Database Daemon process?

this process shows up in the Activity Monitor in my user name as a PowerPC kind. anyone have any idea what program uses this? every other activity shows as Intel. thanks..

i found the answer; it has sometime to do with Entourage's notification system. i just went into Entourage preferences and turned off the notifications. apparently the notifications runs all the time, even if you aren't using Entourage......

Trying to install MS Office 2011 for Mac SP 2 (14.2.0) on my Macbook Air (Lion 10.7.3). I have to close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent but can not see how to do so.  I have closed all applications.  Can anyone help? Many thanks

Thanks Kurt!  I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close.  I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank.  In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well.  Thanks for your help!

  • How to quit Microsoft Database Daemon SyncServicesAgent?

I am attempting to update Microsoft Office, but when I download the update, I receive the message that I need to quit these applications:
    -Microsoft Database Daemon
    -SyncServicesAgent
I do not know how to quit these applications and they do not appear in the "Force Quit" menu.  Suggestions?

I share your frustration. Tried for 50 minutes straight to delete and they kept coming back. Today I tried again, following the instructions given to close in Activity Monitor. Clicked on 'Quit process' and confirmed only to see them pop up again, and this time 'quit process' was greyed out so I couldn't click it. Finally i tried the keyboard instructions given (alt -cmd - Q) and yeayy! **** things stopped long enough for me to install an update. Might just be coincidence but it worked for me

  • MS Database Daemon-Older Version Prevents MS Office from Launching

I just updated my MS Office, and i get an error message that it cannot be launched since an "older version of MS Database Daemon is still running". It instructs me to delete the older version from "startup items."
How do I go to Startup Items and delete the older daemon so the new one can launch?

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)
All your documents will be fine.

  • Database Daemon

Every time i turn on my MBP, a process called Database Daemon, or at least i think, starts up automatically. It is related to Entourage, as it has the same symbol, and it is a powerPC function, and uses a good amount of resources, so anyone know why it starts up every time, and what can i do to get rid of it.
Also, what does it even do?

4 ways to turn off Microsoft Database daemon:
    1. In Entourage Menu select "Turn off Office Notifications"
    2. Double-click the Office Notifications program, located in the Microsoft Office X/Office folder. On the Office Notifications menu, click Turn Off Office Notifications.
    3. Fire up Activity Monitor, look for 'database daemon' and choose 'quit process' from the processes menu (just do a normal quit, not a forced quit).
    4. Use this script

  • How do i close microsoft database daemon and syncservicesagent to install office 2011

I am trying to install update 14.3.2 for Office 2011, but keep getting notice to close MSFT database daemon and syncservicesagent.  Can't figure out how to do this.

The easiest way is to do it using Activity Monitor, an app that it's stored on /Applications/Utilities. Just open it, search the processes that belong to "Microsoft Database Daemon" and "syncservicesagent", and kill them.
If you don't want to use Activity Monitor or you don't want headaches, another possibility is to install this Office update in safe mode, to make sure that no Office for Mac processes are opened. To start in safe mode, hold the Shift key while your computer is starting until you see the Apple logo. Then, log in your admin user, install the Office for Mac update and restart as usual

  • I am not able to close Microsoft Database Daemon or SyncServicesAgent applications to install Office 2011 14.4.1 update.  Could you assist me?  Thanks in advance

I am not able to close Microsoft Database Daemon or SyncServicesAgent applications to install Office 2011 14.4.1 update.  Could you assist me?  Thanks in advance

The updater should close those processes for you - it didn't used to do so but should now.
If it won't quit the processes for you, open Activity Monitor (Applications>Library folder), search for the processes and quit them. You should be able to install the update now.
I just find it odd that the updater isn't quitting the processes on its own..

To close them open Activity Monitor, select All Processes, find them in the list of processes and quit them.

  • Does ONS Client side daemon process is version independent

    Hi All,
Our current application is not Oracle database failover aware.
In order to make it failover aware, we will be modifying the application to subscribe to ONS events.
Approach we are following is to use, Oracle Client side ONS daemon process to subscribe to failover events.
    Our configuration in production is,
    Oracle Database Server version 10.2.0.4
    Oracle Database Client version 10.2.0.3
    OS - RHEL4 64 bit
In Integrated Test database, due to some reason, we are using Oracle client 10.2.0.4.
    Question regarding ONS is,
Since we will be using ONS daemon process at Oracle client side, due to Oracle client version difference between Integration Testing and Production database, are we going to face any issues?
To be more specific, are there any differences in ONS process for 10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4 client versions?
Are there any bugs reported for ONS for these 2 client versions?
One example: 10.2.0.4 client has BUG related to reading CLOB having Multi Byte characters, using OCI calls. Whereas 10.2.0.3 don't have such issues.

    Hi Eric,
these are the cache control headers of the request that serves the XSLT:
    GET http://www.carsten-leue.de/test/iframe_xslt/xslt.php HTTP/1.1
    Accept: */*
    Referer: http://www.carsten-leue.de/test/iframe_xslt/xslt.php
    Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
    User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko
    Host: www.carsten-leue.de
    DNT: 1
    Connection: Keep-Alive
There does not seem to be a header involved that prevents caching.
You mention the "legacy ActiveX" control. In which sense is this control involved in the usecase? In my scenario I am pointing the browser to the XML document that has an associated stylesheet and the browser automatically executes the transform.
I am not explicitly triggering the transform via some script in the page.
Does the ActiveX control still play a role in this scenario?

If the Office updates have to be run through Win in Parallels, there's not really a section here that covers that , because Neither Office or Parallels are Apple products. There is only a small chance that you'll find someone with BOTH your conditions who just happend to look into a forum on older iMacs.
    Parallels has a forum here:
    http://forum.parallels.com/forum.php
I think you'll get a faster response there.
