Dashes convert to single line

Hello,
On my iMac OS X 10.9.4, i am unable to create in TextEdit or Pages guitar tabs in the Courier font, like i did for years, by simply keeping my finger pressed on the dash key: all my dashes attach themselves together to form a continuous line as soon as i release the key! This behavior occurs in other typefaces—and in TextEdit in Plain Text as in Rich Text mode.
This has never happened to me before—i may have some settings or preferences off somewhere, but i have not been able to sort my problem out from my System Preferences. As i have also Kotoeri, i tried out switching to the Romaji mode: same result. i even opened old tabs and copied-pasted the original tabs, but as soon as i start inserting more dashes, they turn into a single line too.
I will be grateful to any fellow guitarist who will provide me with the solution, as i am clearly over my head with this! Thank you in advance.

In Oracle 9 you can get rid of the regex functions and use traditional SUBSTR, INSTR and REPLACE:

Single line of text/email id to People or Group column

I have a list of employee details, along with their SharePoint email ID. I want to import this list along with a new People or Group column, where it reads the email id and picks the correct user from Active Directory. How to import this?

Based on your description, I did a test. When I used users' email address in excel table and imported it to SharePoint list, the column would be saved as Hyperlink or Picture type. If I used Domain\User, after importing it to SharePoint list, the column
would be saved as Single line of text type.
It seems that it only is converted into Single line of text or Hyperlink type when you import a table into SharePoint list, by default. There is not a way to convert the table column in excel file into People column in SharePoint list.

The video I am watching this guy is just dragging every line to make curves. And every anchor point is a corner. He is not switching back and forth between the pen and the anchor points tool, and he is not using the convert points tool. He draws a curved line and starts another straight line only to curve it with a click and a drag. It is super efficient, and I could save a world of time if I could figure out what he is doing.

what's a multiline text string?
1) You have an array of string: simply use "string concatenate" to convert from array to scalar string.
2) Your string contains CR and/or NL characters: use "Search/Replace..." for this string, replace all EndOfLine chars by space (or which char you may prefer)...

i did not understood your problem. javascript supports \n character processing. so you should not get any error. Do one thing write a javascript function, that replaces all \n with "". this will solve your problem
funciton replaceNewLine(StringValue) {
StringValue.replace('\n','') (check replace() syntax once)

Hi, I dont want to re invent the wheel if there is something out there that does this already. I want to take some string with multiple
line feeds and convert it to a single line. For example:
"I want this string
to be changed to
a single line"
to this...

We format it when loading in a way that it will look like this when queriing from the DB

This is so that you can see exactly what characters are in there, rather than wondering about the specific whitespace.

Converted single line text to multiple and want to have rich text editing in layout

We had a text field in a site that was initially set as single line of text. We needed it to be bigger and also allow formatting. So I added the field into the page layout.
Changing
<SharePointWebControls:TextField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
to
<SharePointWebControls:NoteField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
But it doesn't show any rich text editing options and displays the full html tags in the field.
If I open the page in the edit properties screen instead, then the field displays as I want it with the rich text editing options available in the ribbon, and text showing as bolded instead of like this:
<div>This is <strong>the </strong>habitat field.</div>
This is a site using the 2010 Publishing template running in compatibility mode on a 2013 server.
How can I get my page layout to behave the same way as the edit properties screen does?

Our company has a requirement, they want if there are multiple lines exist for the same material in sales order and purchase order then it should become like one single line.

MessageTransformBean - SimplePlain2XML - Multiple records on a single line

I am trying to convert multiple record from a single line to multipe rows in an XML message with the MessageTransformBean.
If the record look like this it's working:
RECORD1textETC
RECORD2textETC
But the incoming message are all on a single line:
RECORD1textETCRECORD2textETC
Is there a way to add a linefeed to my incoming message after X characters, or to tell the adapter to split by length instead of spliting on the end of line?

Single Line Report issues

Hi, folks.
I have a table of employees and a table of certifications. An employee may have 0-15 certifications (and dates completed).
I'm trying to generate a single line report like this:
NAME - CPR DATE - FIRST AID DATE - Etc
I've made an evaluation formula:
If {Cert_Table.Type} = "CPR" then {Cert_Table.Date}
This works brilliantly...as long as CPR is the first record that matches the employee ID. If it is the second, it leaves the field erroneously blank.
I know the ideal way to show this would be a list, but the boss wants a single-line representation of the key certification dates.
How do I get crystal to report back the CPR date regardless of which order it appears?

There are a couple of ways you can do this. Following your train of thought, you can build the string like:
Create a Group on Employee.
In the Group Header create a formula like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Certifications := "";
In the Detail section create a formula like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Certifications;
Certifications := Certifications += {Cert_Table.Date} & " - ";
In this formula, if your Date field is an actual date type then you will need to use the ToString function to convert it to a string or you will get an error.
In the Group Footer create a final formula like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Certifications;
The first two formulas you can format to Suppress so you don't see them.

PBDOM : Exporting to XML file gives a single line

I've been starting developing with PowerBuilder 12.5 a few weeks ago. I had to write some XML files, so I got familiar with the PBDOM library.
I can build a lot of different things, it's very nice, but one thing still bothers me :
In the output file, the whole XML is written on a single line.
I use the SaveDocument function.
For example, here is some code :

With the notepad++ XML tools plugin, I can use the "pretty print" function to get this nice representation. But I would like my file to be formatted this way from the beginning. I noticed that the "line ending" was set to UNIX format (indicator on bottom right of the window), but I'm working on Windows. When I use the menu to convert it to Windows format (CR+LF), it changes this indicator, but the code stays on one single line.
Is there a way to tell PBDOM to export the XML file with a nice output ?

- Opening the XML file with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome gives me a nice vizualisation, with indentation, line breaks...
- Adding a <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> does not help (I've been doing it while exporting some more complex files, but I still get the output on one line...)

Single Line $45. plan--gone as of March 13th

Looks like it was too good to be true. A smartphone line that had unlimited talk&text plus 250mb of data for very light users. Its been taken off the website,
as of 3/13. Now, you can only get the $60 1gb single line or new $75. 2gb single line. Both have unlimited talk&text. Low use customers have just lost that
option, unless the company brings it back. I hope they do. I missed it by one day.

Typical of Verizon. A Byzantine price structure so complicated that even Verizon reps don't understand it, then Verizon refuses to honor misstatements made by their reps. I had three different issues trying to upgrade my lines and convert from a grandfathered family plan. Each time I got a different story, each time the next rep refused (or was unable) to honor the offer/information provided by the previous rep. Was told VZW would honor a sale on the Note 3 if I waited until a number port was complete, then they wouldn't (ironically I went to Best Buy and got the same deal, then Verizon reoffered the deal after I purchased from BB- too little too late), was told my employer discount would apply to the $45 250 MB plan, then after I selected that plan was told it wouldn't, was told I could switch between 250mb and 1 gb plan as needed when I traveled, well, the 250mb plan is already gone so that was wrong too.
I've been with Verizon for over 10 years as a customer and actually sold Verizon cell phones in my electronics store before that. VZW is rapidly overtaking Xfinity for worst customer service in the tech industry for the same reason- pricing and policies so confusing and misleading they couldn't honor them if they wanted to. And they obviously don't want to.

How to add form values into a single line...

You can use the "+" operator which is both the addition (number) and concatenation (string) operator. JavaScript makes the decision about how this operator will work by the type of the value of being processed. Two numbers JavaScript performs addition, character string and number, number and character string, or 2 character strings then concatenation.
If you just use the '+' operator and spaces, you will get extra spaces unless you add code to allow for null fields and adjusting the spacing or other punctuation as needed. You may also need to force numeric values to character stings or you might end up with an addition and not concatenation.
Adobe provided a example of a funciton to properly join 3 fields with full versions of Acrobat:

ICal only displays a single line for entries in month view.

This means I can't see what my diary entries refer to. Can I change it to show two lines or the full entry, as iCal did in Snow Leopard?

Hi Guys, thanks for getting back to me.
the problem is purely about design view display and not about coding.
Below is how CS4 displays borders with two lines which I find difficult to decipher:
Then below is Macromedia DM 8 and this how I want the borders to look, with single lines to display the tables.
This may just be the way Abobe have decided to display tables in design view and there may not be any option to change it but if you know any way to change it I would be most greatful.
