Crystal Report Engine

We have an ASP .Net application developed using VS2008 and Crystal Report for .NET in VS2008. We display most of the reports in Crystal Report Viewer, we also print the report directly to a network printer using PrintToPrinter function.
We deployed the application on an W2003 server installed with Crystal Report Runtime and .Net Framework. The application is running smooth, except report printing. After user prints a few reports, they encounters errors like:
1. Error in File C:\Windows\Temp\....rpt: The request could not be submitter for background processing.
2. The Report Application Server failed.
From the server event viewer I can find an faulty event:
Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for {CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration.
Once the above errors occured we not able to print or preview ant reports. We have to restart the IIS Admin from Windows services.
Can anyone explain what's going wrong?

After days of troubleshooting, we found the error was caused by incompatible printer driver. We have tested on a few printers and the results are:
No.         Printer                  Print Drivers                      Remarks
1.            HP6L                      HP6L PCL6                           OK
2.            HP1200                 HP1200 PCL6                      OK
3.            HP1320                 HP1220 Series PCL             OK
4.            HP1320                 HP1320 PCL6                      Problem every 3 pages
5.            HP3005N              HP3005N PCL6                   Problem every 2 pages
6.            HP3800N              HP3800N PCL6                   OK
Hope this can help.

    I created several reports in ClearQuest v2003.6.15 using Crystal Reports v10. When a user tries to run these reports from his machine he gets the following error:"Problems executing ReportContact your ClearQuest administrator to verify that a supported version of Crystal Reports has been installed.Couldn't create Crystal Reports Engine for report format version 10.0"My version of CR is compatible with this version of CQ and he shouldn't need CR installed to run the reports so I'm not sure what the issue is?

    I have the same problem with ClearQuest 7.0.1.1, except the error contains 'version 11.0' instead of 10.0.This happened when I installed Crystal Reports XI Pro designer.  I followed the procedure to manually uninstall and re-install CR, which allowed me to to author report formats, but I still get this error when trying to view report in the ClearQuest for Windows client.  I tried to re-register all the CR viewer DLLs I could find, but still no luck.Any suggestions?  Thanks,Nate

  • Crystal Reports: How to change Oracle OLE DB server at runtime

    Post Author: dvlasman
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I'm using a rpt made with Crystal Reports 8.0.1 and VB 6. The report was made using the Microsoft OLE DB provider for Oracle. What I want to do is change to Oracle server / database the report is connecting to at run time before the report is displayed. I am using the Crystal Report Engine 8 Object Library (cpeaut32.dll), not the ocx.After creating the report object:Dim CrystalReport As CRPEAuto.ReportI open my report and discard saved data:'Open The ReportSet CrystalReport = CrystalApplication.OpenReport(msReportSource)CrystalReport.DiscardSavedDataConst sDBServer = "ORCL.SERVER" 'My TNS name for the Oracle ServerConst sDatabase = "ORCL.SERVER" 'I'm not sure what this value should beConst sUID = "system"Const sPwd = "manager"I was then going to change the database connection one of two ways:1:Dim objDatabaseTable As CRPEAuto.DatabaseTableFor Each objDatabaseTable In CrystalReport.Database.Tables    Call objDatabaseTable.SetLogOnInfo(sDBServer, sDATABASE, sUID, sPWD)    If (Not objDatabaseTable.TestConnectivity) Then        Debug.Print "Database failed connection: " & objDatabaseTable.Name    End IfNextSet objDatabaseTable = Nothing2:call crystalapplication.LogOnServer("pdsoledb.dll","MSDAORA.1",sDATABASE,sUID,sPWD)Neither of these two way gets me a successful connection. What am I doing wrong, and which is the preferred method to use?ThanksDean

    Did you get a resolution to your problem? I cannot dynamically change the datasource location in .NET using CR XI via OLE DB for Oracle. I get "This field name is not known." messages and when I try using the set datasource location in the designer tool, the mapping dialog box comes up with no fields in the right box. Thanks, Brian

  • Crystal report .dll files required on server.

    Hi.
    I'm new to Crystal Report and I have a "small" problem.
    I'm developing an windows app. that should be accesed from a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition.
    When I run my app. om the server and want to see a report created with Crystal Report, I'm told that Crystal Report runtime is not installed correct.
    I have tryied to instal both CRRuntime_12_0_mlb and CRRedist2008_x64. But I still get the errormessage.
    What am I doing wrong og missing.
    Which .dll files are required on the Server and in my app directory??
    When I run the app on my local machine the report works perfect.
    Regards
    Benn

    What is the version of the assembly crystal decisions.crystal reports. engine.dll referenced in your app? Also, remeber that only CR 10.2 and CR 10.5 (Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008) are 64 bit. All other versions of CR are 32 bit. • Exporting Crystal report to excel 2007 with an image

    Hi - I hope this is the correct forum for this question.
    We are using the Crystal report viewer and everything works just fine . When I go to export to excel (using office 2007) the images are not exporting, do you know if this is an excel 2007 problem or a Crystal issue?
    Thanks in advance
    DanPlo

    Hi;
    I still recommend installing the Service Pack. If the issue persists, and is contained to the version 8.5 reports, then yet, they will likely need to be converted to version 11.0 to work correctly. The Crystal Reports engine was completely re-written in version 9.0, so moving from 8.5 can cause some issues.
    If you try exporting one of the 8.5 reports from the verison 11.0 Designer, do you have the issue?

  • Employee photo is causing one of our crystal reports to crash

    Good Afternoon,
    I'm currently using Crystal report engine version 9.2.3.884 as part of a Peoplesoft package.
    I have created a new report using the PeopleSoft crystal ODBC driver delivered within the package.
    One of the field retrieved contains the employee photo defined in Oracle DB as a BLOB field.
    When I drag and drop the employee photo into the report, it crashes the application.
    I've first checked if the photo was corrupted using JPEGsnoop.exe. The photo used is not corrupted.
    After running a couple of tests I have found a workaround.
    Take a print screen of the employee photo using snag it tool, copy it into MSPaint, save the photo with the same name, load the new version into oracle and drag the photo into my crystal report.
    This new picture didn't crash the application.
    In order to make sure that the issue was not due to the PeopleSoft ODBC driver, I ran the same test using the Oracle ODBC driver. It returned the same result.
    I would like to understand why the original picture is causing my crystal report to crash.
    Is there any existing fix related to this issue? Otherwise I would like to know how to report this issue to crystal report developers?
    If you want some more detailed information (the employee photo I'm using) please let me know.
    Thanks in advance for your support,
    Best Regards.

    Hi Sean,
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    That's right it could be related to memory usage. I have already got this issue before, but the message is different. When I'm running my crashing test, I'm dealing with one photo only (6 Ko JPG format).
    When I take a print screen of the photo causing my crystal report to crash, save it as the same format JPG using MS Paint, load it into oracle blob table and re-run the report using the new photo it works perfectly fine.
    Prior to this I made sure that the photo was not corrupted using JPEGsnoop.exe.
    If you want to I can give you the two JPG samples I'm using and a detailed explanation of the manipulation I'm doing.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards.

  • Crystal Reports localization issue

    Hi,
    I am using Crystal Reports for .NET version 2005. Also, I am utilizing SQL Server 2005 as my database server. The problem is when I deploy applications in Spanish countries (maybe others, but did not try yet). The problem happens when dates are passed to SQL Server 2005, but only through Crystal Report engine.
    I guess the question is if there is special need to localize crystal report setup?

                        ParameterDiscreteValue discreteValue1 = new ParameterDiscreteValue();
                        discreteValue1.Value = dlg.MachineID; <- this has type String
                        report.ParameterFields["@machine_id"].CurrentValues.Add(discreteValue1);
                        report.DataDefinition.ParameterFields["@machine_id"].ApplyCurrentValues(report.ParameterFields["@machine_id"].CurrentValues);
                        ParameterDiscreteValue discreteValue2 = new ParameterDiscreteValue();
                        discreteValue2.Value = dlg.StartDate; <- this has type DateTime
                        report.ParameterFields["@start_date"].CurrentValues.Add(discreteValue2);
                        report.DataDefinition.ParameterFields["@start_date"].ApplyCurrentValues(report.ParameterFields["@start_date"].CurrentValues);
                        ParameterDiscreteValue discreteValue3 = new ParameterDiscreteValue();
                        discreteValue3.Value = dlg.EndDate; // <- this has type DateTime
                        report.ParameterFields["@end_date"].CurrentValues.Add(discreteValue3);
                        report.DataDefinition.ParameterFields["@end_date"].ApplyCurrentValues(report.ParameterFields["@end_date"].CurrentValues);
                        MainReportViewer.ReportSource = report;
    The issue is that it works fine in US, but not in Chile ... Everything else works though (passing string, int, etc.)
    Thanks in advance!

  • Crystal Reports for Eclipse - Builds wrong query for Ingres

    An Ingres user tries to use Crystal Reports for Eclipse with Ingres database. I am attaching here-with the related Ingres forum posting (  http://community.ingres.com/forum/database-drivers-apis/2567-jdbc-crystal-reports-eclipse.html ). Based on further research it appears that the crystal reports engine generates a wrong SQL query for Ingres when the table fields are dragged and dropped from the Field Explorer view to a newly created crystal report. Examining the contents of the table from the Data Explorer view seems to work just fine. Any thoughts/pointers on this issue is greatly appreciated.

  • Crystal Reports version 13 managed api's run slower than native version 11

    Hello,
    I am a senior engineer, working in a project of porting client code written in C++ using Crystal 11. It uses the native COM api like shown approximately in the following code fragment:-
    IApplicationPtr pApplication;
    pApplication.CreateInstance("CrystalRuntime.Application.11");
    pReport = pApplication->OpenReport("myreportfile.rpt", vtOpenMethod);
    ... code to setup Export Options, setLogonInfo on database, set parameters for report etc.
    pReport->Export(false);
    This code is launched in few threads, and works nicely, and a very stable used code in real world.
    We have ported this to Crystal 13 .NET api's and our code approximately looks like
    ReportDocument document = new ReportDocument();
    document.Load("myreportfile.rpt", OpenReportByTempCopy);
    .. set diskfile format options, pdf format options, paramters, logon info etc. very very similar to the native C++ code, almost matching 1 by 1 line
    document.Export();
    document.Close();
    No problem so far, and it works fine. This is also launched in multiple threads same in number like native, and works fine. We get the same pdf file generated.
    But here is the problem. In native we are getting easily around 2000 reports in 20 mins. But in managed we are taking 35 mins for the same set of reports. The output looks fine and same etc. But there is a good 40-50% performance regression, and we have tried so many things, but never able to beat this 40-50% perf degradation.
    Can you please help ? A few questions. First are we executing document.Export really concurrently ? Is there any waiting or serialization going on insider Crystal api's. Is this Crystal 13 managed api, a thin stub layer just passing on to native COM apartment threaded dll. Can this layer introduce such a delay ?
    A few things we have tried and haven't succeeded for summary:-
    1. Opened 1 dummy report in the beginning and kept opened throught, to flush any ref counted inits
    2. Didn't perform Close immediately, but had another thread chew on it and Close delayed
    3. Reduced the thread to 1, (in native as well), again our perf degradation is comparable.
    4. Optimized the reports from various suggestion in this forum. Did better, but so did the native, and still we are comparatively poorer.
    Thanks for the same, Eager to supply more info if required.

    First I'd like you to have a look at the document SAP Crystal Reports Engine in a Multi-Threaded Visual Studio Application. Next make sure you are using SP 10 for CRVS.
    Next, you will have to tell me what database you are using, connection type and if MS SQL, what client?
    BTW.; these being community forums, you may get an answer, you may not. It may be timely, or not. If you are looking for a faster response, there is the option of creating a phone incident here:

  • Design Crystal Report in VS2012

    Hello Everybody..!!!
    I need your help.. i want to provide resume printing facility in my web application using crystal report..
    so how can i design crystal report in resume format???
    I saw many example but it only shows output in table format but i want to print resume.. wait for your suggestions..
    Thanks in advance.. !!!

    Designing a crytal report in your case is a quite easy, since no complex functionality exist, it's just and a drag and drop + styling work. To  start (I'm supposing that you already have Crystal Report engine installed) check this beginnger tutorial
    to add the data source:
    http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/Crystal_Reports_Net_Ch01_1.asp
    The second thing is to understand the section of Crystal Report (Header, footer...) in order to know which sections you need and where to put every resume content, I'm seeing that most of the content will fall into Details section, but that is for you to
    decide. Here is a reference for this task:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms314197(v=vs.71).aspx
    the final step is the format and it will be quite similar to what you've seen in office applications, and here a basic format tutorial also:
    http://oakdome.com/programming/CR_BasicReportFormatting.php
    Hope this help.

  • Crystal Report 2008 Limitation

    Hi,
    We are using Crystal Report 2008 SP2(Crystal Report Ver 12.0) for Dot Net 2.0 framework in our production box to generate reports and printing. This is how its working
    1) Multiple dot net Windows Services are running in a Windows Server. Each windows sevice are capable of running 5 cuncurrent threads. Each thread can load a Crystal Report Object to generate report and print
    2) We are facing a serious delay in report processing. After reading through couple of articles in internet, we came to know that Embedded Crystal Report engine has a limitation of processing two concurrent reports at a time.
    3) We like to know, whether these two concurrent processing is for the entire server or  a specific windows service process
    E.g. - assuming we have five windows service running in our server, in this case, whether our application server is capable of processing 10 Crystal Reports at a time or only 2?
    Please advice us. We are waiting for the reply to decide to go ahead with Embedded Version or to buy a Crystal Report Server / Enterprise Edition.

  • Crystal reports light

    Any idea on what would be included in this version?
    There should be enough to output to XCelcius+ I hope.
    Would there be a migration path from Crystal to crystal light?  I would like to get off the "premium" version that will require additional licensing fees.
    thx

    Hi Tracey,
    Are you wanting to take advantage of Crystal Xcelcius in your Crystal reports (something that you can leverage in the 2008 version of Crystal Reports).  The light version of Crystal Reports is not due for a while and will have reduced functionality.  In similar ways that Crystal Reports for Eclipse and Crystal Reports for Visual Studio are lighter version of the Crystal reports engines and limited designer experiences compared to the full Designer.
    If you have some details in terms how you are using the product, or how you would like to use it, i would be more then happy to share some insight with you.
