CS4 what happened to Contact Sheet II under Automate?

Just installed CS4 and was checking to make sure all the things I use on a regular basis is there. It seems that the Contact Sheet II has been removed. I found it up here on the download extra plug-in page but still didn't show up when I downloaded the plug-in. Thought I installed them correctly, but maybe not. Need this badly, use it for printing out thumbnails of all photo shoots. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Linda

Hmmm, I didn't know the Output in Bridge was there. Need to check that out. Thanks guys for the heads up on that. If that doesn't work out I'll try to figure out how to install the contact sheet. Or, I could just leave CS3 on the computer and run the contact sheets in there. That might be the easiest solution for now at least until I get Output figured out.
Thanks guys
I have another question about Bridge. I was trying to change the file extensions from psd to jpg on numerous images in Batch Rename and couldn't get it to work. I tried this in CS3 alsoto no avail. When I attempted it in CS3 the images would not show up in Bridge or open in Photoshop. All that showed was a windows icon and I got a "won't open because of program error" when I tried to open them. Now in CS4 I'm getting the thumbnails of the changed files in bridge, but still getting a won't open message in Photoshop when I try to open one. Will this work or am I doing something wrong?

  • What happened to contact sheet?

I have just upgraded to CS4 from CS... what happened to Contact Sheet? As in File>Automate>Contact Sheet? I don't seem to have this in my menu when I go to File>Automate... or, is there a new way to make a contact sheet that has changed from CS-CS4?

If you are anything like me, you will be dismayed by the prospect of making contact sheets in the Bridge PDF output module, instead of file/automate/contact sheet.
I would just encourage you to persist a bit with the output module. I did and wouldn't go back now. Headers, footers, page numbers etc save me a lot of time, and it is much quicker.

  • What happened to Contact Sheets in Adobe Bridge CC

Can you explain the reason why you can not create a contact sheet in Bridge CC? I know you can select all and bring the files into Photoshop and then create a CS, but this takes up too much RAM. Why did Adobe get rid of the output panel in Bridge CC. I teach Photoshop at a local college and would like to know Adobe's rationale as I prepare for a new workflow for my students.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheryl

    Hi,
    I found these:
1 - Click on the triangle next to Output Workspace and from that menu choose "reset workspace" (works for Win as well)
2 - If still no result, quit Bridge and go to your user library. OSX specific instructions here: By default the directory is hidden, so choose menu Go in Finder and when you have the drop down menu in view press option key to reveal the user library. Then use this path: Application Support / Adobe / Bridge CC / Workspaces. In this folder find and delete the file called: "!!-$$$AdobeOutputModule.workspace".
Let me know if you need the Win specific path.
    regards,
    steve

  • CS4 Bridge - Image and Contact Sheet Problems (Windoze)

Problem #1: Out of shear chance, the first directory that I picked on that contains press images, resulted in Bridge not displaying thumbnails, or even being able to work with the image, because Bridge declares that the JPEG file is not a JPEG image. But, here is the kicker, when creating the thumbnails, it does briefly display a thumbnail before replacing it with the JPEG icon. There is nothing wrong with the images as Photoshop CS4 has no problem working with the same images. Double-clicking on the JPEG icon in Bridge results is it calling Photoshop to display the image. Lastly the images were created with Photoshop CS3 on a MAC, as indicated in the EXIF data. I haven't tracked down a pattern yet, as I just installed the software last night. Even so, there is no way that Bridge should have trouble reading CS3 produced JPEG images, but it does.
Problem #2: With the old contact sheet method, one could tell the plugin to include all sub-directories. I can't find a way to get Bridge to do the same thing. If it is there, it certainly is not user friendly. There was nothing online, or in the manual, about how to do that. While I like the idea of producing a PDF of the contact sheets, getting there is not so simple. I'm new to Bridge, having never having the need to use it prior to this release.
Any help with these two problems will be appreciated.

If Bridge can not show the thumbnail, Output workspace can not generate the PDF or web gallery for this image. Because it use the Bridge's DOM to process those images.
For the subfolder issue, you could use the Bridge's 'Show Items from sub-folder'. You could find this option from the directly path list at the tool bar, or from Menu View->Show Items from submenu.

  • CS4 - What happened to InDesign Contact Sheet Tool?

I used this feature all the time. I guess one is supposed to use the "output" feature instead, but it's useful in many cases to have an InDesign file.

    David,
The script takes advantage of InDesign's templating features to do exactly what you want.
The first thing you'll do is create an InDesign template of exactly what you want your document to look like (without the images). In that template, you can set the page margins (the script honors them), and set the styles that control the appearance of the image frames, caption frames, and caption text. You also place static text, such as your copyright and ordering message, as well as your logo and anything else you'd like to have on the page.
To set the style of the image frames, create an object style with the name "images". Some of the features of an object style are control over the fill, stroke, corner options, transparency, drop shadow, feathering, bevel and emboss, etc.
To set the style of the caption frames, create an object style named "captions".
To set the paragraph style of the caption text, create a paragraph style named "labels".
If you don't create these styles, the script creates them for you, so you can adjust all the frames and text just by modifying the styles.
You can also tell the script to directly save the resulting sheet to PDF, and you can set which PDF preset to use when saving.
By mid-day tomorrow, I'll have an example on my site that includes a sample template file and sample output using that template file.
    Thanks
    Bob

  • Updated Budget template - what happened to Transactions Sheet?

I've just updated my Mac, but now the Budget template looks different - and the Transactions Sheet has disappeared. And this was the most important bit I needed to track what my spending habits were last year....
Sadly, can't use any budget software, as nothing is supported in Canada - it's a bank thing. So now I've reconciled myself to the fact that I'm going to have to input all my transactions manually, but spreadsheets are definitely NOT my skillset, so I really need a good template to give me the basics. Any suggestions?

So is there a more automated way to get the info from the downloaded file into the specific sheet on my yearly workbook?
If you want the data in a specific table on a specific sheet, then your copy-and-paste routine is probably the easiest. In Numbers 3 you can paste tab-separated data into a table. Pasting comma-separated data doesn't work well, though. You can open a comma-separated file but then it ends up in a new document.
If you are importing csv files a lot, Badunit and I came up with an Automator Service that allows you in Finder to right-click on a dowloaded file containing comma-separated data, make a choice from the contextual menu, and get the data on the clipboard in a format that can be pasted anywhere you want in Numbers.  If that is of interest, post and I'll dig up the link.
(It is possible to automate this even further than that and specify the exact table so pasting is not even needed, etc., but that is probably not worth the candle.)

  • What happens to contacts' groups once you enable iCloud?

In the Contacts program (i.e. Address Book), I enabled iCloud.  I now have 2 listings along the left side: "iCloud" and "On My Mac."  All my contacts look good, and did move over to iCloud and I don't have duplicates.  (I believe I moved everything over to iCloud by dragging and dropping all my contacts from the "On My Mac" section to the new "iCloud" label.)  But, the groups that I've created over the years in Address Book didn't move over to iCloud.  For instance, I have a group called "Live in New York" with 15 contacts in it.  Some of those contacts are in other groups, too, such as "Family," and "College."
I can't imagine I need to re-create all my groups manually now that I'm using iCloud instead of "On My Mac" to manage my contact cards, do I?
    Thanks for the help.

Csound1, I tried that, with no luck.  It just got me back to where I was before.  Here's a screenshot of the Address Book program now.  The 3 items that start with "-Geo: ... " are the first of the groups that I created for my Address Book contacts.

  • Biz cards, what happens after the sheet is laid out?

    Hi guys,
    I use Pages '08
    Printing, slitting?
How does it turn into real biz cards I can hand out? Especially 2-sided cards which have to be printed and slit within narrow tolerances?
    Thanks,
    Raphael

Except Apple's templates do not fit any prescored business card sheets I know of.
Home printed Business Cards speak volumes of your professionalism, stability and temporary currently non-financial status.
Short run quality printed Business Cards from the likes of Moo or VistaPrint are so cheap these days, home made may as well accompany a tin cup in your business plan.

  • Where is Contact Sheet II in CS4?

Just upgraded to CS4 and cannot find Contact Sheet II under File>Automate. Went back to my old CS and pulled up the feature only to find out that when I went under Source Images> Folders>Choose... the chosen folder has all the photos grayed out.I'm on a MacBook Pro.
    Help requested.

    Ann-
I am aware that one can still create Contact Sheets, which is why I referenced
    removing existing
    UI
functionality rather than simply stating Contact Sheet functionality was removed. Removing an existing simple step and making one learn a new way or go find out about a plugin is by definition a
    loss of existing UI functionality.
Such changes are negatives for some upgraders, and add to the high price as reasons to stick with CS3. Note that all the other new methods could have been added without removing the established method.

Only if you installed it there yourself as per the link provided.  It's no longer part of the default CS4 installation, but comes separately:

  • Photoshop CC and Bridge CC - Creating a contact sheet.

I am really frustrated that the process has changed in making a contact sheet as a PDF. I'm trying to follow the instructions on Adobe Photoshop help with little success. Contact Sheet II is not a good option given you have to create multiple Photoshop files. Am I missing something? What happened to the "Output" option in Bridge? If you shoot 300 pictures you end up with 15 separate Photoshop files instead of 1 PDF file. How is this better for a contact sheet? My guess is there is a fix out there that I haven't found yet.
In part of the instructions online you are instructed to..."If the Output space is not listed, open Adobe Bridge Preferences (Ctrl + K on Windows or Command + K on Mac OS), select the Startup Scripts panel, and select Adobe Output Module." I went there but "Output Module" is not an option in the list.
I'm a high school Photography teacher who is learning the latest Photoshop software. Previously I worked in Photoshop CS4 and creating a contact sheet was very simple! My tech department is unable to help so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. This new process is really cumbersome for the students. Thank you.

  • Contact Sheet II Function CS - Resolution altering from pixels/inch to pixels/cm

I am using CS3 with MAC OS X 10.4.11 when I create a contact sheet using File>Automate>Contact Sheet II, I set the 'Resolution' to 72 Pixels/Inch however once the contact sheet is created and I check the image size it has been reset to 28.346 Pixels/cm. This did not happen in CS2
Does anyone know why this is happening? It is annoying as I have to manually reset the Resolution to Pixels/Inch for each Contact Sheet
    Thanks heaps
    Di

    Hi Ramon,
Thanks for your suggestion, however the Preferences> Units and Rulers setting does not have anything to do with the Contact Sheet function. The Contact Sheet function itself asks for the Units (which I set to 'cm' as I want to specify the contact sheet dimensions in cm's). The 'Resolution' is a separate setting that I set to 'Pixels/Inch'. I have a friend who is doing exactly the same thing as me and the Resolution gets set correctly as 'per/inch' in the final contact sheet. Their Unit/Rulers preference setting is CM so this proves that it is not related to the contact sheet function.
The reason I don't think that the preferences is the issue is because this behavior is happening on 3 separate installations on 3 separate machines.
I will try this anyway and see how I go?
    Cheers
    Di
