Crystal JRC 2.0 Beta Issues

In early December 2008 I downloaded the latest Crystal JRC (crjava-runtime_12.2.0.zip) from the "Beta" website.  I am using the DHTML viewer with the ViewReport.jsp and the CrystalReportViewer.jsp JSP components to display my reports.  When the report viewer displays, the popups for both the export and the print are not functional.  I can dropdown the list of export choices, but cannot select a choice and when I try to print using the ActiveX print control, I get a "communication error" and it locks up.  I am currenly using an earlier JRC version that works fine with respect to the print and export popups.  However, I am trying to test the new Excel (Data only) export with the new 2.0 version and I am having  these issues.   I have 2 questions:
1. I tried to find if there was a new beta release available that may fix my isses but it seems the website has been completely redesigned and I can't find the old Beta website to download the JRC.  I found a link for Beta Programs but it is just informational and does not provide a download link.
2. Any ideas on what could be causing my viewer issues ?
Thanks,
Ken

Ted,
Yes, I discovered the same thing with the missed URL mapping, however it only solved the print issue.  The print works fine now, but the export dialog still acts strange.  When I click the export button, the list popup comes up behind the dialog, which acts like a focus issue.  Then when I move the dialog box off and expose the list, the list is not functional.  It acts like a disabled object and I can't select anything other than leave the default "Crystal Report" option.  When I click the export button from the dialog, it does export to Crystal Report successfully, so the export callback does work.  I think this is a JavaScript issue, but can't  be sure.  Interesting thing is, the export functionality worked in the previous beta release (12.0.0.r194) !
Thanks,
Ken

  • Crystal JRC PDF Export Issue

We are experiencing a PDF export issue with Crystal JRC version 12.2.202.  The PDF report shows 1 of 3 pages but ONLY the first page is generated.  When this occurs, ALL other users that are exporting to PDF experience the same issue with any multiple page report.  I can't find any errors in the log that would indicate what the problem is.  To resolve the issue, I have to recycle the WebLogic application server that hosts  the JRC, which would indicate something gets "locked" in memory and gets cleared when the app server is bounced.
Any ideas on how to resolve this ?

    Hi Ted,
    Thanks for the response!
Though, the mentioned Sun JVM Bug explains the root-cause, the Bug status also state that it is not fixed yet.
Also, we are reluctant to change the JVM Option to -Xint due to unknown impacts on JVM optimizations.
Is there a patch released for CrystalReports to deal with this behavior? We are using CRJ runtime 11.5.7.620 and seeking for a patch on this version.
    Thanks.

  • Crystal JRC 2.0 JDBC-OBDC Bridge Issue

I have been using the Crystal JRC version 2.0 since it was released.  I have deployed JRC 2.0 in a WebLogic server that currently uses version Java 1.5.0_12 and utilizes the JDBC 3.0 API.  We have been asked to upgrade the Weblogic Server to the newest version which uses Java 1.6.0_05.  This release of Java now supports the JDBC 4.0 API.  I have several reports that were developed using the ODBC driver, so when I deployed the JRC, I used the JDBC-ODBC driver and defined the datasource as follows in the web.xml:
      <env-entry>
        <env-entry-name>jdbc/DMPD</env-entry-name>
        <env-entry-value>!sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver!jdbc:odbc:mmpd;user=xx;password=xx</env-entry-value>
        <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
      </env-entry>
This worked fine with Java 1.5.0_12.  When I try to run the same reports with the Java 1.6.0_05 driver (sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver), I get the database login prompt and I can't get past this prompt.  Looks like something has changed with the JDBC 4.0 API, that is not backward compatible with the JDBC 3.0 API.
Any ideas on how to resolve this ?
Also, as a side note, with the JRC 2.0 upgrade, I can't get any error messages to be logged to the cr_jrc.log file which used to be defined in the log4j.properties file.  Has the logging interface changed with 2.0 ??
    Thanks,
    Ken

I am having similar problems.  Environment works perfectly in Windows.  All JARS and config files moved to AIX UNIX machine.  I get nothing more than a Crystal Reports 'Error' on the screen!!!
Any ideas since this was posted??

    Hi
    We will fix this.
The particular problem you noticed is one that we will be addressing with the RTM version of CR Viewer XI. We mentioned only Win XP was supported in the release notes âu20ACu0153For Technical Preview, the Crystal Reports Viewer XI is supported only on Windows XP in English.âu20AC
    Root Cause
The root cause is that GDI+ is not installed already on Windows 2000. We will be changing our install to add it. However, if you would like to continue to use CR Viewer XI Tech Preview (we hope you will) => You can download and install GDI+ yourself: If you google âu20ACu02DCGDI+ Windows 2000 Microsoftâu20AC(tm) youâu20AC(tm)ll see the links Many thanksCR Viewer XI Tech Preview/Beta Team Ps We will be sending a survey to beta participants at the end of the beta period, and we look forward to your feedback in that survey. In particular, would you be willing to read through the Tech Preview release notes and see if any of the known issues have a big impact on your potential use of CR Viewer XI = that feedback in the survey will be very important for us [the release notes are available at http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/3023 ]</span></font></p>

  • Crystal for VS 2010 - formatting issues in viewer (extra space) again

We're having the same problem as the one in this thread link:[Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space);. There's no resolution in the thread and it's been closed. I'm hoping that creating a new thread may cause someone to answer this problem.
We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned.

Re. the other thread. I never did receive a sample of the report to test with. Perhaps I can get one from you? I need you to ensure that the issue occurs with a "saved data" report. If it does, let me know if you can share it and I'll contact you via email. My comment in the other thread re. available time, priorities, etc., still applies. Also, just to be clear. Service Pack 2 for CRVS2010 is closed now. Thus if I am able to reproduce the issue the fix will be targeted for October \ November time frame - no guarantees though...

  • Crystal Reports 10 Enterprise Server Issue - Exporting Large Reports to PDF

Weu2019re implementing a Crystal Reports 10 Server for a customer but weu2019re having an issue with exporting large reports to PDF.  The report size that starts to show this issue is roughly 300 pages with 20 records per page.  We use the default Crystal ActiveX viewer.
Basically what happens is that the user will launch the report in the ActiveX viewer and the large report will take a while to load, as much as 3 to 4 minutes.  The user may then wish to export to PDF.  Once they attempt it with these large reports the viewer will basically hang and possibly be processing but will then time-out after roughly 5 minutes with this error:
    u201CProxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /thinqreports/THINQCrystalInterface.asp.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
    IBM_HTTP_Server/6.1.0.9 Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) Server at lmsproxy.aurora.org Port 443u201D
We believe this error is coming from a server on our network.  We have a proxy server between users and the Crystal Server that has a 5 minute time-out for connections.  What we want to know is:
    - Is there a way to speed up this export to PDF process?
    - Should the Crystal Viewer be keeping an http connection alive to the Crystal Report Server while its doing this export process?
    - If not, what port does Crystal Viewer use to communicate with the Crystal Report Server?
    - Is there something we can set in Crystal to keep an http connection open?
    - What is actually occurring during this export process?
Occasionally, we may get the above error when simply launching a report, not just attempting to export to PDF.  We presume that is because loading the report into the Crystal Viewer from the Crystal Report Server is taking longer than 5 min.
    Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks.
    Scott

    Scott,
As this is happening within Enteprise (and I am assuming the report does not time out in the Crystal Reports Designer) I would suggest posting this to the BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration
    forum.
My limited Enterprise knowledge would be to suggest scheduling the report as PDF but I don't know if that is a viable option for you.

  • Crystal Report viewing and Printing Issue

    Hi Experts
I use crystal Reports for PO,AR Invoice,Delivery and many other documents. It takes more than 5 mins to view layout from crystal report and print sequence printing takes more than 10mins.Please Help me to rectify this issue..

    Naresh Kumar

    Hi Naresh,
What is your SAP version and Patch Level ?
I believe in new version this issue has been addressed by SAP. Also note SAP B1 8.81 PL 07 has some issues in crystal Report, it asks for SQL user id and password, SAP is aware of this issue. So if you plan upgrade to latest PL then ensure that Crystal report issue is resolved, otherwise you will be in trouble.

  • Migrating from Crystal Reports 9 to 2008 Issue

    Hello,
We have quite a few reports in our product that were built of of tables in a database.  One report in question has fields from two tables. We used to load the report in VB6, and set the SQLQueryString property on the report equal to a select statement to select specific rows for the report.
We are trying to change these reports to use DataSets.  The idea is to populate a dataset with all the data the report needs, and set that as the data source.  No matter what I do, i cannot seem to get data to show up in the report.  I've tried creating a dataset with two tables, named identically to the tables we were using out of the database, and then filling the dataset with ALL the records from both tables.  Then I tried creating a dataset with one table, with columns from both tables, neither seem to work.
After creating the dataset, we are using the Set datasource location in Crystal, and updating it to use the Dataset we created.  I've verified the dataset has rows, and everything seems like it -should- work fine, but no data is populated.
I did notice that when changing the datasource location to the dataset, the Tables retained their old names with the name of the table in the dataset in parenthesis.  I thought about merging all the fields from both tables into just one table from the dataset, but could not find an easy way to do this without having to completely redesign the report.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Moved your post to the .NET SDK forum.
Ah, that will be a problem, CR no longer allows editing the SQL statement so those old reports are going to cause problems.
First also, you did not say but you can't use the RDC or OCX or CR 2008 in .NET 2010
Go to this page and download the CR for VS 2010 installer: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/crystalreports-dotnet
Bottom of the page: http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_13_0_1.exe gets CR installed into VS 2010.
Then you can use RAS which is the replacement for the OCX and RDC.
Then if you need .NET samples see this page to get you going:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/NETRASSDK+Samples#NETRASSDKSamples-Exporting%2FPrinting
A couple of ways to possibly fix those legacy reports.
    General over view is to:
    1. Rebuild your reports from scratch and use your XML files as the data source
    2. Rebuild your reports and use the DataSet as your report source ( BIG warning here, DS's are limited to the amount of data so better to use XML as the source )
    3. Hit the Database directly and use Record Selection API's to add your filters to the data
    4. Use database Command which allows you to enter SQL directly and edit it in code.
All methods are likely going to have problems due to you altering the SQL manually.
The replacement for edited SQL in legacy reports is to use a Command Object, you see this in the database wizard.
I have code that will convert a report based on 1 or 2 tables and convert it to a Command Object as the data source but this may not work for you depending on what the report started with.... More tables and it won't work.
Not going to suggest DS's as they will cause problem for the end user when they start using your app to archive the database.
For XML, use the below code to get your data into a DS and then save the DS as a XML file with the Schema.
Once connected to your data sources use this code to export/save the DS to XML format:
// this writes to the data and schema to a file
                ds.WriteXml("c:
    sc.xml", XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema);
// this sets the report data source to the DS or XML file
                rpt.SetDataSource(ds);
Once you have it save in XML format you can now create your reports of the XML file, Set Location likely won't work for you.
You can then not use DS's in your app and simply dump the database fields you are using into the XML. Once this is done simply updating the XML file will refresh the data in the report.
    For using Command Objects
You can get the SQL from your old reports and then set the SQL of your Command using RAS. I've never tried this with edited Legacy Reports but should work as long as you don't use or try to update the Legacy report in code.
Once you do manually re-create the legacy reports or possibly using the Table -> Command code you can then modify the SQL to follow your original report progression in your legacy app.
Let me know which route you want to go and I'll paste in the code to get you started...
    Thank you
    Don

  • Windows Server 2008 and Crystal Reports 8.5 printing issue

I am having a problem when using the crystal reports 8.5 report viewer ocx (ActiveX) under Windows Server 2008.
When logging onto the server through remote desktop, a report can be shown on screen in preview. When this report is printed, and the user requests more than one copy, the printer only ever prints one copy. Is this a configuration of the terminal server, or simply that the ocx control doesn't cater for it?
I am using the Windows Server 2008 "Terminal services Easy Print" drivers on the terminal server.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi Sastry
I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.

    Gurus,
I am in the process of reinstalling my SAP B-One(2007 A) Server, after SQL Server and SAP Server and Client installtions and its related patch PL10. My machine is fully loaded and to go, but I am stuck with Crystal Reports Basic 2008 installtion.
After installting the below for Crystal Reports:
    1) .NetPlatform SP1 setup (dotnetfx35sp1)
    3) Crytatl Runtime
    4) Crystal Setup
    5) Crystal SAP Viewer
    6) CR2008_SP3
My integration between SAP and CR are fine but after first log off and log on of SAP B-One.

installed. Upgrade the Add-on in the current Common DB."
    followed by the below one.
"Wrong Executable digital signature for Add-On".
Any advices on how can I upgrade the Common DB.

  • CS6 Beta issues

    On Win 7 x64:
I can no longer open anything from bridge or windows explorer into Photoshop CS5.  That is crazy that the beta takes over my editing preferreces automaticaly w/o asking.  How do I get them back?
Even though I have changed my scratch disk not to be my OS disk, I must run CS6 as administrator in order for it to run.  So if you open anything from CS6 bridge into CS6 PS, it has issues with file protection for the the scratch files and I cannot do anything.
Where is the little image view PCT drop  down box that is at the top of CS5 so that you can quickly set the image view to 100% or whatever?  Why doesn't my mouse scoll wheel change the image viewing percent like it does in CS5?  I cannot zoom in and out easily with CS6, this is a HUGE time slowdown.  The default darkness is not good.  I know that I can change that.  But for photo editing, who would ever want that as a default?  It should be a neutral gray.

I've got my scroll wheel working, so that is good!  But how do I get the image size quick dropdown to appear.  This is helpful for going to 100% easily.
    See attached.
As far as Bridge goes, if I "Run As Administrator", it will run.  If I do not, it bombs out right at startup.  But why?  I have the cache location pointing to a folder that any user can write to.  This is crazy that I have to run as admin to run the program.  Where is it trying write to that it does not have permission to?
Next, why does it take so much longer to open the same exact .psd file in CS6-beta as it does in CS5 (win7x64)?  It takes 107 seconds to up a 38MB file in CS6 after the program is started.  And I can get the same .psd file opened in CS5, including the time that it takes to start Photoshop, start my 3rd party apps such as all of my NIK programs, and open the file in like 11 seconds.  I have 400-1000 MB files that I often use as book pages which include smart objects.  I have not tried any of these large files yet.  But if a 37MB file takes 107 seconds to load, I can see the larger files being a real nightmare.

  • Delphi Crystal 10 vcl subreport link issue (on second run)

    Post Author: mkozma
    CA Forum: Other
I have a Delphi application (Delphi 7 using Crystal 10 VCL) that calls a subreport based on a link.
The report (and subreport) work fine for a particular id the first time but if I rerun the report a second time, the subreport does not appear.
If I change to another id the subreport works but if I rerun it for that id or the one that failed previously, it does not display.
The only way to get it to work is to close the application and restart it, then it works for the first time only.
I have tried adding the closejob and closeengine functions and verified that the parameter going to the subreport is correct without success.
I have the latest build of Crystal Reports 10 (10.0.5.1506).
If anyone has seen this before or can point me in the right direction to solving this issue, it would be much appreciated.
    Martin

Lindell - your response was very helpful.  I was able to create a SQL Command on the subreport and change the subreport links on the main report to use the paramters in the SQL Command.  The report is now very fast - even when there are lots of detail records on the main report.  It is properly executing the query and not reading all 2M records into memory for each subreport.
I'm still totally confused as to why Crystal was misbehaving so poorly and changing how the subreport queried the database when the only change was the fields used for record selection on the main report.  It really looks like a bug to me, but maybe someone can still enlighten me.
thanks again so much.  We are in Parallel testing for a production rollout - and the users are MUCH happier now!  (which of course makes me much happier!)
    Susan
PS I was not aware of the SQL Command - had never used it before.  Took me a little while to figure it out and how to do the linking - but it is very powerful.  Thanks again.

  • JSP, Crystal RAS access passing parameter issue

I am facing some issues with Crystal Report in RAS Server. The reports works fine, when i access the URL with parameters without hiphen('-'). But the same  throws an error  when i have an hiphen in the parameter value "The syntax of the value for prompt is facilityid incorrect. Please correct the syntax and try again"
    My URL is

The issue is with the parameter value for facilityid VS-1

Thank you Praveen. But, I have done it in a different way.

I passed the parameter values in double quotes and it is working fine. But now the problem is that the Crystal Report is not refreshing with the latest data. This is the case, even if i uncheck the "Save data with report".

I'm playing with FaceTime beta on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 4. I've managed to get logged in but can't get a call to actually connect. That may be an issue with the Corporate LAN I'm on right now. My real question is this....
How do I add contacts to my list in FaceTime beta? All I can see is Apple Canada and my own information. I don't use the native email client on the Mac as I'm a Gmail guy. Does FaceTime just add contact info as you receive incoming calls?
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Also, I hope this is the right forum for this issue. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated FaceTime section yet.
