Creating Search box on Muse site

Does muse have an option to create a search box just for the website?  I can't find any info on this ---

No, currently Muse does not have this feature.
You can use the Google version of this ( there is a HTML code snippet to add to your page to implement this ) to search just your site, but in my opinion, it hasn't worked very well where I have used this work-around.

  • Search Box on my Site

    How do I add a search box on my site? Say Yahoo! Search for instance?

    I use a Google search box.
    http://www.wyodor.net/
    The pages must be indexed by Google to be found.
    This is the page :
    http://www.wyodor.net/searchthissite/
    Look at the source, copy the code and enter your own website URL in the 3 spots.
    Here's another search service that indexes your pages and offers a search box :
    http://www.jrank.org/
    It's more cumbersome to setup.

  • How to create Search Engine for a site

    I have to create a search engine to search a 900 page web site. Most of the pages are JSPs. Is there any standard approach for doing this.
    Thanks

    There are various open source search engines (notably HT://Dig) if you look for them. There are also quite a few people who offer search services on your site with their engine (such as google and Atomz.) It is probably easier to do this than to work on the epic job of writing your own.

  • I can't put a word into the search box on many sites

    I click in the search box to start typing but nothing happens in most sites. There are a few which will respond. This has only happened today. I have made no changes today or yesterday.

    Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
    ''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
    If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Creating search box?

    Hi, can anyone please help me... i have created a search box, but the problem is that i have one search box (text field) and 3 select box's. all of them fall part of the search and are required. I also need to search for only the first letter of names. thanks

    Sounds to me you must have 2 variables for search.
    The first one is the variable for the checkboxes the second one is the one you parse in the search form.
    Once your submit the two search variables to the page, modify your query report to use those variables in the query.
    select * from your_table where some_field like '%your_search%' and some_condition like 'your_checkbox'
    I think that will do the trick, keep in mind you can always have highlighted the results of the query that is a very nice feature.
    Hope this helps. D.

  • How Do I Add A Site Search Box?

    I just upgraded my BC subscription to webMarketing and I am wanting to add a site search box to my site but I am having troubles with the directions found on the Adobe Website: Business Catalyst Help | Add a site search box.
    My first issue is a simple clarification with item #4 under "Create a page to display the search results"
    4. In the editor, enter {module_searchresults} where you want the results to appear on the page.  What exactly is the editor? LOL is that just the Adobe Muse page and I use the text tool and create a box with "{module_searchresults}" in it?
    My next, more critical issue is:
    Add a search box to a template
    Open the template in editing mode by selecting Site Manager > Page Templates, and choosing the template from the list of templates. My BC Admin page has "Site Manager" on the left - but when I click it - it only shows "Web Forms" and "System E-mails" I have no option for "Page Templates".
    So how do I get "Page Templates" to show up.  I'm pretty sure my "webMarketing" subscription allows for a site search box...maybe I am mistaken.
    Thanks for any help!

    The editor is that of the WYSIWYG editor in the BC admin itself.
    The important thing to know is Muse is NOT BC, it is not the only thing you use to make a BC site, far from it. IT is a really basic tool to build basic sites. The instructions you will find on the BC docs will never reference the way to do it for Muse, just BC, or you can use your own code editor.
    So you need to go login to your website admin and then you will find the pages, templates etc.

  • How can I add a site search box to my Muse site?

    I am new to using Muse, and would like to add a site search box to my main master page to allow quick search of my site. Does anyone know if/how this can be done?

    Hi,
    take a look to this thread Search Bar for internal website

  • How do you create a seach box in MUSE?

    how do you create a seach box in MUSE? - viewer enters a keyword and will be lead to correct product

    Hi there - For questions about individual programs, you're better off posting in their specific forums. Here's the Muse forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/general_questions_about_adobe_muse
    That being said, there is currently not a search bar widget that can be added to a site directly from within Muse. However, you can add custom HTML code to your page, with a method such as this: http://www.ehow.com/how_6772398_embed-google-search-bar.html. Just add the custom HTML to your Muse page by going to Object > Insert HTML.
    This page might also help you out: http://www.adobe.com/products/muse/embedded-html.edu.html
    Good luck!

  • Filter search results and create search pages in a intranet site.

    HI
    i created a search service application in a intranet portal.
    and i configured content source as this site.
    and here after i need two things.
    1) how to create a search box in each page of this intranet site
    2) how filter search when any user search it only bring in search results
    related query item contet, any related files like: words,pdf etc
    not bring list and list items where these files saved.
    this intranet portal is publishing template.
    adil

    You need to be a bit more specific about your requirement and your environment. What kind of functionality does your  search need? Are you using enterprise search or FAST?
    1) Your sites should already include default search boxes at the top right corner.  If you need a search web part, you will need to create a web part page and add the search box or advanced search box (need a search center for advanced) onto the web
    part page. If you need to change the default search box layout on all pages, you can do that by editing the master pages.
    2) Are you asking for a specific query to be included in every search? You can can add a default appendded query using the search box web part properties. If you want to just have certain keywords show up at the top, you
    can set up Keyword Best Bets. For the filtering, you will need to use scopes. You can set the scope rules to include/exclude specific sites, folders, content sources or property queries. If you're using FAST, you will need to set the scopes
    up in the FAST Query app, not the FAST content app.
    You can create keyword best bets, scopes and change the search settings for the site collection by going to Root Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Search Settings. Hope this helps. Again, we need more info to provide a more specific
    solution.

  • A search box in dreamweaver, which searches the site not a google search

    Hi would someone be able to tell me, when creating a search box in dreamweaver, do I have to create the pages that answer the text quires entered into the search bar? I know how to create contact forms etc, im just a little confused how a personalised search bar for a website in dreamweaver works. Any opinions or answers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Elle

    others that maybe searching (irony?) for a search form will know what the best method is vs. the throw up in your mouth method that was suggested by others earlier in this thread.
    @shocker,
    The only reference to "vomit" here is your own.  The rudeness of your remarks notwithstanding,  you are once again misinformed, as is so typical when the discussion gets around to 3rd party solutions.
    Freefind is used by Dynamic Drive as well as many other commercial web sites.  Zoom from Wrensoft has received excellent reviews year after year.  And believe it or not, you can fully customize the search parameters, form and results pages to match your site's CSS styles.
    Unless the OP is well versed in dynamic site development (which I doubt based on his question),  I'm afraid an off-the-shelf solution is about the best he can hope for.

  • How do I create a password protected entrance page for a muse site?

    I have created a site in Muse and the client wants it to be password protected for now....the usual Javascript entered between the head and body tags is not working.  Any ideas??

    PASSWORD PROTECTING A PAGE WITH A NICE BOX DESIGNED INTO YOUR PAGE
    FINALLY, I'VE FOUND AN ANSWER TO PASSWORDING A PAGE OR SECTION WITH ADOBE MUSE WITH GREAT SIMPLICITY AND ALLOWING YOU TO 'DESIGN' THE PASSWORD BOX INTO YOUR PAGE!!!
    Even better is that you don't HAVE to have username AND password (although you could if you wanted to), so just a simple PASSWORD box and enter button DESIGNED BY YOU WITHIN YOUR PAGE, rather than nasty popups etc.  Importantly, the password itself is NOT within the source code of your page either!!
    The solution is at Jotform.com. I believe you can do this with a FREE ACCOUNT, although it's SUCH a great service for Musers that I paid for a proper account.
    Before you do this, create a page on your site saying "Wrong Password. Please go away" or something to that effect. You'll need it for when they enter the wrong password.
    So, in Jotform, you just create a new form and:
    1. Drag on a password box (it's in the power tools section)
    2. Select it and go to Conditions
    3. Go to Change Thank You URL after submission
    4. Enter: If [name of your password box] field EQUALS TO [enter your password]
    5. In the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your protected page and click save
    6. In the resulting box click "ADD A NEW CONDITION" and do the SAME as stets 3 to 5 but this time say NOT EQUALS TO" with your same password and in the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your WRONG PASSWORD page and click save
    7. Embed the button on your page and you're done!!!
    If you want to mess about with the EXACT alignment of a right aligned button and text box, you can go to Preferences and in the box which allows you to add your own custom CSS, enter the following code and mess about with the values until it's perfect for you:
    .form-buttons-wrapper { padding-top:3px !important; }#id_2 {margin-left: -50px !important;}
    Here's an example, built in Muse: www.hileytv.com/about.html
    I hope this helps my fellow Musers!

  • How to create custom search box will allow up to 60 alphanumericcharacters & User can input a minimum of 1 character and the system will pull back an exact match on the sequence entered.

    Hi,
    Can anyone please help me in creating the Custom Search box with below mentioned functionality
    "The search box will allow up to 60 alphanumeric characters.User can input a minimum of 1 character and the system will pull back an exact match on the sequence entered"

    Hi Pradeep,
    Find the complete JQuery AutoComplete function with along with different events in it like focus, select, open and close. You can modify this code as per your requirement.
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").autocomplete({
    source: function (request, response) {
    var getUrl = "<site URL>";
    $.ajax({
    url: getUrl,
    type: "GET",
    contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
    dataType: "json",
    data: {
    featureClass: "P",
    style: "full",
    maxRows: 10
    dataFilter: function (data, type) {
    return data.replace(/\\'/g, "'");
    success: function (data) {
    response($.map(data.d, function (result) {
    return {
    label: result.Last_Name + ", " + result.First_Name,
    value: result.id
    focus: function (event, ui) {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
    return false;
    minLength: 1,
    select: function (event, ui) {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
    return false;
    open: function () {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-all").addClass("ui-corner-top");
    close: function () {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-top").addClass("ui-corner-all");
    Let us know if you need any further.
