Customising User display in Nav pane ?
Hi
Installed Identity server 6.1 and interested in using to manage messaging server users. I have installed and configured messaging server and installed the Sample messaging Service in Identity server.
The problem is the Messaging system admin user. It is created under the default organisation for messaging and has both a very long CN and uid (the uid and cn together are almost 80 characters).
The result is that the user list in the nav pane is very wide and must be scrolled to use both sides of it.
I know its not a big deal but if possible I would like to
a) omit the msg-admin-... user from the user list - would an aci accomplish this and if so who should the aci deny access to ?
b) customise the user display in the nav pane so that only either the uid or cn were shown in the list.
Anyone know if either of these or both are possible or is there a better way to do this ?

Unfortunately you are misunderstanding how DUCC works. You don't create it by generating seperate layouts. Instead, you generate a single layout that has DUCC configured.
Basically, you edit the properties of your Single Source Layout recipe. Then you click the Content Categories section.
In this area you define your different categories such as Administrator, aTest Engineer, and Operator by clicking the New button.
Then you edit each category to define the associated TOC and whatnot.
Once you have done this and generated, you should then things should just be DUCC'y!

WebHelp User Centric Drop-down not appearing in Nav Pane
Hi,
I am using RoboHelp 9 and generating WebHelp for three User types - Administrator, aTest Engineer, and Operator. I want each of these to be DUCC selectable from a drop down at the top of the Nav pane and am using the Chrisi WebHelp skin which allows for this.
I have created three different TOCs one for each, and am generating three different single source WebHelp layouts. They each compile fine, but the drop down navigation bar that allows you to select the appropriate WebHelp above the navigation pane (along with the left and right browse arrows) is not visible.
What should I be doing so this appears?
I am a new RoboHelp 9 user.

Customising a users display name AD
Our company wants us to change the users display name from "SN, GivenName" to "GivenName SN (Company)"
I've had a play around with ADSI edit and ad modify etc and while changing the name order is straightforward, I cannot get the "company" to show in the DisplayName. Does anyone know if this is actually possible? And if so how?

Inconsistent display of navigation pane
Hello folks,
Sorry if this has been covered. Did a search but didn't find
a thread that addressed this issue.
I am generating WebHelp via X5.0.2. We use a
context-sensitive system using RH's Map IDs. Each call displays the
correct Help topic. However, sometimes only that topic displays;
other times, the topic displays with the expected nav. pane,
Contents/Search/etc buttons (which is what I'd prefer). I inherited
the current configuration of RH and cannot find out the cause to
this inconsistency.
Any ideas?

SharePoint 2010 Web Analytics showing user Display Name and Account Name from the same user
Hi!
Since July, 16th 2012 the Web Analytics Daily Unique Visitors reports started to show almost the double of visitors we used to have on our Web Application. Here are some of the data (I intentionally deleted the weekend data):

As you may notice the data jumped from around 2.700 unique visitors to around 5.000 unique visitors. As the number of permissioned users remains constant it is pretty odd. I also checked the Number of Page Views report and see no change on its behavior.
The number of page views remained constant.
So I went to look the Top Visitors report and understand why the visitors number almost doubled. The analytics started to count the users Display Name and Account name as two different visitors with a different number of page views. Let me show you an example
from yesterday (July, 25th) Top Visitors report:

"Cinthia" and the account "nt\cmazevedo" are the same person. The same is applied to "Giselle" / "nt\gbsantana" and "Aline" / "nt\aglsiqueira".
As I stated this is an example from July, 25th. If I checked the same report from a period before July, 16th I can only see the users Display Name as "Visitors". No account name is displayed or counted as a different visitor.
About the environment:
We have two SharePoint 2010 farms: a "corporate" and a "enterprise". The corporate farm contains four web servers and a central administration servers with publishing services. The enterprise farm contains two servers running User Profile Services, Search
Services and some others. Our main version is the SP1 with June/2011 Cumulative Update with a few more hotfixes applied.
This behavior on analytics is affecting all web applications (we have more than 20) installed on this farm and my company Support team said that no change were made on SharePoint on the weekend the problem started.
Does anyone have any tip about what is going on?

First of all thanks for your interest on this issue but I don't think it is related to the User Profile or the Active Directory.
I checked both records and there was no change on the Display Names. All the users have "full names" as display names (first + middle + last name) and not logins as SharePoint is displaying on this report.
But I did a test yesterday and checked the results today confirming that just the access been made using a specific server are causing this. Explaining it better:
I have four web servers on my farm named from P01 to P04. Then I created this test script:
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P01.
Step 2: Access site "A"
Step 3: Access site "B"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P02.
Step 2: Access site "C"
Step 3: Access site "D"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P03.
Step 2: Access site "E"
Step 3: Access site "F"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P04.
Step 2: Access site "G"
Step 3: Access site "H"
Step 4: Close the browser.
I asked three users to execute that script. The results: All access to the sites "C" and "D" were registered on Web Analytics with the user account name such as "nt\cmazevedo". All the other sites registered the user Display Name correctly such as "Cinthia
XXXXXXXXXX".
With this test we could isolate the problem just on the server P02. It doesn't occur on the others. Now my support team is trying to find any configuration difference between this server and the other three that could point for the root cause.
I am also looking for some information regarding the service responsible for this task ("transform the account name into a display name") to understand why it doesn't work on one server and works on the others.

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

How to show users display name and email address in open social widget?

Is it possible to retrieve users display name and email address with opensocial javascript e.g. Login widget seems to load user data (and userData.firstname) during the site init. Is this something that could be consumed or is there some opensocial data request that could/should be used. Any working sample widget spec would be appreciated.

in the logon widget, we also use the data retrevied from siteInit.loadData.data.user. However, this widget is part of the out of the box openSocial widgets, it is being released with the product code, not as a separate OS widget deployed on HANA Cloud Platform.
If you'll do window.parent.siteInit you'll probably will get the data you are looking for, but this isn't the official public API, so you can use it but we cannot commit on keeping this structure.
Why do you need this information in the widget level? Does your widget require authentication or is it for personalization needs?
The best way is to retrieve this info on the java side using HAHA Cloud Platform APIs and send them back to the client.

User display settings in Oracle Enterprise Linux 5
Hi all:
I have a weird problem with OEL5:
I installed it on a (test) server and I access to it from windows machines through XDMCP. The weird thing is that ONE linux user cannot be viewed whereas all the others can. The Xwindow system (Xming) crashes. I can see the log in screen, but when I do the logging with this certain user (which happens to be 'oracle') all goes black and Xwindows crashes.
I think it has to be some user display settings, but I am not able to find the configuration file to fix the problem. (Or find the other users' settings files to compare).

What version of Acrobat are you using? And are you referring to the Navigation pane on the left, or the Tools Panel on the right? In either case, you can choose to show or hide these items by choosing View > Show/Hide >.

Firefox displaying the nav menu strangely

I've built the following site and I'm having an issue with older versions of Firefox displaying the nav menu strangely.

Basically the issue is, that when hovering over menu page links, they sporadically disappear and reappear. They div floated right in the header (containing "tel: 01246 xxxxxx Call now to book a visit") is also coming and going. If I delete that floated div, the nav menu works fine, but I ideally want to keep it in. What's also strange, is the problem is not happening on the gallery page, I've copied the code exactly from there to solve the issue but its still happening.
The issue is not happening in the new Firefox, just older versions. I'm on Mac OSX 10.5.8, so cannot upgrade the new version of Firefox, Im using 16.0.2. The problem doesn't exist in any other browser.

After further investigation, I have found that it is the <select> option within the form in the right hand side div causing the issue.
In this [http://greglumleydesign.co.uk/index.html link,] I have left the <select> option in the form and the issue of the three a links (testimonials, helpful links and get in touch) disappearing in the nav menu when you hover over them is there.
In this [http://greglumleydesign.co.uk/test.html link] I have removed the <select> option within the form and the problem is fixed.
Is there any reason this would be happening?

Rename users display name from LDAP
my OBIEE 10.1.3.4 does user authentication from LDAP on our domain Active Directory..
a users display name was mis-spelled in Active Directory.. I corrected the mis-spelling.. but BI still shows it wrong..
when the user is created is the display name then stored in an ATR file or somewhere in the catalog..
were do I go to change it.. or how do I get it to update from Active Directory again..If the display name is really bothering the user, then you can do a work around like letting users to set their own display name by enabling the enable any user to set the value of the variable option for the DISPLAYNAME variable in the LDAP init block and calling it in the front end using NQSSetSessionValue().

Nav pane showing only 2 levels of headings
My top 2 heading levels, which show correctly in the Nav Pane are standard Heading 1 and Heading 2, but my third level is one I made up, Head3. I don't know whether that is responsible for the Nav Pane omitting the third level. I have three TOC's, one for
only level 1, one for levels 1 and 2, and one for all three levels. These look ok.
More clues: 1. Rt-ck on an entry in the Nav Pane and choose Show Heading Levels, set it to All. Makes no difference.
2. If I change some of my Head3's to Heading 3, those do show in the Nav Pane. But until today I had my Head3's showing too.Modify your Head3 style so that its "Outline level" is set to 3. In the Modify Style dialog box, click Format, Paragraph; you'll find the "Outline level" option on the Indents and Spacing tab.

WebHelp not displaying content in left nav pane
Any suggestions for why WebHelp is not displaying contents in
the left navigation pane? When Help is called, it displays the
frame (including buttons such as glossary, search, contents, etc)
and the work area, but does not show the TOC in the left navigation
pane.
I have also tried generating FlashHelp, with the same
results. This time, only the work area displays. Any suggestions to
fix this?
This is a new project, where RoboHelp is being deployed for
the first time. Any suggestions for making this a simpler
transition would be much appreciated. I have used RoboHelp for many
years with a different company and do not recall ever running into
this many problems.
Help!Sorry, I haven't used the CSH method which, by the way, was
designed to show only the topic at first, I think.
I give my developers a list of path/filenames for topics, and
they use this form:
.../helpdirectory/myproject.htm#targettopic.htm
There are some shortcomings to this method, which leaves the
window open and, when you call another topic, another new window
opens. In other words, you have to close the help window manually
to avoid windowmania.
A solution is a little js that checks to see if a window is
already open, closes it and opens a new one. (If no help window is
open, it's a harmless js error.) It's fast enough that you wouldn't
notice.
The downside here is losing the browser history. Forward and
back buttons work only so long as the help window stays open.
In my opinion, this is not a major concern, since many Web
based applications these days tell users not to use the back
button. Production users won't mind so much.
For ordinary people doing e-shopping and online banking, the
browser back button is anathema.
The bottom line is, if you have a decent set of navigating
options built into the design -- TOCs, left or right rail lists,
useful links at top and/or bottom of the topic page, the back
button can become superfluous.
Browe sequences work fine from any point in the lineup (I
know, it's not the same as browser history -- unless you give them
a really useful set of sequences).
The forever-loading left pane is gone in RH 7.

How to view individual customised users portal pages
Hi all,
We have a portal site in Production which will have up to 3000 users. Users are allowed to customise pages by adding portlets to them. They can also customise individual portlets.
The site has 24 x 5 support from a dedicated support team. We need to find a way of letting the support team view the users page (including the customisation) without having to ask the users password and actually logging in as them.
I'm sure that this must be a common support issue in other organisations (including Oracle).
Any help on this issue is appreciated.

You can certainly do it for hourly basis but i am not sure whether it could be done quarter an hour basis. Also The portal nodes within a cluster can be in different time zones, yet the activity data from all nodes are aggregated together and reported together. To enable the reporting of hourly data from different time zones, portal activity reports display hourly data based on the GMT time zone.

You can try this method.
Create a Sales Group for the particular user.
Assign the authorization for the sales group only to that particular user.
Make the Sales Group mandatory entry while creating the sales order (VA01 screen).
By doing this the user can can only create / change / display sales orders under his sales group. Hope this helps.
