CS2 to CS6 upgrade

Is there an upgrade path from an upgrade CS2 to an upgrade CS6? My last full version was V2.5 many years ago. I do, however, have CS2 installed on an old computer. Will the CS2 serial number suffice to activate/register the CS6; or do I need the installstion disk? Do I have to move my imaging box so that an internet connection is available? Currently I have no internet connection to that box.

Hi,
To get upgrade pricing for CS6 versions, you need to have at least a CS3 version. You can find more details here:

• Upgrading photoshop CS2 to CS6?

I would like to upgrade my PS CS2 to CS6, but don't see that option (only CS3 or higher). Can anyone help?

Sorry, it's not possible to upgrade from CS2 to CS6. CS2 is too old.
Unfortunately you must pay full price.
Only CS5/CS5.5 qualifies to upgrade to CS6.
A temporary dispensation is permitted by Adobe for CS3 and CS4 users to upgrade to CS6 until Dec 31, 2012. After that date, they also pay full price.
http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq/upgrade-policy.html
Adobe has changed the upgrade rules with CS6 - to a "one-version-back" policy - so that only those users with the most current version can upgrade. Everyone else pays full price. i.e. no more version skipping.

• I lost CS2 when I upgraded to OSX Yosemite. I want to install Lightroom. Can I transfer the Lightroom 5 software to an SD card and then download from that to my computer?

I have a 2009 21.5 iMac with malfunctioning internal disk drive. I lost CS2 when I upgraded to OSX Yosemite. I want to install Lightroom. Can I transfer the Lightroom 5 software to an SD card and then download from that to my computer?

you need the installation files, not copies of installed programs.

• CS6 Upgrade Info

I have just had a heads up from my computer supplier re CS6. Note that this is in New Zealand:
Buy Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Nowand Get Adobe CS6 at No Additional Cost!
Purchase a Creative Suite 5.5 full license or upgrade between 26th March and 6th May 2012 and receive an upgrade to CS6 at no additional cost!
This is the last chance for CS2 users to upgrade - otherwise when CS6 is released their product won't qualify for upgrade pricing! And if they upgrade now, they'll get a free upgrade to CS6!
It is also the end of CS Point Product to Suite upsells - if you've ever wanted to upgrade from a point product to a suite, now is your last chance plus you also get a free upgrade to CS6!
Adobe CS6 is coming soon. Don't miss this limited-time offer to upgrade. Hurry offer ends 6th May!

Up until CS5 I had always managed to get the student teacher versions, but Adobe clamped down on that here (and everywhere else AFAIK). So I bit the bullet and paid the full price for CS5. In a fairly short period I decided my aging version of Premiere Pro was next to useless with DSLR 1080 and H264, so paid full price for Premiere Pro CS5. Then I moved over from MS Publisher to inDesign, and thought I'd try (for a third time) to get into Lightroom, by paying for the product thinking that would force my hand. We pay something like double the price for Adobe products in New Zealand compared to the USA, and the above products cost me NZ$4500! Now I find that I'd really like After Affects and Illustrator, but would have to start again with the full price for a suite.
I do a limited amount of commercial work, only accepting briefs that interest me. While I'm lucky that I don't need an income, I still have to justify that sort of expenditure to myself at least, and I'm definitely feeling badly treated by Adobe. If the pricing was the same across the world it would be a start. I read that there had been 500,000 downloads of the public beta in the first two weeks, and they would have come from all over the world, but sourced from the same server. I obtain all my Adobe products via direct download, but unless I have a US credit card, I am forced to use the Australian server with the huge price hike.
Come Adobe. Tell me why I need to do that. Why are you charging folk outside of America so much more? You can only get away with that sort of arrogant disregard for your customers for so long before they turn their backs on you!!!!!

• Unable to enter serial number for Master Collection CS6 Upgrade

I recently purchased a Master Collection CS6 upgrade (from 5.5). My CS6 serial number was correctly recognised but it said it couldn't find any software eligible for the upgrade despite Master Collection CS5.5 being installed on my PC (running Windows 7 Ultimate). The screen to enter the serial number of the eligible software doesn't have Master Collection CS5.5 in the drop-down, only CS5. Using that option with my CS5.5 serial number doesn't work. I got no response to a case opened on the support site.
In order to install the CS6 software, I then installed it as a trial version. I now get reminders that I only have x days to go but there is no option to enter my serial number. I assume it thinks I've got a trial version of Creative Cloud.
Adobe Support keep closing cases raised on the spurious grounds that I haven't responded. It is they that are not responding! Anyone able to help?
Thanks in anticipation.

if the serial number has been used, you won't be able to use that serial and that's the only thing you purchased.

• Error message in Photoshop CS6 upgrade download

I just purchased the upgrade from Photoshop CS5 to CS6 as a download. I downloaded the download manager as instructed, and installed it. I then downloaded the CS6 upgrade. But when I went to install it, it asked for my serial number, which I (double-checked and) provided. It gave me a message saying that although it is a valid serial number, there is no product available that matches that serial number. I don't understand. Help?

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

• Acrobat X Pro won't open not long after CS6 upgrade

I upgraded to CS6 from CS4 just before the new year. I have been having problems with my computer being slow and noticed after installation that the 2 previous versions I had were still installed (silly me thought upgrades would just override these haha). So i googled to see if i could uninstall them without it affecting the CS6 upgrade and it seemed i could. So i did. Everything seems to have been working ok with the exception of my psd and indd files icons no longer show - the files appear corrupted however they open fine.
This morning when i opened Acrobat, it opened the file then suddenly closed without explaination or error. I have not been able to open it since. I have restared 4 times (as this usually helps when a program will not open) as well as stopped the acrotray.exe from running on startup. When i googled this problem it appears I am not the only one who has experienced this difficulty. Does anyone have anything that has worked for them?

Hi MSITSLAN,
The fix for this issue has already been rolled out via AAM update. Please launch Adobe Application Manager on your machine and update it. If you have already tried Solution 3 provided by Deepak and have updated AAM, this issue shouldn't come again. Alternatively, try Solution 2 and get rid of this issue quickly and permanently.
This hotfix was released in late October after we found out that most of our users were re-installing the application using DVD and were'nt able to update it. So we decided to provide it seperately. If you download and install CS6 from Adobe.com, the latest version of AAM is installed and that doesn't show this issue.
I suggest you to try Solution 2 and check if Exit Code 0 appears as a result. Do this on both the machines that you have. After applying the hotfix, if Acrobat is launched properly then you don't have to keep your fingers crossed for 30days.
Kindly feel free to post back the results.
~Sandeep V.

• Preinstalled filters from CS5 not showing up in CS6 upgrade

I just installed CS6 upgrade from CS5 but the Nik and Topaz software filters are not showing up. How do I get CS6 to recognize them without having to reinstall all of them again.

How do I get CS6 to recognize them without having to reinstall all of them again.
You don't. The behavior is as it always has been - Adobe apps never migrate legacy plug-ins and content to avoid compatibility issues. and you will probably need updated vertsions for CS6, anyway.

• Where do i go to find my license number for my CS6 upgrade??

Need to find out where to get my license number for my CS6 upgrade?

You would get an e-mail from Adobe with the serial #. Usually it arrives within 5 - 10 min after purchase.
Check your spam/junk e-mail folder.
If you can't find it, you have to contact Adobe. This is a user-to-user forum.

I am about to buy this product from a 3rd party reseller who says its new and unused.

• Problems installing Acrobat X as part of CS6 upgrade

After upgrading to CS6 from CS5, my Acrobat Pro 9 stopped working - it would say that there is an error and shut down, each time I tried to open it. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Acrobat 9 and the CS6 upgrade. Latest reinstallation of the CS6, installed everything except Acrobat X, which comes with the package...
Any ideas?

Still not working. I continue to get the error message that “Certain elements of or these products are not able to be installed” (translated from French). In the following error log, it says (amongst other things) :
ERROR: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Erreur irrécupérable lors de l’installation.

ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050: - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
When I was uninstalling previous versions of Acrobat and Reader, it had warned that it couldn’t access the file C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf. I did try running the Acrobat Cleaner Tool as you recommended, twice, restarting each time but still no luck.
Any other suggestions?

• Install instructions for CS6 upgrade for WIndows missing - in what order should files be run?

After over 14 days of dealing with the idiots at Adobe Support, opening and closing of 2 cases multiple times, promised emails not being sent (and being blamed for having my email set up to filter out Adobe emails), attempts to charge me for the already approved "free" upgrade, and then having an order for a physical disk version of the CS6 upgrade cancelled by some bonehead, I finally was able to download the CS6 upgrade files. Only to discover that there are no installation instructions for Windows if you did not use the Akamai download manager (which I did not).
There are a total of 6 files in the download directory, all downloaded from the CS6 upgrade download page.
- In what order should the files be run? Just run the .exe files, or do some files need to be extracted/unzipped first?
A second question: my CS5.5 version was never installed, and never registered.
- Will the CS6 upgrade accept its serial number directly, or do I have to do something else through Adobe Support?
-- WTW

Which files: all of them on the CS6 Production Premium upgrade download page.
ProductionPremium_CS6_LS7.7z
ProductionPremium_CS6_LS7.exe
PremierePro_6_Content_LS7.7z
PremierePro_6_Content_LS7.exe
Illustrator_16_Content_LS16.exe
Download_and_Install_Instruction_all.pdf
The last one is useless.
The Speech Analyzer Models were downloaded separately, from another page. I assume they should be installed after everything else is installed and working.

• CS6 upgrade for photoshop CS5 gives errors

I recently purchased your Photoshop CS6 upgrade. I had been using Photoshop CS5 previously. When I entered my serial number I got a message stating that no qualifying product can be found on my computer. In the product drop down box I found and selected CS5 but when I enter the serial number of my CS5 Master Collection (which Photoshop was part of it) I get a error saying that serial number is not for a qualifying product.
What should I do?

You cannot upgrade a component of a Creative Suite to the next version - which is what it sounds like you're attempting.
e.g. you cannot upgrade to Photoshop CS6 using the Photoshop CS5 from Master Collection CS5.
http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#upgrade-eligibility
"Am I eligible for upgrade pricing from an earlier Creative Suite edition to an individual CS component?
No. Adobe does not offer upgrade pricing for customers wishing to move from a suite edition to an individual CS component. For complete upgrade information for the product you are interested in, consult the upgrade eligibility chart on that product's buying guide page."
From Master Collection CS5, you can only upgrade to a CS6 Suite (does not have to be Master Collection CS6).
If Photoshop CS6 is all you want then either purchase a full version of CS6 or consider joining the Cloud.
