatically update the transport request for the changes done corresponding to the business process.
    kindly share your inputs
    Thanks and Regards,
    Subhashini.

    I don't think you can filter project types on stock CDT New Project Wizard. But you can create (inherit) your own wizard which filters project types, that would be much easier.
    For that, use extension point org.eclipse.ui.newWizards and subclass CDTCommonProjectWizard.

  • Sub-Project Creation using CSOM in project server 2013

    Hi All,
    We are able to create a project using CSOM,  we would like to create a sub project and template too, however we are unable to set the project type.
    am I missing anything? Any pointer will be helpful.
    Thanks in Advance,

    As of 12/30/2013, I don't see anything in the REST\CSOM that allows you to create a sub project off a top level project.  At the moment, you can't do this via Client APIs and must use Project\PWA to do it.  You can use this tool to find what
    is supported:

    Hiya,
     The error is because the app tried to import that driver but it was not found. So, you will need
    to recheck your project setup, provide locations for imports, etc. I am not familar with Intermec Printer.
    The code snippet does not show any information about the DLL import, check there too.
    Hope this helps. :)
