Currency translaiton...Question..

The currency translation difference generated by FXTRANS logic on all balance sheet account is posted to 'Currency Translation Difference(CTA)'account which is balance sheet type account.
What about the currency translation difference on the Income statement account. Is it posted to CTA account in balance sheet or to some income statement account itself.
Where is normally posted to..
Appreciate inputs..

CTA tends to be generated when there is a difference between an opening, movement and closing balance in a different currency.
Eg.. Opening =100, Movement = +20, Closing = 120 in LC may look like
Opeming = 500, Movement = 105 , Closing = 615  in a reporting currency, so the CTA should be =10 in this example.
I have not come across CTA in income type accounts, only baalnce sheet accounts where a movements recnciliation is required (where a ACCDETAIL dimension is often used).
Hope this helps

When the currency translation is executed..it overwrite the reporting currency by new amount.

    Hi Doodwala,
I'm not sure I'm following your question 1. Do you mean that you want to track the difference between the new and old reporting currency amount when the LC amount changes? Or do you want to track the change in the translated amount if the rate changes (or more likely using a different rate)?
If your audit requirement is to track every record change then it is going to be very arduous to do this in a custom way. I'd recommend looking into the delivered audit trail functionality to see if that meets your requriements. There is a bit of information about this functionality here: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/e1/8999faf82c4a61acd65683a8cedafe/frameset.htm]

  • OBIEE Multi Currency Conversion Question

    Hi,
We are implementing BI with the Financials Dashboard and currently the default currency displayed is in USD$.
We would like to add a filter for each dashboard and allow users to choose between 4 currencies:
    1. Local Currency
    2. Reporting Currency Daily (USD at Constant daily/monthly corporate rate)
    3. Reporting Currency Current Year (USD at Constant current year corporate rate)
    4. Reporting Currency Previous Year (USD at Constant previous year corporate rate)
Please would you know the best way to add this filter and setup the solution in BI?
Do we need to use Global Rate, Variables...?
    Thank you,
    Ben

    Hi,
We input the data into currency member called 'Local' and based on the currency conversion it will be converted into reporting currency.
If you want to enter the currency other than the base currency for an entity, you need to enable the option of enable multi currencies in Other options in the Manager dataforms. While inputting the values you need to give the currency after the value.

  • Currency Conversion Question

    Hello,
I have a  user who would like to enter the target currency type and  the target currency value via a selection screen. In other words, bypass the currency translation table.
Is there a standard scenario that can accomplish this requirement ?
    Thanks
    Dorothy.

    Hi
You can do currency conversion at information building level or query level.
At infoprovider level, you can use standard function module:RSW_RATE_GET_BASIC to get rate for given source and target currencies.
Check: Currencies conversion at query level

  • Currency Type Questions.

    Hi,
I have few questions but can't find any answer in Oracle Manuals... I guess some of you had something similar:
1.If we have multiple sets of books (4), each of them require an exchange rate to be entered manually, Can we enter an exchange rate in one place one time instead of 4 times?
2.Can a Corporate rate be blocked for a specific user?
3.Can the Corporate Rate to be disabled as DEFAULT and replaced with a Spot rate, for example?
    Thanks for your help, guys!!

    The first question was answered, it is possible to enter exchange rates in one book and it appears in all others automatically since we share one DB for all our books;
Two others questions are still not answered...

  • Display Currency Value of User POV for Entity & Value in Text Box (Header)

I am looking for a function in Financial Reporting Studio that operates the same as the HsCurrency function in Smart View. This would allow batch reports displaying the currency value of the User POV for Entity based on the User POV for Value. Right now I have to have Member Lists for separate reports and different currencies as I am only able to display the Value dimension in the heading of a given report. Users will not be certain of the currency if the Value dimension is <Entity Curr Total>.
I tried the HFMCurrency text function, however the entity is not defined in a Row / Column / Page reference as the entity is determined by the User's Point of View.
Is there a way to display the currency value of a User's Point of View for Entity based on the User's Point of View for Value?
Reference from Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition, User's Guide:
    HsCurrency
Data sources: Financial Management, Hyperion Enterprise
HsCurrency retrieves the currency value of the specified dimension member. Entity and Value are the only valid members for the HsCurrency function.
    Syntax
    HsCurrency (“Connection,Entity;Value”)
    Example
In this example, HsCurrency retrieves the entity currency where the currency for the East Sales entity is USD, and the currency for the UKSales entity is GBR. The EastSales entity displays USD, and UKSales displays GBR.
    HsCurrency(“Comma”,”Entity#EastRegion.EastSales;Value#<Entity Currency>.”)
    HsCurrency(“Comma”,”Entity#EastRegion.UKSales;Value#<Entity Currency>.”)

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks fr the info. that u all hv given ..... I ran one program frm our side which will be updating the transfer exchange rates as u all have mentioned. But then , i am receiving the warnings.
    Also,when i have checked the conversion rates,they r fine.
Please find the Below diagnosis ,which they hv given.
    Diagnosis:
The exchange rate 301.149,42529- was calculated via the base currency USD. This produced a rate which exceeds the      maximum allowed value of 9999.99999.
    System Response:
The processing can not be continued because the calculated rate can not be used.
    Procedure:
Check the conversion rate to the base currency USD and the exchange rate type E. If the rates are correct, you must agree different conversion factors for the currencies in question (e.g. 100:1 instead of 1:1), so that the resulting conversion rate does not exceed the value 9999.99999.  Notification Number SG 119 .
Please solve this issue. Thanks in advance!

  • Need help in currency conversion

i am doing currency conversion at query level.
i am getting this error message for the output.
    Diagnosis
The exchange rate 19.334.782,61- was calculated via the base currency INR. This produced a rate which exceeds the maximum allowed value of 9999.99999.
    System Response
The processing can not be continued because the calculated rate can not be used.
    Procedure
Check the conversion rate to the base currency INR and the exchange rate type MA. If the rates are correct, you must agree different conversion factors for the currencies in question (e.g. 100:1 instead of 1:1), so that the resulting conversion rate does not exceed the value 9999.99999.
    Notification Number SG 119
how do i change that factor from 1:1 to 100:1 , which is mentioned above ?

    Hi,
    thanks for reply.
But changing in SPRO ->  is just the display option.
But the issue that is being faced is with the currency conversion in the query.  since the rate for that currecny maintained in tcurr table is a very small value, the conversion is not happening and its displayed as it is in the query output.
also, we cannot go with the option of changing the ratio in tcurr table for this currency, because there are so many dependent objects and then we have to change some logic for all those to incorporate this rates. and our Basis team has mentioned that changing the ratio will not be done because of this.
how do i go about?  whether any other methods available?

  • Delete currency values while using cells

Hello experts, we are having trouble with Currency Key (0CURRENCY) values. On a certain query, we are using cells (we have one structure in rows and another one in columns). For all key figures in which Currency Key is used, the value of the currency in question appears on every cell. We need to eliminate this value, if possible show the value alongside the key figure (if the key figure is in columns, the value would be shown at the top).
I know that one solution is to use NODIM function over the key figure, and I also know that changing scaling factor can show both the selected factor as well as the currency alonside the key figures. However, both solutions are feasible when not working with cells. The main problem we have is that this query has around 400 cell values (due to this, the query runs much more slowly than other queries, even in the Query Designer), so changing everything (every single cell) to the formula that uses NODIM will take too long. And for some reason, changing the scaling factor over the key figure is not working. I also tried changing the scaling factor over the non-key figure structure, but it did not work. Finally, I tried selecting all values of the individual cells and changing the scaling factor, but it did not work either.
Is there an easier way, or should we create the key figure with the NODIM function and have all cells use it?

In the end we decided to do it manually, although it took a very long time to finish.

  • In what steps does currency conversion take place in BW?

    Hi Experts,
could someone explain me in what steps BW performs the currency conversion making use of the TCUR....  tables.
E.g. we have a certain rate and ratios in TCURR table but these are overruled by settings in TCURF (alternative exchange rate) table.
We did an SQL trace but I did not understand why various steps are done.

  • Currency translation IDR to EUR

    Hi
I got below error please suggest me
Calculated conversion rate 16.422,14112 is too big
    Message no. SG119
    Diagnosis
The exchange rate 16.422,14112 was calculated via the base currency EUR. This produced a rate which exceeds the maximum allowed value of 9999.99999.
    System response
The processing can not be continued because the calculated rate can not be used.
    Procedure
Check the conversion rate to the base currency EUR and the exchange rate type M. If the rates are correct, you must agree different conversion factors for the currencies in question (e.g. 100:1 instead of 1:1), so that the resulting conversion rate does not exceed the value 9999.99999.
As per standard i have maintained the translation ratio : IDR to EUR : 10,000 : 1. Wherein if i maintain 1 : 1 ratio the system is processing without error. But logically that is not right. We are maintained as direct quote. We are unable to create any PR.

  • Possibility of multi-currency in OBIA 7.9.6.2 financial anlytics

    Dear Gurus,
We are implemented OBIA 7.9.6.2 – Financial analytics, Proc & spend analytics and SCM analytics for a Europian client for source Oracle EBS 11.5.10. Using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
This clients business organisations are there in various countries in the EUROPE like Denmark, Poland, Finland etc… In EBS each country is having separate SET_OF_BOOK_ID (similar to Ladger ID R12).
    Parameter values given in DAC.
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE = EUR
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE = DKK
    $$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE = DKK
Presently showing all the out of the box reports in EURO currency successfully.
As per the client requirement we have to show financial analytics report in multiple currencies
EX: take Balance Sheet or Cash Flow report, both of these reports belongs to General ledger dashboard.
User1 want to see above reports in EURO
    and
User2 wanto see same reports in DKK
They need kind of currency_type dashboard prompt and select currency_type and see the reports.
My actual question is: Is this possible in OBIA 7.9.6.2 as all measures are calculated in BMM layer by using Global1_amount and they are huge?
Please remember that there will not mejur changes to happen.
If possible how dynamically it happens? What kind of changes we need to do?
Thanks in advance for the clarification / suggestions.

    Hi,
I am not sure if you got the answer for your question. I am also in search of the answer for a similar question. As per my understanding from the OBIA documentations, the ETL process of OBIA will redo the conversion of the transactional amounts provided the conversion rates for the currencies in question are available in the GL Daily Conversion rates table. And OBIA provides 3 global currncy options (as per the same currency parameters that you have listed in your query below) as the reporting currency choices for the users. As per my understanding these three currency options will be available for the users as the options to choose in the reporting / presentation layer. I am curious to know if this understanding is correct. If you are through your OBIA implementation by this time you may be in a postition to clarify this.
The actual question I am trying to seek is "Is this a correct approach to redo the conversion all over again while the transaction tables in Oracle EBS tables are already storing the converted amounts and the conversion rate details in the transaction table itself ? Does this not leads to the rounding and therefore accruacy issues ? What about those cases where fewtransactions being done by users using special conversion rates (conversion rate type = "User")?" Doesn't this behaviour leads to the capturing of incorrect converted amounts in the data ware house?

  • Error in Interest Calculation of Dunning Wizard

In our company the Local currency is USD, the system currency is CAD. I am running Dunning Wizard for a BP with two invoices past due. Both invoices are in CAD, however in the interest calculation, the interest amount is shown in USD only which does not make sense, and even when I try to change it to CAD values, it won't let me and give error msg "wrong currency".
    Question:
    1. What is the fix for this problem ?
    2. We are in SAP B1 version 2005, SP1 patch 45. Will this problem be fixed in version 2005 latest patch (56) ? If not, will it be fixed in version 2007?
I do have a printscreen but don't know how I can upload to the thread.

Below is the answer I got from SAP support and I tested it's working. Put it here for the benefit of others who may have the same problem.
    Reference: SAP Note 0000950583
Dunning Wizard displays Local Currency instead BP Currency
    Symptom
When running the 'Dunning Wizard' the interest currency is always set as local currency instead of the business partners currency.
    Other terms
Dunning, wizard, interest, amount, foreign, currency, local, system, LC, SC, FC, MC, display, show, present, SAP Business One
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Solution
    Example:
    Local currency: Currency A
    System Currency: Currency B
    BP Currency: Currency C
The currencies displayed in the Dunning Wizard Recommendation Report are defined under Administration - Definitions - Business partners - Define Dunning Terms.
Interest amount - The interest amount calculated for the invoice. The calculation is done in accordance with the defined dunning term assigned to the customer (by the remaining amount or the amount in the original document).
Use Original Exchange Rate from Invoice: The basis for interest calculation is the local currency this will display the local currency name on the Recommendation Report Dunning Wizard.
Use Current Exchange Rate: The basis for interest calculation will be in foreign currency this will display the foreign currency name on the Recommendation Report Dunning Wizard.
In addition, the interest and total sum displayed in the Dunning Wizard report will be in local currency, and all other values in foreign currency.
To display the interest amount in foreign currency on Dunning Wizard select "Use Current Exchange Rate" on "Define Dunning Terms" this will display the foreign currency name on the Recommendation Report Dunning Wizard.
