CWVisa Open Failure

I am using CWVisa in several applications to search for installed resources in a system.  In fact, I am using most of the example code in the FindResource Method documentation to accomplish this.  It works quite well on several systems running Windows2000 SP4 and XP-Pro SP2.
When installed on another system running Windows2000 SP4, the applications fail from the get-go.  Tracing VISA traffic using NI-SPY shows that ViOpenDefaultRM gets a 0x3FFF0077 status and the subsequent viOpen function fails with a 0xBFFF0011 status.  I made sure that the drivers and DLLs listed for CWVisa in the NI app note "Manually Installing your Program and Program Files" were installed and registered.  Any ideas on what's wrong would be appreciated.

Hi EXS,
If your program is able to run sucessfully on other systems, then I doubt there's anything wrong with your code.  I've seen this error before with bad installations of VISA.  The explanation of the error is "The specified configuration either does not exist or could not be loaded. VISA-specified defaults will be used."
One thing you can try is to open Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) while NI-Spy is capturing.  MAX calls ViOpenDefaultRM imediately upon launch to get a list of available resources.  See if you get this error when launching MAX and expanding Devices and Interfaces.  If you do get an error, then this indicates a bad installation of VISA.  Try uninstalling and reinstalling NI-VISA making sure that support for Measurement Studio is selected.
If you don't get an error when launching MAX, double check the resources and make sure they are identical to you other systems.  Verify that resource names and addresses are the same.  I hope this information helps.

I can't read acsm files on my e-reader after transferring them from the pc with ADE. it seems to work, but then when I try to open the files on the e-reader it says "open failure". what's wrong?

The acsm file is not the book, it is a ticket to get the book.  I sometimes get library books online, here is what I do.
    1. Start ADE on the computer
    2. Go to library website and find the book I want to download.
    3. Click on the download link
    4. In windows 7 a box opens asking whether I want to open( or run) or save the acsm file
    5. Click open/run and ADE downloads the book into the "Library"
    6. Transfer the book (epub file) to the reader.

  • Authentication Open Failure

Is there away to stop the port from reauthenticating when a device fails to open. I am trying to set up low-impact mode on a wired network. And I have some WYSE terminals that I don't want to authenticate to the network so I would like them to fail open with an ACL limiting their access. However the switch continues to try and authenticate the device even after it has failed authentication. This is causing my logs on ISE to be full of bogus authentication failures. Is there a way to limit thoses errors or the the switchport from trying to reauthenticate? Below is the switchport config.
    switchport access vlan 33
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 233
    ip access-group ACL-DEFAULT in
authentication event fail retry 1 action next-method
authentication event server dead action authorize vlan 33

    Hi Nicolas,
You can configure a Restricted VLAN using the command "authentication event fail action authorize vlan (number)" and limit the access for that vlan using ACLs.
    You can refer to

  • Deploy to Weblogic  JDBC open failure

I have deployed successfully prior to the 7/1/2009 Jdeveloper release.
When I tried to deploy using the new release I receive the same error messages no matter the technique.
I used the ear sync set check box. This generates a web and jdbc module in weblogic.
I unchecked it. Manually setup JDBC source.
I generated a ear/war and manually deployed using weblogic console.
I ran with NO JDBC at all.
After each manually JDBC setup I always tested the connection, always successfull.
The messages are always the same.
    Unable to open JDBC.
    Null pointer
    password null
I MUST be doing something really stupid, but I can not figure it out.
I am using no custom anything.
I just created a one form app and tried to deploy it, but same error messages.
I am deploying to windows server 8

    Hi,
    2 things to check.
    1. Your In your AppModule config change the JDBC URL to JDBC DS (as mentioned by frank - I hope you have already done that) and Test the JDBC Datasource you've created via the weblogic console. Also, make sure the You've added the Datasource (you've created through the wls console) to the AdminServer (or ManagedServers).
    2. Are you adding any ADF Libraries (Another application deployed as ADF Library) to your application? If yes, check out the connection information of that Application too.

  • IPhoto library open failure?

    Problem opening iPhoto?

    Problem answering question?
If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos" means the helper is just guessing. More information means you get better assistance.

  • Dependecy file association - Hyperlink open failure

I have a App-V 4.6 package of Access 2007 with a local installation of Office 2007 Standard. If a user opens a database file with a hyperlink to a xls file the file successfully opens in Excel 2007. If a user ties to open a hyperlink to a xlsx file
they receive a error message 'No program is registered to open this file'. If the user opens the xlsx file from within Excel 2007 the file opens ok.

In your package check the file extension/classes keys in the virtual registry. It might be that one key has 'overwrite' as a property and this way 'hides' locally installed keys.

  • Project open failure

Any idea on what's going on with when you double-click a project file from finder, it launches After Effects, but the project doesn't actually open, only the application. I'm having the same issue after upgrading to CC. Unless that is just how CC works now?

Thanks Todd, here is a link to a test project. It happens with every project so far that I've opened. I also have AE 10.5.0.253 installed as well. CC is the default and double-clicking on an AE project file will open AECC automatically but not open the project. If I control click on the project file and chose open with CS5.5, it'll launch the program and open the project (if it was a project file created in CS5.5 or older).

  • Appleworks opening failure

AW was locking up when simple WP files were open so I decided to reinstall it. I dragged the old folder to the trash and emptied the trash. Then I reinstalled AW6 again. Repaired permissions and restarted. I also installed the AW update.
Now AW won't open at all. I get the splash screen, then a message that "The file is locked or already in use." When clicking OK (IT's NOT OK!) AW tries to continue to open for a few more seconds then shuts down with the "unexpected close" error box.
I've discarded the appleworks.plist file and repaired permissions and restarted but continue to get the error.
What file is blocking the opening sequence and how do I get it working again?
    TIA

    Dave and Peggy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I replaced the dock icon right after the reinstallation. I've tried opening AW from an AW file (double clicking the file) and from double clicking the application itself (Appleworks 6). Same result.
Peggy, I know about locking files and giving read and write permissions. The problem here is that I cannot tell what file it is that AW is trying to open. When I click on the application icon, it should not be trying to open any file in particular. I've deleted the "recent files" and also the com.appleworks.plist in the preferences folder. I still get the locked file error message.
Here is one hint. I had a file open and got a spinning beach ball while that file was open. It was this problem that caused me to decide to reinstall AW (AW locking up when files were open). I had used the forced quit to stop AW, then deleted AW and the plist and the recent files and reinstalled. It might be that AW is trying to open some ghost of the file that was open the last time it was running. That file is on the hard drive in the same folder and with the same name as it had before, but maybe there is a file out there somewhere that indicates it was open at the time of the lockup/force quit. Maybe THAT ghost file is what I am looking for. Cannot imagine where to look for it though.
Thanks for the help so far ... wish it had worked!

  • WES7 UDP Multicast Open problem

    Hi
    I am using LabVIEW 2012 SP1 programming a TPC-2206 touch-panel computer running Windows Embedded Standard 7.
I have a fairly simple program which uses the LabVIEW "UDP Multicast Open" VI to open a Read-Only multicast port, then reads data continously from it using the "UDP Read" VI.
The routine works by calling the "UDP Multicast Open" VI and if successful, then entering a continous While-loop which reads from the opened port via the opened Connection-ID refnum. If unsuccessful at opening, the routine sits there waiting for the Open to succeed, displaying a message to the user that the network is not plugged in (or similar).
My problem is that if I open the port without a network connection, the open operation succeeds (which is great as its a multicast open and that seems like the right thing it should do), but subsequently when I plug in the network with good data being sent on it, I do not receive anything?! I would have expected data to be received if the port succeeded in opening, no matter what the initial condition of the connection.
When I tried this on Windows XP, I got a open failure which let me know the network was not plugged in. I subsequently programmed it to put up the flashing message and waited for a good connection such that "UDP Multicast Open" then succeeded. Subsequent reception was then good.
Is this a known difference between WES7 and WinXP and LabVIEW "UDP Multicast Open"/"UDP Read", or am I missing something?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks for the reply. I have also checked that example. Please note that in the example it doesn't have an input for the net address, which i assume labview 2011 will use 0.
I have also just received a reply from NI and confirmed it's a known bug in 2011. i will post it below.
I hope this finds you doing well. I am glad to hear that you are starting to upgrade to 2011 and I apologize for the issues you are seeing. I suspect you are using this on one of our Real-Time targets if so the good news is that this behavior has been documented in the form of a CAR (actually a
few): Broadcasts and the UDP Open VI have an INCONSISTANT behavior depending on the OS. Pharlap/Windows receive broadcasts when the "net address" terminal is wired while vxWorks/Linux don't. These CARs are scheduled as major incoviencience and will be fixed in a future version of LabVIEW as of now the work around is to simple not wire the net address field.
The CAR numbers incase you would like to see when they are fixed are:

The demo you loaded is for Weblogic server, not for glassfish. You can't just deploy the demo and run it.
I'm not even sure it has been done jet, but may be someone has successfully done it.
Have you searched (google) for a solution?

  • Keychain, permissions and general system wide issues

    Hi all,
Sorry for the slightly odd title to this post but I was at a loss what to specifically post this under due to the sytem wide nature of the problems I am experiencing with a Mid 2009 13" MBP.
The following problems exist with any user, including admins.
I was first made aware of an issue when the MBP stopped connecting to secure websites - Chrome would just give the "Aw Snap" error and Safari would give the error saying it couldn't establish a secure connection to the server etc.
After searching this, I was led to a community page saying to do a keychain first aid which then threw up the follwing results (the login keychain did not contain any items):
    Verification started
Checking keychain configuration for testuser (user ID=1079)
    Home directory is /Users/testuser
    Checked login keychain
    Unable to open ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain (-25312)
    Checked default keychain
    Checked contents of ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Unable to open ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain (-25312)
Problems were found; you should choose the Repair option to fix them
    Verification failed
    Repair started
Checking keychain configuration for testuser (user ID=1079)
    Home directory is /Users/testuser
    Checked login keychain
    Unable to open ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain (-25312)
Failed to rename /Users/testuser/Library/Keychains/login.keychain to /Users/testuser/Library/Keychains/login_renamed.keychain, reason: The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument
    Checked default keychain
    Checked contents of ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Unable to open ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain (-25312)
Warning: some problems were not fixed
    Repair failed
As well as this issue I am also experiencing:
Failure of Spotlight to open native applications e.g. I want to open Kechain Access so start to type keychain, but instead of showing the result for the application I only get a dictionary result.
If I manually try to open native apps from the Applications directory they do not open
Failure to connect to my work network drives
I came across this post on the community https://discussions.apple.com/message/25579695#2557969 and tried the suggestions of Linc Davis and specifically his suggestion about restarting in safe mode.
This does temporarily fix all of the issues that I am experiencing but they just reappear again after a while of using the laptop.
I had recently bought an SSD to upgrade this MBP and shortly after these problems started I decided that I would take the opportunity to install it and hope that a fresh install of ML might fix the issues.
Unfotunatley even after this, the problems just resurfaced.
I have tried two fresh installs of ML and since the 2nd install I haven't installed a single 3rd party application or synced any of my user data back to the MBP.
I have even tried a 2nd SSD in case the problem was somehow related to it.
All problems still persist and I am at a loss what to try next, hence my post here to the community!
It now feels like these problems may well be linked to another hardware issue but this goes beyond my experience with these types of issues!
Any help / suggestiosn would be hugely appreciated!
    Justin

    Hey Eric,
I just made time to go get the results for you.
In addition to the problems I detailed above, when I first tried to download Etrecheck, the system refused stating that there was not enough space on the hard drive. However, after using the inspector on Macintosh HD it was clearly not the case. Aftyer rebooting into safe mode and restarting I was able to download it. Currently having no issues due to safe mode restart but they will return eventually over the next few hours of usage.
Here's the Etrecheck results, thanks in advance
