Curve fitting: Taking standard deviation into account

Hi,
Using LabView and Curvefitting. Following situation:
I have 15points including their standard deviation. I also have set up my curvefitting with my individual gaussian fitting. Basically the fitting looks good.
But how can i tell labview to take care about my already calculated standard deviation.
I always compare it with my OriginPro fitting (same gaussian equation). If I only take my data X and Y I get the same results.
But when I also indicate my standard deviation (in Origin), meaning X, Y and +-Y I get a more realistic result.
And that is what I would like to do with LabView aswell but there is no possibility to take my +-Y in account, isn't it?
(And no, the Origin VIs for LabView do not offer me this aswell. At least I don't see it )
Anyone a hint?
Thanks in advance

What is the "CurveFitting SubVi"?
sorry, meaning CurveFitting Express.vi
I have an equation like: a+b*10^(-c*(x-x0)^2)
a, b are offsets. x0 is the center of my gaussian curve. and i'm interested in c which describes the width of the gaussian function.
please have a look to the attached file:
- the red dots are mmy data plus the standard deviation (white dots)
- the green fitting curve is labview using the CurveFittingExpress
- the yellow fitting curve is using LabView Non-Linear Fitting with weigthing
- the blue fitting curve is the output I get using OriginPro. As you could see Origin is the only one taking care about the points at the edge (fitting inside the standard deviation)
that means in terms of c:
labview: 0.089
origin: 0.053
x0 is kinda similar. a,b, are different.
that's it.

  • Table of contents file not taking book files into account

    Hi everyone,
I've used Indesign's book panel to manage the chapters in a book that I've typeset. I set up the table of contents style (in a TOC document which is part of the books panel) and made sure that it used all the book chapters when compiling the table of contents by checking the option in the TOC styles diaglogue box.
For some reason, the table of contents is ignoring all of the styles in the chapter files so it's not including anything in the table of contents other than a few headings that are within the file that contains the table of contents.
I'm noticing that Indesign is creating a whole lot of duplicate files with a string of numbers appended to the file name, eg.
    Newbook_Cha531549083577
These seem to duplicates of the chapter files but I have no idea why Indesign is creating them so I'm wondering whether I've got some corruption happening and whether this may be causing the problem with the table of contents.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if yes, is there any solution?
    Really appreciate any advice.

    Peter,
I'm having the same problem as gwh. The TOC won't go beyond the first document. All my style names are the same. I don't have style groups.
To make the book I began with one long document that included all the chapters. I broke it into chapters by copying and pasting into new .indd documents (each one created by Save As from the first) and adding all those documents to the book.
Generating the TOC from the one long .indd document works perfectly. I just can't get it to generate from the book (.indb) doc.
I have all the documents in the book open. I have the first one active (in front). I generate the TOC, and I get only the entries for the first document. Here's a screenshot of my TOC box. I must be missing something really simple, huh?  (I'm using CS5)

  • Absence amount in infotype 2001 without taking wrok schedule into account

    Hello
We are using CATS. For the purpose of available hours of an employee only the total of a week is needed. So for instance 25 h/week. We set up a week workschedule 25h/week with day schedule of 5 hours per day (hours evenly spread over the 25 hour week). However, I run into the problem that when I want to enter a leave in infotype 2001 for a certain day only 5 hours is allowed. But I need/want to enter 8 hours in infotype 2001 (user works 8, 8, 4, 5, 0).
If it works in infotype 2001 then it will also work in CAT2 and CAT6. Can anyone explain me how to set this up. I checked the following:
V_001P_D- Group Personnel Subareas for Attendances and Absences
    V_T554S-Define Absence Types
V_554S_O - Determine Entry Screens and Time Constraint Classes
V_T551C - Define Counting Classes for the Period Work Schedule
V_503_E -Group Employee Subgroups for Time Quotas
V_001P_I - Group Personnel Subareas for Time Quotas
V_556R_B- Deduction rules for absence quotas
    T556C- Counting rule
V_554S_Q - Assign Counting Rules to Absence Types
    V_554Y_B and table V_T554Y
But I got lost somewhere in the tables above, the entries seem fine. I thought I had it with table V_554S_O where I set the availability on 9, but that did not help.  The field "whole day" (P2001-ALLDF) is grayed out next to the field number of absence hours (P2001-STDAZ). We only us HR for CATS purposes.
I think I'm overlooking something for a particular setting in one of the above tables? I'm not an HR consultant so .... tabel V_556R_B is a very cryptic one for me. Further in table T556C I checked and unchecked "Work according to daily work schedule", but still no effect, also other combinations..... Also this table T556C I do not understand....
What I only need is specfic settings so that I can enter more absence hours in 2001 then in the workschedule is permitted. No updates in any other infotypes are necessary. From the help documentation it seems possible, but I don't seem to get it working....
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
We need to implement HR as lean en mean as possible, so time evaluation is no issue. Just want to post 0190 (Leave) in infotype 2001, 8 hours for a workschedule day that for instance only has 5 hours. Else user needs to create 2 lines in CAT2, 5 hours and another on same day with 3 hours. During CAT6 I get the problem that the 3 hours cannot be posted, besides the fact that this workaround is very userunfriendly.
Hoping that setting up infotype 2003 is not necessary, makes just things more complex (HR is just a means to an end for using CATS). Does it mean that I then need to create and absence type that is attached to infotype 2003? How does it work?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Mirko

  • Dynamic availability check not taking reservation accumulation into account

We have 2 production orders for which the availability check had been done and situation is
Finished good has 1 component and the Plant stock of the component is 99 EA.No other receipts are in place.
Order1 is for quantity of 100 EA
    Order2(at a later date than order1) is 1 EA
Post availaility check using COHV, Order1 is confirmed for 99 EA and is with MACM status and order2 has no commitment and is with MSPT status.
Dynamic availability check for CO27 in OMCP config points to the same checking rule we used during the intial material availabillity check.
In the Movement type config 261 movement type is assigned to dynamic avl.check - F  Message in any case: E mess. for non-avail., otherw. S mess.
When we execute CO27 individually for the orders we can trap the error as per availability check commitments as we have seen earlier.
But when we try to input both orders together in CO27 and do a pick list confirmation the second order gets the component issue with the first one not getting posted (expected to be partially to the tune of 99 EA) thereby violating the availability check results ultimately.
Request your help in knowing whether this is the SAP design or am i missing some thing else?

  • Standard Deviation in Graph

Does anyone know how insert standard deviation into a bar graph??
    Thanks.

Ah. The key point that I was missing was that this works (for points or bars) only when the series is selected in the graph. Otherwise the boxes are not enabled.

  • Instance Time taking into account Daylight Standard Time

When scheduling a report, the instance time does not seem to take into account Daylight Standard Time. This is probably because the United States is different than the rest of the world. Any chance this will be fixed in upcoming releases? Either that or I can just wait a few more weeks for the world to catch up.
    Instance Time: 3/27/2009 08:30:21
    Actual Time: 3/27/2009 09:30:21

    Hi Mike,
You are correct, the times you mention do not take the early daylight savings time change into account.
You should see the times become correct again when we hit the original time change date which I think would have been Sunday April 5 this year.

  • Tax calc. during invoice post - taking unplanned del cost into account

    Hi all
Iam posting an invoice in Miro for a p.o
    i have material cost,unplanned cost
Iam using a input Tax of 5% which should only take Material cost into
    account while posting.
but in my case it is taking the unplanned del cost also for calculation
can you pl. let me know where the changes are to be made so that only material
cost is to be taken for tax calculation.
    for eg
    material cost -- 100
    tax               -- 5.0%
    unplanned del cost -- 10
so my inv. value should be -- 115.00
where as it is taking as -- 115.50.
    regards
    Prasanna

    Hi srinivas
    Thanks for your inputs
    This is the present scenario.
We are distributing Unplanned del cost among the line items.
    1. without having the Config made ( in OMR2)
We can still post the Invoices with Unplanned delivery cost
(without clicking the Calculate tax button )
    by adding the
    1. unplnd del cost in invoice details
2.clicking the Net proposal button on tax tab view
    3. enter the total amt on basic data
4 when we are simulating we are getting
    Warning message *********Twice ******
as Tax entered incorrect (code V4, amount 5.50), correct 6.05 eur
Message no. FF 707. and then we get the
5 We have to click the continue button twice
6 then we get the Invoice data view
7 when we click post , then again the
    above warning message appears,
8  then we click continue button then it allows us to post.
correct me if the above process is wrong
    My question :-
            1.  is this the standard functionality when using unplanned delivery cost  (without tax calculation )
           2. Can we apply some OSS so that this message appears only once.
    Thanks

  • Does anyone know how LabView determines standard deviation on their Gaussian Peak Fit VI?

The VI reports standard deviation that is quite high. I am wondering if they go out to 5-sigma or something along those lines.
If anyone has had this same issue, please let me know
    Thanks in advance!

Interesting you mention the robustness of the algorithm. I have heard in the past that it is not very good. In fact, the data you feed into it must be VERY Gaussian otherwise the fit is just garbage. Luckily for me, my data is quite clean, see the attached picture.
You also mention Levenberg-Marquardt. Is a VI available somewhere or would I need to write my own?
    Thanks for your prompt reply!

  • Planned orders are not taking into account the processing time

    Hi,
Could you please tell me why planned orders quantities are not based on processing time from the material master.
Materials was set before with 1 day in house production , no matter of lot size.
Based on routings I updated material master with processing time depending on lot size.
What is bottering me now is that planned orders are not taking into account processing time. (e.g.  based on my processing time 1000 pce are produced  in 3 days, but planned orders show me that 1000 pce are still need  in 1 day , but it  can not be produced in 1 day   ).
    what did I miss?
Thanks a lot for any information!

    Hello Simona
The in house production time from tab MRP 2 is lot size independent.
However, on tab work scheduling you can define a lot size dependent times.
Please observe that, if you have entered an in house production time, the processing time will not be considered. The F1 help of the field provides the following explanation:
You can define work scheduling times in the material master record in one of two ways:
Either you enter the in-house production time. If required, you can get the system to update this value from the routing.
Or you enter the setup, teardown, processing, and interoperation times. If you maintain these values, the system determines the in-house production time on the basis of lot size.
Therefore, if you want to consider the processing time, you should remove the in house processing time.

  • How to approach authorization taking data into account (?)

    hi
I have been similar to "Introduction to ADF Security in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2" for an approach to authorization taking data into account.
For example to solve something like this:
Some users should be able to update SCOTT.EMP.SAL, but only for those records where they "are manager" (e.g. based on SCOTT.EMP.MGR).
Because the current (10.1.3) "OracleAS JAAS Provider" Re: ADF Security : custom SecurityContext seem to provide the API hooks or customization features I think I need for this, I tried the following approach:
    (1) A solution implementation should preferably be "JAAS like", using classes from the "java.security" package like java.security.Permission or java.security.AccessControlContext etc. This way it is more likely to be future proof and could possibly more easily be integrated with future JAAS solutions from Oracle.
    (2) To minimize dependencies in my application, I introduced only one custom interface that does what I really want to do, that is "to check permissions":
    package accesscontrolstuff.common.security;
    import java.security.AccessControlException;
    import java.security.Permission;
    public interface PermissionChecker
         public void checkPermission(Permission pPermission)
              throws AccessControlException;
}(3) It should be possible to easily check permissions in the business service implementation (ADF BC) and the view/controller layer (JSF managed beans).
I have created an example application that implements this approach (check README.txt) :
    http://verveja.footsteps.be/~verveja/files/oracle/AccessControlStuffApp-v0.01.zip
It has an updateAllEmp.jspx page that has a button for each EMP row to give a raise (that is update SCOTT.EMP.SAL). It will show an error message when the user is not allowed to give a raise.
It has an updateSomeEmp.jspx page that has a button only for the EMP rows where the user is allowed to give a raise.
    question :
All suggestions for improvement, on the approach or the example application, are welcome.
(using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 : ADF Business Components and ADF Faces)
    regards
    Jan Vervecken

Thanks for you reply Frank and for going through the example.
(a1) about "... the example could be coded without JAAS in the application as well ..."
I'm not sure I understand when an application is "with JAAS" or "without JAAS" (in an Oracle context)?
(The AccessControlStuffApp-v0.01.zip example includes an orion-application file that has a jaas-mode configured, which I could probably use for an implementation variation the works with a javax.security.auth.Subject instance, but the current implementation works with the "no jaas-mode" variant using the getUserPrincipalName() method.)
(a2) about "This makes it hard to manage security roles ..."
I don't think I understand. For the example, all authorization configuration is in the EMP table, why would that be hard to manage?
What alternative would you suggest to "manage" security on the EMP table as is intended in the example?
(a3) about "I think the required enhancement would be to add the dynamic permissions to an existing ADFSecurityContext ..."
That sounds like what I have been looking for (see forum thread "ADF Security : custom SecurityContext").
(a4) about "... and make this available to the business service as well ..."
    That would probably be useful.
    see also http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/adfsecurity/adfsecurity_10132.html
that says : "The defense-in-depth security design pattern demands that application developers implement application security with multiple lines of defense. ..."
Thank you for pointing developers to this thread.

  • Taking Resources Allocation memory reservations into account with CIQ 1.5

    Hello all,
I am trying to use CapacityIQ (1.5.2) to estimate how many more VMs can fit in our environment.  Unfortunately Capacity IQ appears to be estimating a _much_ larger number of available VMs (CIQ says space for 49 more VMs; Resource Allocation tab suggests room for ~1 more VM).
With the goal of having our VMs run optimally (many of them run java), we tend to use full memory reservations on our VMs, as suggested by VMware (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1008480).  This post (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1601230#1601230) suggests that CIQ does not take memory reservations into account when calculating capacity.  This would be a glaring oversight by VMware; please tell me it's not correct and that there is a setting that can be changed so I _can use_ (aka continue purchasing) CapacityIQ.
    thanks,

  • Making a Bell Curve in Numbers or MS Office for MAC: I already have mean and standard deviation

I hope my question is a simple one with a simple answer: I have the results of a mid-term and the professor gave us the mean and standard deviation of the results of the exam from which he based our grades. I am a visual person and (to be honest) without having to put forth a lot of effort, I would like to see visually where I fall on this, admittedly, artificial curve. I have both Numbers and MS Office on my MacBook Pro. Is there an easy way to create a bell curve using these numbers? It seems like there should be since those are usually the only numbers needed. I just, honestly, don't want to do the tedious work myself.

Statistical functions including several which deal with normal distribution, are discussed in Chapter 10, Statistical Functions, of the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide. This useful guide may be downloaded via the Help menu in Numbers '09. Go to chapter 10, or for a direct route, search 'normal distribution'
For what it's worth, you can find the formula  for calculating the coordinates for the bell curve here: The-Normal-Distribution-Or-Bell-Curve

  • Finder not taking into account local backups when reporting free disk space

Time Machine in Lion (10.7.2) stores local backups of files on your laptop's hard drive when it is not connected to an external Time Machine backup drive. See this article for more information.
If you click on the Apple in the top-left corner of your screen and choose About This Mac > More Info > Storage, you will see exactly how much space your local "Backups" are taking (along with other useful info about how your hard drive space is being used).
Interestingly, the amount of free HD space listed there differes from the amount of free space Finder says is available (when you choose View > Show Status Bar to display it). The amount that it differs is exactly the same as the amount of the local "Backups." So, it appears that Finder is not taking those local Backus into account when it displays free disk space.
So, Finder is telling me I have almost 100 gigs MORE free space than I actually have. I would prefer Finder to show me how much space I have AFTER the local Backups are taken into account.

The article that you linked to gives the rationale for this:
Note: You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed.
