Database 9201 & 9iAS 10222 on Solaris

Dear all,
We have Oracle EE 9.2.0.1 installed on Solaris 9. In another ORACLE_HOME on the same server , I am installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. As per Metalink (issue 378799) , I have applied the JDBC patch and modified the O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY to TRUE.
The problem is that when launching the Portal installer , the first step is to connect to the origin database (the 9.2.0.1) which uses JDBC style connection, this is not working at all.
Note , the JDK 1.1.8 is used when luanching the Portal configuration assistant.
Any help?

I saw a reference on metalink about a patch. But, I do not know if it is the same patch that you have already installed.

Can any one brief in detail the difference between Oracle 9i database and 9ias application server.

    Hi,
Your question is the answer. Oracle9i Database manages all your eBusiness data and Oracle9iAS runs all your eBusiness
applications. In a 3 tier architecture, Oracle9i Database fits in the Database tier where as Oracle9iAS fits in the middle
tier. Oracle9iAS provides an infrastructure to run different types of applications(J2EE thru OC4J, Forms applns, Portal
    based applns, Wireless applns etc..)

  • I want to know the ways of connecting 9iAS to Database and clients to database through 9iAS as middleware.

My question was about the necessity of implementing OID or any other version of LDAP.
We have a new 9iAS and 8.1.7 database implementation and i have a doubt about their networking architecture.
I want to know the ways of connecting 9iAS to Database and clients to database through 9iAS as middleware. We are debating if OID is compulsory or if we can go ahead with this implementation with out OID.
Can you please help me and provide me couple of implementation designs(i.e connecting clients to database through 9iAS). It would be great if any one can provide me the implementation's with and with out OID.

For all delta and full DTP loads you can get  information in table  RSICCONT .Check table  RSMONICDP  this will give you detail information .Here you will get all the information with timestamp and request id .

  • How can I create a Standby Database going from AIX to Solaris

    Hello All,
I need to create a read-only replica of my Oracle 9i database on AIX to a 9i or greater database on Solaris. The replica must recieve the changes to the master database on an interval. The standard DataGuard solution does not support mixed operating systems.
Is there another way to create the replica? I would prefer not to create triggers on the master tables.
    Your input is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you just wants to have replication, try materialised view. Hope this will work.

    Hi Praveen,
It looks to be more permission issue rather than space issue. Ensure the file system where you copied the DVD has full permission.
Check the installation logs for more details on which other file system needs full permission and work accordingly.

I have read conflicting comments about this. Will Oracle 9i and 9iAS work if installed on the same server ?

  • 9iAS for Sun Solaris Intel?

Will 9iAS be available for Sun Solaris Intel?
    Thanks,
    Shane

    Shane,
Due to bandwidth/space limitations, there are no plans at this time to put the Intel Solaris version of 9iAS onto OTN.
That said, the Intel Solaris version of 9i AS will be available through the following channels:
    1) Ordering directly from the oracle store at store.oracle.com, or via your local Oracle representative.
    2) If you have a previous version of iAS for intel solaris (with a support contract), you could request an upgrade via Oracle Worldwide support, and they will send you the software.

  • Which http server shall I use, 9i database or 9ias

Shall I keep the apache http which followed the database, or should I delete it and install the one that comes with 9ias. The only thing i know is that i cant have both.....
    please help !!!!
    Sindre

I you have 9ias up and running I should suggest that you use the Apache of 9ias because then you could also use the other products of 9ias like forms&reports listener, discoverer, wireless, J2EE, ...
You don't have to deinstall the Apache of the database, just set the service on "manual".

    Hi,
I am trying to install 9ias on SunOS 5.7. We have a 8i database up and running
on the boxalready. During the 9ias installation, we entered a separate
oracle_home, for a new instance we created. After, a dialog box poped up and

terminal- what I want to know is what will this root.sh script do to my

    Your help is much appreciated.

You can read the root.sh script in your 9iAS home (copy below). Make sure that when root is logged in the ORACLE_HOME gets set properly so the CHMODs etc act in the correct directories.

    Hi Jun,
I didn't said that SAP will not support your system, after the migration by Oracle data pump. I noted that OS/DB migration is performed by heterogenous system copy with the migration key.
Under this circumstance, if they accept to support you during the migration process with data pump, there's no problem. As I noted that previously, technically it is possible to migrate the system by using data pump, but I didn't requested that kind of support to SAP. I've been surprized to hear that they will support migration with Oracle data pump method. This is my own assestment.
Will they support you, if you face with a problem during the migration with data pump? Or some other problems you may be face after you go to productive, because of this migration?
    >> When you say "heterogenous system copy" does not support it, do you mean SAP does not support the converted system or just the process itself ?
I mean that SAP does not support just process itself and the problem you face because of this migration.

    Rob Zoeteweij Rob,
The following is the recommended order of installations for Customer Database (backend DB), Oracle9iAS and Oracle9iAS Infrastructure:
Step 1: Install and configure customer database.
Step 2: Install and configure Oracle9iAS Infrastructure. (apply patches if necessary)
Step 3: Install and configure Oracle9iAS middle tier installation.
Step 4: Perform appropriate post install steps to configure middle tier components with the customer database.

  • Database for 9iAS v2 Question

Has anyone tried to do the install of the Linux version (middle tier piece) with the 9i database on a 2000 box?
Want to keep the 3 pieces seperate (usually easier that way)....or will I have to install the database (portal repository, etc) on the same box as the middle-tier?
    Thanks in advance
    Dennis

    Pavana,
    Thanks for the info.
Here is what I am working on for my v2 installation:
Infrastructure machine (SuSE Linux) is up and running with patches installed.
Second machine has Win2k and a 9.0.1.1 database installed (planning on using this for the portal,
unified messaging, etc)....(customer database per the docs).
Third machine (SuSE Linux) is going to be the middle-tier box for v2.
Is this setup going to work ok, or will I have problems with the database version on the Win2k box? There are no patches specifically for the database on the Middle Tier install but.....
I can always install the 'customer database' on the Middle Tier box if I have to but would prefer to keep all seperate, much cleaner. If I do have to install the database on the Middle Tier box, are there any patches that have to be applied to that Home in addition to the 9iASv2 Home?
    Thanks,
    Dennis
