CS Review Panel

"The CS Review panel is available in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro."
OK, for some reason I seem to be playing the part of village idiot today.  Where exactly is that panel in Premiere Pro?

function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

OK, so I was the idiot.  I just found it there myself.  Thanks.
(Got any more of those Program Monitor 'pictures'?)
Glad you found your way around the interface.
As for the "picture", it comes from some footage I shot during Carnival in Martinique earlier this year.
Yes, you've guessed: plenty more where that came from.
But, Jim, I really think you should focus on Premiere's interface.

  • CS Review panel blanks out

My CS Review panel blanks out (see below) when I leave photoshop. In order to sort things out I have to use the CS Live menu on the top right and "create new review" or of course restart photoshop.
This is on Mac OSX 10.6

I recently installed ID CS5. I've never had anything but a blank review panel since my installation a month ago. The online services work just fine, I have a basic annual subscription to CS Live, I've set up a couple of new reviews and uploaded several Parts, but nothing appears in the review panel. It looks just like the one posted earlier in this thread. I've got the most recent version of Flash Player. Help needed. David Dunn

  • CS Review Panel - PPro

I don't have one. I have the 5.02 update. I have the button on the top right with the option for creating a new review and were you sign in and out of CS Live. I have the same create a new revue option under the file menu and under Window menu/Extensions. I'm signed in to CS Live. I can use the service that is available for uploading outside of Premiere Pro. I watched the video that Terry White made and I don't have the "panel" that is demonstrated in the source monitor area. What could be the reason for this? Create a new review has .... after it. Is that right? I mean should it. I'm at my sons computer and he is a student with an academic copy - is it not available on that version?

Here's what I had to do to get mine to show up:
Use the Learn More option to go online to the CS Review subsite  and sign in with your Adobe ID. Go to the CS Review main section.
Back in Premiere, click the Sign In option at the top of the CS Live option list; sign in.
    Close Premiere.
Restart  Premiere. You should now have CS Review Home and Create New Review  under the CS Review option, and there will be a new option under Window  > Extension called CS Review. That's the actual review window.
One computer worked right away doing this; the other I had to repeat steps 2 and 3 a couple times before the options and panel appeared.
    Hope that helps.

  • Moving Image from one Review to Another?

I attempted to upload an image (open in Photoshop) to a specific review. However, I could not see the desired review in the Photoshop CS Review panel. Out of frustration - after attempting to "find" the desired review for several minutes - I uploaded the image to another review and then went online, using Safari, to Acrobat.com.
There is no visible means of moving an image from one review to another. There is a way of dragging one review (with all sub-images) to another location. But I can't see a way of moving a sub-image from one review to another review.
IF there is some "magic" that someone knows I would sure appreciate some education.

This works quite well for a single image review. I've moved them from one workspace to another. The issue is when a review has multiple images and you want to take only one of them from that review and move it to another review in another workspace; I can't seem to get that to work at all.
When I open a review and navigate to the desired image, then click in the lower left corner and select a new workspace to move the image to, it moves the entire review - not the single image - to the new workspace.
I guess I could delete the "part" from the workspace it currently exists in and then create it as a stand alone review, but then I won't be able to imbed it into another review as I want to do.
The source frustration here is that I can't get CS Review in CSPS5 to navigate to the desired workspace/review. I get "ALL REVIEWS" displayed but not the workspaces... Any ideas on how to display workspaces instead of reviews?

  • In InDesign CS5.5, getting articles panel to show up

Basic stuff here -- in InDesign CS5.5, when I go to "window" and check "articles," what shows up is "create new review" panel. Is this an older version, fixed in a later patch? Or what!! I'm trying to follow along in the Lynda.com "InDesign5.5 What's New" tutorial. Big disconnect.

  • Managing/viewing Premiere Pro reviews

I have a couple questions regarding managing and viewing reviews that are uploaded from Premiere Pro CS5:
Is the only means of navigating through the "parts" of a particular review the up and down arrows and the "# of #" box in the upper left corner of the review page? I've poked and prodded all around the service, and have found no other means of navigating directly to a particular review. If I'm missing it, please advise; if it's not there, this is something that has to be added soon to make this a viable means of sending previews to a client. I have a project with more than 20 sequences/parts in it already, and not having quick access to a specific part directly is going to frustrate already-fickle clients.
This hinges on the first question, so I think I already know the answer: is there a means of reorganizing the order in which uploaded reviews are displayed? For example, I have five reviews called A, B, C, D, and E, and I want them to appear in that order. However, the order they were uploaded is the order they are displayed: D, C, E, A, B. It seems that there might be a way of doing this for graphic/design reviews (I don't know for sure, as I don't work in this field or use CS Review for such), but I cannot find this option for video reviews.
This is more of a feature request than a "how-to" request: we need batch capability for encoding and uploading. I'm not sure if this would involve launching AME for background encoding (as is done currently for local exports), but one definite improvement would be assigning priority to encodes that are ready to be uploaded. In the example above with the 20-ish sequences (all about one minute in length), the encode goes quite quickly on my system--much faster than uploading. As a result, I can get five or six encodes done before the first upload is completed. Instead of spooling the uploads in order, the CS Review panel tries to shove every encode up the pipe as it is completed. This makes the entire upload process much slower than it would be if they were uploaded serially, instead of in parallel.
The first and second items are "gottahaves" if there is no way to do so now (I can already hear the client grumbling now), and the third would be a "nicetahave," so I hope feature and functionality updates are available in due course. For the record, I do like the service--I'm actually very impressed with it--and see great potential in it for making my life quite a bit easier when it comes to client relations. I just hope I'm missing #1 and #2 above, and there is an easy method of accessing both.
BONUS QUESTION (tongue-in-cheek): For those of us who are in video production and will only be using CS Review for video content, will we be credited for the amount of time between our CS5 registration date and the release of the CS Review service for Premiere Pro, so that we receive the full allotment of our free 12-month subscription?
Thank you for hearing me out, and any input you can provide.

    Hi Mike,
Thank you very much for your reply. As a general statement, I really appreciate that you guys are staying on top of what real end-users actually need, instead of what sounds shiny and poofy in marketing literature. I'll respond to each of your responses, but I'll also send an email as I'd be glad to communicate with you in more detail on our use of the service.
    1. You have found the two means of doing this...via the arrows and the part number edit box. We are planning on improving navigation as a focus in our upcoming releases. Question: What kind of navigation where you expecting to find and didn't?
I was afraid of that. The arrows are problematic because they're linear, and the numbers entry box is problematic because "part numbers" don't mean much of anything to the client. Both means of navigation are not direct enough, are not very self-explanatory (there isn't even a text call-out that says something like "Navigation"), and require a bit of looking around in the interface to locate. I know where these things are now, but I don't want to have to educate each new client on how to navigate the system. I hate to say it, but this thing needs to be accessible to the lowest common denominator in order to be effective. Several of the clients I work for require several sets of eyes or departments to review a given piece, so making the interface basic and navigation immediately obvious is crucial, as I'm sure you'll agree.
I could be sated with a simple dropdown that pulled the name of the review part (the web client already does this, and posts it beneath the video player), or even better, use the wasted space on the left side of web client to display each review part in a thumbnail. The interface could and should resemble the CS Review Panel, and could display the number of views, replies, and status (Changes Needed, Revised, Approved, Completed, etc) of a particular review part. Here's a quick, crude mockup of what I envision (I didn't have time to paint it or build it to scale)...
Hopefully that makes some sense; I think this type of navigation, while it maybe isn't as stripped down as you'd like, would make the service much easier to use for multipart reviews. Maybe a small button could be added to the division between the panes to slide in or out the "parts list" so it could be moved out of the way when not necessary.
    2.  Reordering parts- you can drag n drop parts to reorder using the Review Panel. This was missing in the CS Review help chapter. Good catch Colin. We are considering ways to make this more obvious in the review panel and in the web client.
Maybe add some double-headed arrows (single-headed on the first and last part) that would serve as a visual indicator to click-and-drag, and add some pop-up bubbles that explain what the arrows do (this is already done with the Eye icon and the Comments icon)...
    3. Regarding background processing of encode and prioritization of the upload- we are exploring using AME for enabling a encoding queue. We had not yet considered the use case for prioritizing the upload. Good stuff. This is valuable and timely information and thank you for the feedback. Question: how many simultaneous uploads and what size/length of video are typical?
It will vary, but to use the current project I'm working on as an example, I've got 20 sequences that are all approximately 1 minute in length. The source material/sequence in this case is DVCPROHD 720p/30p from Panasonic P2 MXFs, and I'm using the HD 1.5Mbps preset. My computer is fairly snappy, and on these simple first edits, will encode a minute clip in about 6-7 seconds; the upload takes several times longer, obviously. Doing this one-by-one is tedious, and I create a backlog pretty quickly. Once more than one upload starts, the process slows down significantly. Is this a typical project? No, not necessarily, for me or for other companies, but it's a quick way to reveal the deficiencies in the current encode/upload process.
Ideally, I'd love to send multiple sequences to a batch, either within Premiere or through AME, and apply a preset to all of them and have them handled sequentially. What would be killer would be the ability to drag one or more sequences from the Premiere Pro project panel into the CS Review panel and drop them into a waiting Review. One enhancement could be the ability to set up an encoding preset for a particular Review; since I'm typically working with the same video format in a given project, I wouldn't be altering this for individual Review uploads.
While I can't divulge to many schedule details, know that we are actively working on these items. The fun part about services is that we intend to have more frequent feature releases than the desktop apps.
That's great to hear. I just got off the phone with the producer I do a lot of post-production for, and he's pretty excited about CS Review, too. We don't feel like we're quite ready to deploy it on one of the clients yet (mostly because they're terrified of change), but also because we feel it has to be proven before we can rely on it. It's one thing if your desktop application doesn't quite work the way you'd expect--you can work around it and still get your jobs done, and your clients are none the wiser. However, with something like this, it had better be bulletproof because anything that doesn't work right is going to make clients unhappy--and when clients aren't happy, we don't eat I know you guys get this, and it's obvious in how well the service works so far; we just need to do some more internal tinkering (and hoping our requests will be heard and implemented) before we'll let it loose.
Thanks again for listening, Mike; I'll email you so you have my information.
Cheers, and great job so far,
    Colin

  • CS review, add legend

    Hello.
I didn't find a feature reaquest form, so here i am.
I mostly use CS review to communicate with clients on inDesign documents.
When i upload them, legend is empty.
When i want to update a part, like modified page, i have to upload the new page, then think about removing the old page, then place the new. I've already asked for a more fluid workflow, without success.
Most of the time, i will mistake my process : i will upload my page, then move it to its place, then wonder which of the two pages i'm supposed to removed. There, the legend field could be useful. I could type in the time stamp (date and time uploaded) so it would become easy to know which was first.
Except i have to do it for everypage manually. And think about doing it the moment i upload. On 44 pages, 23 doubles, you can imagine how i hate it
It sounds pretty easy to add this timestamp when uploading content, i just have one more field with a few options, like "fill with timestamp" "fill with inD document name", or just keep clear if you prefer it that way. So anytime i add content, legend is already populated, i can easily replace old content, my clients see which was first directly in the legend, and if i want to add individual legend, well, i still can ! (that's the beauty of it).
Anyone in or anyone with a better idea ?

  • Cannot add a specific Indesign file to Review

A client sent me 9 InDesign files. I opened them all in CS5 and saved with new names.  Then I added them to a review online; however, one of the 9 won't let me add it. The button is grayed out in the CS Review panel. Any ideas why this would happen? It's a one page form with just text and one small logo that is not linked.

    Oh pity.
Adding a "source" file which is not really a source file and prefixing every line with comment characters is quite ugly way of doing it. In some ways Vivado does support adding text files to project (I adds upgrade logs and others); Could it be possible for users to create such files, too, in a future release of Vivado?

  • CS Review just plain buggy

CS Review is working very sporadically. Here's what my experience has been the past 3 days:
I created a review containing 9 separate 1-page InDesign CS5 files and shared it in a private workspace.
    • one of the InDesign files I could not add to the review yesterday, but today I could.
    • I placed a PDF into an Indesign file because you can't comment online on a PDF; that InDesign also refused to be added to the review yesterday, but today it worked
    • If I close the CS Review panel in InDesign, then open it again, it's blank. There are no submenus available either, and no icons at the bottom. I think I might be able to get it back by relaunching the app.
    • I have all 9 InDesign docs open - I have comments on them online. (they're small, 1-page forms and I have 8 GB of RAM). I could see all the comments in the CS Review panel - (before it went blank) but I cannot show them in the InDesign layout. This was working an hour ago - I'd choose Open Source file from the CS Review menu, and it would switch to the correct file, and then I'd click on the comment and I'd get the little icon in the bottom so I could show and/or jump to the comment in the layout. But now, when I select the comment, with the source file open and in front, those left 2 icons at the bottom of the panel are grayed out.
    • I just added 2 files to the review (the 2 I couldn't add yesterday). It named both new Parts with the filename of the 1st file of the 2. I had to manually rename the part via Acrobat.com - and then that was reflected in the CS Review panel.
    • The panel displays the parts of the review the same way as it does the separate reviews (I have 3 reviews in my workspace). There is very little difference visually between multiple reviews or multiple parts of a single review, except that the review has a hyperlink in it. It would be helpful if they were more easily distinguished.
Either this is buggy, or there is some special procedure I'm supposed to follow in order to get the panel to work, such as opening the 1st part file first or something that isn't documented anywhere I can see it. I know this is all new, but I think it's important for Adobe to know that it's been anything but smooth sailing so far.
p.s. Is there any way to print the comments from reviewers? For instance, in Acrobat 9, you can summarize comments and print the pages with comments showing in a variety of formats. I can't find a way to print the comments at all, other than a screenshot.

    Hi David
The rough playback could be a number of factors, but we've seen this issue before with the 10.1 version of the Flash Player that is installed with CS5. Try updating to the latest 10.1 version to see if that smoothes things out.You can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
You can update your Adobe ID (email address) from using your home to work email.  The best place to this is here:https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm?loc=en_us&nl=1
After you login with your home email address, this page will allow you to update Adobe ID and password, view subscription information and much more.
Note- if you already have a Adobe ID for your work email address it will prevent the conflict since it's already in use. To work around this login using your work address and change the email to one that's not in use. This will clear your work email from the Adobe ID database.  Logout and login again with your home address and now you can change it to your work address.
Thanks again for taking CS Review on a trial run. Let us know how it goes.

  • Feature request: better tools for commenting and editing text

We currently use a comments-enabled Acrobat workflow with InDesign to track changes to our large catalog project. Was hoping to move our team over to CS Live, but currently the commenting tools are sub-par, and not accurate enough for extensive text editing. My request would be to imitate the text editing functionality of Acrobat:
    In CS Live online:
    - allow users to be able to copy selected text. (This is useful when a reviewer wants to be able to modify a sentence or paragraph. It's a headache now to have to retype the sentence prior to making modifications)
    - Ability to highlight text and hit "delete" to mark text as deleted, or highlight and type over to indicate replaced text
    - Ability to click to insert text, and have the comment appear with the inserted text designation (little blue carat like in Acrobat)
    - ability to highlight a section of text
    In InDesign:
    - ability to copy the text in a comment and NOT copy all the other extraneous meta data. (Currently, if you click "copy text", it will copy the comment along with all the details about the comment. For example, "- Amy Stewart [10.06.11 at 12:56 PM]"
    - ability to see in InDesign the EXACT part of the text that needs to be modified. Right now, the red box outlines the general area. The CS Review panel shows a tiny thumbnail with black highlight over the area of text that needs to be changed, but unfortunately, there's no way to zoom in on it, so you're stuck having to toggle between InDesign and the online review, where it's possible to zoom. (This diminishes the utility of the CS Review panel.)
If you were able to incoroprate all the commenting functionality of Acrobat, I think you'll have a winner. But right now, we're going to have to stick with Acrobat as it's the only way to easily modify text.

Sorry if I might be stating the obvious (but at least I was such a *dummy* once that I needed this explicitely):
In order to move the sequence of images per drag&drop in grid view you need to
Put the sort order in the bottom toolbar to "user order" (toggle visibility with letter T if not displayed)
Grab an image from within its thumbnail, not from its border-cell.
When you move around you see a vertical black thick line wandering in between images where you would be able to drop it
Put the images first into a collection in case they should be spread across multiple folders.
This is the reason why most often from a filter result you cannot re-arrange.
Still sometimes it does not work as I want, but can *be persuaded*, i.e. I repeat the same trial after first moving to another collection, then return back. I can't nail it down sufficiently to file a bug.
For an automated sorting according to filename (chosse that setting finally in toolbar) you could rename the photos in place, without exporting & re-importing. Just select them and hit <F2> to bring up the renaming dialog like possible during import.
+1 vote from me, as I am neither satisfied with the responsiveness of moving folders within LR e.g. from laptop hard disk to NAS.
Apart from that I try not to build much on my folder structure, just break them into manageable quantities and have a quick "diary-overview" by using naming convention "YYYY-MM-DD description of event" (pictures of up to 4 cameras go inside, unique filenames for Canons achieved by renaming during import). For all the rest I prefer to build (smart) collections.

  • How to expand multi-line fields in pdf forms?

I have a FormsCentral PDF form, which allows users to fill out the form and save as a PDF. However, after receiving the completed forms, I am unable to see all the text in the multi-line field boxes without opening them and scrolling down. Since I will be sharing several of these competed forms with a review panel, I would like to:
    1) Display the entire content of the multi-line field boxes rather than having the reader scroll down, then
    2)  Save the completed forms so that its read-only when I send it to the review panel
I am not collecting responses via FormsCentral. I am just receiving the PDF via email.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thank you!

You can use a script to change the font size to Auto, which will cause all of the text to display, assuming it can be even at a font size of 4. For example, the following code can be executed in the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J):
// Set the font size to Auto for a text field named "Text1"
    getField("Text1").textSize = 0;
A script that will change this for all multline fields in the form is:
// Set the font size for all multiline fields to Auto
    for (var i = 0; i < numFields; i++) {
        var fName = getNthFieldName(i);
        var f = getField(fName);
        if (f.type === "text" && f.multiline && f.textSize !== 0) {
            f.textSize = 0;
This script could be included in an Action if you want to do this for a collection of forms.

  • How long does the free service last?

I am unclear as to how long my free CS Review account will be available? Can you clarify. Also, will my account be canceled afer a trial period and will my files all be deleted? It was hard to find this info in the documentation.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Kevin,
I work with Adobe and can help answer your questions for you. The complimentary subscription lasts for 12 months from the day you sign up, as long as you are registered before 4/30/2011. Regarding your second question...your files will be saved indefinitely and available to you even if your CS Live subscription lapses. All you need to do is login to www.acrobat.com to access them in your personal organizer that is available as part of the free account. You can also have full access to old reviews, including the ability to comment and share. Once the complimentary trial is over you can then register for a CS Live subscription which will give you the ability to continue creating new reviews and grant you access to the entire CS Review panel. I hope this helps out. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

I can point you to some online information.  I really don't know the steps myself.
This blog talks about how to do it in LiveCycle Designer: http://blogs.uoregon.edu/developments/2010/12/29/pdf-making-text-fields-grow-to-accommodat e-text/comment-page-1/
You could also consider asking the user in this post for their idea on how to do it without making a dynamic form (LiveCycle): http://forums.adobe.com/message/4841774
Is there a reason you don't use FormsCentral to collect the responses?  You could sign up for a 1-month subscription unless you have security or other reasons not to collect with FormsCentral, and then you'd be able to collect your responses and download each one as a PDF form individually and that form would be locked and have expanded text fields.  You could stop automatic renewal and you would still have access to the form and responses in your Free level account (but could not collect more than 50 responses, if you already have greater than 50 those would remain).
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Sign in Failed - Folio Builder!

    Hi,
I have trying to help my client to use Folio Builder to create Folios and publish them onto iPad.
He created login on acrobat.com and all works fine online.
But when he tries to login into folio builder in InDesign with same login information, he gets 'Signin Failed...Please try again' message.
I tried my login (which work on my machine) and it failed as well. We try all latest updates still no luck.
It looks like high security firewall/proxy settings though we tried disabling local firewall but no luck.
Can anyone tell me the port number Adobe uses to login from Folio builder so that we can open it in Domain level firewall?
    Much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
Could you provide me with some more information to help us narrow down the problem for you?
    - What build of the Folio Builder panel do you have installed?
When you open the panel, at the bottom there is some grey text that is the version. The latest version is 3.3.0.20110622_m_659505. This panel comes with version 1.1.1 of the Folio Producer tools.
    - Have you installed all the Adobe updates?
Under the Help menu of InDesign, there is an "Updates..." menu item. Run this and see if everything has been updated for InDesign
    - Are you able to sign into other extensions?
Open the CS Review panel (Window > Extensions > CS Review) and see if you are able to log in to that panel. When you are signed in, the CS Live menu in the upper right of InDesign will change icons and have have a filled in blue circle.
    Thanks,
    S
