Creation of assets in only one depreciation area.

hi
We have a request to create several assets for an existing asset class (some of them with capitalization date in the past) such that the values reflect only in the local GAAP depreciation area 22.
For example here is the requirement
Asset Class     Asset     Description      Period      Year     Amount     Cost center     Comment
1000     NEW     ABCD     1     2006     50000.00     12345     New asset for dep area 22
1000     NEW     PQRS     2     2006     75000.00     67890     New asset for dep area 22
Can someone please provide the steps do it

Try AS91 to create and OASV to accounting depreciation

  • AA implement aaset value for only one depreciation area

    Hi,
Is it possible change acquisition value of asset for only one depreciation area, the area 20 for example?
By point of view of FI I can post the accounts of area 20 by  trx OASV,
but in AA how can I do?
If I use the trx AB01 the  acquisition value is modified in every area.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You upload the values in AM with the transaction AS91, this don't create postings in FI. It is possible to upload different values by depreciation area.
With the transaction OASV you create manual the total postings in FI. An other option is to use the transaction  ABF1 (search on this forum with ABF1 how it is working)
When an area post direct you have to use the transaction OASV (asset account is reconcilation accounts) for the other area you can use a standard FI posting.
When you use AB01 you can create you own transaction type and limet them to one depreciation area or a group (tray to play with Tty 147, there you can fill in amounts by depreciation area.)

  • Posting entry in one depreciation area

    Hi
I am capitalizing one expense in company's act depreciation area (i.e. book depreciation area) and capitalizing it in another depreciation area (say IFRS depreciation area)
How to do this in SAP
Because i need to create asset master in one depreciation area and post acquisition and depreciation in one depreciation area.
How to handle it in SAP asset Accounting

Does it mean i need to create one transaction type and i need to limit it to one depreciation area   YES
With the limtation from a new transaction type to that depreciation area you want to post to it is only posting in that depreciation area.
It is not relefant if there are other depreciation areas in the master data from your asset for the posting

  • Stop depreciation and interest on one depreciation area

We have area 01 depreciation and area 70 - which for us is a managerial (statistical) depreciation posting with interest.  When this depreciation and interest is posted the offset is to a contra account so when looking at the FI side it nets to zero.  The asset is owned by the leasing company and we indicate on the time dependant tab which operating company is getting the statistical depreciation and interest.
Our issue is the they 'transfer' these assets to another operating company with a fair market value.  The asset itself does not leave the leasing company and true FI depreciation is not touched.  Since we need to show a new value for the asset for the statistical depreciation and it gets a new depreciation schedule we found creating a sub asset and doing ABSO to 'write up' area 70 with the FMV of the transfer amount allows us to start the statistical depreciation to the transfered operating company with no issues.  The issue is stopping the area 70 depreciation and interest on the main asset - to the first operating company.
I tried putting a scrap value equal to the remaining book value on the main asset in depreciation area 70 and that did stop the depreciation - but it's still trying to post interest for the next period and beyond.
Ideas?  Options you guys can think of?
    Thanks
    Karla

    Hi,
    a) Copy the retirement transaction to a new one and restrict it to post only in area 70. You can then completly dispose the asset in that area.
    b) Use/create a depreciation key in that area that has Shutdown = Yes. In the time dependant tab you can then set the asset to shutdown and it will stop depreciating.
    Kind regards

  • Populate Depreciation areas to the assets created with no depreciation area

    Hi,
We created few Assets under a particular asset class. But only after creating we realised that there were no depreciation areas in it. So I added the depreciation areas to this asset class and then run
AFBN to populate the newly created depreciation areas to the existing assets. But it is not working. Could you please help me to populate these depreciation areas to those existing assets. Is it possible or not?
Please note, the depreciation area tab is completely blank. When I try AFBN for Depr area 01 (Derived Depr area), the system throws a message "Define depreciation area correctly".
I also tried AFBN with "Leave values initial" indicator checked. But still no results.
Do any one of you know how to populate the depr areas to those assets? The User have already created 45-50 assets. If there is no solution, then the last resort is to delete these assets.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi Vinod,
AFBN is a simple tool, which copies entries from a source area to a target area. If you have no areas at all defined in the asset master record, there is no source to be copied.
I would propose to delete these assets with AS06 if possible and start over in this asset class. As I understand your description you can not have any posting to such assets up to now.

    Markus

  • System does not reset asset retirement date for Depreciation Area specific transaction after area has been deleted

    Good day,
I needed to create a new depreciation area in a live system. The depreciation area would not post to the GL, but would be used for tax purposes in a currency other than the local currency. When creating this area the asset values were translated at the system exchange rate which did not agree with the values of the manually maintained tax register. I proceeded by creating new transaction types that would only post to the new area, one of which was an asset disposal transaction, which would be used for downward adjustment of the APC value. I made my adjustments at the end of the previous financial year, but had to start over and proceeded to delete the depreciation area to allow me to start over.
After reinstating the depreciation area, my original adjustments were removed, however the assets which APC values needed to be adjusted downward using the disposal transaction, was giving me the AA 478 Posting transaction is not possible (value date not allowed) error.
I've reviewed the asset postings and there is no record of my original adjustment documents. The problem seems to be that field ANLA-ABGDT (Last Retirement Date), is still indicating the date of my previous adjustments and that this was not updated when the Depreciation Area was deleted and reinstated.
Again, I do not have any documents which I can access or reverse to update this table. Is there any way to clear this field without reversing the disposal document?
I'm also looking at implementing SAP note 1618286, to make error message AA478 a warning. I could not implement SAP note 533378 since it only supports component version 46c and we are currently running component verson 605.
I would appreciate your consideration of my problem.
    Regards
    Marius

If you are in Test System, you can use function module AA_AFABER_DELETE to totally delete the depreciation area (tcode SE37, specify chart of depreciation and depreciation area), After that recreate your depreciation area and run AFBN. But before you do that, have you created a retirement transaction type that limits the posting on your new depreciation area? If not create one.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks!

  • Asset transfer from One Business Area to another Business Area

    Hello,
I am going to transfer my Asset from One Business area to another business area. So, I allready created a new asset and transfer through TCODE-ABUMN. But system gives me this error
Posting with trans.type 320 not possible (No acquisition posted)
    Message no. AA324
    Diagnosis
Transaction type 320 belongs to a transaction type group, which can only be used to post to assets to which posting has already been performed. However, no postings have been made to this asset.
    Procedure
Use a transaction type from a transaction type group, which can be used for the first acquisition to an asset.
can any one please tell me how I transfer my Asset from one business area to another Business area?

    Hi
First make sure in your company code global setting in the OBY6 for company code wise ..Iin this screen  Indicator: Business area financial statements required if it is ticket
Please  don't change business area for old asset . because it will effect the Business area balance sheet.  So create new asset and change business area at cost center level
Finally transfer the balance from old asset to new assets in the ABUMN
                OR
IF you want solution as per your issue ..Go to SPRO-> Financial Accounting-> Asset Accounting->Transactions-> Specify Default Transaction Types

  • Posting to only main depreciation area

    Hi,
My clients need to post and asset adquisition to only main area (area 01) for the rest of the depreciation areas the asset APC value must remain 0. Problem is that adquisition is made though PS. During settlement (CJ88) every single area gets the same value. So How can I correct that afterwards ? For example using tx ABSO or something like that.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matias A.

    hi,
you have to create a separate movement type and restrict it to area 01 only. You can do it in customizing.

  • Depreciation posting using only one depreciation

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We are maintaining for the purpose of depreciation 4 depreciation methods.
1 is for the company code
2 is for the income tax purpose
3 is for the purpose of costing
4 is for the purpose of IFRS (International Fianancial Reporting)
Now my requirement is is it possible to run depreciation only for the purpose of coting and not make any other entries.
The reason why I am asking you this is for the purpose of management reporting whether it is only possible to post these ( Costing Related) entries periodically though the others are not passed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Hari

    Hi Paul,
Thank you for the early reply.
We have already created 4 depreciation areas.
My questionis whether we can only run depreciation for cost accounting while not running for the other and how do I do it.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Post revaluation to selected depreciation area of an asset

    Hi,
We are using depreciation area '01' for posting to GL accounts and '02' for fiscal reporting. It turned out that couple of assets had wrong depreciation key specified for depreciation area '02', which resulted in wrong depreciation calculated for '02' in last 3 years.
We would like to correct it now, once we discovered this issue. One of the ideas was to create new revaluation transaction type which is active only for depreciation area '02', which will only change value of asset in that particuaral area without affecting correct '01',
However, after configuring new transaction type in AO84 and assigning it to '02' depreciation area in OAXJ, when I tried to run ABAW for this asset - it gave me error AA 380.
'Inconsistency between the specifications for transaction type Z11 and for the depreciation areas in chart of depreciation PTI.
Depreciation area 02 is defined (in Customizing), so that it is required to take over values from area 01. However, one of these ares cannot be posted to, due to the specifications in transaction type Z11. This combination is not allowed.'
Is it possible to configure postings only to one depreciaton area? If not - is there any other easy way of revaluating only one depreciation area for an asset.
    Thank you,
    Karol

    Hi Blaz,
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to increase the value of the asset in depreciation area 02, because due to wrong depreciation key it got fully depreciated last year in 02. I want to add the value to 02 which should have not been depreciated in last 2 years. Is there a way to increase its value using ABAA?
    Thank you,
    Karol

  • COA and Depreciation Areas

    Hello!
Is it possible to assign two different chart of account to a only one depreciation area?
    Thanks
    Best regards,
    Bruno

    Hi Bruno,
    This is not possible.
We just need to understand the concept about assignment of COA and COD, we don't assign chart of account to depreciation area, actually you assigned One company code to one Chart of account (COA)T.code OB62 and same way one Company code is assigned to one operational  chart of depreciation (COD) T.code OAOB. Just go to t.code OB62, and OAOB, you will not get an option to have multiple COA and COD against one company code.
Note: But one chart of account and one chart of depreciaton we can assigned to many company code.
If you go to AO99, system will pick automatically the chart of account based upon chart of deprection assignment to company code and company code assignment to chart of account.
I hope this will clear you understanding.

  • Link-Group Asset Class, Depreciation Area & Depreciation Key

    Dear Experts,
I am new to FI-AA Customization & have a basic query about Group Asset Concept.
I am working on Ecc 6.0 & for Country India.
I want to create Group Asset for calculation of Depreciation as per Income Tax Act.  Hence there is just one Depreciation Area (for Group Assets) , but the Depreciation keys are different.  E.d IN1, IN2 etc. (Country Version India)
    Now the questions are :
    1) Do we need to create different Asset Class for different Group Assets or to create just 1 Asset Class for all Group Assets.
E.g. I want to calculate Depreciation As per income Tax Act on Gross Block of Building, Furniture & Fixture, Motor Car, Vehicles etc. So I need to create separate Group Asset Class for each one of above or just to create one Group Asset Class.
    2) If we need to create just one Asset Class for all Group Assets; how to maintain a Depreciation Key in OAYZ as there are more than 1 Depreciation Keys?
    3) is there any other method / functionality to calculate Depreciation as per income Tax Act or Group Asset is the only functionality?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Reshma

    Dear,
    Reshma.
Looking at your Questions let us take explanation for Group Assets :-
1 ) We need to create new different asset class for Group Class in OAOA. Then permit the depreciation area for only Group Asset in OAYM as it is in your current scenario India  is Depreciation Area 15 Just select your company code in OAYM and check the Grp Asset field for respective area 15. Then go to OAAX here we have to maintain the assets classes particularly for Group Assets. So check your Group Asset classes for Group Assets. Cerate different Group asset classes for your said requirement.
In these depreciation areas, it is then possible to make an assignment to a group asset.  You make this assignment in the specifications for the depreciation area in the asset master record.  When you post an acquisition to this kind of asset, the system duplicates the line items from this depreciation area on the given group asset.
2 ) According to me you have to create different depreciation keys for Group Asset classes. Assign the Depreciation keys to your newly created Group Asset Classes in OAYZ and make sure you are deactivating 01 area which is Book Depreciation area.
3 ) As far as I know this is the only functionality available to handle Group Assets. How ever SAP does not have any standard Group Assets functionality. SAP does not supply asset classes to be used solely for group assets. It is we have to determine as per varying Business Process.
I hope this will clear your doubt makes you to understand. Please revert back for further clarification. Welcome you.

  • No depreciation areas have been defined for asset

    Dear consultant,
By mistake from our user had deactivated Depreciation Area in T-code AS92 for Auc asset 1200005 please suggest
How can we activate Deprecation  area ?
Because We already settled 350 line item in same asset and still 150 item we have to settle from this asset.
The  problem is if I  run any T-code related that asset getting error
No depreciation areas have been defined for asset 1200005-0
    Message no. AA025
one more thing i want to tell you that this happend only for one asset not for entire asset class I check in IMG Setting is ok for asset class.

I tried doing this but I got an error:
Depreciation area 01, which you want to create as a new depreciation area in chart of depreciation TTHI, has no depreciation area defined for value takeover. This may be be correct for normal operation, however for the purposes of creating a new depreciation in the productive system, you have to enter a depreciation area whose values are used as base values for the new area.
Do you have another solution for this?
I hope anybody can help me on this issue.
