VS2010 Crystal Report Crashes System when using 'Set DataSource Location..'

Runtime ASP.NET 3.5
VS 2010
Under Database Fields (rt click) try Set DataSource Location... causes VS2010 to crash.
This is on an imported report from VS2008.  VS2008 has no problem with the report.
Since this is a ASP.NET 3.5 program the internal property field
<ResGenToolArchitecture>Managed32Bit</ResGenToolArchitecture>
has been set in the project in order to allow the code to compile w/out errors.
What is solution for Crystal Report Set DataSource Location?

Hi Ken,
Here's one link on the issue: CRVS2010 RTM: Database Expert / External Component has thrown an exception
The reason is Old OS's used c:\temp as the default, now you are require to use %user%\temp as your temp folder as well as using the AppData folder for your app. If CR finds c:\temp it uses it and depending on what is in there it can cause Cr to crash, XML files have been know to do this.
Following MS's new rules on users temp folder should make your app Windows Compliant.
Thanks again
Don

  • Crystal Report not visible when using IE9

    Hello,
I have a report that has been displaying fine in IE8 for me, but when I upgraded to IE9, the report stopped displaying.  This problem seems to only occur if the report has more than 5 columns of data in it.   If it has 5 or less columns, everything displays correctly.  If it has 6 or more columns, a blank page loads.  I've noticed that if I try to print the blank page,  it will print correctly(all columns will display).
So far, the only solution I've found is by going into compatibility mode in my IE9.    Is there a way to fix this so that compatibiltiy mode is not required to view the report in IE9?  This report is going to be used by client's and I have no way of stopping them from upgrading their browser.
Also, I have read that Crystal Reports does not support IE9.  Does anybody know when they will support it?
I'm using Crystal Reports version 14.0.2.364 RTM to create the report.
The version of Crystal Reports on my aspx page is  13.0.2000.0
    Thank You.

  • Crystal Reports Publication fails when using dynamic recipients

    Hi experts,
We are facing a problem related with the BOE 3.1 Dynamic recipients Publication.
We have created a Publication with just one Crystal Report based on a MDX Query.  We send the report in PDF format to email destinations
Dynamic recipients are defined in a WebI report pulling data from a BW query universe. We can display the email, user ID, Use Name and other fields we would like to use as dynamic parameters.
Server side trust seems to be configured (is there any way to test it is properly configured?).
The Publication is working fine with enterprise recipients (which have SAP BW account), and each recipient receive its PDF by email.
When we execute same report with dynamic recipients without selecting dynamic personalization parameters it is working fine. But when we select one dynamic parameter (which is coming from the WebI report we use for dynamic recipients) eg: Profit Centre, the Publication fails and we get a Database Connector error:
    2011-02-14 08:53:25,275 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-13] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_31036 - [Publication ID # 31036] - Scheduling document job "P&L" (ID: 31,051) failed: Error in File ~tmp191067bfa343ff0.rpt: Database Connector Error (FBE60502) [1 recipients processed.]
How can a dynamic parameter affect on the Database Connection?
Does anyone have an idea about what could be wrong?
    Thanks!

Ino, what do you mean for "technical name or the member unique name"? Are you talking about the SAP User name? So in the dynamic recipients we can find  these parameters:
    - Recipient Identifier (required):
    - Full Name:
    - Email:
In the Recipient Identifier I should refer to a SAP user?
Dynamic recipients option is working for same recipients. The problem appears when I assign one parameter to a field coming from the dynamic webi report. It fails with the previously detailed error. This parameter assignment seems to be causing the Database Connector error.

  • Logout crashes system when using fglrx [SOLVED]

    Hi guys,
I admit I'm a little annoyed about X related issues with Arch on my thinkpad T400, none of choice is working totally fine on it now. It has ATI HD3470 discrete card and Intel X4500 integrated card, I've tried all available dirvers: xf86-video-ati, xf86-video-radeonhd, catalyst(fglrx) and xf86-video-intel. Here are problem descriptions:
    1, Intel X4500 + xf86-video-intel
This scheme is the best working choice at present. Everything is fine, except cannot pass 3D acceleration test in Cedega. glxinfo shows direct rendering is "yes", and openGL direct rendering test in Cedega is passed. With 3D acceleration test failed, I cannot run any games in it. Glxgears shows 420FPS with Intel X4500
    2, ATI HD3470 + xf86-video-ati / xf86-video-radeonhd
Annoying! I'm not sure how well the open source driver support my card, surely they are working, but only provide very basically performance. 3D acceleration test in Cedega cannot pass either, while direct rendering is "yes" in glxinfo too! Besides this, the really annoying thing is laptop FAN is keep running with these two drivers, even CPU occupation is ZERO. Glxgears shows 370FPS with radeon or radeonhd.
    3, ATI HD3470 + catalyst
This scheme provides best performance, that 3D acceleration test in Cedega can pass, and the game plays smoothly. However, this driver has a frustrated problem: It works fine when first boot up, but if I logout, then X would crash to a black screen, and both keyboard and mouse lost response. Only press power button for 3 seconds to hardly shutdown can leave the mess. More details can refer to: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=62413
    Glxgears shows 1200FPS with fglrx.
I guess a comparison is suitable here, with fglrx+ubuntu installed on this laptop, Glxgears shows 3200FPS, and it works totally fine without logging out to black screen problem either. I'm a newbie switched from Ubuntu to Arch, I love the Arch way. But I have to say, I DO NOT like the Arch's X way.
Hope someone who has the same hardware or even the same laptop can help me. Though I don't like to configure X, I like the feeling manually solve problems. Any advice or suggestion or even criticism will be highly appreciated. My xorg.conf are attached in pastebin:

I reinstalled catalyst and now using fglrx driver. I reproduced the problem and paste X server log here, I hope anyone have or had this problem would come on to solve this, seems this problems is old, common and nasty all together.

    Fatal server error:
    Caught signal 4.  Server aborting
    Reproduce problem as follows:
1, Install fglrx as driver for ATI 3470 on LAPTOP
2, Boot up and login gnome will succeed every time.
    3, Logout:
    3.1 If using GDM
Logout then it goes into a black screen, both keyboard and mouse lost response, only hard shutdown helps.
    3.2 If on runlevel 3
Logout succeeds, will back into user console. Log into normal users in other consoles succeeds. If now run startx, it will generate above quoted error: "Fatal Server Error: Caught signal 4". After this, commands such as su, ps, sudo, or as root log into other consoles will cause Segment Fault, or even Kernel panic. As these situations happen, only hard shutdown helps.
I've also tried these workarounds found with google or in other forums:
1, Edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf to set X server always restart value equal 1.
Does not help. Actually, this problem might not caused by gdm, because I boot into runlevel 3 would also have this problem.
2, Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to add "nopat" option into kernel line
Does not help, the problem remains.
3, Build catalyst 8.11 with ABS
Does not help, with catalyst-8.11 X will boot into black screen for the first time too. I'm not sure if I build it correctly, it has a 2.6.27.patch in abs, but I'm using 2.6.28 kernel.
4, Use D-sub instead of DVI
I'm on LAPTOP, don't have a choice to change to D-sub connector, so I don't know if this help.
5, Remove .Xauthority file or edit /etc/ati/authatieventsd.sh file as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy … bug/118605 suggests
Does not help either, It might not be X authority's problem. But I'm not quite sure.
Alright, I hope these details have made myself clear, because of my poor English. Hope you guys help, thanks in advance!

  • Fiscal week offset in crystal report record selection when using BW

    Hello:
I have a report that is based on BEX Query.
The data model has 52 weeks (fiscal week) worth of information.
I would like to limit the results sets to pull back the last 12 fiscal weeks.
Is there a way to setup in crystal record selection and "OFFSET" to evaluate on execution time?
    CR2008 SP3
    BOE XI 3.1 SP3
    SAP IK 3.1 Sp3
    BW 7.0

    Hi Dwayne,
that is something that can be done as part of the BEx query using EXIT variables.

  • Set datasource location command at runtime

CA Forum: Semantic Layer and Data Connectivity
    Dear Folks,
I have crystal report 10 and MS access, I need to change my datasource location at runtime without having to type code other than crystal report like VB or C++, Do crystal report have this possibility to change datasource location at runtime without needing to code other than crystal report ???
Basicly I have multiple MS access database files and need one Crystal report to read from all of them at the same time, how can I do that without coding in a language other than crystal report.
    Best Regards

Get a copy of BO Server and use a Business View.   Don't know of any way in Crystal Reports  itself.  BO Server is good but it ain't cheap.  Depends on how many users you have and what sort of budget you have.  I'm using it here and it has a lot of benefits. Alternatively build a data warehouse just for reporting using a proper DB engine and get a single report off that.  Use something like MySQL - fast, and above all - free!   If you don't need bang-up-to-the-second reports then run a scheduled data extraction and upload over night, load the data into the new warehouse and then run your reports against it.  I'm in the process of doing just that.  Read Ralph Kimball's books "The Data Warehouse Toolkit" and "The Data Warehouse ETL Toolkit" to get the idea.  The MySQL forum has a good Data Warehouse section.  A warehouse also gives you many advantages in that your production databases are not too heavily loaded, all your data conforms to set standards (eg data formats are all the same) and you have a historical record that can build over the years to many GB of data - I think Access will struggle with that ;0) - to name but a few.  Hope this helps.  BTW - thought of this last night - MySQL also has the Federated engine - so you could hook all your databases into it and query it with Crystal as though they were a single database.  Not sure if it'll connect to Access though.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - ERROR when changing datasource

Hi, I have a report that is connected to a test database that needs to have the datasource changed to the production database.
The Crystal Report has 2 "on-demand" subreports that the datasource has been changed for as well.
SQL 2000 Databases on 2 different servers (W2003) used the "Set Datasource Location" and followed steps listed previously in the forum.
Databases have different names but all tables are same in both.
Database Expert is showing all tables coming from new datasource BUT when report is run parameter prompt comes up, click ok
Error message - "Failed to retrieve data from the database" - click OK
Error message - "Invalid Argument provided"
Does anyone have an ideas on how to track down the issues.
Please let me know if you need any other information

    Ok answers below:-
    1. Crystal Reports 2008 Cersion 12.1.0.892
    2. Connecting via OLEDB
    3. Yes able to refresh newly created report without sub reports enclosed
    4. Didn't know that this could be done - this report was done for us by a consultant who doesn't know how to fix this issue and reckons there is a bug in Crystal
    5. Sub reports are accessed after main report is run (I think that means that they are linked)
    6. Not sure how to do this as am newbie to Crystal Reports and we are relying on the person that we contracted to write the reports to know what he is doing.
Any help appreciated I will try to go into the sub report and unlink - think I have found out how to do this.
Thanks for the help so far!!

  • Crystal Reports with BEx Query using Custom Exit Variable

    Hi,
We have BW BEx Query using Customer User Exit variable to derive  the Fiscal Week for Last Year (called it VAR2) based on another user input variable Current Fiscal Week (called it VAR1).
VAR2 is derived from VAR1 in CMOD via some codings and thus it DOES NOT have the "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx. VAR1 is user input variable, so it has "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx.
When we create a Crystal Reports with the BEx Query using variable VAR2, and when we run it we got an error message saying "Failed to execute query; '[]<java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: No Selection State Support!ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK>'. Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem".  (note: ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK is VAR2 in this case).
Could anyone please assist? Surely, CR supports BEx customer user exit variables like the above, right?. I also refer to the forum below as it seems to have a similar issue (except mine with an error message), but it does not provide a solution in it.

    Hi Vibhav,
We have the SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI4.0 Version 14.0.0. Not sure if SP0 or other SP, got to check with Basis Team later.
We tried that "mandatory" option and did not work either.
Anyway, SAP has now come back again saying it is something they will fix it in next release/version. We got a phone call from them and a reply below to our OSS.
23.08.2011 - 08:20:49 CET - Info for Customer by SAP
I have raised this issue on the Idea#s Place as an enhancement request
    on the below link:
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/ideas/5586
This ER contains the information of including the customer exit
variables in the report without checking the #input for ready# option.
This ER can be considered for being implemented in the future

  • Getting Compilation error when used SET or MULTISET operator on nested tabl

    Dear All,
I am getting Compilation error when used SET or MULTISET operator on nested tables inside a procedure.
This is working fine in other DB installations of 10g but does not work in another 10g DB.
it says "wrong number of parameter or datatype used in SET"
Can any one suggest what went wrong here?
    Thanks in advance.

Can any one suggest what went wrong here?Only if you would post the query and Oracle versions on both databases.
Besides, this forum deals with issues in Oracle product installation. So post this query in SQL PL/SQL forum for better response.

    Hi,
    Thanks for ur reply...
Since MULTISET and SET operators are the new additions in base 10g release for manipulation of nested tables data, I am surprised that same is working in similar 5 DBs installations with 10.2.0.1.0 version, but does not work in the sixth.
SET and MULTISET operators are used inside the PL/SQL procedure which is getting compiled in the above mentioned 5 DBs but not in sixth DB.
    it gives
    On line: 3112
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'SET'
    Hope this clarifies the issue...

  • Set Datasource Location - Crystal XI to Access 2007 DB

    Hi all,
Is it possible to Set Datasource location for a Crystal XI report to an Access 2007 DB?  I have reviewed the postings and can not find an answer.
Edited by: Karen Arena on Jun 23, 2009 3:24 PM - I have resolved this on my own, it is possible, see library documentation.

    Resolved through documentation in Library.

  • Set Datasource Location does nothing???

    I dont get it...
I have reports that are fed by SQL Server stored procedures.  Every now and then the developers will change some minor thing in one of the procedures (maybe a Group by or Order by change) and then rename the stored procedure.  So for example....
USP_RPT_MYREPORT gets a minor update and gets renamed to USP_RPT_MYNEWREPORT...
(I am over-simplifying, but you get the idea...)
I go into Crystal Reports in Visual Studio and select the "Set Datasource Location" choice off the menu.  There, right on the darn screen that comes up it says "highlight the new datasource and click the Update button"...  I do that, and absolutely NOTHING happens, NOTHING changes, NOTHING gets updated.  I've done this about 20 times and now and every time, same thing - NOTHING happens.
But if I go into the Database Expert, highlight my existing stored proc, and then hit "F2" to rename the alias, and set it to the new stored proc name - BING!!!  Everything works just fine.
I looked in the Crystal documentation but of course, nothing there to illuminate whats going on with this seemingly useless "Set Datasource" selection...  So...
What is this for?  What is it all about?  ...and why doesnt it work?
Any help would be appreciated and sorry in advance for being frustrated - I work in Crystal...

Thanks for the response and the attemp to help, but this cannot be quite correct - at least it does not seem so.  How do I know this?....
Well, I have 2 stored procedures that are almost exactly alike - the only difference is the ORDER BY clause in the SQL itself (so this should have NO effect on Crystal)...
I use the Set Datasource selection and yes, you are right, it DOES NOT change the name from my old Stored Procedure to the new one.  But if you are suggesting that it DID actually change where its pointing I dont believe you are correct because of this...
The report itself has 3 Groups - these group headers are "tied" to the first stored procedure and even though I change the datasource (supposedly), these groups DO NOT change and thus when I run the report I get an error stating that the "Groupings do not exist"...
In other words lets say the first stored procedure is called "SP1" and I am changing to a virtually identical stored procedure called "SP2".  Sure enough, when I use Set Datasource, the name DOES NOT change - it still says SP1...  But when I run the report the Grouping dies because nothing changed it to "SP2".  In fact, the Groups now say "???"
What is particularly odd and frustrating about this (and also the sign of a very poorly QA'd product) is that if I go into the Database Expert and simply press "F2" and change the alias from SP1 to SP2, that seems to do the very thing that Set Datasource seems entirely unable, undesigned and unwilling to do.
Bear in mind here that I have worked with Crystal for 3 very painful years and when any fields (columns) change in the backend SQL, I understand that it takes hours to rework the entire report - its stupid, it shouldnt take that long, but I have just accepted it with this klunky product - but when NO fields change it seems to me that should be very easy to manage and yet the only way I have found to do it is to try Set Datasource, watch it fail again and again and then use the Database Expert (and the F2 key in there) to rename the alias.
In all the Crystal documentation I have (downloaded, and came with product) there is not one line I can find that talks about what Set Datasource is supposed to do, and should be doing.
Anything that would make my life easier with this sometimes beastly product would be most appreciated.

  • Crystal crashes when trying to "Set Datasource Location"

    Hi,
My client's Crystal app (version 9) crashes when she attempts to remap a report using the "Set datsource Location". Basically, as soon as she selects it, she gets a msg ..something like "CRw32.exe error" and the app bombs.
Any ideas on what may cause this folks ??
    thx a lot,
    Steve

Open the report up and Click on Database, Set Location, find ODBC in the list and connect using your DSN. Now select your DB and tables, varies so you may have just click on the OLE DB connection and the n DSN and click Update button or you may have to do this for each table also.

  • Crystal reports not working when integrated security is set to true

    Hello Everybody,
I have developed 20 crystal reports. When i deploy in my development environment(asp.net) these reports are working fine.My UAT environment is using application pool connection instead of database connection.
My .net developer has written a code and he set integrated security to true for reports. My problem is reports which are having parameters not working correctly. Reports which are not having any parameters, it is working fine. If i enter parameters in asp .net page, the report is running for all the values. It is not considering the parameter values.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
Need more info, what version of CR assemblies, which OS is hosting the app and what patches, CR and OS are installed?
Have you discussed this issue with your developer? Possibly all of the runtime is not on the app server?
    Thank you
    Don

  • Crystal Report Crash using BW query

    Hi All,
Crystal Reports are created with SAP BW query
CR application gets opened without any problem.
When the report is opened the prompts are displayed correctly.
When the values are entered to parameters and report is run the Runtime error is flashed , when clicked on OK another error appears saying "CRW32.exe has encountered an problem and needs to be closed" which terminates the application.
This problem happens occasionally and nothing specifically can be said when it happens.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Sheeba

    Hello Sheeba,
You can attempt to enable tracing on the driver used to access the data.  This can be done in the registry on your CRW machine under the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\SAP
You have to choose whether to enable tracing on the BW query driver vs. BW MDX Query driver sub-key under SAP based on how you connect in Crystal Reports.
Also you must add a string value in SAP key called TraceDir and define the folder where the trace file will reside.
