Creative Product Registrat

Hi. Everytime we log in to our laptop, an error message comes up and won't go away. The message says the following:
CREATIVE PRODUCT REGISTRATION
This is not a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED MB Ready System.
This program will only run on a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED MB Ready system.
When I click OK, the message doesn't go away. We still have sound, so I don't know what I need to get rid of this message.
Help!
Thanks.

I recommend getting a startup manager and trying to narrow down just which creative app. is causing the error. You can get a great one from:
www.windowsstartup.com (Starup Inspector)
Make sure to click the "Consult" button after you open it so it checks online for what each file does. You may end up speeding your run speed and boot-time a good bit while your at it too
After you know which app. is causing the problem you can either re-install it or be able to very accurately describe the problem to Creative support.Message Edited by sni'ves on 0-22-2006 2:06 AM

• Disappointing support - will not buy creative products any more

Hi,
just wanted to share my experience with creative support. Just to keep in mind for those planning to buy creative products...
I bought a Zen X-fi 2 last summer. Mainly the features of sleep-timer and alarm using any mp3 file have been my selection criteria for this player, because I was interested in automatic switch-off in the evening and a wakeup in the morning by some nice music instead of a standard beeping of my alarm clock.
Unfortunately, I am really disappointed now by creative. As I already reported here (<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-X-Fi-2-Problems-with-snooze-function/m-p/56477)"]http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-X-Fi-2-Problems-with-snooze-function/m-p/56477) I experience some bugs with the above mentioned features. Let me summarize:
- interestingly, the alarm will repeat 3 times AT MAXIMUM, i.e., even if you choose "snooze" after the 3rd repeat, it will not repeat again.
--> official (!!) statement of creative: "it is the intended behavior of the player, which shall avoid discharging of the player in alarm mode."
?Well I cannot understand this, because it should be a simple "if" statement in the firmware, to check whether the user pushed the screen or not. Of course I understand, that if the user does not do anything after the alarm went off, the repeating signal of alarm should be restricted in repetition to avoid the complete discharging. But as soon as user interaction takes place, the player should behave like it is expected from the labeling on the screen, right?
?- One reproducible bug: In general the player repeats the alarm 3 times at maximum also, if you just hit the touch-screen once, but do not choose "snooze" or "turn off alarm" (in addition, the buttons on the screen are too tiny in my opinion - just try to push the right button if you're sleepy in the morning...). BUT: at certain initial times of alarm (e.g. 6:40, 7:45 or 6:50, 7:50, 7:5), if you just hit the touchscreen once without further selections, the alarm does not repeat 3 times, but only once or twice AND it will repeat one or two hours later.
?--> Very interesting behavior. The only reaction of creative support: "we forwarded the feedback to our developers, but we cannot tell you if your recommendations will be implemented into the next firmware."
?Why are bugs like that treated as "feedback" or "recommendation" that apparently have not to be resolved?
?- finally, if you use the sleep-timer and your player powers-off in the evening (in the middle of a song, if you listen to music), then the player will continue the song as soon as you turned off the alarm the next morning. This is annoying, because you have to go to "Music -> now playing" and stop it also. A behavior I would not expect, do you agree?
I waited for a corrected firmware for half a year now - nothing changed, only standard replies of the support, no offers how to solve these problems.
Perhaps you now understand why I cannot recommend creative any more and definitely will not buy or recommend any creative product in the future.
Originally, I thought that companies are interested in satisfied customers - seems like creative is going a different way...
Keep this in mind before you finally choose creative...
regards

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your issue. If you are saying that you are having issues connecting to the iTunes Store directly from your iPad, for example to purchase music, you may find the troubleshooting in the following article helpful:

• Windows 7 - Driver Availability Chart For Creative Products is nearly useless

<span class="text"> is outdated Windows pre-release drivers (at least for the Audigy SB0090 series) back from July. This appear to be revamped Vista drivers that are not usable for W7 RTM. MS made changes to W7 where most Vista drivers do not work properly any more.
When I try to install the drivers through the installer I get the incompatibility error and the installer quits, then I get the failed install pop-up for W7.
What I would like to know is when Creative plans on releasing drivers that work with W7 RTM? Llinking drivers that worked for W7 RC is not helping and really should be removed.
I have used Creative sound cards since just before the SB6 came out. I have been a loyal Creative customer from early on. But if Creative can not deali'ver a fully working driver suit for my sound card by the end of the month (November) I would appreciate knowing so I can start looking for another a replacement, which won't be a Creative product.
Even though my last 3 MBs have had good built-in sound, I have went out and bought Creative sound cards because I wanted the best, which Creative has previously provided.
I need to upgrade my MB so I have put of buying a new sound card until I do. But if I'm forced to buy a new sound card because Creative says it will provide drivers that work with W7 RTM and for what ever reason can not do so, I will not be buying another Creative product.
I maintain 4 PCs of my own so that will be 4 cards bought from a competitor since Creative has completely dropped the ball. All major component manufacturers have been able to release stable drivers at the same time as W7 RTM release , or within days after release. Why hasn't Creative been able to do so? Creative was able to release suitable drivers for RC in a timely fashion, what happened with W7 RTM? Did they recently fire all the programs and techs?
Please do not link useless info. Please find out what is going on and tell the powers-that-be at Creative they have some really upset customers and ask them to tell us what is happening here. Tell them we would like to know when Creative plans on releasing drivers for W7 RTM so we can make the decision to wait it out or buy replacements.

Again, yes Device Manager has no problem detecting the card and W7 has no problem loading the default Window drivers for it.
Since I had to replace my TV Tuner Card, I used Device Manager to remove it and my Audigy card and then shut the PC down. My new TV Tuner Card is a PCI-E x so I installed it in an open slot and move the Audigy to the PCI slot where the old TV Tuner Card was.
When I started my PC again, W7 detected the Audigy card and loaded the defeult drivers. I again tried to use the installer and had the same error.
The sound works, but I only have basic Windows functions/controls.
It is most definately not a hardware issue.
The online auto update detects it, just the installer does not detect it.
I am currently awaiting a response from CS now. Of course the problem there is that you have to wait/respond, wait/respond, wait/respond just to cover the same ground that has been gone over a hundrd times already.
I put every step I have done in the email. As usual, it was a waste to type because you are asked questions already answered and to preform steps already done.
It would be nice if CS would realize that some of us are only contacting CS because we have already done all the standard steps without success and now need to move onto the advanced ste

Ok, I got a vision m for christmas and everything worked fine. I stopped using it for?a couple of months and then my mom got a v plus. I wasn't getting the connection error with the MTP device stuff. Now I plug in my vision m and I am getting the same problem. This is starting to piss me off. I got my mom's to work on my old comp upstairs. But I will not allow mine to be linked to that computer. All my music is on this computer. I don't know what is going with the creative products, but creative you really need to figure it out.

I agree. I've had problems with my old player (Zen Micro) and my new one (Zen Vision: M) which are connection issues. Sometimes they connect, and others they don't.

Hello, I use Audigy 2ZS Notebook with Vista Ultimate x64. When I try to play 24-bit test signal Audigy card produces strange crackling sound. I installed Vista SP, switched from official driver 2.2.0002 to unofficial v2.5.0004EQ. Nothing has changed.Beware!!!!!: If audigy 2 doesn't support 24-bit, then over Creative products don't have it.

Maximum Resolution Options
In addition to setting your feature mode, you can also choose the maximum resolution of the content that you will normally be playing. This means that if you play music/audio of a higher resolution it will automatically be converted down to the selected resolution (lower quality music is left as-is). This frees up bandwidth and resources for other features that you may prefer.

• I want to sell creative products,

Hi,
I will be setting a shop soon, selling electronic products such as those in Sim Lim Square, and I wish to sell creative products too, therefore can someone here tell the procedures to get ceati've products at wholesale/retail price.
Thanks

Well, obviously the first things you will need to provide are your business licenses and appropriate documents showing your type of business (it'd be great for consumers to be buying Creative products at wholesale, and even funnier ((for us, not Creative)) if someone like 7-Eleven wanted to "sell" Creative products to its consumers). You could probably e-mail Creative. ;-)

• Never buying another Creative product again

To anyone at Creative who might be reading this,
I recently submitted the following question to Creative email support: "When do you plan on releasing updated drivers for the Audigy 2 line which will support Vista and be compatable with the Service Pack installation? (The lack of up to date drivers currently prohibitsupgrading to SP according to Microsoft) Thank you."
In return, I received the email below. As a long time supporter of your company, I'd like your team at Creative to know that this canned, non-reply pretty much guarantees that I will never buy another Creative product again. The notion that a simple email query can't be answered if it's more than a year after the purchase date is laughable. Especially when it's related to your company failing to keep up to date with the roll-out of one of the most common operating systems in the world.
Thank you for so clearly indicating the little regard with which you hold your customers.

Please suggest to us how you would resolve this problem with any of those resources? This is a known compatibility problem between Audigy series soundcards (amongst others) which can only be resolved with updated drivers which have not been written yet. It affects both recently purchased cards and older ones. In the future, I would suggest becoming more familiar with the problem before jumping in with comments (also reading the original post helps).

This is just a stupid question regarding Creative's sales methods.
The 8 gig Micro Photo has been in several of the stores near me including Best Buy, Circuit City, and CompUsa for close to 2 weeks, yet they do not show up on these companies websites and they are not displayed in the stores. They are hidden in cabinets.
The sleek is in Circuit City stores but it is not advertised on their site.
Is this normal practice with Creative products? To just ship them to stores to sit there?

Two issues here. If a company has limited stock of an item that is in great demand, they will not want to have display models but rather sell every single one they can as soon as possible. They also won't want to encourage customers to want a model they are sold out of and postpone a purchase rather than buy what is in stock now. The other issue is that even when supply is plentiful, many stores don't want to display many items due to space constraints, or that the display models are being contantly stolen or abused. Some stores have even resorted to getting non working displays of an item(usually the shell of the item without its electronics).

• Creative Product Registration Probl

I recently acquired a new sound blaster card and for the week I had it I experienced no problems. Soon after it gave me the "Gentle Reminder" to register my product. Like most people I quickly clicked the remind me in a week option. One week later I got the reminder, and having feeling bad about not registering I decided to quickly do it. The process was quick and everything seemed to work. Upon trying to close the registration program I was assaulted again by the "Gentle Reminder". I didn't think much at the time and it did the scan to find that there are NO UNREGISTERED PRODUCTS DETECTED. Hooray for me, huh? Well after seeing that I tried to close the program again to find it still insisted on me going through the registration process AGAIN.
Everything is registered and I'm not sure if I just didn't do something right.Message Edited by GarrettR on 08-08-2007:43 PM

I had this same problem with my wife's computer... Kinda weird actually. My computer and my wifes are the same...same sound card..same software..everything. I had no problem on mine. Anyways...the bloody registration 'gentle reminder'.. Here's how I fixed it. These directions are for Vista users, for Windows users I'm sure you can figure it out. just cut through program files. go to Start >> All programs >> Creative Folder >> Right Click on Creative Product Registration. Go to Open File Location. Delete all the files listed. for me 2 Files were unable to be deleted. As is the application starts, but then has to close because it has nothign to run on. That doesn't help though...So right click on the two files and "Cut" them. paste them onto yoru desktop. Now...You should have no files in there..No nasty "gentle Reminder". Then all you have to do is delete the two files from your desktop. And you should be good to go.. As said for non-Vista users I assume you just go through Program Files >> Creative >> find the Creative Product Registration. Good Luck, hope it works for you!

and yes, that is the correct link. I did three updates; Speedgrade 2014, Photoshop 2014 and After Effects 2014 - all manually. I downloaded the zip file to my laptop and transferred to my desktop computer with the Adobe subscription, unzipped, and installed updates. That method works for me.

• The curse of creative product registration and its inevitable invunarabil

:angry:Unhappy with Vista!Unhappy with creation! For the love of man, can someone tell me why my creative product registration continues to flourish? I have registered it,tried to delete it,but still it returns to my taskbar to mock my inability with computers. I get a brand new kick-ass transformers desktop and what pops up again but a "gentle reminder" to register! If this is gentle than I'd hate to see what forceful was! I have an MuVo v00 mp3 player and would be in anyone's debt eternally if they could save my computer's soul from the devil that is Creative! On the plus side my mp3 player works great.....

• Why I will never buy another Creative product ever again....

I just replaced my creative sound card with a brand new Asus. So far the Asus works perfectly, sounds great and was super easy to install. The first creative card I bought was deader than roadkill in 3 months. The second Creative card I bought(The one I just replaced) would intermittently stop working either in the middle of doing something like playing a game for no apparent reason or simply not work at all when you boot up the computer. No error messages, no indications of any kind. It would just go silent. I have a feeling that part of the reason this may have been happening is because the shape of the card was very weird and never fit in my case quite right so I had to almost force it to line up with the screw hole so that it wouldn't fall out of the PCI slot. Not the case with my new Asus card. I put it in the slot, everything lined up perfectly and took about 0 seconds to install.
<span style="white-space: pre;">Also, the Creative card was a 5. surround sound card and I bought Creative 5. surround sound speakers to go with it. The logical leap is that the two would work in conjunction with each other. However this was far from the case. I never got all the speakers working at the same time. Ever. Not once. This made 3 creative products in a row that sucked.
<span style="white-space: pre;">One bad product, well maybe somebody had a bad day at the factory. 2 bad products is pushing it. 3 bad products means there is a serious quality control and cheap parts problem in the company. Perhaps this is because I am buying their low end products. Maybe their 200? - 300$ range products are better. But after all this hassle and waste of money I sure as hell am not wanting to find out.
<span style="white-space: pre;">Next on the agenda: replace the crappy Creative speakers with something nicer. Sad really, the Sound Blaster used to be the Industry Standard. Now your cards are junk. After 6 months the metal on the card is literally rusting and corroding away. I have NEVER seen that happen on a computer peripheral before and I have bought a lot video cards, sound cards, etc... Goodbye Creative. That is the last dollar I spend on you.

Which component is broken? If it is only the hard drive it can be replaced, and someone here will be happy to help with that.
