Data Form - Logic to calculate "Year Total" Column

Hi,
I need some help with the logic for calculating one of the column values in our data form. I am not sure how to do this - should I write a member formula or something else. Please let me know your ideas on this issue and I would greatly appreciate if someone could guide me on how to write the logic for the same.
Requirement:
I have a column in the data forms called “Year Total” where I need to display a value which will be the sum (combination) of the actual values and forecasted values.
We have in rows something called “Previous Forecast” and “Current Forecast” for which the Year Total values (in column) needs to be displayed and the user wants to be able to compare these two "Year Total" values and get a difference of the two.
For example: For the month “Aug”
1) Previous Forecast (Year Total) = Sum of Actuals (Jan to June) + Sum of Forecast values (July to Dec). (Here July is still a forecast value)
2) Current Forecast (Year Total) = Sum of Actuals (Jan to July) + Sum of Current Forecast values (Aug to Dec). (Here July became Actual)
Thank you!

Hello User626014,
Thank you so much for looking into my requirement and I appreciate your effort in guiding me with the logic. I will surely try your approach and see if it meets all my requirements.
I think I understand your logic too. Just for your information the call on whether the data will be in the "Working" or "Final" version still needs to be made. It could possibly happen that the users are given the working version to work with and so we will have the version set to "Working" on our data form.
There are somethings that are yet to be decided for sure. But for now, having this base idea of the logic from you is really helpful.
Please don't mind about my questions as I am trying to know things better.
1) Does the data for sure needs to be in the Final version? The reason I am asking this is since you said that if it's not in Final we can write a script to copy the data from Working to Final version.
2) Why was it that you asked me to remove "Final" from the FIX and asked me to reference it for getting the Actual and the Forecast data?
Please let me know!

  • Year Total of Gross Margin % Plan in the column for months

    Dear Experts,
I have designed a query with the KFs "Sale/Retail, Gross Margin% and Sales/Cost" in the rows and months in the column. I have put "Gross Margin % and Sales/Retail" as input ready and the Sales At Cost is getting calculated with the formula applied over Gross Margin %.
So if i am enetring 1000 for Sales/Retail in Jan month with Gross Margin % as 10%. the value of Sales/Cost is getting calculating correctly as 900.
Now i want to add a total column which will show the year total result of my planning for all months.
Here i am facing the problem.
I have inserted a Formula (named as "Year"), and put the formula to add all the months.
Suppose now i have entered 1000 Sales/Retail and Gross Margin % as 10% in Jan and Feb month.
So now the total figures in the Year column is correct for the Sale/Retail=2000 as it is getting added for every month, but the Gross Margin % is not correct as it is also getting added to 20%. And because of this the Sales/Cost is also wrongly calculated.
The Gross Margin % should be avearge of all months.
Can somebody help me to resolve. Any better idea to insert total column for the months will also help me.
    Warm Regards
    Abhishek

    Hi Gokul,
I have resolved the thing. Actually. When i use the Tab "Calculations" in the Query Designer. The effect reflects in the result and Overall result section.
But i wanted to correct the Data Input section with the Year total. So i have put the formula in the cells and used collision functionality to avoid the formula collision. So this resolved the problem.
    Thanks.
    Warm Regards

  • Row and Column Formulas on a Data Form

I am creating a data form which has both row and column formulas. I would like the row formulas to show for some of the cells but it seems to default to the column formula.
How can I get my form to show the row formula result and not the column formula result?
    Thank you!

  • Order Planning data form by column value

    Hi,
i have a big problem for sort the dataform with the value of a column.
I need to sort the rows in the data form using the value of a column. Today you can do it with the right mouse option, but I need this on load of dataform.
With javascript is possibile? I do not know javascript, can someone describe the methods to be used or has a code example.

    Hi,
I've come across similar requirements in the past. The way I'd handle is to change the dimension structure slightly for it to cater for the requirement.
Your current structure must be like below:
    +Activity 1
    ---Sub Activity 1.1
    ---Sub Activity 1.2
    +Activity 2
    ---Sub Activity 2.1
    ---Sub Activity 2.2
What you might think of converting this to could be like below:
    +Activity 1
    ---Activity 1.0
    ---Sub Activity 1.1
    ---Sub Activity 1.2
    +Activity 2
    ---Activity 2.0
    ---Sub Activity 2.1
    ---Sub Activity 2.2
By this way as both activity and sub activity remains at level 0, you will not need to fiddle around the target version. Plus you can still rely on suppressing missing data if there is a requirement to hide sub activities in certain accounts but show only activities. Another advantage of this is that it allows inputting data to both activity and sub activity without worrying about data override.
    Cheers,
    Alp

  • Two pass logic in data forms?

    Hi all,
I have a minor problem while creating data forms. I have a formula column and a formula row. The row formula is a percentage of two rows and column formula is an addition of two columns. My issue is for some reason, the row formula is calculated first and then the column formula which means that for the percentage, it's adding two columns that's not right.
    Here's a screenshot of what I mean - http://postimage.org/image/6ssgm51af/
In essbase we had Two pass calc which would resolve this problem but in the dataform, I can't find anything that would do this. I use Planning 11.1.2.1 and editing using workspace. Any help will be great.

    Hi N13,
The same two pass calculation is available in Planning too. If you are using Classic - Planning application means, please follow the below steps.
    1) From the Menu Administration ---> Dimension
    2) Select the corresponding member and Edit the member properties, it will show the two pass calculation option and refresh the planning.
    Thanks

  • Total column not changed between header & detailed screen

I have a report with header data contains contracts information and detailed data contains orders, debit credit memo related to the contracts.  I write the report using CL_SALV_TABLE to display  contract value, usage  in full ALV_GRID. When I double click on a contract line, it will go to the second screen to show all orders related to that contract.  The second screen with orders information will be in a screen on a container with all standard function ( Export list to Excel, Word format etc..), sort, total and sub total) and a push button to go back to first screen.
The report works fine but when I am on the second screen, I total and sub total the amount on that screen in order to check with total value in header record and it total up correctly by currency.
But when I go back to the first screen, select a different contract record,  double click on the line to get to the order info screen,  all order data display correctly except that the total column still show amount from the previous detailed screen.  If I select the column again and click the total, it will total correctly.   I did refresh the data in the screen before go back to first screen but it does not solve the problem.

    Hi,
If you want to know what patch release you are you, then log into planning directly and click help > about
The latest patch is :- 7229787 — You cannot open a Planning data form in Smart View, if in Planning preferences, the property for Indentation of Members on Page Display is set to Indent based on hierarchy.
I believe John was referring to this bug which was resolved in patch 9.3.1.1.6 :-

  • Store data in logical column

I am building a report to calculate the following formula:
Weekly Raised = Delta (“total defect for CURRENT week” and “total defect for LAST week”)
    Example:
Current week May 24th, “total defect for CURRENT week” = 30
Last week May 17th, “total defect for LAST week” = 20
    Weekly Raised = 10
In order for my formula to calculate correctly, I think I would need logical column to store the data that I need
I would need TWO logical columns:
Logical Column number one is to store “total defect for CURRENT week”
Logical Column number two is to store “total defect for LAST week”
The physical column that I'm using to calculate the total defect is (SUM("Defect Facts".BG_BUG_ID))
Can any somebody help me with this?

    Hi,
    pls refer the below link
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t11
in the link ref the section Creating Time Series Measures which will tell you how to create the two basic measures.
and then right click on the current week measure and go to Calculation wizard.
then select the last week measure in it and in the next page select change or percent change or what ever you want.
after that in this newly created measure set the aggregation as sum.
now you can directly use this newly created measure in your report.
    hope this helps.

  • Calculate Data Form - Business Rule

I am a little confused on how the default "Calculate Data Form" business rule works which is available when we create a new data form.
When run, does it calculate the entire cube as in it works like - CALC ALL; ? Or does it just calculate the dimensions/members specific to the form. I always thought that it is specific calculation for the data form - which considers the selection that we have in our POV, Page and rows and columns and it doesn't calculate the entire cube. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If anyone has any resourse that has more about it, please share the link or information. It will be a big help.
    Please let me know.
    Thank you!
    ~ Adella

Thank you so much John for responding to my question.
So, if I understood it right you were telling me that it doesn't calculate the entire database, but it only calculates the subtotals for those specific member combinations that are there on the dataform and displays it on the form after the business rule is launched. Hope now I understood it right.
Actually, I am running into an issue where I am just changing two cells on my dataform, then running the "Calculate Data Form" to see the totals changing accordingly but it is taking way too long than expected and also it is not rendering the right result. I am not sure what is causing this delay if it were only to calculate things specific to the data form and show the results.

  • How to calculate the total of bytes transferred when I submit a PDF Form in A. Reader

    Hello,
I need to know some way for calculate the total of bytes transferred when I submit a PDF form using JavaScript, hereby:

    b The reason:
I need to indicate the percentage of bytes sent to the server, in real time. Adobe Acrobat shows a progress bar and the transferred quantity in bytes, but Adobe Reader doesn't. Is in this case, when I need to find a way in order to make something similar.

  • Cross tab report's -one column display total counts of previous financial year, one column current financial year

    Hi
I'm using CR XI. I'm attempting to create  a cross-tab report where:
               Added       Total
    AF         12            23
    F            15           30
    CO         18           50
Where AF etc is the categoty of items, Added is the total count of previous finanical year(e.g. 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007), Total is the total account of current finanical year.
The count is based on created_date field(e.g. ITD.DTE -- ITD is the table, DTE is the field).
Although I can at the moment only display the value correctly in "Added"  column, if I tried to display the Total column, the two columns always have the same value.
How could I achieve the above desired results by using fomula? I would appreciate it very much if anyone could help me with this?
    Thanks in advance
    JS

    Create 2 formulas, 1 for the previous year and 1 for current, similar to the following;
    1) if date({Orders.Order Date}) in date(2003,07,01) to date(2004,06,30) then 1 else 0
    2) if date({Orders.Order Date}) in date(2004,07,01) to date(2005,06,30) then 1 else 0
Add both of these formulas as the summarized fields in the crosstab

  • Calculate Data Forms

    Greetings,
I'm testing a data form with the default setting "calculate data forms" setting turned on and the same data form with it turned off. There is a significant difference in save time when the default setting is not included. I looked up the definition of what "calculate data forms" is doing, to calculate subtotals, but my data form does not have any subtotals that have been programmed into it, but does pull on dynamic calc members. Does anyone have an idea why there would be a difference, in some forms it is taking 10x longer. Not sure if this setting should ever be used in this scenario.
    Thanks!
    Joe

    Joe,
I have never seen a "professional" Hyperion developer leave this feature on. Why would you let Planning try to figure out what needs to be calculated and then let it dynamically build a script under the covers? If your sub-totals are being calculated dynamically, then there's no need to use this feature. If they aren't, build a focused business rule and associate it with the save of the form. That way, you know exactly what is being calculated and how.
It's a bit like using CALC ALL. The feature is there . . . but in my opinion, it's a crutch for inexperienced resources.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake
