Custom Icon Images for Folders in KM

Hello Everyody,
               I have to display folders such as Pesonal Documents, Public documents, Recently used, Favourites etc which are there in the entry point repository in KM. Right now all these folders are being displayed with the default icon image specified. I want to replace these default images with custom images but couldnt see any property where i can change the image path for these folders. I checked the details of all these folders and even went through the properties but there it shows only the default image name speciefied for that folder and no active settings where i can change the image path for custom icon. Kindly suggest how to implement custom image for KM folder icons.
Thanking you all in advance,
Regards,
Sarabjeet.

Hi,
If I understood, you have a KM navigation iview, where some folders apperar. You want to change the icon for each of them differently.
For this do the following:
First have a look into the KM.navigation iview and get the layout set property. Go to System config->KM->Content management->User interface->Settings->LayoutSet and find the layout set you are using. Go to appropriate resource renderer and check the "<b>Icon setting</b>". Change it to: <b>iconreplace</b>.
Now get the KM details for your folders and change the <b>IconSource</b> property to your image Example:
/etc/public/mimes/images/add.gif
Voila...the icons for these folders are changed!
Hope this is your case.

• Custom icon image for folders not showing up in dock

I have used custom icons for years for various folders so I don't have to read through names of folders to know what's in them. With Leopard (10.5.2), the folder icons are visible up on the desktop and everywhere else; however, when I drag a folder with a special icon to the dock,it becomes a normal blue folder again. Why can't the folder in the dock retain the special icon I have assigned to it?

right click on the folder after placing it on the dock and choose display as folder.

• Custom background image for 7942 IP phones on CCM 6.1.2

All,
i am unable to create the custom background images for the Cisco 7942 IP phone, i am running a CCM version 6.1.2. I have uploaded the Image files and also the List.xml file, but when i click on custom images i dont see the image that i uploaded and it say "no selection available". And also after i uploaded the files i have restrated the TFTP services.Have attached the images and List.xml files.Please have a look @ them and let me know if i am missing something here.
Thanks,

First off, as this is a CUCM question, you'd be better of over in the IP Telephoney forum (
https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/collaboration-voice-video/ip-telephony )
The thing that jumps out at me is the case of the filename. CUCM Runs on Linux which is case sensitive. Try matching the case.
If that doesn't help, try looking at the phone logs or Wiresharking the phone.

• Custom Background image for UITabBar

I'm trying to implement a custom background for a UITabBar, I am able to add an image view to the tab bar, but for some reason the image is at the top of the view rather than at the bottom. How do I position it correctly? Here is my code.
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"tabbarbg.png"];
UIImageView *theImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
tabBgView = theImageView;
[tabBarController.view insertSubview:tabBgView atIndex:1];

Welcome to the forums gravity98...
Try using Interface Builder's 'Tab Bar Item Size' insets to stretch it accordingly...push the top/bottom values around to see the effect. Make sure to select/hilight the icon you're targeting first.

• Creating a custom boot image for Mavericks

Hello Apple Community!
I realize that this question might have been asked a few times already, but I found nothing using the search function (nothing that satisfied me, that is).
My task is simple: We have several different Macs at the office (Mostly MacBook Airs and Pros, some iMacs too) and whenever a new employee join us, I need to install all the software for that person. That is a bit of a cumbersome and repetitive process, so I wanted to know if and how it would be possible to create custom, universally working (i.e. on all different models that we're using at our institute) disk images that contain all the preinstalled software packages that we're using....
We are using Mavericks ATM, but we will migrate to Yosemite eventually (though not until I stop hearing people complain about Yosemite's apparent random bugs).
Is there a guide to this somewhere? Would someone please point out where I could find such information?
Thank you guys.

I created my own simply by installing OS X on an external USB drive then booting into that drive, setting up just an Administrator account, installing all the software I needed and set it aside.
If I ever need to reinstall OS X, I boot into the USB's Recovery HD and run Disk Utility's Restore function pointing my Source to the USB drive and Destination to the Mac's internal drive.

• Importing photos - custom icon images

Whenever I import photos from a digital camera into iPhoto, the icons in finder are thumbnails of the actual photo. Is there any way to prevent this from happening, and have all the files have the default icon?

Yes. While in the a folder in the icon mode select the View->Show View Options menu option. Then uncheck the box "Show icon preview" and click the All Windows radio button. That will turn off viewing the icons in the Finder.
If you want it only for one or two folders then do it for those folders and do not select the All Windows option.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• Trouble customizing theme images for resized slide

I am working with Keystation_eclipse pro theme. I originally chose the 1280 X 720 slide resolution. But I am changing the height to 768 to work optimally with the resolution of my projector. When changed, the background image is scaled but the other "primary overlay" image remains at the 720 resolution. I took the the "primary overlay" image and scaled it to 768 in order to resolve the problem. But now the layout with primary overlay image on the background image is not properly aligned. I have no idea how to resolve this layout situation. Any ideas?
click here to the problem image. You will see the gray bars are not pushed all they to the top as they are in the second image. The bottom bar is pushed halfway off the screen:

• How to make an icon image using Photoshop

I found out how to do this recently so I decided that I wanted to make a tut for those who don't know how to make an icon image. This icon image is for the libraries tab on your computer. Under the libararies tab there is Music, Pictures, Documents, and Photos
First you will need the ICO (Icon image format) Format extension for photoshop which can be downloaded here:
http://www.telegraphics.com.au/svn/icoformat/trunk/dist/README.html
The download link and tutorial on how to install it is all in the link above.
Once you have that all set you can now launch photoshop to create your icon image. Once you have launched it, create a new document with the size as in the image below.

Create the image you want. I used a simple one by using the custom shape tool by pressing "U" on your keyboard and with the
basic blending options.

The reason why the image is pixelated is because it is an icon image. Since the image is only 256x256 pixels when you zoom in on it that will get you the pixely result. The reason why I zoomed  in is so you can see it. But don't worry this is no the end result. Just continue reading and you will see.
So once you have created the icon go ahead and press
file>save as>(under format choose the ICO)>and choose the name that you want to name it. And save it in your C: drive. You will see why to save it in your C: drive in a sec.

So now that you have created the icon and saved it now you can create the new library.

Name the library whatever you want I named it "Sample" for tutorial purposes. Notice how it gives you a default boring icon image for your library.

So now once you have created and named your library now it is time to get the icon image into place.
Go to computer/c: Drive/users/YOU/ And now once you have reached this area you will need to access a hidden folder named "appdata" to do so press "Alt" then a menu bar will show. Click
tools>folder options>and view. Find the option to view hidden folders then press apply then ok. Now we shall continue so AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Libraries
Now you should see all the libraries including the one you just created.

Once you have reached your destination then open a new text document with notepad and drag the library you just created in notepad. The result should look like this:

once you have reached this point click at the end of the second to last line down then press enter and enter in this information
<iconReference>c:\"NAME OF ICO FILE YOU CREATED IN PS".ico</iconReference>
Example:

Once you have entered that information go to file>save and the icon image should appear on the library you created.

Now you are officially finished. Go and spread the news and joy. Bye for now
-Dusty951512

It is Windows only because all those screen shots are exclusively Windows, the file structure and paths do not resemble those of the Mac in the least.  As a Mac user, there's nothing I could take from your tutorial.  Sorry,
No drives named with letters like C: on the Mac, for instance.  No backward slashes either, ever.  No such paths either.  No "Notepad" on the Mac, we use TextEdit; but such a text editor is not remotely needed on the Mac to make and/or edit icons.  Etc.
Those folders are not even called "Libraries" on the Mac…  Nothing resembling your tutorial at all.
The icons in the Finder's Sidebar are not customizable at all in recent version of OS X.

• Mystery of the Disappearing Custom Icons

iMac 2.66; 10.6.4
I create simple custom icon labels for the docs & folders in my dock. I type a filename in TextEdit, take a screenshot of it, open the screenshot in GraphicConverter, and copy & paste it into the getinfo window of the doc or folder. Then I drag it to the dock. Now and then, with no pattern or seeming cause, the custom icons on one or more disappear. Some never disappear. Sometimes it'll be weeks with no problem, sometimes hours. I repair permissions twice a week without fail. I have no other issues going on. Anyone know why this is happening? I've searched the fora but can't find similar problems.

• How To Update Custom ItemRenderer (Image) on DataGrid Edit

I have an DataGrid with 2 columns, column 1 called "Name" and column 2 called "Actions".
The "Name" column contains editable text and the "Actions" column uses a (inline) custom ItemRenderer which displays 2 icon images ( for Edit and Delete). All works fine. Clicking Edit or Delete calls the corrosponding outerDocument method.
The feature I am trying to add is as follows: when someone double-clicks on the text in the Name column to edit it, I would like the edit icon in the Actions column to ( grow/shrink, change color  - or some such indication/reminder to click it ). Not seeing how to do this with the inline ItemRenderer, I created a custom item renderer class and, in that class, use mx:Resize to perform the "grow/shrink". I created a method called "pulse()" and, from within that renderer, all works well. ( for testing, I wired the icons click event to the pulse() method ). However, now I am not sure how to call that ItemRenderers "pulse()" method to perform the effect from the main DataGrid (when the user double-clicks on Name field to edit).
The tried using the DataGrid's "itemEditBegin", which fires correctly, but from that point I am not sure how to access the selected rows edit icon in the "Action" column. ( to call its pulse() ) method.
So any suggestions how I can achieve my end result? Being able to manipulate the edit icon in the "Actions" column, when the user double-clicks (edits) that row's "Name" column?
If I'm going about it all wrong, feel free to offer alternative solutions.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
~e

• Applying custom icons to all files of a type

I used to use ResEdit back int he day - and have used various tools on Mac and Windows to change icons. BUt I am stuggling with a default custom icon option for Mac OS X.
I have a set of farily simply icons for use with a number of file types that I use a lot - csv, psl, pti, tp3, xml, cfr, and others and I would like to always have newly created files get the custom icon.
Ideally this would be based on the extension - and they are not all from the same app.
I am not afraid to use the terminal or edit package contents. Although some of them are windows apps - and I already have a custom set in the virtual machine.
Some of the solutions I have seen out there such as Candy Bar seem to be only for application and folder settings.
In a couple cases - such as the .cfr and .pti - the apps do not have an open method where you can double click on the file and have it open - so I woudl be okay with something like reprogramming TextEdit to have the necessary icons and plist updates. Although when I tried to edit the plist file in TextEdit - all I did was render TextEdit unusable.
any help in the right direction will be appreaciated - I find it very helpful when I create 30 to 40 files ( a group of 5 differnet file types for each option ) to have icons that help me determine which ones I need to run a macro against - and which to send the customer - and which to upload to the vendor - etc.
Also missing the colorful icons in the sidebar and iTunes - as well an Unsanity Haxies - guess what audio feedback does make me more productive or at the very least more certain that the system is behaving as I expect.

A new Cocoa-AppleScript application can be created from the AppleScript Editor > File > New from Template > Cocoa-AppleScript Applet menu item, pasting in the following script:
-- set icon
on run -- application double-clicked
        tell current application's NSOpenPanel's openPanel()
            setFloatingPanel_(true)
            setTitle_("Choose file items to set an icon for:")
            setPrompt_("Choose") -- the button name

            setCanChooseFiles_(true)
            setCanChooseDirectories_(false)
            setShowsHiddenFiles_(false)
            setTreatsFilePackagesAsDirectories_(false)
            setAllowsMultipleSelection_(true)
            set theResult to runModal() as integer
            if theResult is current application's NSFileHandlingPanelCancelButton then tell me to quit -- cancel button
            set theFiles to URLs() as list
        end tell
        repeat with eachFile in theFiles -- coerce the file paths in place
            tell eachFile to set its contents to its |path|() as text
        end repeat
        open theFiles
end run
on open theItems -- items dropped onto the application
        try -- get a path to the image to be used for the icon
            set imageFile to POSIX path of (choose file with prompt "Select an image file for the icon:" of type "public.image")
        on error -- cancel button
            tell me to quit
        end try
        set errorList to {} -- this will be a list of problem files, if any
        repeat with eachItem in theItems
            if not setIcon(imageFile, eachItem) then
                set end of errorList to (eachItem & return)
            end if
        end repeat
        if errorList is not {} then -- oops, show items where there was a problem
            display alert "Error setting icon." message "Icons of the following items were not set:" & return & return & errorList as text
        end if
        tell me to quit -- done
end open
to setIcon(imageFilePath, fileItemPath) -- set the icon of a file item
        set mySharedWorkspace to current application's NSWorkspace's sharedWorkspace()
        set myImage to current application's NSImage's alloc's initWithContentsOfFile_(imageFilePath)
        try
            return mySharedWorkspace's setIcon_forFile_options_(myImage, fileItemPath, 0) as boolean
        on error errorMessage
            return false
        end try
end setIcon
After saving, the resulting application can be double-clicked, or you can drop files onto it (the script can't be run from the script editor).  It can be tweaked further to include image files in the application bundle to select from (the icon images can be any image, not just icon files), or to be used in the Finder's toolbar, but for now the basic application should get you started.

• Custom icons not showing up when I drag a folder into the dock

I have a dock in 10.6 (on the left side, going vertical, if that matters). I've dragged a few folders into it, each containing Aliases to various programs. I've set custom icons on these folders, so I can tell at a glance what's in each folder (since it won't fan out for a vertical dock). But even after I rebooted, the dock isn't showing my custom icons but rather kind of an overlay of the various icons in each folder. What am I doing wrong?

• Custom Icon goes with usb peripheral from Mac to different Mac

Okay, so I can change the icon on my usb flash drive to show a custom icon each time I plug it into the same Mac day after day, but what if I want to change to a different computer, say my Mac at home, the icon comes up as the default icon. Can I lock the icon so that it will appear the way I want on any Mac I plug it into?

I took a look at the Adobe PS CS CD, and it did the same thing I do with some of my internal drives, namely, it has a custom icon on the CD ".VolumeIcon.icns" which displays when the CD mounts, just as my own ".VolumeIcon.icns" custom icons do for internal drives. However, when I added a custom .VolumeIcon.icns to my firewire drive the custom icon did NOT display. I tried quitting the Finder and relaunching it, no custom icon. Shutdown the computer and the firewire drive, next time I restarted the firewire drive and it mounted it was still displaying the regular firewire drive icon. Don't know if USB drives would behave like my firewire drive or like a CD, but I expect they will behave like the firewire drive.

In the JNLP file you can specify 3 icon images for 3 different sizes, 64 * 64, 32 * 32 and 16 * 16 pixels.
<icon href="iconStartMenuSize.jpeg" width=16 height=16/>
<icon href="iconDesktopSize.jpeg" width=32 height=32/>
<icon href="iconSplashScreenSize.jpeg" width=64 height=64/>
I know that if you just specify 1, Web Start automatically resizes it to make the other 2. I've heard that in earlier versions of Webstart it only ever uses the first icon you give it, even if you give it 3. Does anyone know if, in version 1.4.2, it will actually use the 3 different images if you supply them?
If nobody knows I'll test it and post the result. This was posted before, I am running into the same problem right now.

can somebody give an answer to this question? I want to put the correct size icon on the desktop, download splash and shortcut.
Thank you
