Creative Cloud experience so far?

I'm on the fence about giving this a try instead of purchasing the physical product. I love the idea of having access to latest tools for an affordable upfront pricing plan... but I hate the idea that once my subscription is cancelled or runs out, I can't open my files afterward. So, what is the overall experience everyone has with using Creative Cloud? Good, bad, ugly and the bottomline?

My overall experience is so far so good. For the past 20 years I have used box products, usually a few versions behind the current version, so my biggest worry has been "what happens if adobe forces an update on me and it breaks backwards compatibility". once you have the programs you want installed and running, you can deny updates to keep your version "stable".
One thing I don't like is the adobe application manager. From there you can install products, but it doesn't tell you how many GB you need to download for each product... then if you need to reboot your computer before the download is finished, it starts all over again downloading from the beginning. This whole process could be much more user-friendly.
As far as being concerned if your sub runs out, for me it's easier to pay $50/month than $2,000+ up front. Last month I switched credit cards and when adobe tried to charge my old card it was denied. I was locked out of my software for about 24 hours until I could get the payment through. It's a small price to pay in order to save tons of upfront money.

I agree. I personally just want to downgrade to a single-app account, and the company makes this almost impossible to do. Is this even legal?

  • So sick of this - Creative Cloud in OSX Mission Control

I'd like to summarize this problem briefly, and only briefly because I know adobe is already "aware of this issue and working on fixing it" (Adobe 2013) because of tons of other posts about this.  You see, I am, like many other poor, tortured human beings, subscribed to the Creative Cloud service.  One of the many problems with that is, when I switch desktops on my mac, the creative cloud window pops up.  In addition, it shows up in my Mission Control even though its not even open or a traditional application in the first place.  This wouldn't be a huge problem if not for 2 reasons.
    A. This is a small issue that is EASILY fixable for Adobe that affects me constantly
    B.  I pay $50 a month for this.
Also, I know about the tweak where you switch it to windowed mode, which is just as bad because it shows up in my dock for some reason and even forgets that I've switched to windowed mode.  I'd like to mention also that this is not strictly speaking, an error.  This happens on EVERY Mac that has Creative Cloud installed as far as I can tell.  It has happened since I first downloaded the software OVER A YEAR AGO.  I mean there are posts dating back to 2013 by Adobe employees saying they're going to fix this.
I just think it's weird how I bought an app for a dollar the other day that gives me system stats from the menu bar, and it has exactly none of these problems, yet I give you people $50 a month and I can't expect a fraction of the quality.
TLDR: I'm considering admitting myself because I've been having thoughts of switching to Inkscape.

I may have not read your post correctly. In the pinned mode, the CC Desktop window does not show up when I switch workspaces, and it does not show up in Mission Control, at least not on my Macbook (10.9.5)  Might act differently in your setup.
I would suggest quitting the CC app until you need it, but you might be using your Typekit, Portfolio and Storage and can't simply exit.
However clicking on the CC Cloud Storage icon in your Finder will bring it back up instantly.
Sorry. For a second, I thought I had a workaround.

  • Do I need to uninstall Photoshop CS5 to get creative cloud to work?

I've done almost everything on the list of things to do to get the blue spinning wheel to go away when I click on the apps. One of the options says to uninstall Creative Suite 5 and Elements 11 applications. Does that include Photoshop CS5? Not going to do that if that is the case. The other option is to delete the entire contents of the OOBE Folder which then says it will make Creative Cloud upload slower, which doesn't sound like a great option. This whole creative cloud experience has been terrible and I want it to stop. Thanks

CS versions have nothing to do with CC, neither technically nor in terms of licensing. While it is imaginable that the activation systems collide, that's like a one in a million chance. Therefore uninstalling CS% probably would not fix anything. the rest we cannot know. you have not provided any system information or other useful technical details.

  • Creative Cloud Availability across the world

    Hi!
I travel a lot. And I want to make sure that my Creative Cloud membership will be active across the globe.
So here's a question: when i purchase membership in one country, will I  be able to use my creative cloud and
all of its applications in other countries?
For example, if I were purchased it in Ukraine, would it be available to me in Israel?
Thanks in advance for an answer.

    Welcome to the forum.
I think concerning global availability it's more about the markets/countries Adobe has currently entered and presently offer the "Sale" of creative cloud. As far as usability past the "sale", once you own the software all you should need is an internet connection for the subscription service to periodically verify your status under the required duration based upon your terms.
    Rewiew the following:
Do I need ongoing Internet access to use my Adobe Creative Cloud desktop applications?

Having said that, the Adobe availability matrix, shows the only Creative Cloud currently being sold in the Ukraine is for teams only, not individuals. So not sure if that impacts you in anyway?

  • Idea: make it easier to find the Creative Cloud status page.

I didn't know about http://status.creativecloud.com/ until I found it in a link here.  I see no links on any of the pages.  I'd bet you'd get a lot fewer questions about things like the fact that, according to the twitter feed (and can we get a link to that too) on the STatus page:
"All regions are not able to sync files using Creative Cloud Connection (desktop sync app).
    15th May 06:02pm"
So now we KNOW it's broken, but it would be nice for you guys to make the status page easier to find and less likely to drive us kind of mad screaming.

IMHO: It seems like a live feed / overview could be right with in the desktop Creative Cloud experience from a status standpoint with enough feedback to allow users to know what is going on at present status? Seems like a pretty obvious glaring omission, if it's not already present and an absolute necessity for users via a desktop status indication.

Potete aiutarmi? Grazie, Stefano Dalla Pellegrina

  • Adobe Creative Cloud nothing but problems so far...

First of all. I am asked to sign in and accept agreements multiple times a day, almost everytime I open a program. The creative cloud application sign me out constantly.
Second, my programs all hang when they open. Illustrator may take up to a minute to actually open. It's only the Adobe programs that hang, all other programs on my computer respond quickly as they should.
Third, Bridge starts quickly but takes forever to populate the folder panel and show anything. It's just maddening!
So are these bugs that will be fixed or am I stuck with this behavior?

Just bought and installed PS and LR via CC both apps installed and are in the correct win dir. Neither app will launch (tho PS does very quickly flash the splash screen before closing). I have tried the fix at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately-launch.html, it did not work. I done a system restore and went trough the whole CC install process again, but still LR nor PS will open.I have tried disconnecting from the internet before launch but also with no success. Have updated graphic the card driver and have all the latest windows drivers installed. Have spent many hours now trying to find a fix. Any ideas?
    Sony VAIO (laptop)
    Windows 8.1 Pro (genuine)
    i7-3632, 16GB RAM, AMD Radon HD 7600, 1TB SSD
Have now done a clean re-install of Windows 8.1 Pro from CD. Still having same problems, tho LR will now open but is in some sort of limited mode eg; Develop and Map module disabled. Please renew your membership to reactivate. Photoshop no change Splash Screen and then nothing.
I have tried signing out and in of Adobe Creative Cloud (no change), also under Apps when signed in, it says Photoshop CC (2014) and Lightroom 5 are both Up to date with a green tick. My online account says it is paid and current.
side note; have also disabled all firewalls and AV still no change.
Getting very close to being over CC... Many hours wasted and still not working!!!

  • Subscribed to creative cloud, awesome! scared to go too far yet...

Hi, i am wondering if there is more "premium partner" specific info or guide on how to utilize creative cloud as an existing bc partner stuck in their old ways, haha
I signed up for creative cloud 2 weeks ago, its that good! and luckily i did with my correct bc adobe id, but now i have the cloud and i can see my partner client sites there... but as a premium partner, should we still do our new site setup etc in our partner portal?  It seems the partner portal is gone from all documentation and faqs...
It seems most of the instructions are geared toward new users of both cloud and bc, but neglect to suggest best practices for old partners used to the partner portal, and how to leverage the new cloud as an old  partner, not just a new creative cloud user.
I get the creative cloud, and can't wait to dive in with access to all the apps and cloud storage, right on!!! but i feel there is still a missing manual on how to properly use bc with the cloud. Ive read everything, but I guess i would just like a simpler, "old partners should now do it this way now, or continue doing the same thing" type suggestion guide,
For now, i am going to continue using bc the old way with dw 5.5 untill i stop seeing "dw6 error discussions with partners" threads, and hope this bc/cloud/partner irons itself out better.
Maybe we can just start a thread for old partners, state each post using "if this, then that" formula
ie "if you created new trial site in the portal before, you should still use the portal, the cloud will display them"
ie "premium partner sites should ignore the 5 free sites cloud feature as they are meant for new cloud users, not premium partners which get as many free sites as they want"
just thinking proactively as a patner with questions, New services we explore, but then we end up doing irreversible actions as partners, so hopefully partners can unite and leverage all the new features from adobe.

Similar problem just happened to me with the Creative Cloud Update 1.7.1.418—slightly different so I thought I'd share. I have multiple Adobe Creative Cloud programs installed on my computer, all working just fine. I updated the Cloud App to the latest version and then it shows me that I have only one program installed! All my previously installed programs (Photoshop and the like) still work but show as "install" instead of "Up to date". Initially I thought I'd have to re-install the Cloud app or recreate the OPM data base but then I noticed that some of the Cloud app preferences (Apps > Settings > App Language) were different to what I had set previously. I use English (International) language, the update had reverted the app back to English (North American). I flicked back to my previous language and bam, all my apps now show as being installed correctly.

  • Creative Cloud evaporates - billing fiasco

This is both a plea for help and a rant:
I've been trying to subscribe to the Cloud for nearly a month now and my trial versions are about to run out leaving me with numerous cleint projects in limbo. I still have CS6 (and 5 & 5.5 because I am a bit paranoid about legacy issues) but most new projects I've been shooting on Sony's new 4K codec which is only available on CC (not sure why they can't offer a new codec in CS6 but that's another topic).
For some reason, every time I order Creative Cloud I get this message: "We'll look into that and get back to you You should get an email from us by next business day. If you don't hear back from us, you can check your order status on your account page or call us at +1 800-585-0774" and every time I get no answer and the order does not show up in my account. I've wasted nearly six hours with tech support (at my hourly billing rate I could have paid for the full Creative Suite for a year in that time) and am no closer to resolving this issue than when it started. I've placed the order on Chrome, Safari and Firefox in case it was a browser issue, but receive the same message each time.
Beyond the fact that in a few days my trial versions will expire and I'll have to explain to my clients that I can't finish their projects because I can't pay my subscription fees, I am deeply worried that even if I can magically fix this problem that billing issues like this will arise in the future. By now I have absolutely no faith left in Adobe's ability to provide Cloud services and am looking for any and all options outside of Creative Suite for high-end productions. I know for editing there are options (FCP and Avid) but for motion graphics AE seems the best from my experience. I'd hate to switch back after all the time and cost of moving to a predominately Adobe video workflow the past three years (not to mention all the third party plug-ins) but I need a platform that is reliable and this Cloud seems to evaporate far too easily.
Does anyone have any aswers on how I can possibly get CC to work? If not, anyone have suggestions on other platforms that are comparible?

  • My Creative Cloud still thinks I'm on a trial and won't accept my serial number.

I have been set up with a seat on a Creative Cloud team and downloaded/started to use all apps.  The second day in it's now saying that premiere has 29 days left of its trial period.  I have clicked through to license the software and put in my serial number but that is being rejected as invalid.  Can anyone help?  The web chat team said it was a technical issue and put me on to customer services call centre but I'm just sitting in a never-ending queue of calls.
    Thanks,
    David

I had the same problem. It was infuriating.  I found nothing of help from forums like this. (Instructions like Dave's from March 1 seemed to disregard my problem, telling me to do something I'd done long ago).  So I tried to contact tech support, only to learn that they don't work after hours, and not at all during the weekends!!  I couldn't believe it. I still can't.
So I contacted Adobe customer service -- which is available 24/7, because, after all, they are the sales people!
(In other words:  Adobe will take your money any time, day or night, and it will do so while promising access to the latest and greatest software service any time day or night. But Adobe won't spring for the funding to actually back that service, to ensure that people get what they pay for, to ensure that people get what they are promised by the sales force working for Adobe around the clock. )
Anyway.... after a long time chatting with customer service, they informed me that my payments were up to date, so they told me it was a technical problem, and I would just have to wait the 3 days (it was a holiday weekend) until tech support comes to work in the morning of the next business day.
When the time came (and they only work Pacific Time business hours), I called Adobe technical support, only to be told that it would be several hours before somebody would be available!!  (Of course, Adobe ensures that nobody ever has to wait for their sales support representative, aka- customer support representatives.)
If Adobe did not have such a monopoly, this would not occur.
And, if Adobe did not have such a monopoly, I would no longer be a customer. (In fact, I might not be a customer now, even given that fact, except that my work relies on some adobe code now.)
So I was feeling frustrated to such a degree that ike I cannot begin to describe it.
Finally, though, I went online again, and searched for help on my own. After all, I'd already discovered that this was not a new problem for Adobe -- it's just one they'd not bothered to fix, apparently.
And finally, I ran across instructions that were better written than Dave's March 1 reply.
Then I was able to unlock my software.
The thing that one must do, is to re-enter your Adobe ID, which is probably your email address, and your password.  It seems redundant and unnecessary. But it should work, based on my experience (I've had to do it numerous times now).
So, if anyone with this problem has read down this far, and hasn't yet solved the problem, just look for a link that says something about signing in with your Adobe ID.  I think it's a simple text link, and the link should appear on the popup-style window regarding your activation.  (I don't recall if the link appears before or after the rejection message, but if you cycle through those screens, you'll see it. After clicking the link, the appropriate form fields will appear.) Once you enter/re-enter your Adobe ID and password, your software should be available.
But -- and this is very important -- do NOT just go on about your business. Raise hell with Adobe about the problem, and their lack of tech support, etc. It's all really inexcusable. The solution might seem simple, but if you don't know the solution, then you're SOL.
And many people, esp people who are amateur photographers like my mother, might subscribe to Adobe's Cloud service and photo-editing software, and not look to forums like this for help. They'll only rely on Adobe tech support -- which is chronically underfunded by Adobe, and thus unavailable most of the time (considering hours closed, and wait times combined).
And if enough people complain to Adobe, maybe Adobe will fix this problem (along w/ other problems) and fund tech support enough to actually provide us with the tech support that we need for a 24/7 software subscription service.
And, if you complain, be sure to ask for a month's credit. You  might just get it.  And then Adobe mgt might listen to your complaints a bit more.
