CS6 SetUp Freezes during Configuration

I'm installing 64bit CS6 on a Lenovo M51. (4GB - 64bit)
Getting setup to start took a few tries but I got it to run. Now it's stuck at one point during configuration. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Randy Schirmer

Hi Randy,
What product specifically are you trying to install?
General recommendations:
Wait a while on this configuration screen, maybe its working but just taking a long time?
Disable any anti-virus or security software which might be running in the background and try running the installation again.
Try starting the setup by right-clicking on the installer and choosing Run as Administrator

• Can't install 10.5.4 update: Setup freezes at: "configuring installation"

Hi, I have just finished downloading the Mac OS X 10.5.4 update and when I try to install, it freezes at "Configuring Installation". I have tried to relaunch the installation a few times but in vain.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.
Mathieu.

I have done a hard reboot while it was "configuring installation" and didn't get any problems, now I don't know for "running installer script", but I don't think it will compromise your OS.
I have call a friend who is Apple Certified and he told me that a lot of people are experiencing this kind of problem and that it is usually OK when you re-download the update: http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/AppleSupport_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OSX/downloads/061-4758.20080626.vfgp9/MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.4.dmg
So, I am re-downloading and there is 53.26% left (about 2 hours left with my connection!!)! Will let you know ASAP.

• HT1338 os x 10.5.4, update search, updates to 10.5.8, downloads, restarts, freezes during configuration. i'm not a techie, please answer a fix for this layperson.

after a software update search an update is found, it is downloaded, restarts computer, but during the configuration it freezed at about 15% done. how can i update? i'm a non-techie.

Some general advice on updating Leopard:
It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
Now proceed as follows:
4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious! In fact a second restart can be recommended.
9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a week or two while you regularly check their websites for updates.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up.  If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for  problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
/Library/InputManagers
~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

• New MBP 15 retina (mid 2014) freeze during initial setup - any issues?

Hi all - just picked up a new retina MBP 15 base model (integrated graphics / 256GB / 16 GB RAM).  After turning it on for the first time and running the initial setup the computer froze on the diagnostics and usage page (after I clicked continue).  I had also setup an account and named the computer.  After about 25 minutes of seeing a spinning beach ball, I held down the power button for a hard shut down.  I turned it back on and it went through the initial setup process without issue (although I had to create a different user account since the previous one was recognized).  The computer was pre-loaded with Yosemite and I immediately updated the software with the latest patch.  Also, I noticed both user accounts I had made were stored, so I deleted the first one that I created during the failed setup.
Should this be a cause for concern?  Everything seems to be working properly outside of the initial setup freeze.  Have any other users experienced this?  Also, I had thought the macbook would have had Mavericks on it and that a manual upgrade to Yosemite would have been required.  Is this an issue with Yosemite?  Apologies for several questions in one post.

Hi there again.
I didn't had any of the problems you mentioned (45' minutes setup). We tried along with AppleCare to make a new partition to the hard disk in order to install OS in that one and boot the machine from it. It didn't help as the machine didn't let me to make a partition. Later on we swiped the hard disk and at the moment where you choose the hard disk to install OS, there wasn't any to choose. Returned the machine to the store I bought it and they sent it to the authorized service center where they told me that the machine just didn't have any OS installed.
I asked them why there isn't any hard disks available and they told that there was a problem to the file sector of the hard disk. They repaired it and they sent the machine back to me. Regarding why the machine came with Mavericks and not with Yosemite, I suppose that they had the machine in stock (knowing that Yosemite was released after the MBP mid-2014).
There are still some problems I don't like at all. Safari - opened pdf in browser - fully loaded, scrolling down...cracks.
I'm not happy at all. That was my first purchase on Apple's computers and I don't know if I will do it again.
By the way, I noticed the same performance in other computers as well. (click on "About this Mac", then click on "Overview, Displays, Storage" etc. There, I see cracks on graphics between the change to other tabs.)

I am new to this forum, so not sure where to post this.
When I click on the icon to start Photoshop CS6, it freezes at "Measuring Memory".
I tried to uninstall Photoshop but the uninstall will not work.  I tried to reinstall with the disk but Windows will not start the setup file.

• Server 2012 freezes during setup at the "installing updates" step

I'm trying to install server 2012 standard on an IBM blade HS22V "7871".  Server has SAN attached storage.  Server freezes during installation setup at the "installing updates" step.  I have tried install booting off of
a USB drive and DVD drive with the same results.

Im unable to boot in safemode because windows has not completed the OS install.  The install is stuck in the setup at the installing updates step.  It will sit there for days or until you crash the server.  This is what I have done so far:
installed 2008r2 on the same LUN/SAN without issue
Updated Blade to the latest BIOS/Firmware.
Using the most current IBM ServerGuide "9.51" for hardware drivers.
Attempted install in both UEFI and Legacy mode
Attempted 3 separate install medias "cd and usb"made from ISO not cd copy
Verified we only have 1 LUN 1 Volume Group and 1 Path
Attempted 4 different blades and 3 different chassis. Same results.
We have a HP/3Par T400 SAN that I can successfully install server 2012 on.  This is our old Test SAN.  We  have our new 3par 7400 SAN that is now our production SAN that we are unable to build server2012 on.

• Photoshop CS6 intermittently freezes with no error

Photoshop CS6 periodically freezes on my iMac running 10.9.5. It did the same thing on 10.9.4. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling; this did not help. I don't use any plug-ins and haven't modified Preferences. When it freezes, there is no error message, but I cannot move the main Photoshop window, nor can I click on any buttons or move sliders or use any of the options in panels. Curiously, I can pull down menus in the top menu bar (File, Edit, Image, etc.) but since these menu options open dialog boxes that are not functional, I'm pretty much dead-in-the-water.
If I open the Force Quit Applications window (Cmd-Option-Esc), Photoshop looks like it is running normally, i.e. it doesn't say "Not Responding". If I Force Quit anyway and restart, Photoshop behaves normally for a while (time varies) and then freezes again.
This behavior does not seem to be associated with any particular action or command that I can discern. If I don't Force Quit, then Photoshop eventually recovers on its own and starts working normally for awhile before freezing again. Anyone have suggestions for corrective steps?

2.BIOS version: AMI V3.70
3.External VGA Type: ATI Radeon VE 7000 AGP 128Mo

6.Power Supply Type: Heden PSXA870 380W with -5V output
7.Operating System: Win XP Pro Sp2
8.Problem Description:
When accessing to hardware monitor setup page in BIOS, I get a freeze that I can olny escape by Ctrl Alt Suppr.
I have made an update of Bios to V3.70 because a new module of memory I have bought make problems. This update do not change anything, so I remove this new module and don't use anymore.
But by updating, my CPU clock down to 1050 Mhz instead of 1333Mhz, due to FSB set to 100Mhz.
And impossible to access the page to set the parameter at 133Mhz due to a freeze.
How to solve the problem and get back the right configuration I had before ?
I have read that the problem may come from the power supplies that don't have -5V. I don't know what produce my PS, but how to prevent BIOS to check this -5V ?
EDIT : I have check my PS and it produce -5V.
Many thanks for your hlep.

Merry Chrismas everydody.
Back with happy news :
- I have flash with v3.7 : flash OK
- Still getting the problem : hardware monitor page setup freeze, and unable to set FSB to 133Mhz and get the right CPU clock.
So, my solution :
- Looking for editing the AMI Bios file.
- I have load v3.70 Bios file in editor, and only change one parameter : I have set not active the -5V check in hardware monitor module.
- Save my new bios file (called it v3.71)
- Then, flash with that edited bios file
- And manage to access the Hardware Monitor Setup page to set the FSB at 133Mhe. No more freeze.
I don't know how to call this type of solution, but it works well.
For moderators, you can modify the subject by adding [solved] if you want.

• WDS "windows setup could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware"

I use WDS on a 2008 R2 server to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit custom images to a variety of devices within our enterprise. This has worked flawlessly for two years. I have three desktop models and three laptop models (all HP) that share
a common .wim image. I PXE boot a desktop and choose the image file to deploy. It deploys like magic - until this past week. HP sent us a replacement drive for warranty repair on one computer and on that one PC I started seeing the "Windows setup
could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware" message after deploying Windows 7. The image deploys just fine, the computer reboots just fine, services are set up, all devices are detected. As soon as "Setup is installing devices" hits
100% and the "Setup is applying system settings" phase begins, that message appears. After researching the error and pulling the logs that Microsoft's KB 2466753 describes, it seemed that my problem was related to an "Advanced Format"
disk in that new computer. What I don't get is that they state that this problem was resolved in SP1 (which is what I'm deploying!). So, I started downloading storage drivers to my boot image thinking that maybe a newer driver would fix things. Eventually
(many drivers later), I got the new hard drive to successfully take my Windows 7 image. Here's where it all went to pieces. No sooner had I corrected the problem on that ONE machine, that none of my other machines would successfully re-image. After
2 years of flawless operation, now all my computer models exhibit this same error (except the one with the new replacement drive). After recreating my boot image in WDS (being sure to pull it from a Win 7 SP1 DVD) and adding every driver in WDS practically,
I've gotten all but one particular model to successfully image. No matter what drivers I add (keep in mind, that no drivers have been removed
from WDS during any of this process), the HP z210 desktops I use will not accept the image. Microsoft suggests flipping BIOS settings but why the heck would I want to do that on every machine when their BIOS settings have never been a problem
before this? They also say I should only need to download special Intel drivers if my disks are set up with RAID - which they are not. Anyway, as a test, I inserted a standard Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit DVD (same one I used to extract my boot.wim)
and installed Windows on that model with no trouble at all. I only get this error when deploying through WDS. I'm at my wits end and would appreciate any and all help at this point.  Thank you!

Hi,
Based on my understanding, the current situation is all other computers deployment is fine but z210 desktops.
If so, it seems like you have the incorrect driver in WDS for that particular computer z210 desktops you used.
I suggest install it from WDS without driver for test.
In addition, you can post this issue in
Setup Deployment to check the WDS setting issue.

When Parent company have the SAP implemented and the management wants the SAP implementation for the New company(like in the case of Merger & acquisition or new company setup with different business.) in that case
consultant use the parent company's organization structure and with little modification in the configuration implement the SAP. That project is called as the Rollout project.
You can take Example of hul (hindusthan unilever limited). At First hul has implemented SAP for 4 palnt and later they extended SAP to all the Remaining plants with different business processes thru Rollout.

I'm having a problem capturing video....it mostly captures although I get "freezes" where the sound continues but the video frames are dropped. If I leave the Quit capture upon dropped frames I can't capture too much as the freezing happens about every 15 to 30 seconds. Any help?

Tom,
Same issue here. I've been capturing well with the same setup months ago and have not had this issue until now.
The video "freezing" happens during writing to the hard disk during capture. Using Activity Monitor, you can see 2 second "bursts" of data written to disk every 30 seconds. The video in the capture window freezes during these bursts.
Activity Monitor also shows zero bytes of data being written to disk in between the bursts, but that doesn't seem right, because I know the video is being captured. (You can play it back in FCE)
The freezing can be seen during capture and when playing the captured clip in the viewer. Audio playback is fine.
I tried 3 different Scratch Disk settings with the same results:

External FW 800

Analog VCR input into Canopus (Default settings on Canopus)
