CS3 on windows 2000?

There I was, just about to upgrade to CS3, having not
upgraded to 8, and notice it says Windows XP and Vista.
Does this mean that :
a. bad luck, it won't run on Windows 2000, or
b. of course it will run on Windows 2000, there's just no
official support.
Cheers,
Iain

If it doesn't specifically say that Windows 2000 is
supported, I'm afraid
you are out of luck

  • CS3 and Windows 2000

I'm going to presume that CS3 does not support Windows 2000, as searches of the knowledgebase, Forum and FAQ yielded no info, and the CS3 System Requirements does not mention Windows 2000 at all.
Can someone please confirm this for me? Thanks in advance.

You can do that in XP (only Professional, not Home Edition) - just disable Simple file sharing in Folder options. Vista doesn't need that option - it provides the ability by default (though you have to click an awful lot of buttons)

  • Can Flash 8 still be purchased anywhere (stuck on Windows 2000)?

    Hi -
I have a bit of a problem; I have a colleague that needs to
purchase a new version of Flash 8 to install on a computer in our
corporate environment. Unfortunately, we are using Windows 2000,
and so she cannot buy or install Flash 9. Also, because this is a
corporate purchase, it has to be a new, sealed box, and must be
purchased through a reputable online retailer or bricks&mortar
store, it cannot be purchased through an individual or private
    party.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    mark
p.s. I wish Adobe hadn't unilaterally dropped support for
    Windows 2000 in CS3.

I doubt very much you'll find any established retailer still
selling new copies of Flash 8. If you check Amazon.com you may find
an unused copy floating around still, but from an Amazon Seller
(i.e. not Amazon itself). I just checked, and there is one
available. If it's a legitimate, sealed in-box copy, and if it's
invoiced through Amazon, then it should be acceptable to your
    corporate purchase department.
There are enough people still looking for Flash 8 instead of
CS3 - you see it here on this forum often enough - that you'd think
Adobe would keep a small back stock for sale. But that isn't how it
    works in most businesses.

  • Installation problem on windows 2000

    Hi,
    Please help!
I've been tring to install oracle on windows 2000 machine unsuccessfully. the setup program aborted without error message. I've tried many versions of oracle database, 8.1.7 all editions, 8.1.6ee, 9iAS. the only message error I got when 9iAS failed to install (iSetup.exe). the problem seems to be with the java runtime environment. the jre 1.1.7 came with 9iAS would not run properly. I've tried to install java2 and jdk1.1.8 from javasoft, still no luck.
    Any idea?

    Hi,
The problem of installing Oracle Product on P4 computers comes from the symcjit.dll (Java Jusit in time compiler) which doesn't recognize the P4.
I installed Oracle products on my P4 just by copying the CD's on a harddisk and manually replacing the dll (which is Version 3...) by a one I found to be Version 4.0.0.7.
It is maybe not the best solution as it can result some instability (I don't know yet) but at least I didn't bought a brand new computer for nothing.
The question is to know when Oracle will deliver some patches to allow a normal installation on P4s.
Let me know if you want me to send you the dll.
    Regards,
    Jacques.

  • Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 Professional

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have Windows 2000 professional edition loaded on my PC and I'm not sure what it allows. Can I load Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition of the database on this operating system, or do I need to load windows 2000 server software.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?

Yes, of course. Both versions works but you have to be prepared for lots of RAM.

  • Live! Cam Voice + Windows 2000 - No video input

    Hi all,
Since purchasing my Live! Cam Voice, I've always used it with a Windows XP Home machine. Recently, though, I tried to use it with a laptop running Windows 2000 Professional. The installation process encounters no problems and applications like MSN Messenger detect the cam without any difficulty. However, when *any* application attempts to view video from the camera, nothing is returned but darkness (I have lights on :-P) - it's as though it's simply not been switched on. Anyone got any ideas for dealing with this?
    Mike
    If anyone's interested, the laptop's spec is . . .
Model - Compaq Armada M700 (USB2 connectivity provided via PCMCIA card)
    CPU - Intel P3 650Mhz
    Memory - 92MB
    HD - 6GB
Not sure about anymore details of the spec (graphics accelerator, etc) - I guess Googling for the model would give more details.

I am having the same problem. I am using windows Vista and have tried?recording sound in other applications and it works fine, just not when trying to record in LIVE! cam. I jbought this cam 2 months ago and just now find out it does not work when I need it the most. I am due to give a video presentation in two weeks and will probably have to buy a new cam, what a dissapointment!

  • Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.

(A little advice: If you can, dump XP and install a copy of Windows 2000 second edition. They both have the same KERNAL but I find that Win 2000 is much more compatible for now. I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)

  • Upgrading from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000

    Hello,
I have iPlanet 6 installed and running under Windows NT 4.0. I need to upgrade the server to Windows 2000. Is there anything I need to do to iPlanet 6 before or after the Win2K upgrade? Or do I just upgrade the server, and the iPlanet software will run normally after the OS upgrade?
Thanks for any advice on this topic.
    Sincerely,

    Dear Darren,
Finally, I tried to use "Out Port.vi" under Windows 2000 (the AccessHW was added in NT as well as in 2000). It seemed to work (it means there was no more error "capability not supported", however it did not work (the result of reading a port using "In port.vi" was always 255, regardless the value I expected.
The configuration of board was exactly in the same state as before crash of Windows NT (no change of base address of board etc.). But it is true that both boards (custom one and PCI-MIO-E-16E-4) were removed and than reinstalled. The LabView program was without any change.
It is just my impression - I did not examine the problem very carefully, so may be there was some other reason of failing.
But finally we decided to reinstalled N
T, because of other (non-NI) devices which are not supported by Win 2000.
    Thank you. Regards

This resolved my problem as well. I am on Windows 2000 server, SP2. The problem installing Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 standard edition exhibited itself by briefly changing the cursor to an hourglass and then returning to ready. The executable JREW.EXE would briefly execute in processes and then stop.
I copied the installation media to a server drive and renamed symcjit.dll and the installer worked correctly.
Thank you to Yugandhar for this solution.
We too faced some of those problems ie setup.exe wont even run in Windows XP pro, p4 system..the culprit is symcjit.dll. Its the problem in p4 to run this dll. After lot of research, just rename it and all is set to go.
    regards

  • Exception_access_violation error on Windows 2000 Professional

    Hello,
I am developing a stand-alone Java application that runs without any problem on Windows 98, XP, and most 2000 and NT machines. On some Windows 2000 Professional machines, however, attempting to run the program generates the following error. Is there something about the configuration of these machines that needs to be adjusted to make the program work? The JRE (1.4) and program installation are done in exactly the same way in each case. The only variation seems to be in the version of the operating system.
Any help much appreciated. Best reply gets 4 DD's!
    Thanks much,
    David

Yes, the user in question is logging on with full Administrator access. He suspects some kind of conflict with another application on the machine, but given that the two occurrences I've seen of this error have been on NT and 2K Pro machines, I'm inclined to think it's operating system related. Any more hunches?

  • Oracle 8.1.7 client installer won't work under windows 2000

I am trying to run the latest oracle client install of 8.1.7 on my windows 2000 PC and when I double click on it, it show the hour glass for a few seconds, then nothing happens. No screens come up at all. I have a Dell PC with an ATI rage 16 MB ultra card and I have dowlnloaded the latest jre 1.1.8 and nothing helps. If I try another kind of PC like my ibm, the installer works fine. Dell has no answers??

I found the solution on another discussion group and it worked for WinNT4 SP6a:
First copy your CD content to your hard disk (by example c:\temp), then rename file "symcjit.dll" (by example "symcjit.old") in directory "c:\temp\Stage\Components\Oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin".
Finally, run Setup.exe in directory "c:\temp\Install\Win32".

Intel says there is a bug in oracle's OUI as well other swing based programs. The solution is to copy the CD to local drive and add -nojit as first parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS e.g. JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS="-nojit -mx32m"
This will enable OUI to run. Even after installing oracle Net80 conf. asst won't start due to same reason.
Go to HOME\admin\tools\ and edit netca.cl and netasst.cl to add same -nojit before -classpath.
Do this for every tool that gives this prob such DBA studio...
