CS4 Link question

Question

There is requirement for our plugin to be able to update image with image of different type , for example in the indesign document the image RS400.eps should be replaced with RS400.psd , I did the change in the plugin and all is fine except that in the link panel triangle with exclamation mark is displayed with following comment “Modified . Double-click to update” ,  once user clicks it all gets updated and it is all fine,  Question is is there a way to force this update without user intervention.
Please note that if file replaced is of the same type eg with replace eps file with eps the same code works without showing triangle and user does not need to do anything,
The following code does the work:

I have found following change does the job
Replace:
  err =  Utils<Facade::ILinkFacade>()
->ReinitResource(UIDRef(theDb,  iLink->GetResource()), linkURI);
with
err = Utils<Facade::ILinkFacade>()->RelinkResource(UIDRef(theDb, iLink->GetResource()), linkURI, K2::kSuppressUI);
