Custom button ALV to download data to excel and word.

Hai Experts,
   I have a requirement in which i need to add a button on the alv tool bar
    which has the functionality of downloading the data in the alv to
    word/excel/notepad..
i got the prcedure to download the data but my problemis how to capture the data in the alv into an internal table.
if i can capture the column headings and the data into an internal table, my problrm of downloading the data solves.
so please help how to capture the data along with the headings displayed in the
ALV into an internal table.

Hide / add function buttons in your ALV
You can hide all function buttons of the ALV with one of these methods.
* Set toolbar visibility to false. data: lr_function_settings type ref to if_salv_wd_function_settings. lr_function_settings ?= wd_this->r_table. lr_function_settings->set_visible( CL_WD_UIELEMENT=>E_VISIBLE-NONE ). * set default ALV Functions off data: lr_standard_functions type ref to if_salv_wd_std_functions. lr_standard_functions ?= wd_this->r_table. lr_standard_functions->set_sort_headerclick_allowed( ABAP_false ). lr_standard_functions->set_filter_filterline_allowed( ABAP_false ). lr_standard_functions->set_filter_complex_allowed( ABAP_false ). lr_standard_functions->set_sort_complex_allowed( ABAP_false ).
You can set individual functions with these methods:

hi all,
i have a situation, i want to download the data of an alv grid display to a excel sheet, is there any other way of doin it other than choosing from the List menu, coz when i click the excel sheet button on the application tool bar i get a blank excel sheet, do i need to pass any parameters ??? can any one plz gimme the funtionality of this.

Hi Vijay,
Please open Microsoft Excel from your system and then create some entries (ex. having 3 columns and 3 rows). Save this file to some location in your system. Later you will need to give the location path of this saved file when uploading it from your web dynpro application.
Creating of an Excel file (i.e the 4th step) is no where related to Web Dynpro and NWDS.

Download functionality in EXCEL and PDF format to the Webdynpro iView

I am using NW 7.0 ehp1 sp3. I developed some Webdynpro RFC model application for the product catalog of the material related data.
Now my requirement is to provide the download functionality in EXCEL and PDF format to all of these Webdynpro (java) iView.
How we can achieve this requirement? In which part of the webdynpro application we have to write the code?
Someone can help me very clearly in steps to achieve this?

Hi,
I don't think it is possible to redirect the html stream of the Web Dynpro iView to a PDF / Excel document, since it essentially would mean you have to call the Web Dynpro application again, maintaining the state and context of the iview itself
However, using (for instance) the JExcelApi (Excel) or iText (PDF) you could create documents using the data displayed in your Web Dynpro iView, which has the added benefit you could design and layout your PDF / Excel documents in a more suitable layout for printing (most WD applications look horrible when printed)

Missing Header Row When Exporting Data to Excel and Program Runs Slow

Hello all,
I am new to programming. I’ve dabbled with VB.NET at times over the years but this is the first time I’m trying C#. Although, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done any type of programming other than writing SQL queries at work. For the sake of trying to
learn I have given myself a project that is something I can actually use at work. Right now I'm doing it at home. I’m querying a database on SQL Server 2008 R2; putting the data from the DB into a DataViewGrid and then exporting the data into Excel and saving
the file on my C:\ drive. On the form I have two buttons; one that queries the DB and the other to do the export. The code below does work but I have two issues that I need assistance with:
All of the SQL table data goes into Excel properly with the exception of it is missing the header row.
After I click the Export button it takes a long time to create the Excel file. It takes between 2.5 and 3 minutes. It is not a big file (only 447 rows and 125 KB in size) so I don’t know why it takes so long. Does it have anything to do with the number
of times Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel is being referenced? I read somewhere online that is an old COM method although I’m not familiar with what a COM method is
and why it would make things run so slow.
When I click the button to run the SQL query and load the DataGridView it runs immediately.
I plan on taking this project further such as adding date parameters including validation on the dates and then maybe adding buttons that can be used to insert, update and delete records. But I don’t want to go any further until the two issues mentioned
above are resolved. Any assistance / guidance will be greatly appreciated. Here’s the code:

I need work in excel and word in my iPed - please guide

You cannot download or install Word or Excel for the iPad. MS has not released an iOS version.
There are MS Office compatible apps available in the app store like Quick Office Pro and Documents to Go. Take a look at those and see what you think. Apple also has their iWorks suite of apps, Pages, Numbers and Keynote that are compatible with the MS Office apps.

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

Make a coma separated file from your excel file.
Assuming that your requirement allows to make a csv file.
This file may be passed as an file object to be read by java.Using JDBC you must be able to populate the data base.You can also use String Tokenizer if needed.
You do not want to go via sql Loader?
For reading the excel file itself do you want java?
