Crystal Reports XI R2 (11.5.8.826) crashes when modifying charts

I'm a very experienced Crystal Report designer.  I'm working on a chart that is pulling in and summing a large number of records (380,000 +).  As I have been working at attempting to make modifications to the chart, the program is crashing.  A few examples of items that I've been working on modifying include font size for the x and y axis, scale for the axis, and other items of this type.
I've even attempted to dump the data and then make the changes in design mode.  At times, it won't even display the menu I need in order to make modifications.  I'll save the report often, but when I close the application altogether, it is often crashing.  I've done thousands of reports of varying complexity, including many charts, but have never experienced this.
Any help?
Thanks!

I agree with Debi also, likely a resource issue. Try closing all other programs to see if you get a little further along.
Only other option is to change your data source to use a Store Procedure and do all of the filtering and summing Server side and take the load off of CR to do all of this. client side... Servers are much more efficient at collecting Data than CR will ever be, that's what they do best.
Thank you
Don

  • Crystal Reports Causes Application to Hang in crpe32.dll When Viewing Report

    All,
    We have a C# Winform Application that uses Crystal Reports 13.0.9.  In production, our application is intermittently hanging. The crash dump analysis indicates that a Crystal Reports assembly is causing blocked threads (i.e. deadlock).  The results of crash dump analysis from two different workstations and diagnostic information about one of the affected machines is included below.
    When this error occurs, the users are simply trying to view the report.  The database is SQL Server 2012 Express but, the report does not pull data from the database.  Rather, data is pushed to the report via DataSet and Adapter.  The Crystal Runtime is physically installed on the machine (i.e. they are not using a report server).  Unfortunately, our QA and development teams are unable to reproduce this issue in their respective environments.  We have many other users of this application and version of Crystal Reports.  And, this seems to be the only isolated case where the application hangs on the Crystal DLLs.
    Can someone please provide advice and/or feedback on how to interpret and/or further analyze the information in the dump analysis for troubleshooting purposes.  I apologize for putting the dump analysis and diagnostic information in a code block but, it was the only way I could post the information without errors.

    Hi Aaaron
    This will be one of those; "works here, not there, what's the diff?". E.g.;
    OS?
    Load?
    Runtime - CR, DB clinet, VC++ and other.
    Printer drivers(?)
    If this is a 32 bit app, use the Modules utility to compare the runtime on a working computer and one that does not work. When doing the comparisons, look at the CR runtime, the db runtime, the VC++ runtime and any other runtime differences.
    Since you are using MS SQL 2012, ensure that the SQL Native 11 client is installed.
    Re. printer drivers, check to see that you are using the latest updates for what ever printer is default or used by the reports. Also, make sure the printer driver is designed for the OS.
    Oh. One more thing. You can attach files here; just click on the "Use advanced editor" link. You will have to rename the file to .txt, then attach. Just sayin - that way you don't have to copy paste

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Version 12.2.6.567 Crashes with APPCRASH , opensql.dll

    Hello everyone,
    I have download and installed a trial license of BOBJ 3.1, i have installed an SAP INT Kit and have been trying to convert some sample CR from the SAP servers " iwdfvm..." to a local SAP Server on the network. I receive this error in crystal reports when i try to update the data source
    Problem Event Name:     APPCRASH
      Application Name:     crw32.exe
      Application Version:     12.2.6.567
      Application Timestamp:     4ba3856d
      Fault Module Name:     crdb_opensql.dll
      Fault Module Version:     12.1.0.890
      Fault Module Timestamp:     48db6ad0
      Exception Code:     c0000005
      Exception Offset:     000aea07
      OS Version:     6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1
      Locale ID:     1033
    Please help me understand why i can not change any of the datasources. The funny thing is this error has popped up in every version of CR and there are still no fixes that i have seen in 2008.

    Hello everyone I have downgraded to the SP1 version of Crystal Reports 2008 seems to have fixed the problem.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

    I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
    I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
    Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
    If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
    Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

    Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
    If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
    Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

  • Crystal report on VB 6 prompting for Login even when logged on to SQL Server.

    Hi,
    I am migrating crystal report 8.5 to 11 in VB 6. I have used the following code.
    Components Used: Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0
    References Used: Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0 & Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Design and Runtime Library 11.5
    Dim app As New CRAXDDRT.Application
    Dim rpt As New CRAXDDRT.Report
    Set rpt = app.OpenReport("C:\creditrisk.rpt")
    rpt.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue (Now)
    rpt.ParameterFields(2).AddCurrentValue (Now)
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.ReportSource = rpt
    rpt.Database.LogOnServer "p2sodbc.dll", "AURORA_DB", "DATABASEMAIN", "userId", "xxxxxxxx"
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.EnableInteractiveParameterPrompting = False
    Me.Left = 0
    Me.Top = 0
    Me.Height = Screen.Height
    Me.Width = Screen.Width
    Me.WindowState = vbMaximized
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.ViewReport
    I am using the existing reports that has been designed to use ODBC connection DSN Name AURORA_DB. Even though i supply the logon credentials crystal reports still prompts the logon dialog box.
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Issue is you are using the old DB driver p2sodbc.dll, change this to crdb_odbc.dll and it should work for you.
    Also check the samples for new Database connection info and methods.

  • Reports (10.1.2.0.2) developer crashes when I try to import a color palette

    I had enough with this Reports Developer tool. Did not have this problem with 6i version (have been using for years) and do not have problem with changing the color palette with Forms in the 10.1.2.0.2 version. But the :(!@#$%! reports keeps crashing when I try to change (import) a color palette. The only option available is the Export color palette, the Import is always greyed out. This report that I am trying to change the color palette was originally designed with 6i reports tool and I am porting it to iAS format. It is running on Linux. If I start a new report (from scratch) in iDS (reports tool), then I have the paper layouts uses the new canvas of the iDS. But if you try to open up an old report, it shows the old color palette and does not allow importing the proper new color palette. I had no problem with changing the color palette when porting 6i forms to 10gR2 forms. Whe the hell the reports is not working? It supposed to be the same process to import a color palette. I need to port this old reports into new iAS format and this stupid color palette stuff is holding us back.
    Any step by step instructions to import a color palette in Reports, is appreciated. Write it for dummies please - I am tired and need step by step instructions please. I never liked the Reports tool (contrary to Forms) and I hate it now.

    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Crystal report run from ASP code significantly slower than when run in CRS

    We have CRS XI R2.  I developed a report that contains several on-demand sub-reports.  The report and sub-reports are very fast when run directly from CRS.  However, when I run from ASP (users run a link from the intranet), it takes 4 times longer (1 second on CRS, vs. 5-10 seconds on intranet).  The report takes longer, bringing up a sub-report takes longer and paging through sub-reports take longer.  What can be done to improve the speed of the report that is using the ASP code?  I used a sample program provided at this support site to develop the report and it is pretty basic code.  The only time I have a problem is when I have many sub-reports.  Since they are on-demand, I do not know why this would matter.

    This has been created as an incident with SAP support.  Things that you will want to check is making sure that you handle the postback to the code as you do not need to run your entire code on every postback.  This will help performance after the original load.
    One other thing is to compare performance with the viewer within Infoview that uses the same backend server as your application, ie PSReportFactory uses the page server, so you'll want to test with the DHTML viewer.  RAS code (reportclientdocument) uses the Report Application Server so you will want to test with the Advanced DHTML viewer.

  • Crystal report 8.5 export to csv and rtf format not working with office 2013

    Hi Experts,
    Crystal report version 8.5 hangs and eventually crash when i export my report to csv or rtf format on windows 7 with office 2013 installed, code is written in VB 6 although the same scenario is working with office 2010 installed.
    i debugged the code and found the application hangs at function Report.Export(False).
    below is the code snippet
           .PDFExportAllPages = True 'ePDFExportAllPages
           .PDFFirstPageNumber = ePDFFirstPageNumber
           .PDFLastPageNumber = ePDFLastPageNumber
           .RTFExportAllPages = True 'eRTFExportAllPages
           .RTFFirstPageNumber = eRTFFirstPageNumber
           .RTFLastPageNumber = eRTFLastPageNumber
           .UseReportDateFormat = eUseReportDateFormat
           .UseReportNumberFormat = eUseReportNumberFormat
           .UseReportNumberFormat = eUseReportNumberFormat
           .XMLAllowMultipleFiles = eXMLAllowMultipleFiles
           .XMLFileName = eXMLFileName
           Report.Export (False) ----Application hangs here and eventually crash
    Looking forward for your help, as it is very urgent
    Regards
    Mohit

    Hi Mohit
    CR 8.5, being about 15 years old, does not support Windows 7. I am surprised this works for you with MS Office 2010 and to be honest, I'd consider my self lucky there. The fact that is does not work with office 2013... well, like I said, lucky with Office 2010 and your luck ran out with Office 2013.
    Your option; rewrite the app in VS 2010 / 2012 / 2013 and use the CR Assemblies for VS .NET from SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET. The CR Java SDK would be another option.

  • Importing Crystal Report layout for customer statements

    Hello,
    I have imported a crystal report layout to use for the customer statements when running them from the ageing report.  The problem is even if we only select one business partner in the ageing report, when we print preview the statement it displays statements for all business partners - this is because in the crystal report there are no parameters.  I know that when you import a layout like this for other documents you need to use for example, {ORDR.DocEntry}={DocKey@} as the parameter however the customer statements don't have a docentry.  When I look at the system statement layout (collection layout), when you run the report you get an ADO.NET (XML) connection prompt.  Is it possible to use the crystal layout i have for the customer statements but for only the customer(s) showing on the ageing report?
    Many thanks,
    Kate

    So just to make it clear,
    you want an overview of open invoices from 1 customer.
    If so, try this in crystal reports :
    Create a parameter field (field explorer)
    Name : CardName
    Type : String
    Value : Static
    do not select a value field (none)
    press ok.
    Select expert
    Create new
    Starts with
    type this : {?CardName}
    press add
    Click formula editor and make it look like this :
    {OINV.DocStatus} = "o" and
    {OINV.CardName} startswith {?CardName}

  • Crystal Report Many to One Query Config error when using DataSet.ReadXML me

    When I build a dataset with this method numerous relations are automatically created. I then map these fields onto crystal reports with ADO.net data connection. However when I run the report the following error occurs:
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException: Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report.Details:
    This query cannot be performed. The link order requires many to one query configuration, which is not supported. Please rearrange the links.
    If I remove the links (relations) i get duplicate data on the report. Is there any way to resolve this or a patch for the error?

    Hello, Mervin;
    Since you are using ADO.NET dataset, is it possible to get all of the fields you need in one SQL Query outside of Crystal Reports?
    If that is possible, you can use that dataset to create an XML or XSD file to use as the structure for your report.
    VB
    'Using the full path to the .xml file, include the schema
    dataSet.WriteXml("C:\temp\test.xml", XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
    or
    dataSet.WriteXmlSchema("c:\temp\testXML.xsd")
    Now create a new report with the ADO.NET(XML) connection and point to either the XML or XSD you created. XML is useful because you can view data in the report designer for final formatting of the report.
    Now there is only one datasource and no linking is required in Crystal Reports. That should resolve the one to many issue.
    Another useful tool is to group on the many and place all the fields normally in the detail section into that group header. Suppress the Detail and Group footer sections. The Group Header will now look like a Detail section and each distinct value will only appear once. You can group on one field or a combination (using a formula field) to get the results you need. Test this to be sure you do not miss anything you want to see.

  • Crystal report from SAP infoset query

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem in a crystal report which is based on Infoset query. When I run the report after passing the parameters it gives me an error "Database error occured" "Parameter field value does not exists" "RFC Closed"
    But if I run the same Infoset query from SQ01 I am able to run it with same paramenter and it returns many records.
    To be very precise I am running the best practice crystal report "Cost Analysis - Planned vs. Actual Order Costs" which is based on infoset query CO_OM_CA_20_Q1.
    It throws me error that "Controlling Area does not exists".
    Did anyone faced similar problem?
    Best Regards,
    Chetan

    Hi,
    log into your SAP ERP system using the SAP GUI and choose in the SAP Menu the following path:
    SAP Menu -> Accounting -> Controlling -> Cost Cetner Controlling ->Environment->Set Controlling Area.
    Set the desired controlling area for your user there (DO NOT FORGET TO CLICK ON THE DISKETTE ICON) and try again.

  • Crystal Report Missing SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query Connector

    Hi,
    I have installed SAP GUI  for Windows 7.2 (Compilation 2) and Crystal Report 2008 SP2 then following by installed SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 on my workstation. However, when i launch my Crystal Report designer, it do shows SAP toolbar however when i click on one of the icon (eg: Setting) the entire CR will hung and prompt me error and exit automatically.
    Beside that, i could not find any connector for SAP (Eg: SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query and etc) when i create a new blank report by click on the New Connection.
    Appreciated anyone know this could assist on this.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    CK

    Hi Ingo,
    Thanks for your prompt reply. I will sort it out and ensure the release version will be the same as Inter Kits.
    By the way, i saw your post regarding the Integration Kits installation and configuration. However, i still need some clarification; appreciated you could assist me on this.
    I have installed SAP BOXI3.1 SP3 on an LINUX machine (Redhat Enterprise 5) and the server was running fine without connecting to BW or SAP eCIBS.
    Now, i have to establish the connectivity to BW (InfoCuve and BW Query) and SAP eCIBS system. As my customer requirement was required to using WEBI, CR and Xcelsius for connecting to BW for getting the data and then using scheduler in BOE for performing report distribution. Some of the report will connecting to SAP eCIBS directly and that will using our Client's machine for creating the report (using CR2008) and then publish to the BOE platform for report scheduling and distribution.
    My question, i wish to install SAP Inter Kits and downloaded Inter. Kits for SAP Solution 3.1 SP3 from service market place. When i refer to the document from help.sap.com; there are couple of section but i wish to know which are the perquisite section that i wish to install and configure?
    Eg: System Requirement which are installing SAP RFC SDK and SAP JCO SDK into my BOE server, then following my create a logon token. How to to that? It also require to install SAP Java Connector and SAP GUI, does these two available for LINUX OS as well?
    The steps in doc was confuse, appreciated your kind help.
    THanks.
    Regards,
    CK.

  • Problems in exporting Urdu data to pdf through Crystal Report  2008

    Hi,
    We have a designed a crystal report in latest Crystal Report SP2. The database used is MS Access, the data is in Urdu langauge. The data is displayed properly on crystal report main preview.
    The problem is only when we export the report to PDF there is a data loss. The content is not properly exported.
    Some additional unexpected characters are also getting inserted.
    But the same content is proper if we export the report into .rtf or .doc format.

  • Conversion from VS2003 to VS2005 Crystal Report View is not compatible

    I am trying to migrate an application from VS2003 to VS2005.  I am trying to run it locally, using the localhost method.  I am getting a parser error: The base class includes the field u2018CrystalReportViewer1u2019 but itu2019s type (CrystalDecisionsWeb.CrystalReportViewer) is not compatible with the type of control (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer)
    I have a tried a number of solutions, including removing and then readding Crystal Report references (picking the 10.2.3600 ones).
    I also created a websetup project, trying either the windows installer and the merge modules.  Those both gave me the error "The setup requires Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher and Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or higher.  This setup cannot be installe don Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME.  Please install Internet Information Server and run this setup again." so I guess I don't understand how localhost works, but I know it's not a true web server.
    I also followed a post to delete the assembly information that was in my web.config, which was      <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    and expected it to be readded when I re-added my references and rebuilt but there is now just an empty <assemblies></assemblies> tag.
    Note that I have VS2003, VS2005 and VS2008 all installed on my computer as we have application in various stages of conversions.  I think I just downloaded SP1 for Crystal Reports for VS2005 but it doesn't specify when I do Help-About in VS so maybe I didn't.
    I have spent so many countless hours and only just found this forum buried under the rather confusing SAP website.
    Thank you SO much for any help,
    Penny

    removing all of the references and adding the 10.2 references is a good start.  the problem is most likely that you still have a 9.1.5000 reference to CrystalDecisions.Web in the HTML source of your web form with a viewer control on it.  Easiest way to upgrade that is to delete the viewer control and drag a new one on from the toolbox.  the drag and drop of the viewer control is what will populate your "add assembly" tags.
